“Let your light shine before all people.”
John 21:1-19 is one of the greatest moments in the Bible. Jesus comes to get Peter who tried to go back to normal after the cross and fish: God did not want Him, or you and me to go back to normal after encountering the Risen Christ! “Yet the third time, Jesus uses Peter's word Phileo for the question “Do you love me.” Put in modern terms, Jesus asks Peter the third time if Jesus is still Peter's friend even after everything that has happened on the cross, and that, sends Peter into a state of weeping.”
Who are you showing up for this week? Remember who you carry! God and His Holy Spirit is with you, therefore you are never alone, and that any situation anyone is facing can always change because of His presence you carry. Click below to hear the rest of the sermon. Have a great day!
Good Friday is “the day of days” in the Christian faith! May we slow down and reflect on why Jesus died for you and me, and give him glory that by grace, His tomb, ours, is empty! Thanks Smith Chapel and our Alliance for the opportunity to preach.
Today's sermon. Have a blessed week! “God's greatest resource for encouraging and saving other sinners is the Holy Spirit working through us, His church. Now, let's briefly define what the church is, the church is not only a museum. It's not a place where you only just take care of what you have, maintain what you have, etc. Church is also not only a club when you only advertise to the community “To come hear our music, come hear our specials.” The church is a hospital that combines the best of both! The church is a place where sinners come and say “I have heard of what you have in Christ, I need it or I'm going to be in trouble. I need the Holy Spirit you have, within me!” The Church is a place where people say “I have seen and heard how well you care for your people within, and I need that care for me! I need your Doctor you call Jesus to change my life!” That is the greatness we inherit from Christ, to be a part of His church.”
Often times when we miss that job interview, mess up that relationship, or don't get that opportunity we thought we deserved, we think God is holding out on us. The text today already says “no!” God wants to bless His church (Ephesians 1:3,5). Gods blessing is in His grace loves us enough to deploy all means at His disposal to bless and adopt sinners to himself.
May Christ bind us mercifully to Himself in 2025. Paul's letter to the Colossians reveals two pathways for the church, and us, to hold on to Jesus. May we love people and God's word well!
We pray that today's week 1 Advent message is a blessing to you. May we wait on and anticipate the way of Christ this season. Thanks to my daughter Brooklyn for filling in reading the Word today!
Happy Thanksgiving from FMC-Mineola! We pray this message is a blessing for you this week.
Friends, thanks for listening today! May Jesus plead on your behalf and teach you this week. “Question 20 of our Global Methodist Catechism states that one of our core beliefs as Methodists is “we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life.” This strong, optimistic teaching of Jesus advocating for sinners brings up an important point: the greatest chance Christians have for a better life is Christ's presence. When Paul wrote the Philippians church to “Rejoice always” He was not ignoring their problems, far from it. Paul rejoices because what He now has in the presence of Jesus, is life-changing! “But whatever I gained, I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ”-Philippians 3:7-8. Church, it is important you understand this. Christ as our greatest gift, as our advocate, changes lives. Has He changed yours?”
Good stuff in worship today! Notes to consider 1. God is not punishing you when He cuts stuff or people out of your life. Pruning promotes fruitful living in Jesus, it does not hinder it. 2.When God our Gardner prunes our life is just as important as His ability to act at all. 3. Choose to remain in the vine, however long it takes! Have a blessed week!
“As the bread of life, Jesus is “life and life giving.” That is exactly what John Wesley teaches in his New Testament notes about John 6:35. When exploring Jesus as the bread of life, it is important to ask the question “What does the bread of Jesus do?” His bread is not about satisfying physical hunger! The Greek word for life is Zoe, it is the same word used in Luke's Gospel 16:25 when the angelic Abraham tells the sinner that Lazarus is comforted. With this in mind, friends, I can confidently tell you that life in Jesus is everywhere…”Click the link to hear the rest of the sermon. Thanks for listening!
Thanks for listening to Celebration worship ! Join us today as we continue our metaphors of Jesus series as we preach through one of the most iconic stories in the Bible, the story of the Samaritan Woman. We hope it is a blessing! -Reader for Celebration worship: Wynn Harle
Friends, we are grateful you are tuning in to listen to the final message in our “Creed” series. What is our highest hope as Christians? How can we obtain it? We hope you are blessed by today's message! Have a blessed week.
