    Ivy Insights

The Film School podcast, hosted by Ira and Josh, is an absolute delight to listen to. From the moment you tune in, you can sense the genuine friendship between the hosts, which adds a unique dynamic to their discussions about films and life. Even during serious conversations, they have a way of making you feel like you're hanging out with that good friend who always brings laughter and joy into your life. It's a refreshing and enjoyable experience that sets this podcast apart from others.

One of the best aspects of The Film School podcast is the chemistry between Ira and Josh. Their banter is quick-witted and entertaining, keeping listeners engaged throughout each episode. They have a knack for delivering insightful commentary on films without taking themselves too seriously. Their humor is spot on, making it incredibly fun to listen to their discussions.

Furthermore, I appreciate how Ira and Josh take the time to dissect films and go beyond surface-level analysis. They delve into why certain movies work or don't work, exploring themes and ideas in a thought-provoking manner. This podcast is perfect for those who want to discuss films on a deeper level than just saying "that was rad." The hosts strike the right balance between intelligence and entertainment, making it an enriching experience for film enthusiasts.

On the downside, some listeners may find that it takes a bit of time for the hosts to get to the main point of each episode. In the Blade Runner episode mentioned by one reviewer, it took 15 minutes before diving into the heart of the discussion. For those who prefer podcasts that get straight to the point, this delay might be frustrating.

In conclusion, The Film School podcast is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys films and wants insightful discussions delivered with humor and wit. Ira and Josh create an engaging atmosphere where listeners can learn about different movies while being entertained at the same time. With their chemistry as hosts and their ability to delve into the depths of storytelling, this podcast is a gem for film lovers. Give it a try and be prepared to have your perspective on movies expanded in the most enjoyable way possible.

I know what came over you: High Anxiety. You've still got it! Well, it turns out we couldn't quite get ol' Hitch out of our system, and neither could Mel Brooks. The king of satire does his signature send-up of the suspense film master, and it's starring Brooks himself! A first! This also, somehow, marks the first time we've watched a Books picture on this podcast, which reeks of high crime. Better late than never, we suppose. Enjoy!

53 films. 50 years. 6 decades. After watching every single movie Alfred Hitchcock ever made (minus one, lost in time), Josh and Ira reflect back on the past two years they spent with the legendary director. Beyond the topics of 'what did we learn about and from Hitch?', we attempt to answer a couple massive questions. First: is he the best director of all time? And second: what are the essential watches from his catalogue? We discuss!

Leave your crystal balls out of this, George... It's Hitchcock's final film. After 6 decades, 53 films, and 50 years, Alfred Hitchcock finally reached the end. His last feature is remarkably light fare, comedy over suspense, jokes over violence, a cozy old-school sensibility over the edginess that exploded in the 70s. So, how does it stack up? Did old Hitch still have it? We watch and find out.

"Ideas are like fish. If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper."  David Lynch pushed the boundaries of filmmaking. He was known for his surrealism, his expressionism, his images, and, much of the time, for not making sense. He certainly wasn't interested in explaining himself to the audience. But the genius of David might actually be how much, at his best, he really did make sense, he really did have something to say. So...how does one figure that out? WE DISCUSS!
