Daniel's Prayer Was “seeking him {God} by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting . . . ‘O Lord, the great and awesome God . . . we have sinned and done wrong'” MESSAGE SUMMARY: There are times when you need clarity, understanding, knowledge and insights from God about the specific issues that you, your family, your church, or your country are facing. In your personal relationship with God as a Jesus Follower, the Lord will speak to you; but sometimes it takes your listening and fasting to hear Him. For example, when Joel received a Word when the land was to be destroyed, he called a fast (i.e. Joel 1:14): “Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.”. Some things you are facing in your life must be dealt with by both prayer and fasting. Fasting releases a spiritual power – in your weakness, God is made strong in your life. Daniel's prayer, from Daniel 9:3-5, provides a context for asking direction from God: “Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, ‘O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.'". TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, Sabbath rest is truly an unbelievable gift! Thank you that there is nothing I can do to earn your love; it comes without any strings attached. As I close my eyes for these few minutes before you, all I can say is, thank you! In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 133). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. Psalm 29Emmanuel TamburroDavid reminds us of the importance of turning our eyes from thechallenges and difficulties of life and focusing on the greatness and awesomeness of God. God is not in trouble; he's not trying to figure out what to do; he's not scared of the issues of life like you and me; he's not confused; he's not aloof, but he's alive and actively involved in his creation. He never changes; he's the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our God is an awesome God. Whatever your situation, whether you are a believer or skeptic, I want to know and experience the awesomeness of God in your life.
Expressed in song, “Our God is an Awesome God,” one is in awe of the gifts only from God and we should be desiring and embracing them daily. This is part one of two.

3/30/2025 Psalms 3 What An Awesome God We Serve Intro: The historical background to the psalm is described in 2 Samuel 15—17. Though David petitioned in verse 7, Arise, O Lord; save me, it is clear from 2 Samuel 15:32–37 that David shrewdly sent his friend Hushai back to Jerusalem to deceive Absalom. David used tricks of the trade….. but trusted only in God. I love the Song….Our God is an awesome God! He reigns from Heaven above….. with wonder, power and love…..our God is an awesome God! He truly is and we don't realize one tenth of one percent of how great He is! David gives us a glimpse in this passage.

Awesome God (Exodus 7-10)
Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 18 minutesSynopsis: This morning (2/7/25), in our tefilah-focused Machshavah Lab series for women, we continued our analysis of the first berachah of the Amidah. Since it's been a while, we began by reviewing what we covered last time, refining it in the process. We then focused on three explanations of "the Great, Mighty, and Awesome God" - two given by the Eitz Yosef and another by Sforno - and we developed some excellent ideas. I'm really happy with the pace and depth of our Amidah analysis, and look forward to continuing (בג"ה)!-----מקורות:ברכת אבות נוסח אשכנזעץ יוסףרש"י - דברים ו:דרמב"ם - ספר המדע, הלכות תשובה ה:בספורנו - דברים י:יז-----The Torah content for the entire month of February has been sponsored by Y.K. with gratitude to Rabbi Schneeweiss for providing a clear and easily accessible path to personal growth via his reliably interesting and inspiring Torah content.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: Double-Sided WisdomDevotional: 4 of 5Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. (2 Corinthians 3:4-5)We're in a series exploring five pieces of “double-sided wisdom” we see throughout God's Word. Today we come to the paradoxical couplet of biblical charges to Be Confident AND Stay Humble. The call to confidence is found in passages like 2 Timothy 1:7 which says that “the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power.” But you can hear the flip side of this double-sided wisdom—the call to humility—in passages like Ephesians 4:2: “Be completely humble and gentle.”How do we reconcile these two seemingly conflicting commands? By recognizing that the source of our confidence is the Lord! That's what Paul is telling us in today's passage. His confidence in his work was not sourced in what he thought of himself or what others said about him. His confidence and competence came from God. So it is with you and me. We don't exude confidence at work because we think we're awesome. We're confident because we humbly recognize it is the Awesome God who works in and through us (see Philippians 2:13).So, what does it look like practically to model both confidence and humility in the workplace? Here are three ideas.#1: Set bigger, more God-honoring goals. Christians should be known for setting the biggest goals on the planet. Because we are confident that God is able to do “immeasurably more than we…imagine” through us (Ephesians 3:20). And the bigger our goals, the more we will be humbly driven to our knees, forced to rely on the Lord.#2: Stay confident that you can but humble that you know how. It's one thing to be confident about the vision you think God has called you to at work. It's another thing to be arrogant about how to get that work done. Christians should be set apart in holding the “how” of projects loosely, open to the wisdom God has given to believers and non-believers alike.#3: Boast about your weaknesses. It's become cliche when you're asked in an interview, “What's your greatest weakness?” to reply with a strength disguised as a weakness. But what if you boasted about an actual weakness and pointed out how, despite that fault, God has enabled you to achieve so much in your career? That would preach! And it would be following Paul's example of boasting in weaknesses “so that Christ's power may rest on [you]” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Confidence and humility need not be opposites for the believer. Embody both as God works through you today!
