Heloise was a strong-willed and gifted woman who was fluent in Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and came from a lower social standing than Abelard. At age 19, and living under her uncle Fulbert's roof, Heloise fell in love with Abelard, who she was studying under. Not only did they have a clandestine affair of a physical nature, they had a child, Astrolabe, out of wedlock. Discovered by the Fulbert (who was a Church official), Abelard was assaulted by a hired thug, and Heloise entered a convent. Abelard was exiled to Brittany, where he lived as a monk. Eventually Heloise became abbess of the Oratory of the Paraclete, an abbey which Abelard had founded. It was at this time that they exchanged their famous letters, presented in this book. The letters, originally written in Latin, are passionate both in the remembrance of lost love, and the attempt to reconcile that love with their respective monastic duty to remain chaste. This is a collaborative reading.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

How do our values, self-worth, and cultural expectations shape the way we show up in relationships? In this conversation, entrepreneur, fitness model, and actress Rosa Acosta shares her perspective on redefining what relationships can look like when you step away from society's scripts. She reflects on leaving behind relationships that don't serve both partners, questioning inherited scripts about men and women, and what it takes to create intimacy outside of convention. This is a dialogue about love as partnership, the courage to release what no longer fits, and the art of rewriting our own story.

Chad Daybell's Love Letters to Tammy EXPOSED: Fiction or Reality? On Hidden Killers Live, Tony Brueski and the crew unpack Letter Two from Chad Daybell's prison writings, where he devotes the entire entry to Tammy Daybell — the wife he was later convicted of conspiring to kill. Chad paints a glowing portrait of their early romance, marriage, and family life. He gushes over their first meeting, the Oingo Boingo and B-52s concerts they attended, and the book company they built together. He describes Tammy as vibrant, kind, and angelic — almost saintlike in his retelling. But the irony is suffocating: this is the same man convicted of orchestrating Tammy's murder, burying children in his backyard, and plotting alongside Lori Vallow in one of the most infamous cult-driven cases in American true crime. The hosts break down the surreal contradictions. How does a man convicted of family annihilation manage to write love letters that sound like Hallmark scripts? How does nostalgia about “family dance parties” ring when you know what he really did? With sharp banter and biting analysis, this segment reveals the psychological gymnastics of a killer desperate to rewrite his own history. It's unsettling, absurd, and a darkly fascinating glimpse into how Chad Daybell sees himself — and how far he'll go to manipulate even from death row. #ChadDaybell #TammyDaybell #LoriVallow #DaybellTrial #CultCrimes #HiddenKillers #TrueCrimeObsessed #PodcastClips #CourtCase #FamilyMurder Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What if the healthiest thing for your relationship… was your own front door? Living Apart Together (LAT) is a growing trend where committed couples choose to maintain separate households while staying emotionally and romantically connected. It flies in the face of the cultural script that says love means living under one roof, sharing a fridge, and arguing about thermostat settings. But LAT isn't about avoiding intimacy or commitment. It's about redefining what commitment looks like. In this episode, we're digging into the psychology, the science, and the very real benefits of LAT relationships and how to tell if this unconventional setup might be right for you.____________________________ Full blog and show notes: https://abbymedcalf.com/living-apart-together-relationships Take the Quiz and Get the Scripts: Is LAT Right for You?” Self-Assessment Quiz + Conversation Starter Scripts: https://abbymedcalf.com/lat-quiz Join my online community, One Love Collective, on Substack: https://abbymedcalf.com/substack. Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening (and reading!)I shortened the original title of this which was "it's not that they think that you can't, it's because they know that you can!". I got this idea because in some recent situations and recent jobs, I kept getting a lot of 'pushback' and vitriol and haters for no good reason.I always go out of my way to be respectful and kind. And I'm always professional.Due to this vitriol, it made me think..."is it because they think that I'm stupid?" or "do they think that I'm dumb?" And "why are they talking to me so disrespectfully?" "I'd never talk to them the way they're talking to me.".It's a form (it's always a form) of disrespect, suppression and oppression (with underlying racism and/or sexism). When I realized "Oh! It's not because they think that I can't do the job or do "xyz", it's because they know that I can".Because there is no call for it (no reason for it). No reason for any of this vitriol. SMH.If you ever second guess yourself and think "Oh no, they think that I'm stupid or incompetent or dumb!".They don't.It's not because they think you can't, it's because they know that you can and are completely capable and they're (for lack of a better word), hating on you because of this. Also, they want to feel like they're better than you and smarter than you which is where the pushback and suppression comes from. If they can suppress you and make you second guess yourself, then they've won.I hope you enjoy this episode.
Bike tours of Portland, Oregon by Cycle Portland, an interview of Charlotte by listener contributor Jonathan Weiss (1:26). A Love Letter to Suburbia is a new book on how car dependency, corporate control, and disintegrating community values have eroded the sense of connection and purpose that once defined American neighborhoods, and how to fix that with pedestrian first "villages." Author/Instagram influencer Diane Alisa talks (6:06). A longtime listener that happens to be a professional planner responds to some of the arguments raised by the West Hollywood bike hater from our last episode, in script form (28:45). Northampton, Massachusetts documentary maker Thomas Draudt uses his art to battle the bike haters and support the multimodal complete streets project "Picture Main Street" (48:00).
