Eclectic Soul is a 2-hour long monthly podcast all about soulful music and (re)discovering old and new gems made by truly creative people from all around the world, doing it for the love. Here we don't even think about genres – It's just music that moves our feelings.

Let's all have a musical life :) I'm thinking about organising a live event that we could call The Eclectic Soul Experience. I got a few ideas of what would happen during this event. The intro is the Music Of Wellness from the amazing Apple TV show Severance that I just watched and loved. Please take those 3 minutes to do nothing but relax. Lay down if you can, breath deeply and count your blessings. In the beginning of this episode you'll hear two bits of dialogues from the 1994 movie Before Sunrise written and direct by Richard Linklater. Enjoy mostly new music released in the last two years. I'm sorry I didn't publish any mix since 14 months! I've been focused on making my own music. Now that I'm getting more balanced and listening to new music again, it felt natural to share a new selection with you. I hope you like it. tracklist (00:00) Theodore Shapiro - Music Of Wellness (03:40) Bibio - Off Goes The light (08:02) Men I Trust - Tailwhip (Album V) (11:44) Greentea Peng - Stuck in the Middle (14:27) Ab-Soul & Zacari - Do Better (18:17) Ghostpoet - I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep (22:56) Swindle - WHAT MORE (feat. This was unexpected. Few months ago I announced I'd stop releasing mixes regularly in order to focus completely on composing and producing my own music. But the other day, outside my working hours, I don't know why I felt I'd do this new Eclectic Soul. One thing is certain : this mix is here because I got two friends sending me great music. Even though there are only three songs coming from them here – those were the impulse, as I start the mix with two of those three. At 38.33 I play one of my upcoming release for 2021. Hope you dig it. Makes me thing of St Germain and Café del Mar.In 2021 I'll be releasing one track per week. Episode link : https://costals.net/eclectic-soul-62 I just moved in a farm for a WorkAway experience. I was supposed to find a part-time job in Bristol from mid-March but the Universe probably wanted me to end up where I am right now. I'm precisely in Congresbury, 20km south-west of Bristol. I am giving 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday in exchange of accommodation and food. It's interesting to be in this day job situation after nine years. Work at the farm starts at 9am so I wake up at 5.30 to do my morning routine including creating a new track. Then I work about 1.5 hours on finishing music before feeding the animals and go on with the tasks I'm requested to do. I got my daily routine on a sheet and calendar app so my day and is well organised and I can be satisfied of my progress at the end of the day. It's nice to start the mandatory not-so-fun work with a sense of accomplishment so early in the day. I'm staying in a caravan on my own and I love it. This space is inspiring to me. I don't know how long I'll stay here, cause my values clashes with the farm's activity (they gonna get sheep to sell their meat). Plus, not least, my host is quite inconsiderate and seems to have partly the Diogenes syndrome. I thought about it because she shares similar traits with my sister who apparently has been diagnosed for that. It might be a consequence – for my sister – of her falling from the fifth floor when she was five years old. Anyways, won't go to deep in this here. I'm already looking for another WorkAway opportunity with purpose like collective creative work and permaculture. I got a couple leads. I'll probably walk from one place to the other. Approx. 10-12 hours. Might also ride my mini-cruiser board. So that means I must leave behind me some stuff, at a friend's place in Bristol. And have him ship me some of those things. My plan is to stay in the UK until the end of September. Then the idea is to move to Southern Italy in my homeland for a year, after stopping a while in Switzerland and France to meet family and friends. I'm working daily on finishing new tracks to be released in the coming months. I wish I could just make music. This is what I love to do the most on the same level as hiking in the nature and swim in the sea and fly in my dreams and playing football with a tennis ball. That's actually my major goal. I had the joy to discover that they did a TV adaptation of my favourite books, the tetralogy "Les Jeunes Filles" written by Henry de Montherlant. There's that, many video interviews and a few plays to watch on ina's streaming platform madelen. This is a goldmine. Enjoy 3 months free now. Special mention for Bonobo this month, as the massively influential album Black Sands celebrates its 10 years. I play one track from that album as well as a bonus track from the Black Sands Remixed album. You want more of this? Become a patron and get access to my mix archives where you can download everything in high quality (MP3 320kbps) and get the full timestamped tracklists. There's not just Eclectic Soul, but also other mix series I've been putting out on Mixcloud. In total there's more than 100 mixes waiting for you, always done with the same care. Greetings from Northern Yorkshire! Seems to be a beautiful place, though I don't really see much of it as I'm exclusively focused on my music projects, finishing loads of tracks and creating other