Celtic Soul Podcast Episode 54 with More than 90 Minutes, Editor Andrew Milne chatting to Jonny OwenJonny Owen is a writer, producer, actor, musician and radio show host. In his younger days he was an amateur boxer. His CV makes impressive reading including the Three Kings documentary film about Jock Stein, Bill Shankly and Matt Busby which he directed.Jonny and Andrew chat about The Three Kings Film, the legendary managers of Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester United Busby, Stein and Shankly the teams they built and the impact they had on each club. A miners son Jonny's Dad would tell him when he was growing up about all three iconic football figures and their connections to the mines whenever they would come onto the television. Both Jonny and Andrew grew up in working class areas with the same political and social landscape backdrop and a wonderful musical soundtrack to life. They share their experiences from boxing gyms, watching football, the odd all night party, trips to Glasgow and music from childhood, through the teenage years to manhood. Jonny supports Cardiff City and the conversation takes in all of football culture and names crop up from time to time like Martin O ‘Neill and John Robertson from his connections with Nottingham Forest. There is plenty of chat about Busby, football culture as the conversation flows in and out about Stein, Shankly and Busby all three working class heroes who would not only conquer the World of Football but the hearts of the communities they represented. Modern Football, Football without Fans, Football on TV, all gets examined as does the late eighties and nineties culture when weekends were all about football, fanzines, music and staying up all night with no filters or Instagram to spoil the party. Life was more real then when teeth were yellow.Jonny jumps in the Tim Time Machine and heads back to 1967 and into the heat of Lisbon while stopping off on the way back to relive some of his favourite times in Glasgow including a great session in the Gorbals. The Three Kings is available to watch on Amazon and don't forget to listen in to Jonny's show on Talk Sport every SundayPlay Out Song, You'll Never Walk Alone performed by the Rebel Rootshttps://www.facebook.com/irishmusicband/Episode Sponsors Tony Ged Ciarán & Eamonn Ratton Sunderland."Celtic and Sunderland Till We Die"More than 90 Minutes Issue 113Click Link to buy Print or Digital Edition https://celticfanzine.com/product-category/new-issue/More than 90 Minutes Celtic Fanzine Subscription Detailshttps://celticfanzine.com/product-category/monthly-print-subscription/This Episodes Listeners Offer: Feb Sales on selected Merchandise & T-Shirtshttps://celticfanzine.com/shop/If your business or CSC like the Podcast and would like to become a sponsor please email us at info@celticfanzine.com. Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller on this week's Last Word On Spurs show. Kasey Keller squeezed just about everything into a 22-year professional career. Over a century of caps and four World Cups for the USA, cutting his teeth at Millwall, glory days at Leicester, 83 consecutive starts at Spurs, the first American to play in La Liga and a title challenge with Rayo Valecano, only the second American to captain a Bundesliga side during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach before a hero's return home to Seattle, where he played until he was 41. He even lived in a castle during his time in Germany! As part of Martin O'Neill's golden spell at the old Filbert Street in the late 1990s, Kasey helped the Foxes lift their first trophy in 28 years - the League Cup in 1997 - and clinch three-successive top 10 finishes in the Premier League. He was also in goal for Leicester against is in the League Cup Final in 1999, won by Allan Nielsen's late, late diving header. Kasey later played in the final game at Filbert Street as a Spurs player in May, 2002 and then had a game he'll never forget in our first visit to the all-new Walkers Stadium, as it was then (now King Power Stadium) back in October, 2003. After two years in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, Keller returned to England with Tottenham in 2001. Signed as a back-up to Neil Sullivan, who at the time was the club’s player of the season, he took a while to establish himself at White Hart Lane and wasn’t helped by playing behind an often mediocre defence. Spurs fans retain grim memories of the 2003-04 season when Glenn Hoddle was sacked in September with the club in 17th place. Under caretaker David Pleat they stayed in the bottom half for almost the entire season and finished 14th. Through an unstable period, Keller was seen as sound and reliable, often making last-ditch blocks with legs and feet to bail out team-mates. At the age of 38 Keller finally made his MLS debut with Seattle Sounders where he stayed for the next two seasons before retiring. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose as we welcomed former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega onto the Last Word On Spurs to talk about his career. Born to Spanish immigrants in the small town of Olten, around 66km west of Zurich in June 1971, Vega studied at degree level in banking and finance at the Zürich Business School after spending his formative years at school in Trimbach. Still, despite clearly being an academic, it was his athletic ability that would take precedence during his early life. Making his way through the youth ranks with Grasshopper Club Zürich, Vega became a first-team regular, as well as a frequent member of the Swiss international side under Roy Hodgson by the age 22. Beginning his professional club career back in 1989, it was in his second season with Grasshoppers that he became a lynchpin in their backline. Winning three titles with the club, he played 67 league games in the 1994-95 and 1995-96 campaigns as GC made it consecutive title wins. After impressing enough to earn a move to Caligari in 1997, Vega spent just seven months in Sardinia before Tottenham brought him over to London. Signed by Gerry Francis off the back of an impressive outing for Switzerland against England at Euro 1996, the former White Hart Lane chief went as far as to suggest (http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/tottenham-sigh-vega-for-3-7m-1.20046) he ‘could be our Tony Adams’ upon his arrival on Hotspur Way. Despite helping the club to a League Cup win in 1999, he failed to truly recover from a stress fracture in his ankle that season, although he did make a last-ditch tackle to prevent Emile Heskey from scoring in Wembley’s showpiece against Leicester City. Vega was loaned to Celtic in 2000 for the latter half of the first campaign of the millennium, where he’d help Martin O’Neill’s side win the treble, making 26 appearances for the Bhoys. After a short spell in Glasgow, fondly remembered for two goals against Aberdeen on his debut in a 6-0 drubbing of the Dons, he became Gianluca Vialli’s big signing in the ultimately doomed Watford revolution, before a short spell in France with minnows US Créteil, where he retired aged 33. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTPSUR #SPURS #LWOS

FEEDBACK Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren (rec’d by Nicole) Carol Goodman’s books: Lake of Dead Languages, Seduction of Water, and Ghost Orchid (rec’d by Laura) QUESTIONS 1. I’d like to try a steamy romance novel where sex is described. I know very little about this genre and its classification or how to find something I would like. I am currently reading Victoria Dahl’s Taking the Heat but wondering if there are books that don’t use slang for body parts or at least don’t use the word “filthy” to describe sex acts. Is that a thing? I’m intentional with language and I want something more positive. Also, are there romance setups among happily married people? I noticed arranged or forced marriages seems to be a trope, but that really wasn’t what I was after. Maybe what I am looking for is not called a romance novel? Can you recommend a book or even link to help? My searches are not getting me where I want to be. -Wish I Weren’t Blushing 2. Time Sensitive – Mid-October please Hello! I’m searching for a book that captures all of the Halloween/fall feelings: chill air, crisp leaves, dark shadows, and just all the pumpkins. I’d love something set around New England during Halloween/autumn in general. Please recommend a novel. I’m open to YA, romance, literary fiction…something with a bit of creep factor without being full blown horror. Books I’ve read like this and loved are Sawkill Girls, The Spellbook of Katrina van Tassel, Devouring Grey, Hocus Pocus, The Hollow/The Haunted, The Children of Night and Nothing series, Practical Magic/Rules of Magic, and The Lantern’s Ember. Please help me find another Halloween book. -Heather 3. hello! i’ve been craving for some lighthearted witchy reads lately. i’ve read “labyrinth lost” by zoraida córdova, “children of blood and bone” by tomi adeyemi which are great, and have in my tbr pile “the bone witch” and “the heart forger” by rin chupeco. all these titles are pretty dark and, while i love my books that have witches constantly raising the dead, i could really use some bubbly, cute, less ‘everyone is gonna kill me’ witchy reads. (and if you could sprinkle in some lgbt in there, that would be amazing). -Myra 4. I identify as asexual and don’t often get to see that aspect of myself reflected on the page. I’ve scoured the internet and read everything I could find with ace characters: Let’s Talk About Love, Tash Hearts Tolstoy, The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy to name a few. But the lists are fairly limited. I’m open to books that don’t explicitly use the term “asexual” but that have characters that lend themselves to being read as ace (a favorite of mine is Kaz from Six of Crows, for example). Unfortunately, that’s a very difficult thing to search for. Can you recommend any more books that feature characters I might see myself in? I’m open to any genre. Apologies in advance for the difficult question. – Teresa 5. Hey! Love the podcast! I’m graduating from PT school next spring and am considering some solo international travel to celebrate. I’m fairly well-traveled but have never gone on my own so I’m looking for books about solo travel, fiction or non-fiction, particularly by and for women. Does not have to be specific to a certain location as I haven’t decided where I’m going yet (so I wouldn’t turn down recommendations about that, either
