The feedback loop is at the heart of developing any skill. But, the vast majority of the work we do as storytellers is done alone. So, where and when do you open yourself up for other people to comment on? And once get that feedback, what do we DO with it? We discuss! Also, Josh recommends some of his all-time favorite shows, The Office (UK), Arrested Development, Whites, W1A, and People Just Do Nothing, and Ira recommends Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War which is on Netflix.
Director, Actor, Writer and Comedian Asim Chaudhry joins Andi and Miquita for lunch - and it's a joyful, hilarious, sun-soaked, and perfect end to the series. Andi has concocted a slow cooked lamb belly with flageolet beans cooked in rum punch , a pickled fig and apple salad, with a butterbean and white corn puree. Miquita's drink is a sensational lager, gin, and grapefruit cocktail. Asim talks about growing up in Hounslow, his passion for life behind the camera, and making ends meet before the phenomenal success of “People Just Do Nothing”. We also learn that the inspiration for Chabuddy G was found very close to home, the importance of family, his Grandmother's special ‘Haleem' dish, his 90s hip hop influenced Celebrity Mastermind subject, and why freestyling as an MC is actually rubbish. An Offscript Production, and YaYa Production. Produced by Tayo Popoola. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we pivot from talking about 12 films to 1 that is only 63 minutes: the surrealist piece by Luis Bunuel “L'Age d'Or” (or “The Age of Gold”). The 1001 by 1 crew is joined this week by Andrew Corns of The Revisionist Almanac podcast to breakdown all things Bunuel, surreal, and religious. Does this film find cohesion or is it more a series of loosely connected bits? Also, we may have set up a potential film for Season 6 (spoiler: it's GROSS!). Plus, this week Andrew recommends Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom, Joey recommends “Love Lies Bleeding” (available on VOD), Adam recommends “Cowards Bend the Knee” (free on Kanopy), and Britt recommends “People Just Do Nothing” (available on Prime). Allan Mustafa joins Grace to share the dish he turns to for comfort food. Allan shot to fame playing MC Grindah in People Just Do Nothing, his Bafta award-winning, semi-autobiographical mockumentary, which was inspired by his early life in south-west London. Allan talks about growing up with his Czech mum and Kurdish dad and eating the ultimate fusion cuisine. He dishes the dirt on his teenage life as a graffiti artist, how he met and bonded with his People just Do Nothing co-stars on a beach in Thailand and how he turned what looked like a life of doing nothing into a life of awesome comedic success.
Steve Stamp lays out his journey of Kurupt FM's humble webisode beginnings to being picked by the BBC for 5 series. He details how he approached the writing, being scared when he had to actually act, and how it felt collecting his BAFTA. He also covers working on the excellent The Curse with comedy powerhouse Tom Davis and 'sweetheart' Michael Smiley, and which actor would shout at the floor to get into the right frame of mind. And then his other baby, Peacock, and it's inception and development of story and characters from season 1 to the recently released season 2. Oh, and of course, he talks about his sex scenes in the show. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Hold tight man like Guy and Rob as Britcom Crew are joined by galdem Daisy Edwards from the W-Rated Possee. That's right, episode nine is all about People Just Do Nothing and it's movie spin-off Big in Japan. It was great to have Daisy (a self confessed PJDN fan) to talk about a film she knew she liked as opposed to some of the dross she usually gets served in her W-Rated podcast. There's plenty of UK garage chat as Guy looks on in bewilderment with Rob and Daisy chatting about their all-time favourite garage tracks. At Britcom Goes to the Movies we've had a mixed bag of direct sitcom spin-offs. Could People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan, tickle our funny bones as much as or more than the Inbetweeners Movie, or will it be a straight-up Man About The House style disappointment? The movie continuation of the acclaimed comedy series featuring a bunch of idiots doing..well literally nothing. It shouldn't work, this shouldn't be good, and yet it's fantastic. Throughly great comedy like a cross between The Office and Spinal Tap. This is the spoiler free review and check out the film available to rent now!
My spoiler filled take on the Kurupt FM gang finding themselves in Japan seeking a record deal, without a care or possibly brain cell in the world, yet its a blast from start to finish. Worth watching after the series however its entirely possible to enjoy without seeing the show, regardless I'd highly recommend checking out that, and checking out this, and you'll have a great time. Funny doesn't begin to describe it, so enjoy!
It's Marvel Time again. Tosin experiences Cinema with a baby thanks to the Everyman Cinema Birmingham and watches Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings. Shaun Watches that and adds reviews of People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan and The Night House. Sharon stays at home seeing what George Bush was really doing in 9/11 : Inside the President's War Room. Tosin doesn't see what all the fuss about The White Lotus is about and Shaun watches a Netflix movie he (shock horror!!) actually likes in the Swarm (not the Michael Caine one) Is Netflix killing cinemas? Each week we weigh up what we've seen in cinemas with what we've watched online at home and figure out which provided the best time.
