You have the power to manifest anything you want in this life. In this very special episode, Rob explores the art of manifestation through clarity, and explains how you can practice it in just 5 steps. The clearer your vision of your desired future, the more likely you are to manifest it through your actions. Manifestation isn't just wishing and hoping for an outcome you want to come true — it's a skill developed over time. You must create a vivid mental image of your desired future, immerse yourself in it, and trick your mind and body into believing it's real. Rob, a living testament to manifestation, emphasizes that it's about feeling, sensing, and deeply believing in its inevitability. It's when your mind and body cannot tell the difference between that which you imagine in great detail and that which is actually happening. So, the more you practice detailed manifestation over and over, while taking action to achieve them, the universe will begin to listen.
We are creative beings. We must create. Sometimes people think of creativity as the realm of writers and painters and the like. How, whether through action or inaction, we create the present moment we find ourselves in. As it turns out, that truth carries with it a great deal of power and a message of hope that no matter our situation, better moments are just a simple change away… Learn more about this episode. In case you were wondering, the time to think about Financial Freedom is NOW. Rob is the first to admit it. There are a lot more enticing things to do with money than to save. In this episode Rob Dyrdek opens up about his sub-par financial habits, what he changed in his life, and how something as seemingly stodgy as Financial planning actually enriched his life. We are the Creators of our Future So much of life can feel like it's beyond our control. That is a completely valid feeling. But the truth is that as self creationists we accept that feeling while recognizing that there are things that we, in fact, CAN control. One of them is how we evolve as people. “You don't go through life, you GROW through life.” is an oft heard -ism that doesn't offer a lot in the way of advice. Can a single decision really change your entire life? Yes. The answer is yes. And Rob is here to tell you about the single solitary decision that changed his life and set him on the path to great success and happiness. But it is not just a decision to make and forget about, that would be magic, and this is only sort of magic. It is about making a strong commitment to yourself and to your life. A commitment to your every day that you continue to do and never stop and never look back. It is a perpetual decision that continues to pay out better and better dividends the longer you do it. The spoils become more and more valuable over time. Your life improves steadily until the moment it ends. If you've read this far, you probably want to know what it is. What do you actually control in this life? And how can you control more of it? We are all constantly told to focus only on those things we can control, and ignore those we cannot. But understanding what parts of our life we do actually control may be simpler than you realize. Rob is here to tell you that it's nothing more than these forces: your thoughts, actions and emotions. That's literally it. Everything you have control over in your entire life is one of those three things. In this episode, we talk through how these essential elements integrate to make up your entire existence. Also, how you can gain control of each of them and make them work together to control a much greater portion of your life. Are you depressed? Or did you just lose momentum? Momentum is more important to your existence and your happiness than you may realize. It is the thing that drives you toward the future you desire. If you maintain forward motion, you don't have time to dwell. But when you stop, you stagnate and leave room for anxiety to creep in. If you find yourself moving backward, you could be on the road to depression. In this episode, Rob details how to always keep momentum going, constantly moving forward toward a better future and a harmonious life. As a key driver of wellbeing, momentum is volatile, and thus can be lost or reversed if not actively maintained. The key is to understand momentum, what it feels like, and how to perpetuate it every day to avoid disruption and escalate progress. Learn more about this episode. Do you understand the structure of your energy? The driving force of your life is energy. And the more you understand what it is, and the difference between feeling high quality energy and low quality or negative energy, the better you can optimize your life for the former. In this episode, Rob dives in on the components that determine the quality of your energy. When you have knowledge about what you're doing, when you truly understand something, it makes it easy, success is more likely, and that provides high quality energy. When you're clear about your goals and where you're going, you can get excited and feel more motivated about every step it takes to get there. These factors contribute to belief that you will achieve next steps. Versus, when your future aspirations are vague, you don't really understand the thing you're trying to do, and thus you don't have any logical reason to believe in yourself. These things create low quality energy, make everything harder, and prevent you from living the life you deserve. Learn more about this episode. Health has as much effect on how you think as it does on how you look. When we think about improving our health, it is most often associated with looking better and generally feeling better. But there is also a direct correlation between the quality of your health and the quality of your decision-making. When you are eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep, your mind is clearer. When your brain is sharp, you procrastinate less, you process information faster, you contextualize inputs properly, and you're able to be more decisive in important moments. Setting your mind up for consistent, successful decision-making will ultimately have a compounding positive effect on your overall life. Automate your way toward