Episode 176, Segment 1 -- The Nats were able to salvage a win on Thursday to avoid the three-game sweep in Philadelphia. LHP Andrew Chafin signed with the club on Thursday and will replace Colin Poche on the roster, who was Designated for Assignment. Grant & Tobi figure out what Chafin fits in to the current framework of the bullpen and if any additional moves are on the horizon; Top pitching prospect Cade Cavalli continues to work his way back from injury, but his rehab assignment hit a roadblock this week as he was pulled from his most recent start after just 2 innings of work with what was deemed to be fatigue. You thought I was done with this topic, didn't you? Well, I did some sleuthing and found a few more 80s shows that became short lived, unbelievably bad television shows. And unbelievably bad television shows is kind of my thing! We're gonna chat about Richard Pryor's Bustin' Loose which did not turn out to be a DYN-O-MITE series. I'll also enlighten you regarding Down and Out in Beverly Hills, The Four Seasons, and Nothing in Common. Along the way we'll touch on Nick Nolte's mugshot, my time with Jonah Hill, EGOTs, and a ton of Garry Marshall chit chat. It's a somewhat decent episode, I must say.

Send us a textThis week This Is Vinyl Tap discusses the criminally underrated album by Pure Prairie League, 1972's Bustin' Out. Bustin' Out contains the band's most well known song, "Aime," a radio staple for the last 50 years. Oddly, while even the most casual of music listeners know the song, many would be hard pressed to name the band that performs it. As a result, Bustin' Out has been somewhat ignored, which is a shame, because it is a fantastic collection of country infused rock songs. The album's secret weapon is David Bowie's guitarist Mick Ronson, who provides string arrangements and, some (uncredited) scorching guitar. While the band did move away from the rawer sound of their debut on Bustin' Out, the album is bit more mature and undeniably full of expert playing and fine, soulful vocals by front-man Craig Fuller that makes its influence on the alternative country bands of the early 1990's very apparent. I reached out to Leon to chat about his newly released documentary titled, End to End, which showcases Leon's journey of running the length of the UK in under 14 days - an incredible feat given that the distance is 1347 kilometers (836 miles). Journalist Moe Tkacik joins us to look at a number of issues she's reported on recently. Starting with the alarming prevalence of sexual assault allegations among Trump's new cabinet picks, we follow the trail of backlash to accountability among the ultra-rich to College campuses and of course, Israel. We then turn to Moe's reporting on the growing tumor of private equity in the American healthcare industry, and how these financial barons are gutting our already threadbare hospital system.
