The Golden Hurricast podcast is the ultimate destination for all die-hard fans of the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. As a casual TU fan myself, I can confidently say that this podcast does an incredible job covering all things related to the team. From game recaps and analysis to player interviews and behind-the-scenes stories, the hosts leave no stone unturned in their quest to bring the latest news and insights about the Golden Hurricanes.
One of the best aspects of The Golden Hurricast podcast is the depth of coverage provided. The hosts go beyond just discussing game results and statistics; they delve into the team's strategies, key matchups, and provide valuable insights into what makes each player or coach standout. This level of analysis helps listeners gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the team, enhancing their overall fan experience.
Additionally, the chemistry between the hosts is undeniable. Their banter and camaraderie make each episode entertaining and enjoyable to listen to. They have a knack for injecting humor into their discussions without losing sight of providing informative content. Even as someone who isn't well-versed in sports, I found myself hooked on their witty remarks and engaging storytelling style.
However, one downside worth mentioning is that some episodes can feel slightly biased towards Tulsa sports. While it's understandable that the show focuses primarily on TU-related content, it would be great to see occasional discussions around broader college sports topics or rival teams. This could help attract a wider audience and cater to listeners who may not solely be Tulsa fans but still enjoy college sports in general.
In conclusion, The Golden Hurricast podcast is a must-listen for anyone who cheers for Tulsa or has an interest in college sports. The hosts' dedication to providing comprehensive coverage alongside their infectious humor makes this podcast stand out from others in its genre. Whether you're looking for game analysis or simply want an entertaining listen on your way to work, this podcast has got you covered. Stay golden and tune in to The Golden Hurricast!
The 2024-25 Tulsa men's hoops season is officially in the books, and Head Coach Eric Konkol will return for a fourth season. We give our thoughts on that decision before discussing women's hoops' shocking AAC Tournament loss and surprising WNIT berth, softball's upswing, other TU sports, and our favorite NCAA Tournament bracket picks.

For the first time in a month, we've got an episode with both Ryan AND Matt - and we are pumped to be back. Before we get into the actual games that happened over the last week of actual basketball, we talk about Kelly Hines writing another new article for TU athletics, as well as a new Tulsa student fan group called The CHAOS. We then get into the games, which included a wild swing on the men's side where TU scored over 100 points in a blowout win, then followed that up by allowing over 100 points in a blowout loss. The women had a more sane week with two nice wins but get ready for a much more difficult week coming up. It was Homecoming weekend for the Golden Hurricane which made the loss to a 2-6 Charlotte team all the more painful. We talk about the specifics of that game, but also on what that loss means for the rest of Tulsa's season. After that we bring on Kelly Comarda from @FTWCollective to talk about the 2023 iteration of the #BattleOfTheColorBasedWaterPhenomena. But it's not all bad for Golden Hurricane sports as the men and women's basketball teams both started off their seasons with wins! We break down those games and talk about what we liked (and a little on what we didn't like so much). Tulsa lost to SMU by 59 points on Saturday, and that's about all there is to say about that one. Jk, we spent 40+ minutes breaking down that game. Everything from the historic beatdown, to Braylon Braxton's very bad day, to our confidence levels in Kevin Wilson going forward. It was a sad, but actually pretty interesting, discussion in our opinions. Aside from that, we also preview this week's Homecoming game against Biff Poggi and the Charlotte 49ers, take a look around the league, and take one more chance to get you ready for basketball season! The exhibition game is on Wednesday the 1st, and the regular season opener is at home on Monday the 6th. Finally, we will have a merch sale live on the site this week for homecoming! Keep an eye on the website at thegoldenhurricast.com for some pretty steep discounts on all of our merchandise. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thegoldenhurricast/support
We are back and in a big way! To talk about team #113 for Tulsa basketball we brought on Head Coach Eric Konkol to talk about roster construction, how the team looks so far, goals for this season and so much more. But, unfortunately its not all good this episode as we start off breaking down the rough 42-10 loss to Rice and look ahead to a good and surprisingly balanced SMU team coming up this weekend. Tulsa routed Temple to establish themselves as AT LEAST the second-best TU in the league. It was the most complete game we've seen from the Golden Hurricane in a long time and hopefully a good look into the future. We recap that game before previewing the upcoming road trip against the FAU Owls, who draws Tulsa as their first-ever AAC game. We also touch on the men's basketball non-conference schedule, the passing of George "Doc" Mauerman, and more. Tulsa got handed a tough loss at home from the #19 Oklahoma Sooners to move to 1-2 this season. But the the rest of the season looks much more manageable. To recap the game we talk about the QB situation (again), whether or not the defense is bad (again), and some key pieces missing in action. Afterwards we bring back Eddie Carifio (@DDCEddieCarifio), Sports Editor from the DeKalb Daily Chronicle (@Daily_Chronicle) to break down the matchup with the Huskies. Tulsa fell hard to #8 Washington 48-10 despite a solid effort from 3rd string QB Roman Fuller. To recap that game, we discuss the current QB situation, whether or not the defense is actually bad, and the returns of Keuan Parker and Braylin Presley before awarding our players of the game. Following that, we turn our attention toward the #19 Oklahoma Sooners. OU comes to (sold out) Chapman Stadium for the first time since 2014 in a huge game for TU. To help us break down the Sooners, we welcome Kegan Reneau from The Franchise and RPM Data. We get into some great stuff with Kegan, including his thoughts on Washington's receivers vs OU's receivers, the Sooners' vastly improved defense, Dillon Gabriel, the Jeff Lebby/Art Briles situation, and his thoughts on how this game goes. After wrapping up the OU preview, we take a quick look around the conference in what was a pretty terrible week 2 for the AAC and close things down with a request for feedback. If you have audio quality issues, specifically on Spotify, Matt's recommendation is to go into Spotify's settings and disable the "Audio Normalization" setting in Settings -> Playback. After some time off primarily spent crying over the current status of Tulsa basketball, we are back on our #Hurricast grind. Update: things are still not good! If you didn't already know, Tim Dalger is your father. The man has been playing harder than ever before. However, it's been a down couple of weeks for both the men's and women's teams. The men have lost three straight by double digits, and the women went on their first losing streak of the year before bouncing back with a big win over Cincinnati. On the flip side, there is a ton of optimism around football. Kevin Wilson's staff has been completed and his first signing day has come and gone. We discuss whether stats are actually for losers, break down his finalized staff, walk through all the new players, and debate who has the best name of the group.