energy neutrality and effortlessness. The reality is that you have limited time and energy to deploy on this thing you call your life. They are both finite resources. And even if you don't realize it, you are constantly driving aspects of your life toward a state of energy neutral. Unfortunately, bad habits and destructive systems can be a part of this if you don't consciously control them. The elements that have a profoundly positive effect on your life, such as your health and fitness, diet, and clarity of goals, take effort up front, but if you are able to automate them toward energy neutrality, you can improve your everyday life with little to no effort on an ongoing basis. This episode is a deep dive into the process and philosophy of systematizing and automating the net positive aspects, and identifying and eliminating the negative habits to achieve a more fulfilling, effortless existence. What is it that you most want to manifest? In this episode, Rob takes us on a deep dive into what it takes to manifest that which you desire, through the lens of clarity. The clearer you are in knowing what you want the future to be, the more likely you will be able to manifest it through your present and future actions. Manifestation is not just wishing or hoping something will happen and expecting the desired result. It is a skill that must be developed over time, working in tandem with a crystal clear picture of how one wishes to shape the future. It requires the ability to place yourself in the future in your mind, feel the feelings, smell the smells, hear the sounds, and trick your mind into believing the images you conjure are real. Whether or not you believe in magic, by learning to manifest through clarity and practice, it sure can seem like it. Learn more about this episode. How well do you really know yourself? The year was 2014. Rob Dyrdek is in his late 30's and supremely confident that he knows himself inside and out. Then, he takes a personality assessment. And his whole world is turned upside down. The results became the catalyst to build the strategy and design the life he lives at an incredibly high level today. In this episode, Rob shares the deep insights he received from that first and subsequent personality assessments that have shaped and refined the way he approaches building and designing his business and his life. It's not just about the results, it's about what you do with the results. How you apply them. How they validate your strengths and highlight weaknesses you may not be able to independently admit to yourself. The present is yours to use how you see fit. This episode is all about driving your mind into the center, creating balance, and allowing you to experience the present moment at the highest level. It's about more than just trying to force yourself to stay in the moment and experience what is happening. It's about learning to control the present moment with the intention of enhancing future present moments, in which you will experience more joy. You won't always be planning for the future. The best use of a particular present may be simply relaxing and clearing your mind. It may be dealing with an issue from the past, or it may be strategizing. The point is to control your present in a way that you can intentionally use it with purpose. You design your life, design your time, design how you want to expend your limited energy, and all of that culminates to master your present experience. Learn more about this episode. Are you really as self-aware as you think you are? Self-awareness is fundamental to achieving happiness in life. If you don't know who you are, or think you're something you're not, you will not have the proper perspective through which to make decisions. First you must recognize who you are, and that it is different than who you ultimately want to be. You have to get specific about your strategy to become more self-aware. The next step is then becoming time-aware, and understanding the value of your time and how to maximize the quality of it. This is achieved through energy awareness, realizing how the ways in which you spend your time affect you emotionally in the moment. Optimizing for these aspects, and others detailed in the episode, over time, can lead you to becoming Ultra-Aware. This is the state that opens the door to success and happiness. In this very special episode, Rob reflects on the origins of the show, how it evolved, and what he's learned along the way. As a show that spent its early days interviewing Dyrdek Machine portfolio founders, it soon began leaning into advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. But as Rob continued honing his life philosophy, working on a book, designing software, it became clear where the show needed to go moving forward. As it turned into the show you've enjoyed and learned from over the past year, everything seems to be aligning. Make it simple. Make it measurable. Make yourself happy. If you create simplicity and measurability in several areas of your life, you will then be able to strategize how to achieve those goals, resulting in happiness upon completing those goals. Then you're able to set new, simple goals, measure success, and create even more happiness. It's a process Rob calls Quantified Joy. In this episode, Rob takes us through his process of creating measurable outcomes and then allowing the numbers to inform the strategy and track the progress. The more you make incremental progress toward those goals, which you can only track if they are quantifiable, the more motivated you become, and the faster you achieve them. The output: Joy. The more you implement this practice in various parts of your life, the more joy you will experience through achievement, and thus the happier your life will become. Learn more about this episode. It's probably a lot less than you think… Have you ever wondered how much you really make per hour of work? It's a bit more complicated than dividing your salary by 40 hours per week. First of all, there's the obligatory taxes we all pay, so subtract those–that money goes straight into Uncle Sam's sizable pockets. Next, you have to account not just for said supposed 40 hour work week, but also the actual amount of