Hey buddies - this week on HI, Strangeness, my guest is Doug Hajicek, and my special co-host Morgan Copeland! Doug has done it all - he's the creator and of the legendary show Monster Quest, and has had his hands in many other television productions that you would definitely recognize. Doug has led one of the most interesting, and adventurous lives that I've ever heard of. We get into his experiences with bigfoot, cryptids, and even the giant squid, for which he played a major role in documenting its reality. This is such a fun one - I hope you all enjoy it!Love, Steve For more Doug Hajicek:https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2289847/https://www.facebook.com/doug.hajicek.1/https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hajicek/legend-meets-science-ii-film-sequel-a-bigfoot-documentaryFor more Morgan Copeland:https://www.instagram.com/theforteanbookshelf78/Steve Berg LInks:https://www.patreon.com/HiStrangenesslinktr.ee/stevebergPretty please subscribe and leave a review!

Can the world be as strange as it seems, well as the year 2025 reveals itself it appears to be getting stranger and stranger with every day. Jay and Aspasia discuss the anomalies surrounding two major events, Europe's largest and worst blackout and the Lyrid Meteor Shower. Is there and explanation behind this high strangeness? Jay recently stumbled onto the profound work of Michael Talbot and his book The Holographic Universe in which some of the answers may lie.Michael Talbot Thinking Aloud Linkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGeGHLIpgvU&t=4908s&ab_channel=NevilleGoddardAngry Astronaut Linkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO0Dl7r5-Pg&ab_channel=TheAngryAstronaut
I’m very excited, Gatherers, because lately I feel that something is changing in this world in a profound way, and I don’t think I’m the only one… There’s a feeling of irrational hope, a strange joy, a sense that something wonderful is happening in the midst of all the horrors. I’ve always been obsessed with the idea that we humans would change the way we live in a dramatic way at some point during my lifetime. I call it “pool consciousness”—where we move from hierarchical, pyramid-shaped structures to a more fluid, interconnected “pool” way of being. In this episode of The Gathering Room, I’m diving deep into pool consciousness and sharing a list of 12 signs that indicate you may be experiencing this shift now, too: A quiet but persistent sense that Something is happening Irrational hope and joy rising amidst upheaval and uncertainty Easy laughter, more fun, more delight—for no particular reason “Itchy mask syndrome”—an inability to be inauthentic A softening of rigid striving Intense emotional waves that cleanse without drowning you An expanding capacity for paradox and holding opposites Feeling more yourself than ever—but also more connected to everyone Disinterest in “keeping up” with traditional life goals An inner rebellion against hierarchies Strangeness with time-speeding up, stretching, collapsing A sense of being guided by signs, synchronicities, and “God winks” If you are experiencing any of these twelve signs, or a clump of them, you may be part of something happening that has never happened before in human history. Even though the world is going to hell in a handbasket, at the same time, there is something new rising—something that we’ve all been waiting for our whole lives, maybe even since the human species first evolved. I don’t know exactly what it is, but I’m excited to be part of it! Tune in for the full episode to hear about “The Pyramid and the Pool” metaphor and learn more about each of the 12 signs of pool consciousness. I’ll also share how to access hope during personal struggles, how to recognize synchronicities and guidance, and how authenticity, cooperation, and openness are key to navigating this new consciousness. The “Novelty” song has deep roots in popular culture. Masters of the form, like Weird Al Yankovic, Warren Zevon, Tom Lehrer, Spike Jones, and Allen Sherman have illuminated our consciousness and tickled our sense of the absurd. How much WAS that doggie in the window?…., WTF is Marzy dotes and dozy dotes about?