Thankful for George Brigmans heart for Christ and his friendship with the Thomas family! Here is the audio of his message “Love never fails.” The video you can watch here https://www.facebook.com/share/v/TqPG9DwrHQv4fWaD/?mibextid=WC7FNe
Here is the audio for the sermon today. Grateful for Christ and His Holy Spirit pulling so many elements together to make our combined service happen. As we live up to who we are as a church and you offer Christ to all who will hear: “Be steadfast, immovable, abounding (!) in the work of the Lord, knowing your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”- 1 Corinthians 15:58.
Thanks for listening today! Today we continue our “Creed” series by exploring what we mean as Global Methodists when we say we believe in the Holy Spirit. What does “living in life and peace” (Romans 8:6) through the Holy Spirit look like? We hope you will listen and be encouraged that God is still at work in His church and that His Holy Spirit still supplies our every need.
We are continuing a very good series on the essentials of our faith in the Global Methodist Church by exploring our Apostles Creed. In the last few weeks, we have asked vital questions such as “Who is God?” “Who is Jesus?” This week, we visit about how Jesus was born, and to a larger degree, the comfort the doctrine of the Virgin Birth gives a believer. We are going to walk away from worship today not only strengthening our faith in how Jesus came, but be encouraged in our daily walk. Make sure you keep listening for a spine tingling rendition of Charles Wesleys “And Can it Be That I Should Gain?” from the congregation. Especially the acapella refrain at the end!!
May the living Christ inspire you today! Have a blessed morning.
It was a great Celebration service! Dont always scheme your way out of trouble folks. May we repent and seek the wisdom of others who have been there before in Christ, Have a blessed day!
It was a great Celebration worship service this morning. Who are you going to love this week? May Christ be the center of your decisions. Have a blessed day! Off to traditional worship. A surprise for worship at that service awaits! “ If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. The Apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman Empire, the great men who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the Slave Trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with Heaven. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in': aim at earth and you will get neither.”— Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
Don't be afraid to obey today! You may lose everything, but in Christ you will find life worth having. Have a good one!
We had a glorious Celebration worship service! Remember, in our darkest moments, God is working things out! May he find us being accountable and walking His road respectfully and truthfully (2 Tim 1:13, 1 Peter 3:15).
“Remember what you have been taught…”- 2 Timothy 3:14. A wonderful service today! Remember, our authority is Christ and His Word “against which all other authorities must be measured.” The history, and the reasons why this is so are there. May God find us faithful as we find them! Like, share, and have a blessed day!
It was a terrific Celebration service of worship! Don't be afraid of judgement folks. The Resurrected Christ will put all things right, and will push us until we become more like Him. Such is the manner of grace.Have a good day!
What makes peace possible? For Christians, and all who find success, only one way is needed! ““(Jesus) is the true light, coming into the world, and gives light to every man. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.”John 1:9, 14. Like, share, and have a good day!
Folks, we may not always understand the Trinity, that leaves zero excuse to not try, or worse, redefine it! The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit do not lose track! As Augustine put it, “Our God is everywhere!” Have a blessed day! Remember to like and share so more folks know what's going on at First Methodist- Mineola!
It was a great day of Celebration worship!!
As always, a great morning of Celebration worship! Remember, influence is better than presence! Jesus left earth not because He didn't love the disciples, but because he left such a mark that would eventually build a church for 20 centuries! What a track record! That's a God worth trusting! Influence the world for Jesus today. Have a good one! Remember to like and share!!
A wonderful celebration service! Be the type of Christian that through the power of the Holy Spirt, seeks to change people with your character. “By your fruits you shall know them” is a teaching from Jesus on HOW you produce fruit, not just making it!
Thanks be to God the church is built on one teaching! Christ has died, Christ has Risen, Christ will come again! All who believe in Christ are a part of it! THAT is Good news! Enjoy and have a blessed day!
How does one accurately sum up the light of Christ? Thankful our Celebration service realizes there is no debate! Scripture is our rule, if all the Bible's in the world disappeared, the Apostles Creed would be our training to remember scripture! To that end, the Apostles Creed will be a part of our “training in Christ” before prayer time at celebration worship starting next week! His light is eternal! May we not neglect it. Have a good week'
It was a glorious, incredible final day Of worship at Carroll Springs! Father in Heaven, keep the church together, keep your body together, and most importantly help us remember our commitment is to you! Worthy is the Lamb! Notes: Rhiannon and John sing Karaoke version of Agnus Dei at the start of the recording.