time and energy you spend thinking about work, preparing, networking, training, and everything else that contributes to your ability to generate income. Why would Rob spend an entire episode talking about this? Because at the center of his philosophy is Financial Harmony. This means designing your financial life in a way that allows you to maximize your time and energy to spend on things you most enjoy while still generating wealth. In this episode, Rob shares his secrets to creating financial harmony, and provides his playbook to work hard and save harder. Learn more about this episode. A simple technique that reveals extraordinary insights about your life. Asking yourself how you feel about something on a scale from 1-10 is about as simple as it gets. But this practice, if applied consistently over time, begins to show you insights about your overall life, or aspects of your life, that you can then continue to improve to better your overall experience. You can begin with “how do I feel about my life overall today?” as a more general way to start, or you can get more specific. “How do I feel about my relationship today?” “How do I feel about my health and wellbeing today?” “How do I feel about work today?” In this episode, Rob provides a breakdown of the scale he uses to generate consistent results, which over time, illustrate the ups and downs of his existence. This allows him to target elements of each aspect he tracks and identify things that repeatedly cause lower ratings. Developing qualitative awareness can lead to a much higher quality of life. Knowledge is power. But learning with the intention of making your life better is a superpower. We tend to spend an incredible amount of time learning things that have no applicable value to betting our lives. One may call it gathering useless knowledge. While that could make us the hero on trivia night, it does nothing to aid our evolution into a better version of ourselves. Dedicating an inordinate amount of time to researching characters from your favorite TV show or learning everything about golf does nothing to better your overall experience. However, dedicating the same amount of time wasted across many meaningless such pursuits instead to understanding yourself, your work or your time better creates real, tangible value. Learning a new skill set you can apply to increase the value you bring to the world and therefore benefit from personally. These are the aspects of life that provide the fruit of a better, more meaningful existence. Thus, when you focus on enhancing them through organized, purposeful learning, the rewards are exponentially higher. Learn more about this episode. Time is the canvas of your entire existence. Thinking about time design as life design, and using the metaphor of time being the canvas on which you get to paint your life however you want it to be, opens up unlimited possibilities. You are the artist, and by designing your time, you have the opportunity to create the life you desire. It's not just about efficient scheduling day to day. It's actually much broader. If you look at your time more holistically in the past, present and future, you can actually begin to design the evolution of how you spend your time, which equates directly to your quality of life. What percentage of your life do you want to spend working, or devoting to family or health ten or fifteen years from now? It may seem impossible to predict, but if you design it, and create a deliberate path to achieve it, then such goals are absolutely within your grasp. Learn more about this episode. Optimizing what you can control can protect you from what you can't. Your life is a series of interconnected systems that connect with other larger systems, which connect with even larger global systems. The farther away from you these systems are, the less ability you have to control them. However, by optimizing the systems you have the most control over, you can lessen the effect of those larger, uncontrollable systems on your life. Rob breaks these systems down into 3 orders: First Order systems are those you have complete control over – your habits, your spending, your diet, etc. Second Order systems you have some control over, such as your job. Third Order systems are so big, you have zero control over them, like the weather or the global economy. In this episode, Rob explains how the mastery your First Order systems will ultimately determine the quality of your life. Learn more about this episode. Are you overwhelmed, or are you out of capacity? It's time to change the way you think about being overwhelmed. No matter how much you have going on around you, it comes down to the amount of things you can handle at once. That is the limit of your capacity. When you run over your capacity, your mind essentially breaks. It drives you, without your consent, into irrational thought, poor decision making, and overreactions to stimuli. You try to do too much, you end up in a worse place, not a better one. There's no medal for being the most overwhelmed. Even Rob finds himself occasionally awash in outrageous, unrealistic thoughts when he tips over his capacity limit. As he will explain in this episode, the key is to understand your limits and instead of pushing past them, optimize your life for increased energy and capacity so that you never go too far. The more you understand about your goals, the faster you can realize them. There is a very direct correlation between the holistic understanding of your goals and the speed at which they can be achieved. The more you know about every aspect of your goals, the more likely you are to bring them to life. An issue that many people run into is setting a plan to achieving a goal without full knowledge of the challenges that lie ahead, and only understand the faults in that plan when it becomes clear it's not going to work and it's too late to pivot. Similarly, we can grind out a goal blindly moment to moment without a full perspective on how to accelerate progress, and that becomes draining. The key is to put in the effort, time and energy into understanding every possible nuance of your goals up front until it becomes incredibly clear as to how it can be achieved. It is possible. And