Brian McClair was a fascinatingly successful striker for Celtic during the mid 80s. Considered a genuine talent, his time is not really recalled as much as others during the same era. A very famous great uncle and a famous father, but John Divers Jr's career is worth recognising and remembering. A player from the Jimmy McGrory era, working with Jock Stein in the reserves before one final season at Celtic with Jock at the helm of the first team. He left us right before the Golden Era. He scored 102 goals in 232 games. An interesting man by all accounts who played one small but significant role in the domination that followed his own time. Celtic's history is a long and successful one. From the inception of the club, we were seen as one of the pioneers in Scottish football becoming a professional body and leading the charge with breaking records. Around the turn of the 20th century, under the supervision of Willie Maley, Celtic embarked on a league winning run that was a first for Scotland. Between 1904-10, Celtic won 6 league titles in a row. We delve into the archives to share our review of a Jekyll and Hyde European Cup tie from 1980.

For the 40th episode of History Bhoys Abroad, we look back at the career of one of Celtic's most loved players, Johnny Doyle. We discuss his beginnings at Ayr Utd, his move to his boyhood heroes Celtic, his Celtic career: the highs and the lows. A winner of three Scottish League titles and two Scottish Cups, he was a son of Viewpark, home to another wonderful character and Celt, Jimmy Johnstone. Jock Stein signed young Johnny in 1976.   Doylie as he was known to his friends and teammates, truly was a fan who lived his dream, infamous for his thunderous temper. The History Bhoys Abroad are on episode 38 and today we present a player profile of someone who racked up 48 goals in 217 appearances during some of our darkest years. He is none other than John Collins. As we look to improve on our matchday one humping, the History Bhoys look back at the previous time we played Wednesday's opponents Anderlecht in the heady days of 2003. It was the tie where a young Vincent Kompany was ragdolled by a bulky Welshman, so much so that it led to Sir Alex Ferguson making one of his most glaring errors of judgement. The History Bhoys Abroad are on episode 35 and today we present a player profile of someone who racked up 451 appearances for Glasgow's finest as well as scoring 101 goals. His name is Alec Thomson. In the 1920s, when Gallacher, McGrory and Maley's names rang out, Celtic had men like Thomson on hand to deliver balls into the box for McGrory to crash home. Alec Thomson was a tricky, reliable player that Maley called upon for 12 years and a man that earned the nickname EverReady.   An oft-forgotten and awkward time due to the lack of trophies, players like Thomson were Celtic's star men that consistently turned out for the Hoops between the War years. The sabbatical for the History Bhoys is at an end. We are back and we've wound it right back to 1937/38. Celtic's golden jubilee year. John Glass. A name every Celtic fan should get familiar with. In the late 1800s, when Brother Walfrid was looking to create a football club to help support the needy in Glasgow, he called upon such men as John Glass to help his vision become a reality. A tenacious and charismatic man, Glass was at the forefront of Celtic Football Club becoming a reality and oversaw massive changes in the club; from the first major trophies, to securing the land for the stadium, to signing celebrated players and much more. His life was no normal story. A life cut short due to a split second accident. But his impact on football and within his local community in Fife resonates even now.