…, They're coming to take me away, Haha…(that one actually scared me). Probably each of us can recall from childhood some goofy ditty that either made you feel smarter, or got stuck inside your head like RFK's brain worm. Let's give thanks to Doctor Demento for archiving and disseminating many of these gems for future generations, and my introduction to Larry Groce's Junk Food Junkie came from one of his collections. Jerry Blavat's One More Time, Back to School may not demonstrate the same amount of cleverness, but its delivered lustily by one of the premier DJs of his time. LARRY GROCEJunk Food Junkie comes from 1975, and is perfectly in key with today's anti-woke sentiments. But, Mr. Groce delivers his mockery with such gentleness and good humor that it creates a universal warmth devoid of malice. Yes, he intimates, you can try to be upright and health conscientious, but the reptilian brain in all of us needs to be satisfied - even if it has to happen under cover of darkness. Hypocrisy is the target here, and Mr. Groce, cast as the titular shlemiel, puts himself first in line for ridicule. JERRY BLAVATJerry Blavat's “Horatio Alger” story reads like a Martin Scorsese screenplay. His colorful bio, recounting his journey from son of a Philly bookmaker, valet to Don Rickles, mob-connected DJ and club owner, to broadcasting Hall of Fame icon, could be the stuff of a Netflix series. Known as “the Big Boss with the Hot Sauce,” and “the Geater with the Heater,” Jerry swaggered through his bigger than life life like a toreador. But, lest we forget - it was always his love of those Philadelphian musical goodies - that made him a beloved home town super hero. 1965's One More Time Back to School, on the Cameo Parkway label, is an fascinating glimpse into his inexhaustible energy. It's delightfully sadistic as the singer declares the end of vacation time fun. Not only that, there is something in the edgy cacophony of its production, with the clanging cowbells, that evokes that end of summer feeling.

#paranormal #supernatural Do large corporations and / or military organizations set up bases in centers of high strangeness? Or do they somehow cause it? Or, is it both? The life of Jesus gets strange on this episode of The Extraordinary Story. According to some prominent religious art, this is the episode where he flies into the sky. And according to snake handlers, this is the episode where he gives us all sorts of crazy powers. But I want to show how it doesn't have to seem so strange after all, and then finish my evidence for the resurrection with the most powerful evidence of all. Learn More The Extraordinary Story is a podcast about the life of Jesus Christ, who entered the maze of our world to transform it into a path to Him, today and always. The Extraordinary Story is produced by Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and is written and hosted by Tom Hoopes.
Hey there, friends! This week on Hi, Strangeness, I have on filmmaker and all around great guy, Dean Alioto. We discuss his new film, The Alien Perspective, which flips the often seen point of view from the human side. Dean takes a different approach here, and delves into some different ideas of what could be going on with the UFO phenomenon. We also discuss and pay homage to his genre breaking found footage film, The McPherson Tapes. A classic, in my opinion. It was a blast chatting with Dean! In our search for more knowledge about the horror genre, the films we love, and the people behind them, many horror fans began their journey with reference books. Long before the internet, these books served as stepping stones, introducing fans to films they had never heard of and offering deeper insight into the people behind the movies they already knew and loved. It was like opening doors for the first time—or pushing open ones that had only been slightly ajar—allowing us to explore and learn so much more. In this episode, we welcome author Bryan Senn to the show to discuss these essential reference books. With over three decades of experience writing about sci-fi and horror in a variety of magazines—not to mention his own books on multiple subjects—Bryan brings a wealth of knowledge to the conversation. So sit back and enjoy—but keep a notepad handy, because you might want to jot down a few titles to track down! Scientists have found something mind-blowing, and if they are right, nothing is ever going to be the same. (When They Arrive – Earth's First Contact Playbook) *** When a young boy stumbled upon a cave ritual in rural Mexico, he uncovered a terrifying cult led by a self-proclaimed goddess who had turned village farmers into willing executioners. (Blood Priestess of Yerba Buena) *** In the case of an 1816 murder, an old security guard recognized the attacker just by voice - but when the suspect ended up on death row, he swore they got the wrong guy. (Murder At The Pottery) *** When strange noises in an old farmhouse turned out to be a mongoose who could sing, spy on neighbors, and speak multiple languages, the Irving family's quiet life on the Isle of Man would never be the same. (The Strange True Tale of Gef The Talking Mongoose) *** There's something seriously strange about Saturn - a giant hexagon storm at its north pole