the keys to unlock this state are discipline, consistency and commitment to life mastery. To be clear, this is not something that will be achieved overnight. It requires a great deal of conscious effort to get to a place where your days are optimized to provide energy and your evenings are dialed in to provide a proper wind down and prepare you for yet another extraordinary day. Rob's approach includes a super clean diet, devoid of alcohol, sugar and snacks, only lean proteins, vegetables, water and supplements (and a little coffee). At the time of this recording, he was on a 5 week stretch of perfect diet and perfect sleep. He's currently on a stretch of months of pure discipline, and has never had more energy or clarity in his life. In this episode, Rob details how he got to this place and how you can too. Happiness is a hard thing to define historically. But Rob defines it as experiencing joy in the present moment on a consistent basis. Then you have a happy life. And it sounds simple, but a lot goes into achieving this much sought after state of being. Living a life with intention, ensuring you define your time to allow room to do things that bring you feelings of joy, creating a balanced and harmonious existence. The default way we tend to get in a rhythm tends to cram all of our joyful moments in between work ending and going to sleep when we feel a relief from responsibility. And if that's the only joy we get, then we're in trouble. If you're only hunting these pockets of joy, it makes happiness seem elusive, like something that you need to constantly chase. But integrating these moments of joy into your overall existence, to be experienced more consistently throughout each day, is the key to elevating your sense of overall happiness in your life. Goals can be boring and rigid and overly tactical. The constant pursuit of goals can become monotonous or downright mind numbing at times. In this episode, Rob shares his technique for taking all those goals and aggregating them under a common theme. He applies themes to years, and even decades to encapsulate those goals in something larger and more exciting. Even when goals are specifically linked to different aspects of your life such as family, health and work, they can still be tied together under an overarching theme. It's a unique method to align all of your energy in a clear direction that will ultimately help you to not only achieve individual goals, but to evolve and grow toward the best version of your life. We all know the feeling of friction, or resistance in our life. It's those things or people that grate on us over and over. Recurring events or ongoing relationships in our personal lives or work that continuously drain our energy. We start to dread those things, and that has an emotional and energetic effect on the quality of our entire existence. The first step is to become attuned to the aspects of your life that are causing the friction, and try to work out why. Then figure out how you can actively create change in the situation to lessen the friction. These solutions are often evolutions in the system of systems that make up our lives. Too often, we approach these elements in the same way again and again, expecting a different result. But in order to break the cycle, there needs to be a deep understanding of the core problem, and a proactive solution devised and implemented in order to take that energy back and enhance the quality of your existence. In this episode, Rob shares the ways in which he goes about this process in his own life and work. Learn more about this episode. Changing with intention is all about taking control of inevitable change, doing so actively with a goal in mind, as opposed to waiting until it's too late and change is forced upon you. Forced change is typically unexpected, and that puts you in a state of being reactive, which, depending on the scale of the change, can be incredibly disruptive to your life. If you can assess your life and decide where to make proactive changes, you maintain control and can guide that change into contributing to your goal of creating a better, more harmonious future-present state. You will never be able to control all change, especially in the world around you, but if you constantly assess the systems that make up your life and evolve them with intention on an ongoing basis, you will be in a better position to react when forced change comes. Going through that process of assessing and creating positive change will ultimately build a higher quality existence. Learn more about this episode. Habits get a bad rap. They're often seen and expressed in terms of things you do on an ongoing basis that you shouldn't. But Rob is here to tell you that we need to rebrand habits into things you do as an initial stepping stone to a much more profound way of living. The definition of a habit is: a regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. If those habits are additive to your life and overall goals, and they're hard to give up because they give you energy or improve your life, then those are good habits to have. Now there are still the bad ones, both ingrained from an early age and developed over time, and those can be dealt with. But the important thing to understand is that your system of habits make up your lifestyle. The more intuitive and second nature you can make your best habits, while eliminating the bad ones, the better lifestyle you will achieve. Make your best habits effortless, and they will simply comprise the way you live. Learn more about this episode. Subscribe to Dyrdek Machine Join our Machinist Community Want to be on the show? On this episode, Rob explores an important thesis with respect to the mind. Our entire existence is both experienced and controlled by the mind. And he believes that the mind operates on 4 different levels, which determine our experience in the world. The present state of your mind on this spectrum affects your decision-making, your reaction to outside stimuli, your discipline, and many other factors. Level 1 - The Reactive Mind: The state of only dealing with what comes at you, trying to get through the day. Not making any substantial progress but treading water, so as not to fall