This week Mack finally experiences the anime franchise Lupin for the first time! Which means it's time for some Miyazaki SPY SHIT!Will this be a good introduction to the series, or will Mack be glad he stayed away for so long? Grab your grappling hooks, fake rings, and disguises. It's time for a gentleman thief crash course.
Who really controls world affairs? What are the belief systems of those who dictate international policy in this world? When you begin to ask these questions, you ALWAYS invariably find occultism and secret societies just beneath the surface veneer. Outwardly, the grand conspirators appear to be something that they are not. So, who are those that we dare not name? (It's not what it appears to be...) This two-part broadcast will break down the hidden history that lies behind world events today. This one is a barn-burner!Part 2 will be available for premium subscribers later this week...www.alchemicaltechrevolution.com
We conclude our conversation on Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and get into why we have so much more sympathy for the vigilante hero than the rogue cop.
Thanks to a Patreon supporter, it's finally time to dip our toes into the world of Lupin III - and to check out the first Miyazaki movie: The Castle of Cagliostro. We also talk about corporate transparency (vis-a-vis the baffling Steel Ball Run release schedule) and the flexatone. | Follow us on Apple Podcasts | Support us on Patreon | Follow us on BlueSky | We're on Threads/Instagram | Subscribe to us on YouTube | Join the fan Discord

Rocco Cagliostro is 26x pizza kampioen.
We continue with Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro as our hero meets Clarisse, receives a mysterious ring, and embarks upon the adventure of sneaking into the castle for its many rewards.
We begin with Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut in Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro. We break down the "gentleman thief" trope, invite family to ask a few big questions, then have just enough time to watch the beautiful intro.
In 1785, a scandal broke that would captivate all of Europe, destroy reputations, and help light the fuse of revolution. At its center stood three remarkable figures: an ambitious con artist who claimed royal blood, a desperate prince of the church, and a flamboyant mystic. This episode brings you the story of Count Alessandro di Cagliostro and the Affair of the Diamond Necklace.Researched, written, and produced by Corinne Wieben with original music by Purple Planet.Episode sourcesSupport the showEnchantedPodcast.netBluesky/enchantedpodcast.net

The 1970s were a strange time for animation. While Disney struggled through what fans now call its “dark age,” other studios and artists were breaking rules and redefining the medium. In this episode of Never Did It, Season 2: Animation Boogaloo, Kevin Ford returns to the show to unpack two icons of the era:Scooby-Doo Goes Hollywood (1979) — Hanna-Barbera's surreal, self-aware take on fame and Saturday-morning TV.The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) — the debut feature from Hayao Miyazaki, launching a new era of Japanese animation. We explore how the decade's creative chaos, from Disney's slowdown to the rise of international auteurs, shaped everything that came after, including the animation renaissance of the 1980s and '90s.If you're into Disney history, anime origins, or forgotten cartoon experiments, you'll love this deep dive into one of animation's strangest chapters.Subscribe for more dives into animation history and film culture.#AnimationHistory #Disney #ScoobyDoo #Miyazaki #LupinIII #Cartoons #FilmPodcast #AnimationPodcast #hannabarbera 0:00 Introduction1:16 Scooby-Doo Goes Hollywood9:26 Scoob!15:20 Lupin III: The Castle of Cogliostro24:03 The Best Animated Short Films of the 1970s28:14 The Best Animated Feature Films of the 1970s

Welcome to The B-Side! Here we sometimes talk about movie stars! We sometimes talk about movie directors! Today, we talk about both! Specifically, the B-Sides of the Mission: Impossible franchise. It's just Conor and I today folks, waxing poetic on Tom Cruise's legendary franchise and the B-Sides that we were inspired to discuss. We've chosen one for each of the Mission movies. It's also July 3rd on the day this episode is published, so happy 63rd birthday Tom Cruise! For the first Mission: Impossible, we speak on The Avengers from 1998. An adaptation of the popular British television series from the ‘60s, director Jeremiah S. Chechik's film was dismantled in post-production, slashed to ribbons following bad test screenings. The final product runs well under ninety minutes and is hard to understand. It sits on the other end of blockbusters in the ‘90s adapted from hit televisions from yesteryear. We also discuss the last five films Sean Connery made (animated film Sir Billi not included), as well as the ones he turned down. For Mission: Impossible II, we chose another John Woo American motion picture: Paycheck, starring Ben Affleck and The Avengers star Uma Thurman. This is a true B-Side, and the beginning of Affleck's now-infamous lost half-decade as a fledgling movie star. For Mission: Impossible III, we return to television inspiration. In honor of director J.J. Abrams, Conor and I go long on No Man's Land, one of the first produced screenwriting credits of Dick Wolf, who would go on to create the, ahem, Law & Order universe of shows. This Charlie Sheen/ D.B Sweeney vehicle walked so Point Break and The Fast and the Furious could run. There's chatter about David Ayer, that scene from Fire in the Sky, and how Charlie Sheen is always better when he plays the villain. For Ghost Protocol, we debate the Brad Bird B-Side Tomorrowland. We discuss libertarianism (for like two minutes) and the misbegotten message of the George Clooney blockbuster. For Rogue Nation we honor the Hitchcock homage of the opening and discuss one of Hitch's most underrated films: Topaz. Truly a can't-miss picture, which spurns a talk about the ideal Hitchcock leading man. For Fallout, there's Michael Mann's Blackhat. We appreciate the still underseen hacker epic, and make the claim that Chris Hemsworth is the best movie star of the original Avengers (Marvel this time, not British) not named Robert Downey Jr. For Dead Reckoning Part 1, Conor goes long on Hayao Miyazaki's Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, from the little yellow car to the action to the animation. And, finally, for The Final Reckoning, we celebrate John Sturges' Ice Station Zebra. The second act of the final film in the series is a reimagining of sorts of the 1968 submarine epic, with way more stunts and underwater photography. There's also mention of the Billy Crystal 1997 Oscars opening, this lovely promo for the Albert Brooks movie Mother (ok it's not mentioned I just love it), and the Oliver Stone episode of the Light the Fuse podcast.

