In this short but powerful solo episode, I'm kicking off a brand-new season of Reinvention Rebels with a personal reflection on what it really means to bet on yourself in midlife. At 55, I decided to take a chance on something that lit me up — starting this very midlife podcast — even though I had no guarantees it would succeed. That one bold move launched a reinvention journey I couldn't have imagined, opening doors to new opportunities, from creating cybersecurity videos (totally unexpected!) to saying yes to my midlife health journey, now 98 days strong.Through that commitment, I've gained more midlife confidence, more energy, and a body that feels stronger and more joyful. In just 7 minutes, I'll share how betting on myself has transformed my life — and why I believe it's never too late for you to say yes to yourself and embrace your own midlife transformation.Plus, you'll get a sneak peek at what's ahead this season — real stories of women over 50 who are stepping into possibility, defying self-doubt, and showing the world what reinvention really looks like.
In this episode of She Believed She Could, Allison Walsh speaks to the woman who's felt the nudge to attend an event, join a coaching program, or invest in her own growth—but hesitated. She breaks down why betting on yourself isn't just brave—it's essential. Through personal stories, lessons, and a bold challenge, she encourages listeners to think bigger and act bolder—because the next level is waiting on the other side of that yes.In this episode, you'll learn:Why you are your safest and most powerful investmentThe real cost of playing small (and why it's not worth it)What happens when you say yes to showing up, growing, and servingThe power of proximity, presence, and putting skin in the gameA challenge to take one bold step toward your next level—todayResources & Links:

We are back from a week off which we forgot to tell the audience about! Blame that one on Jenners who took his kid to Universal Studios, and we learned that Rob is terrified of roller coasters. Rob also updates us on his family in the Carolinas after dealing with all the flooding from Hurricane Helene, and thankfully they are all okay. Plus Rob landed himself in the news this week by saying he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, which leads us into a conversation about Pete Rose and whether MLB should lift his ban now that he’s passed on. That also brings us into the conversation about the loss of Dikembe Mutombo, one of the most iconic big men to ever play the game and an amazing ambassador for the NBA across the globe. And we have a ton of stuff to talk about on the heels of NBA Media Day, first and foremost being Draymond Green. Harper salutes him for refusing to take any accountability for suspensions and time missed, while Jenners really just wants SOME kind of accountability from him after everything he’s been through. Respect to the Milwaukee reporter who asked Dame about Gorilla shooting her shot as Rob jokes about how much fun Media Days can be. And the Knicks did a lot of squirming behind the mics because they couldn’t talk about the Karl Anthony-Towns trade, as Rob thinks Milwaukee made a HUGE mistake letting him go! Paul Pierce said this week that the Knicks won’t win a championship in his lifetime, and Rob is hesitant to agree, and the audio of Tom Brady cooking Baker Mayfield reminded us of Kobe Bryant. Georgia vs Alabama breaks into the show, which leads us to a funny Big Shot of the Week, and we close it out with another fun round of Bet On Yourself.
In this transformative session, we are drowning out the outside noise, rejecting negative thoughts and behaviors, and embracing opportunities with realistic optimism. How? By betting on yourself, especially when it scares you the most! Betting on yourself often seems daunting; we fear failure and prefer comfort over risk. But taking that bet is crucial for success. Let's break it down. Key Points Discussed: Assuming Negative Thoughts are Wrong and how to challenge them. Open doors to new possibilities by questioning initial assumptions about yourself and situations. Worthiness & Personal Responsibility: Emphasize self-worth. Coming to terms with the fact that only you can bet on yourself; others may not always have your best interests at heart. Embracing Failure & Risk: Recognize failure as part of the journey. Learn from setbacks instead of fearing them. Taking Calculated Risks: Shift mindset towards potential gains rather than focusing solely on risks or losses. Raising Standards: Increase personal value through positive habits and decisive actions in pursuit of success. Opportunity Mindset vs Scarcity Mindset: Cultivate an outlook that sees potential growth in every situation rather than limitations. Truth & Personal Responsibility: Own up to one's role in their circumstances. – Stop blaming external factors for personal dissatisfaction or lack of progress. Examples of Betting On Oneself:– Continuous learning – Career changes or starting businesses – Committing to personal development – Prioritizing physical health – Investing financially for future independence – Strengthening emotional intelligence In all of it, I share my personal experiences with limiting beliefs instilled during childhood and how she overcame them by choosing to bet on herself above average expectations set by others. In the end, you are offered a powerful tool to empower yourself into placing the bet. But, grab a piece of paper! You're going to want to write this down. In conclusion, do not just dream big, put those dreams into action regardless of fear or uncertainty. Those that bet on themselves lead richer, more fulfilling lives. What to work with me one-on-one? We open a huge show this week with Rob having missed all the closing ceremonies, the idea of renting his house out for the Olympics in LA, and how he was taunting us from the front row of a Dodgers game last week. And of course we get into a huge breakdown of Team uSA, who won the gold but not without a lot of drama. Rob sounds off on the leaded audio of LeBron calling out Steve Kerr in the locker room, and agrees that on both the men’s team and women’s team there was a lot of bias from coaches who were playing the players they know. And Rob challenges the idea that only NBA coaches should be coaching Team USA, but if it has to be an NBA coach then it should be someone who doesn’t have any of their own players on the team. Recapping the gold medal game was easy, as we just relive Steph’s amazing daggers against France to bring it home. And amongst all that drama, B-Dog feels like LeBron is still the leader of that team… but Rob says it isn’t enough to be a leader on the floor, it has to count in the locker room too. But it didn’t mean much to Steve Kerr, who was anxious to throw flowers at the GOAT’s feet, even though LeBron was undermining him to the entire team. And we put the wraps on the Olympics by debating who the next group of guys are to pick up the mantle of Team USA. In NBA news, the Christmas Day games were announced – some great, some just okay – and how the NFL is coming for the NBA’s Christmas Day tradition. Giannis feels some sort of way about the Christmas schedule, as the Bucks weren’t included, and Rob is really in “show me” mode with that team now because they are always hurt. Plus Noah Lyles had a week, after he won the gold, then got Covid, then went clubbing, and finally having an article drop about how disrespected he felt to be invited to Anthony Edwards Adidas event. That even spurred the Cheetah, Tyreek Hill, who went from wanting to support him, to wanting to race him and beat him. Preseason football brings us the new kickoff rule, and with the Carolina Panthers plane sliding off the runway, Rob recounts a college plane flight where they all thought they were going to die. Finally the Big Shot of the Week to Magic guard Cole Anthony for giving back to his community, and very funny and odd round of a new game called Bet On Yourself.