behind. This state zaps your energy the fastest with little to show for it but survival. Level 2 - The Aware Mind: You at least have an idea of what you need to do in order to be proactive and move your life and goals forward, but taking action is still hit or miss. Level 3 - The Proactive Mind: You are actually doing the things you need to do to push your goals forward. Pushing through in a deliberate way to achieve your goals. The work is hard, but it delivers results. Level 4 - The Magnetic Mind: The holy grail of mind states. The answers are being drawn right to you, and the execution feels effortless. Maintaining this elusive mind state allows you to evolve your existence on a significantly higher level. Learn more about this episode. Being ultra present is not just about being in the moment. It's about developing the skill to step way back and feeling every aspect of that moment. How does one experience the world in a deeper and more vibrant way? Rob really started thinking about this concept after he read The Greatest Secret book by Rhonda Byrne, which he distilled down to the idea that awareness is everything. When you shift your perpetual state from trying to think about all the things going on around you, and instead focus on the feeling of a larger state of awareness of your world, there is a dramatic shift in consciousness that occurs. When you can expand your mind in this way, it creates a deep amplification of your reality. Learn more about this episode. Personal capacity is both mental and physical. There are limits to both, and those limits are unique to every individual. The more you are able to understand what those limitations are for you, the better you can stay within your capacity and avoid feelings of being overwhelmed or exhausted or burned out. When we get overwhelmed, we question our decisions, we become erratic, we don't think things through as well, and that can compound quickly. But when you operate within your capacity, you can remain clear headed, confident, and energetic at all times. But it is the ability to define your capacity and then design a system to first operate within it, but then to slowly increase it over time. In this episode, Rob details how to self assess to understand your capacity and design a life that is optimized for it. Learn more about this episode. You can be wealthy and still not have financial harmony. This was the situation Rob found himself in, where he made money, but also spent money and felt the pressure of needing to continue to grind to continuously make more and more. It was when he designed and implemented the financial system he still operates on today that that pressure was relieved and he was truly able to work smarter rather than harder. Financial freedom comes back to security. The security of not having to work anymore if you don't want to. But the tendency as you make more is to spend more because you can. However, if you set clear goals and have a financial framework in place, you can achieve the harmony that ultimately leads to the freedom you seek. In this episode, Rob details how he was able to achieve this harmony and lays out a roadmap for you to do the same. Learn more about this episode. But wait, how can a goal be a living thing? A goal has a lifespan, it evolves and changes, and it requires nurturing and care in order to make into the best version of itself. Just like us. Your goals are always shifting and moving based on new information and external factors beyond your control. Even the simplest goals can face unexpected complications, and the more ambitious goals can become exponentially more complex. That's why being flexible and treating your goals not as a black and white checklist that must be achieved in order on an exact timeline, but rather as a living, breathing thing that requires patience to guide it to fruition, is the most effective way to pursue them. As Rob says, you need to be diligent, but you also need to give yourself a break. Choose a reasonable timeline and allow it to shift as need be. Accomplishing goals is not binary, it's not pass/fail. It is an ongoing process that requires consistent attention and recrafting as scenarios naturally change over time. Learn more about this episode. Swinging back and forth from savor to sacrifice can be inescapable for people who are hard workers. When your personal identity is connected to your work ethic and output, and you are driven by success, you know sacrifice. Then, of course, when you have time to relax, it's only natural to go to the other extreme. In either case, work or play, when you go too hard into one end of the spectrum, the inertia to move back to the other can take a lot of energy. It is balance and harmony that allows one to move from one to the other seamlessly without being disruptive. The other danger with these extremes, devoid of balance, is the very real possibility of getting trapped on one side or the other. Either only working or only enjoying yourself, neither of which is sustainable in the long term. The best way to maintain and grow the best version of yourself is to create that harmony and never move too far to one side for too long. Learn more about this episode. We all know that we change over time, usually at an imperceptible pace, only noticing when we look back at who we were many years prior and see a stark contrast. We react to changes in external factors and that naturally shapes who we are over time. And it may seem that we don't have any control over this process, but Rob is here to tell you that you absolutely do. Not only that, taking control over your own evolution is the key to becoming who you ultimately want to be. It is about getting yourself into a constant cycle of experiencing, reflecting, and then implementing changes. Evolution is a process whether you allow it to happen naturally or you take the steps to guide it by applying the knowledge gained from experience. It doesn't matter if your learnings come from success or failure. When it comes to evolution, both are equally valuable as long as you have the right perspective. Ultimately, proactively guiding your own evolution will grow and expand you into a higher level of existence. Learn more about this episode.