It's the end of the month, and you know what that means! It's time for the first entry in our year-long exploration of the films that Miyazaki has directed. First on the docket is his directorial debut, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. It's a little different than his later works, so join us as we show how little we know about Japanese animation, and as we uncover just how Star Wars this film is. You can contact the show at agoodpodcast@gmail.com and find us @HowStarWarsIsIt on all platforms, but since all platforms are kind of evil now, you should probably just email us. That's the best way to get a hold of us! You can also follow Mike @WordGospel09 on Youtube and Instagram and Josiah @JosiahDotBiz on social media, but once again, just email us. And don't forget to rate and review on iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts! And if you REALLY like the show head over to our Patreon at patreon.com/howstarwarsisit for bonus episodes, Star Wars movie commentaries, and more!
This week we discuss Alessandro Cagliostro, historical Italian occultist and magician who also happened to be an imposter and a charlatan, if Wikipedia is any barometer. Anyway, we also discuss how to properly attack a cigarette butt, Balsamic dressing, Top gun, and so on. Enjoy?!

As J Mo rapidly approaches (or has perhaps already passed?) 3000 films watched all-time on Letterboxd, it felt fitting to kick off a new year with the story of another man who thought he'd hit the 3000 plateau only for it to be taken away from him on a technicality, as we try to whip ourselves back in to game-shape for 2025 by watching a sports comedy that's a little too light on laughs. It's 2004's Mr. 3000, directed by Charles Stone III, and starring Bernie Mac, Angela Bassett, Michael Rispoli, Dondré Whitfield, Paul Sorvino, Chris Noth, Keegan-Michael Key, Dane Cook and Tom Arnold. While the movie never really finds its groove comedically, it's still a charming sports twist on the cocky-hothead-gets-humbled archetype that does a great job of using existing teams, leagues and sports TV shows to make the whole thing feel somewhat real. This is to say nothing of Bernie Mac, who has more than enough charisma to carry this even when the script isn't entirely where it needs to be. Plus: we take a good half-hour off the top of the first show of the new year to countdown our duelling lists of the Top Ten Films of 2024. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our discussion, Mr. 3000 is currently free to stream in Canada on Hoopla. Other works discussed in this episode include The Substance, Juror No. 2, Twisters, Will & Harper, Civil War, Longlegs, Hit Man, I Saw The TV Glow, The Wild Robot, The Fall Guy, Conclave, Love Lies Bleeding, La Chimera, Dune: Part Two, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Challengers, Woman of the Hour, Carry-On, Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro, Cuckoo, Red One, Ladder 49 and National Treasure, among countless others. We'll be back next week with a little ADHD-VHS, as Hayley puts her newly-acquired VCR to work watching a movie on tape that is new to her: 1993's The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, that is currently streaming north of the border on Starz. And later in the month, we'll be circling back to our man Bernie Mac as January's canon consideration is 2001's Ocean's Eleven! Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!
ANGELA'S SYMPOSIUM 📖 Academic Study on Witchcraft, Paganism, esotericism, magick and the Occult
This episode delves into the mystical and Masonic legacy of Count Alessandro Cagliostro, focusing on his creation of High Egyptian Freemasonry. Cagliostro, a figure shrouded in mystery and controversy, claimed esoteric knowledge and noble origins, quickly gaining notoriety across Europe as a healer and Freemason. We explore Cagliostro's introduction of the Egyptian Rite in Naples in 1777, which marked a significant departure from traditional Freemasonry by integrating mystical practices and the concept of spiritual and moral transformation. His rites catered to both men and women, incorporating beliefs in theism and the immortality of the soul, and outlined a path for redemption through spiritual, intellectual, and physical restoration. We also cover the specifics of Cagliostro's Masonic rituals, which were designed to elevate practitioners through a series of stages: from spiritual reawakening and intellectual renewal, emphasizing alchemy and theurgy, to achieving a divine connection. These stages culminated in the mastery of esoteric arts, enabling initiates to perform significant theurgical acts. CONNECT & SUPPORT
