179 - Jurassic Park III Hold onto your butts! This week on Reel Comic Heroes, we're diving headfirst into the chaotic, avian-infested world of Jurassic Park III. Join Travis and Patrick as they dissect the questionable parenting decisions, the surprisingly effective Alan Grant survival tips, and the sheer absurdity of a talking raptor dream sequence. Was this a worthy sequel or a prehistoric misstep? We'll debate the dino-sized plot holes, the surprisingly engaging action, and whether Tea Leoni's screaming could shatter glass. We'll discuss the introduction of new dinosaurs, the pacing of the plot, and whether the film successfully captured the wonder and terror of its predecessors. Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay "whatchya gonna do 'fore they come for you?" before talking about a buddy cop movie that not only kickstarted a franchise, but changed the face of action movies, 'Bad Boys.' Bombay starts it off with a story of hitting up dicey clubs and after hours in Miami, and then making friends with a drug dealer at one of the city's most notorious shady spots. Then the fellas dive in on Michael Bay's slick, over-stylized actioner that helped shape the look, and framework of action flicks for years to come. Bolstered by two leads in Will Smith and Martin Lawrence who have immeasurable chemistry, charisma, and charm. It also featured an underrated sultry performance from Megan Fox's blue eyed, dark haired prototype, Tea Leoni. Ultimately, it leads to the guys championing for the resurgence of family-friendly R-rated movies that have naughty words and guns, but are ultimately a good time for the whole family. Unfortunately the shows housed and produced by Motor Trend are no more. This does include “Roadkill,” its flagship and genre changing show. It's a bi-product of being owned by a large conglomerate as well as being a niche of a niche of entertainment media. All episodes filmed not yet released will be aired over the winter of 2025/2025 but no further will be created. We discussed the news of it all and and some point we'll have Mike Finnegan our friend (and Kibbe and Finnegan show co-founder) on to chat about it. No matter what spin you put on it the reality of Roadkill both creating and changing the automotive space are complexly undeniable. David Frieburger and Mike Finnegan made a team that were the best of the best in automotive tom-foolery entertainment. We loved them too! David Freiburger has given a good explanation the situation along with what's next for the full band of Motor Trend characters (visit TheDrive.com for more on that). While none of us know whether Roadkill will ever return on a different platform, it does seem like the sun has set on it and this last piece of legacy automotive media is officially over. In the short term we know that everyone has moved on to YouTube (if they hadn't already) and we can continue to have them in our lives there! Thanks, boys. It was magical! ======================================== Thanksgiving Movie Review: "Tower Heist" K&F Movie Summary: Tower Heist is the automotive Thanksgiving movie classic you didn't know you were missing until now, especially if you're Corndog! This movie stars a MASSIVE cadre os actors including Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Casey Afflect, Tea Leoni, Mechael Pena, and Matthew Broderick. This is the tale of a group of not quite as cool as Oceans 11 people that get taken by a Ponzi scheme by Hawkeye from MASH. And then – to get their money back – they steal Steve McQueen's Ferrari from the top of Trump Tower during the Thanksgiving Parade, all using a handy roof crane. You will laugh, you will squirm, and you will probably be looking up during the Thanksgiving Day Parade from here on out…..so you don't get squished by a Ferrari made of gold. This movie is a forgotten gem that has everything going for it.  ======================================== Join up via Patreon at patreon.com/KFSHOW Kibbe, Corndog, and the Bern! Why are Ben and Colin once again divided on this film as to which one they like over it's rival. What do we think of the stacked cast of this film, even though they are maybe more famous for their time? What about the actors in this film who went on to bigger things? Why have we accidently gotten into Richard Schiff month? Do we wish there was more action in this film and city destruction or is it used enough? How great is Morgan Freeman as the President? Do we love Tea Leoni as the leading woman? What do we feel about Elijah Wood and Leelee Sobieski? Do we care about the space stuff? Do the special effects hold up in this film? Why does everyone still go on with their regular lives even when the world is about to end? Why is there just a random baby all of a sudden at some point? Get chased by T. Rex! Oh, wait... Run in the herd of Gallimimus! No, hang on... Marvel at the colors of the Dilophosaur! Damn, just a second... Okay, none of those things happen in this week's episode, but it's still a Jurassic Park movie, so that counts for something. This week on The CineMEH Podcast, Josh and Ryan are going back 65 million years to the age of 2001 with Jurassic Park 3, the oft forgotten capstone of the original late 90s science fiction trilogy. We'll rampage