We are kicking off the final two weeks of worship for the Thomas family in Carroll Springs UMC! As I told the church this morning, when I am speechless I read about Christ crucified. Which is never a bad way to go. He is the heart! And with Him we have no cause to be afraid (John 14:27).
It’s been a long 11 weeks! How appropriate that we are opening worship on the day according to tradition the Holy Spirit poured out on the disciples committed to Jesus. Listen, share, and glory to God who gave birth to his church in the midst of chaos!
It’s been a long 10 weeks of drive in and internet worship. Local conditions are strongly dictating how the body of Christ handles in person worship. For us, it’s fitting that we celebrate Ascension and Aldersgate Sunday. Christ is more personal and powerful than He could have been staying on earth (otherwise He would have stayed!) If so, can we be patient, gentle, and bold as a way to honor Christ as we open back up? I hope so! Let it be so! In Christ’s name we pray and whom we give glory! Remember to like and share!
The New Birth: Respect and the truth.”- Acts 17:22-31. It was a good day today! It takes a lot of energy to be respectful, but the Gospel of Jesus makes respect not only worth pursuing, but also teaching others the truth in a respectful way! For only “He bore the blame!” Remember to like, share, have a blessed week!!
“Rejected and chosen: the Christian identity.”- 1 Peter 2:1-10. Losses are starting to mount for Christians in the world right now. Rejection, being told no is running rampant, do we have a resource to handle that? The Bible says we do! “Declare His light, for you are chosen” Peter says. Good news worth sharing in our era!!! Remember to like and share!Closing Hymn “Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing”
What should believers be paying attention to in our current environment? In the shadow of the Roman Empire and Jerusalem government that at the time deemed Christianity illegal : Believers focused on the death and Ressurection of Jesus, not alone, but together! And were happy to do so! Like, share, and pay attention to what lifts up Christ this week! Who can do more than what we ask! Closing hymn: Blessed Assurance.
Some good memories in the message today! Even remembering that Methodists believe that my children who were baptized by Dad are all others who are as well, are under the atonement! Remain the same, and life is over. But change? That’s the way of truth, it’s the way of Jesus. We hope you are blessed by listening today! I apologize for not recording on the phone today. I had to dump the YouTube audio into an MP3 converter. So the audio will sound a bit different, and I left in the final hymn.
I love Easter season, because that means we don’t focus on Jesus rising from the dead on just one day. It also means, because Jesus has risen ,examining why we should be different because of this world changing event. If Christ is not a priority or your hope after raising from the dead, you are lost. If He is your priority, then hope is a good thing! Even the best of things! And a good thing never dies!- Shawshank Redemption. Remember to like and share our hope in Jesus this week!
Christ is Risen! He has Risen Indeed! Almighty God give me strength to testify what your Mighty Son has done for me! #Like #Share #Testify #DevotedtoHim
It’s Holy Week for a people in desperate need of Good news! It’s simple, we can’t save ourselves physically and spiritually! Yet! The Bible talks about the God who can do both. Listen, share, and give glory for the Christ who saves! Before the message: Rhiannon and John sing Casting Crowns Karaoke track “Glorious Day.”
The awesome imagery of Ezekiel 37 begs two questions from us. 1. How does God bring life and change? 2. What odds is God willing to work with? In week two of Corona Virus worship, the answers are profoundly comforting! Remember to like and share!
A different recording today! Straight from the YouTube audio! I’ll remember to turn on audio on my phone next week! Father in Heaven, move in the homes of your people! May we have a deep appreciation not only for your Word, but for your people on earth that we have taken for granted far to long! Break this curse on the earth, through your Son who gives life to the dead (2 Timothy 1:10). Amen.
In an unprecedented time, we have assurance we are not alone. We have a relationship with the Lord! So did the Samaritan woman in John 4. We aren’t alone folks. Christ’s Cross makes sure of it.
Christian life is not for copy cats! Our righteousness and goodness comes from one source. We hope you are blessed by listening today! Like, share, and remember the God who has suffered for you!!
The message of Lent is believers in Christ are sinners, but we have a guide to help us remember who we are! And the guide has a name..... Remember to like and share!