kind of content. I'm staying with my friend Sam in the property where his grand-parents used to live, before some other people will write a new chapter of this house. Yesterday I finished a new track called "Scarabée Égyptien" to be released as part of a Various Artists compilation on Diffract Records. I'm happy to share the tracklist with people like Mononome, my bros Nectvr and ea and Dirty Art. You might have noticed how I love to add either movie dialogs, field recordings or some bits of private conversations I have on the phone or in real life. In this one, you'll hear myself talking on the phone with my younger niece. She'll be 9 in March. She couldn't believe I went to England because "it's not possible. You don't know how to speak English." She's very creative. We can't hear that part, but she started the call pretending she was the police and that I've been flashed driving too fast. I took the picture from the covert art in Portishead. The walking man is my bro Barnaby Carter. You can hear the track 'They’ll Come With Joy' from his first album at the very end of this mix. He's finishing his second full-length, to be released in the Summer hopefully. I’d like to express my gratitude towards Barny for hosting me in Bristol while I organise my new life in the UK. I feel that this city is a perfect home for my music and overall creativity, and I’m lucky to have a good friend in this part of the world. I actually got to know Barnaby because he discovered Eclectic Soul back in 2012 and sent me an e-mail to share his appreciation. Damn, been eight years already! Enjoy the music, keep your mind and body fit 🕊 If you want to download all my mixes (almost 100!) in high quality 320kbps mp3 and get the full timestamped tracklists, you'll appreciate becoming a patron. There are also some exclusive mixes never to be publicly released! As usual, Ninja Crew and Wolf Pack patrons can find the 320kbps mp3 to download in the Google Drive Archives. What's your favourite track from this show? Let me know by sending me an e-mail at costalsmusic@gmail.com and share the last piece of music you discovered!

This episode was created in Bristol, UK. I finally made the move from Switzerland. It's been ten years that I got this intention. Took me that long to deal with my emotions and gain the courage to take the leap. I hope there won’t be any problem for me to stay here with that Brexit thing, cause this country is probably the best fit for my music. About the show, we got three tracks from last Mac Miller posthumous album. I can get emotional when I listen to him, thinking that he’s gone so soon. Plus he went away on my birthday. Feeling connected. Tycho plays as the second track, his last release being the first music I was listening to on my headphones in UK. I remember walking at night to the London underground at the end of the Northern line, under a light rain. I love this dreamy feeling when walking around a new place, not knowing at all what’s around the corner of the street. Michael Kiwanuka’s last eponymous album (for which he just used his last name) is what I was listening last night while doing grocery. That's a fantastic release. Elsa Hewitt returns in the show with her “experimental dream-pop” and the track Mermaid. I’m in love with her sound. I’m looking forward to see her live soon around here, and attend to the CDR event in London where she’ll be the guest in April for an artsist talk + production workshop. Towards the end, you’ll hear a track of mine that I did quickly on January 24, using a free sample pack. I just edited a few things to play it in the show to my better taste. The last two tracks are unreleased bits from my man Nectvr that might very well be signed to my own label Kamînar Records. You want more of this? Many tracks from two of the best albums of 2019, by the enigmatic band Sault and maybe the best female hip hop artist right now, Sampa the Great. I’m glad to say I’m opening the show with a track of mine, relesed in my last EP on my brand new label Kamînar Records. I’m relocating to London by the end of the Winter, let me know if you live in UK ! You want more of this? This show, like the previous one, has been made on the road. I started it in Geneva on Monday 9th May and did most of the work in Ticino, southern Italian part of Switzerland. The surrounding have been highly inspiring – between lakes and green mountains – and I’ll be back soon to enjoy more of the nature. I’ll remember working on it in the break of a walk in the heights of Lugano. I found a nice little garden with a stone table and benches, and green around me. I sat there and cooked what you can listen here. I’m always more and more fascinated by dreams. Dreams, among other things, are the proof that we are (highly) creative by nature. We’re always in a creative state. The dialogs in the intro and further are from two different France Inter radio shows : - Dans tes rêves, 30-04-2016, France Inter http://www.franceinter.fr/emission-dans-tes-reves - Sur les épaules de Darwin - Cette étoffe sur laquelle naissent les rêves 01 http://www.franceinter.fr/emission-sur-les-epaules-de-darwin-cette-etoffe-sur-laquelle-naissent-les-reves http://bit.ly/1OvmOE2 English translations of the sampled dialogs are available here : http://gelivan.com/eclectic-soul-36 http://gelivan.com http://facebook.com/gelivanislove http://soundcloud.com/costalsdelmar --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/eclecticsoul/message
