What makes the Cambridge Judge MBA experience unique? [Show summary] Charlotte Russell-Green, Head of MBA Recruitment and Admissions at Cambridge Judge Business School, explores the one-of-a-kind experience students can expect from the full-time MBA program at Cambridge Judge’s historic campus. What Cambridge Judge is looking for... and what it can offer YOU [Show notes] Are you intrigued by the innovative and venerated Cambridge Judge Business School? Interested in an immersive one-year MBA in the UK? The Cambridge Judge Head of MBA Recruitment and Admissions is our guest today. Charlotte Russell-Green earned her bachelor's in Drama and Theater Arts from the University of London. In only a couple of years, she was working in the MBA admissions world, first as a senior marketing executive for QS World MBA in North America and then in MBA admissions for Cambridge Judge. She became Head of Recruitment and Admissions for the MBA roughly five years ago. Can you give us an overview of the Cambridge Judge MBA program and focus on its more distinctive elements? [2:03] The Cambridge MBA is a one-year full-time MBA program, run out of the University of Cambridge, which is in the UK, which is in Europe. The great thing about the Cambridge MBA is it really is experiential. The curriculum has been designed to take you on a micro to macro journey, but with each term, there is a key learning milestone: a practical project where you're working with a real life client. There are two live consulting projects that run alongside your studies, as well as the global consulting project, which is where you work with an international client on site as a consultant, as well as an internship opportunity in the summer. So it's really experiential, and it's really, really collaborative. We have a class size of circa 200, which we find is optimal for us and the learning environment that we have, because you can build meaningful relationships with your classmates. It's broad enough and diverse enough to build a far-reaching network, but you're really going to get to know everyone in the class. You're also set amongst the University of Cambridge, so you are a member of one of the famous Cambridge colleges, and you get to have the Harry Potter-style dining experience. It's a fantastic opportunity and a great life experience. Over the summer term, you can do an internship. We keep the summer term quite flexible because people can be at quite different journeys of their career path. Some people want to do an internship. Some people choose to do another consulting project, or some even choose to do a research paper. Do the students have any difficulty changing career direction or returning to their home country if they aren't from the UK? I know most Cambridge Judge students are not. [4:02] Usually around 90% of the class is international. A really good thing to look at, which perhaps we can link to later, is the employment report, which is a great way of seeing where our students go after the MBA. Particularly if you're coming from the US and you're used to the two-year standard MBA model, you might feel a bit anxious about the one-year program and it being so fast-paced and over in a flash. But actually we have over 90% of the class switch function sector or location, and actually, over 40% of the class achieve all three. So within that one year, people are able to really change up their career and achieve a lot. Good thing to do would be to look at the report and drill down, but we get people who work in the UK and we get people who go to work internationally in another country. But we do also get people who return to their home country. It's something that our students do achieve. But what I would say, if you are someone from the US who is looking to work in the US after your MBA, then unless it is your goal to gain that international experience and get that one year internationally and broaden your network international...

PSYCHIC MEDIUMSHIP Yeah, yeah, Open Loops brought you a psychic, and of course, we ask about the election... But that aside: Dean McMurray, the world-renowned Military Medium, joins Greg this episode to discuss if we should hand psychics military-grade weaponry, but also if we should spend time during Basic Training teaching soldiers how to align their chakras. And of course, your host Greg gets scared when psychics come on the show. Is Greg going to turn out okay, Dean? Is he? That's all he wants to know on this episode, and he's right to ask. Because Dean senses those things. Dean McMurray is clairvoyant, clairsentient, claircognizant, clairgustant, and even experiences clairtangency. He has mediumship abilities, he can remote view, he's dowsed, he's found missing people, he does intuitive real estate consulting, and he has communicated with extraterrestrial entities. And he also happens to be a 24 year Army Veteran. When military rigidity meets midnight hauntings, you know you're in for a treat. Also, Project Stargate. Secret Military Undercover Ops. UFOS. Exorcisms. All in this episode. Dean McMurray serves it up. And it definitely tastes better than the army food they show in the movies. .....But like, is Greg gonna be ok? -------------------------- Dean's Links: Dean McMurray, Military Medium Official Website: www.deanmcmurray.com The Red, White and You Show: https://www.facebook.com/theredwhiteandyoushow/ --------------------------- If you enjoy Open Loops, please subscribe, rate, and review this podcast at www.ratethispodcast.com/openloops Episode analytics