On ED's last day in Las Vegas he reflects on his move to Vegas 9 years ago after graduating college. The lessons, the experience, then, now and how it will prepare him for the future. In life we take risks, and as the old saying goes, "Life is a gamble" what gamble are you willing to take with your life? Are you willing to roll the dice to advance your career, relocate, start a business, be a better friend, mother, father etc. Whatever it is, BET ON YOURSELF and may the odds be in your favor BY ANY MEANS! | @DBAMTV | @DREAMSBYANYMEANS

Podcast #512 TRUSTING YOURSELF AND YOUR DECISIONS Trusting yourself to make good decisions, and trusting your ability to show up big in your life in your own personal follow-through changes everything. If you've ever struggled with indecision, overthinking or lack of self-trust, this episode is for you. This episode will teach you how to practice self-trust, how to not belabor or second-guess yourself, and how to get out of the spiral of overthinking. In this episode of The Confidence Podcast, we're talking about: How to build self-trust, and how to trust big decisions you need to make How to be someone who does what they say they will do How to become a good bet - trusting that your effort will always pay off REVIEW OF THE WEEK: The COC takes the podcast to the next level. . I could have just watched the workshop to save myself hours of listening to podcasts. What I loved about this workshop were the exercises to help evaluate failures, and handle thoughts about future failures. -Trevor F. TRUSTING YOURSELF - HOW TO DO IT Know yourself. Establish a baseline of friendship with yourself. Actionables: Write out a list of times when you have made good choices, worthy of trust.Write out another list where you didn't trust yourself - and why that makes sense. PAST BROKEN SELF-TRUST IS A GOOD THING I spent years second-guessing and overthinking because I trusted hard - and the wrong people. Like anything, decision-making isn't something that just comes naturally. It's a skill that we have to learn, we have to practice, we have to strengthen. Therefore, the decisions you made in the past make sense. How does it make sense?Would I do it differently?Next time what will I change? We get stuck in overthinking and tapping into other people for decisions and over-confirming because we cast judgment on past "bad" decisions. Instead of labeling a decision "good" or "bad," what would it look like to label it as the decision you wanted to make? … that whatever the decision, you know that you can make it a good decision. HOW TO "BET ON YOURSELF" The best thing Brandon has ever said to me is: "you're a good bet." I'm going to say the same to you. How can you create a personal where you are a good bet? Show up for yourselfBe impeccable to your word.Have your own back.Train Affirmations for Self-Trust: I am a good bet.I made good decisions.I am worthy of trust and I act in a way that builds trust with myself.I have my own back.My inner voice is clear and strong.I trust God's plan for my life and I am practicing listening to His guidance. I have the courage to show up in the world as myself.I am okay making decisions other people don't agree with.I love trusting myself.Happiness is my natural state. It's safe to trust myself here.I always know what's best for me.I can make any decision a good decision. I make good decisions that make my life better. My gut tells me when something is off and I am good at listening to it. I seek inner peace and I can hear God's promptings. I believe in myself and in my potential. I am good at follow-through.I can create emotional certainty in the face of uncertainty. God guides me and will always be with me. "I am very concerned that the future seems to be consolidated among the 10 wealthiest, most powerful people in the world who are all white guys. And they're great. I know most of them personally. I have mad respect for them, but it's really concerning when a private individual can buy Twitter. It's very concerning when a billionaire can own one of the most important news organizations in the United States. When Jeff Bezos bought The Washington Post, at first I was very excited about it because we all know that journalism and journalistic integrity are an essential part of modern democracy. And that was very much threatened and dismantled by technology because their revenue structure was destroyed with the internet. So they had to reinvent themselves. So at first, when he bought it, I thought, Oh good, he's going to give them new lifeblood. And now I'm like, Oh, no. When we have major billionaires controlling the dialogue, the discussions, the flow of information–whether that's Facebook or Twitter or news organizations, that's really concerning. So my major deliverable and really the motivation behind writing Bet on Yourself was to democratize success, democratize entrepreneurism, and to wake up inside all of us, realizing that whether you're an intrepreneur working in another company, or if you're a more traditional quote, unquote entrepreneur - it doesn't have to be in a garage or getting funding from traditional VC companies. I wanted to wake that up in as many minds as possible that we can make a huge difference. No matter your expertise, your industry, your risk tolerance, there are ways that we can all participate in this, and what we need most, especially now when core algorithms of artificial intelligence are being written, is more participation from more perspectives.Whether that's cultural...every possible definition of diversity. I want more people participating because what concerns me most about globalization is it's being controlled by about 10 people."Ann Hiatt is a best selling author, executive consultant, speaker, and investor.