that's got both NASA scientists and conspiracy theorists buzzing about what it could mean, strange radio signals that are unexplainable, and the odd history of how it was seen and interpreted by humans through the years. (The Science, Secrets, Strangeness, and Songs of Saturn) *** In 1800s England, Mary Bateman posed as a powerful witch to con desperate people out of their money - until her "magical cures" turned to murder. Today on Speaking Out of Place I am delighted to be in conversation with Azucena Castro and Malcom Ferdinand. We start with a discussion of what Ferdinand calls the “double fracture”—the environmental division of humans from their connection to the biosphere, and the colonial division instantiated by white supremacism and patriarchy. He insists that we not see these two phenomena as separate, rather as intimately connected. This double fracture makes any attempts to solve either environmental violence or colonial violence ineffective. In her foreword to Ferdinand's Decolonial Ecologies, Angela Y. Davis writes that as she read the book, she “recognized how perfectly his conceptualizations illuminate the frameworks we need for both philosophical and popular understandings of our planetary conditions today.” In our conversation we spend some time talking about how art, film, and poetry can manifest some of those frameworks, and we are delighted have Azucena take us into a deep discussion of this, and also to read two poems in Spanish and then in English translation and have Malcom gloss them for us. Azucena Castro is assistant professor at Rice University in Houston. Currently, she is a Swedish Research Council Postdoctoral Researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Center, Faculty of Science, Stockholm University. She held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Latin American and Caribbean cultures at Stanford University and cultural geography at the Institute of Geography, University of Buenos Aires. Her scholarly work focuses on 20th and 21st-century Latin American cultural products through the lens of climate and energy justice, multispecies resistance, and anti-extractivist critique in the artivist scenes of South America, particularly, Southern Cone and Brazil. Azucena is the author of the book Poetic Postnatures. Ecological Thinking and Politics of Strangeness in Contemporary Latin American Poetry, Series SubAtlantic at De Gruyter (2025). She has edited the volume Futuros multiespecie. Prácticas vinculantes para un planeta en emergencia (Bartlebooth. Critical Spaces, 2023), and co-edited the Essay Cluster “GeoSemantics: Earthly Memories and Inhuman Becomings in the Global South” at ASAP/Journal. As part of her engagement with community-based research and collaborative filmmaking, she has co-developed the energy justice project “No aire, no te vendas” (Penn Environmental Humanities, University of Pennsylvania) focusing on winds in ancient cosmologies and human communities in the Afro-Wayúu territories of La Guajira, Colombia in the intersection of old and green extractivism.Malcom Ferdinand is an environmental engineer from University College London and doctor in political philosophy from Université Paris Diderot. He is now a researcher at the CNRS (IRISSO/University Paris Dauphine). At the crossroad of political philosophy, postcolonial theory and political ecology, his research focuses on the Black Atlantic and particularly the Caribbean. He explores the relations between current ecological crises and the colonial history of modernity. He published a book based on his PhD dissertation entitled Decolonial Ecology: Thinking of Ecology from the Caribbean World.( Polity 2021) that challenges classical environmental thoughts. He recently published an in-depth study of the pesticide contamination of martinique and Guadeloupe entitled S'aimer la Terre: défaire l'habiter colonial ( Seuil 2024).

In 1996, veteran UFO researcher Budd Hopkins published a report that would change the UFO scene in ways no one could have imagined. He described the saga of a woman seemingly abducted from her New York City apartment in the middle of the night and thrust into a world of stalkers, MIB-like men, and diplomatic mystery. No longer was the UFO phenomenon limited to rural locations or lonely roads; if someone could be taken from a bustling city, then no one was safe. But was it true? We discuss stunning new revelations suggesting that the story may not have been investigated as thoroughly as it should have and consider whether Hopkins may have been drawn in by the lure of crafting a more sensational narrative. Then, for our Plus+ members, we explore a series of strange mass hysteria events that may have a paranormal cause after all.