Or your life? Or do you just wing it and hope for the best? What is a goal even REALLY? Well, the definition is ‘the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.’ But I think it’s much more than that. Goals are an intention. Goals are clarity on what you want. Goals are a way to get everything you actually want. Goals are you making a commitment to yourself. Why do we need goals? Putting it simply, those people who set goals are almost 300% more likely to achieve them than those who don’t. Good enough reason? There are a million other reasons that I’ll go into more detail on below but that’s a good enough one to start off the conversation! Goals help with the overwhelm...if you use them properly! Often when we have a HUGE goal and we don’t go anywhere near it because it’s overwhelming. All of these ways of setting goals will help with that. The funny thing is, we tend to overestimate what we can do in a year and massively underestimate what we can do in five years. When we go through the process of actually setting goals it makes us get really clear on what we actually want in our lives and our businesses so we always have a focus and can always see progress. So many of us go through life not working this out so is it any wonder that we can wind up unhappy? With no progress, no drive, no bigger picture? This can cause us to feel lost and stuck and not getting anywhere fast. Goals give us direction and focus and help us actually take ACTION on the things we want to achieve. Spam filter Goals also help our brains filter out the important stuff that we need to notice. Our brains have a natural ‘spam’ filter (Reticular Activating System) that literally filters out the ‘noise’ to let us see the most relevant information. We simply can’t take on all the sights, sounds, images, smells, senses in general that we are bombarded with daily so when we tell our brains what is important to us then it helps to filter out what we need. But you need to tell it first! Types of goals Here are a few of my favourite types of goals to think about and you’ll be able to see which ones can work for you and how you work. SMART Goals I’ll start with an oldie but a goodie and these types of goals are so well known for a reason. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. This is the part where you break it all down and make it achievable and easy to see the path. Your goal needs to be super specific, clear and easy to explain. How will you measure that you’re on track? Is it achievable, can you see the steps clearly? Is it realistic, is it all within YOUR control? And then set a deadline! It makes the process really structured, easy to follow and easy to keep track of and can really help break down bigger goals into more manageable ones. Stretch Goals OK so a stretch goal is kind of exactly what it sounds like, it’s a goal that you know will ‘stretch’ you and not something that’s possible with exactly where you’re at right now. It’s not an easy one, it will require work and growth to get there...which is the fun part! It will push you, require you to learn new skills or gain new knowledge in order to achieve it. Often when talking about stretch goals people use the quote ‘shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars’. The idea is that even if you don’t hit the end goal for whatever reason you will still end up in a significantly better place than you were before you started...and probably feeling pretty awesome! Small Goals/Short term goals These are super important to get rid of the overwhelm gremlin when you’re focusing too heavily on the big huge scary goal. When you can set yourself smaller, more short term goals you will achieve them more quickly, build your confidence and gain momentum towards your big scary goal. So instead of going ‘OMG i’m nowhere near it, what was I thinking’, you’ll be saying ‘check me out i’ve made a tonne of progress in the right direction and I feel awesome, look at me go’. Lifetime or BHAG Goals This sounds a bit morbid but what do you want people to say about you at your funeral, what legacy do you want to leave? Knowing the goals you want to achieve in your life time will actually help you set your short and long term goals and make it MUCH more likely for you to achieve. BHAG stands for Big Hairy Audacious Goals. The big picture, the big plan, the vision of the future you have for yourself. You know it’s a stretch but you also KNOW it’s achievable and drives you in working towards it. These goals are also GREAT to help you with your visualisations, which as we know are HUGE when it comes to being able to get super clear on what you want and help you take action on getting them. Helping your brain act as if it’s already true because it can’t distinguish between real and imagined and in turn creating much less resitatnce to you actually taking action towards it. BHAGs are what get you out of bed in the morning. They are the picture of ‘what would you do if money were no object’ they are what drives you and makes you excited. The big fat fulfilling goals that if you achieved you would be over the moon and probably crying big fat happy tears. So I’m hoping what you can see here is how goals can really help shape our reality. It can help give us focus and purpose and help get us to exactly where we want to be. We can set hourly, daily, weekly, yearly goals and everything beyond that. We can start with teeny tiny goals but the point is just starting. If you know you need some more of this in your life then there are only 4 spots left in The Proactive Pants Mastermind which will get you out of overwhelm and procrastination frustration and INTO positive action, focus and actually moving forward in your business with me in your corner. If you know that now is the time to start changing things for yourself and want to explore this further, have any questions or want some accountability to make sure you’re doing the things you need to then please book in a free discovery call so we can see what needs to happen to get you from where you’re at right now, to the successful business owner you know you can be!! All the details are in the link below and I hope to see you on the inside. Fx

Investigative journalist Nina Teicholz joined Ken and Dawn remotely from a studio in New York City in mid-September for a fascinating discussion about the history and pitfalls of nutrition science. Teicholz is the author of the international bestseller, “The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat & Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet.” The Economist named it the number one science book of 2014 and the Journal of Clinical Nutrition wrote, “This book should be read by every scientist and every nutritional science professional.” Nina began her journalism career as a reporter for National Public Radio. She went on to write for many publications, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, The New Yorker, and The Economist. She attended Yale University and Stanford University where she studied biology and majored in American Studies. She has a master’s degree from Oxford University and served as associate director of the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development at Columbia University. “The Big Fat Surprise” is credited with upending the conventional wisdom on dietary fat. It challenged the very core of America’s nutrition policy by explaining the politics, personalities, and history of how we came to believe that dietary fat is bad for health. Her book was the first mainstream publication to make the full argument for why saturated fats – the kind found in dairy, meat and eggs – belong in a healthy diet. The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Mother Jones, the Library Journal and Kirkus Review named “The Big Fat Surprise” one of the best books of 2014.