through topics like the state of genetic engineering, dinosaur parenthood, and the critical need in stories for there to be payoffs for what the writer sets up. A tonally inconsistent mess with hamfisted dialogue and unexplained story beats, Jurassic Park 3 serves as a case study in what not to do when you want to create a film that revolves around fear, dynamic tension, and consistent science. Jurassic Park 3 stars Sam Niel, William H Macy, and Tea Leoni, with appearances by a very unethused Laura Dern. The CineMEH Podcast is a Slyjack Media, LLC production Like what you hear? The Movie Wars crew was exhilarated to tackle two buddy cop classics in 1989's Lethal Weapon 2 and 1995's Bad Boys. Similar to Westerns, the Buddy Cop genre has been transformed and retooled, all while paying homage to a timeless formula. The chemistry between the lead actors drives both of these films. LW2 reveals that Riggs and Murtaugh are more like family than when they were introduced in the franchise's first entry, where they were beleaguered and struggled to reconcile their opposing policing methods. Bad Boys hinges more on Mike and Marcus' friction and bickering, leading to the ultimate payoff when their highly effective partnership is put on full display. Both films are anchored by comedic third wheels played by a pair of legendary Joes(Pesci and Pantoliano). How will the war score fair for these two genre titans? Give it a listen because you're never too old for this Movie Wars sh*t. Film SummariesLethal Weapon 2South African smugglers find themselves being hounded and harassed by Riggs and Murtaugh, two mismatched Los Angeles police officers. However, the South Africans are protected by diplomatic immunity, and so the two are assigned to witness-protection duty in an attempt by their captain to keep his job. It is only when this witness reveals to them that he has already dealt with the smugglers that the trouble really starts.Rating: RGenre: Action, Mystery & thrillerOriginal Language: EnglishDirector: Richard DonnerProducer: Richard Donner, Joel SilverWriter: Jeffrey BoamRelease Date (Theaters): Jul 7, 1989 OriginalRelease Date (Streaming): Aug 15, 2008Box Office (Gross USA): $144.9MRuntime: 1h 53mDistributor: Warner Bros. "I have to say at some point I did have to see that resume. There was a point where if you were a newcomer, I had too much to do. I had people come in my office. When I got on a little further into the business. Rodney King came to my office because he wanted me to do a project with him. Sweetest, kindest, nicest man you ever wanna meet. Those kind of adventures, have filled my life. But Brad, you do know me also, that if nobody's there, I will talk to a chain link fence."  Dolores Robinson Dolores Robinson may not be a household name, but I can assure you she is Hollywood royalty. A youthful 86 years of age, Dolores has been defying the odds her whole life. Finding herself single in 1974, she packed up her two kids into a green Volvo station wagon and headed west from Philadelphia to California to start a new life.  College-educated, she accepted a job as a receptionist in a talent agency, quickly working her way up to a full-fledged agent. Just two years later, she founded her own management company, Dolores Robinson Entertainment, and became a trailblazing talent manager and power player who made her name when there were few women, much less women of color, with any influence on the business side of showbiz. She helped launch the careers of Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tea Leoni, Emilio Estevez, Mariska Hargitay and, of course, her own daughter, Holly Robinson Peete. The Personal Managers Hall of Fame inducted Dolores in 2017 acknowledging her as the first black female manager in film and television. Dolores may be recognizable to some after appearing on Hallmark Channel's Meet the Peetes, a reality show with her family, Holly Robinson Peete, husband Rodney Peete, and one of my all-time favorite people on the planet, son Matt Robinson, along with her grandchildren.  I asked Dolores to join me, your host, Brad Johnson, on Corner Table Talk to talk about her life, career, and share some of her wisdom from 40-plus years spent in the City of Angels.  Photo Credit: Hallmark Channel * * * Instagram: Corner Table Talk  and Post and Beam Hospitality LinkedIn: Brad Johnson E.Mail:  brad@postandbeamhospitality.com For more information on host Brad Johnson or to join our mailing list, please visit: https://postandbeamhospitality.com/ Theme Music: Bryce Vine Corner Table™ is a trademark of Post & Beam Hospitality LLCSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jurassic Park III starts off with a man and a young boy that go paragliding only to have a forced crash landing on the island of Isla Sorna, the infamous second Jurassic Park island.  The boy's parents, played by William H. Macy and Tea Leoni, travel to the island in hopes of rescuing their son, dragging along Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill, from the first film), who is none too happy about being thrown among the ruthless predators again.  Golly gee, you don't think their plane might crash causing them to have to deal with dino-angst for 90 minutes, do you? Joe Johnston directs.
