This week, Andy looks at John 20, where Jesus leaves the Holy Spirit with us.
My guest today is someone who belongs to the same coaching group as me. Rachel Haith is the owner of Inspired Life Group and she's a coach, speaker and health and, in her own words, a well-being nut.As part of her resettlement training when leaving the RAF, Rachel chose to do a professional coaching diploma, initially as a personal development tool, but quickly realised it was something that she loved and what she wanted to do – and she still loves it!Rachel explains how she loves helping people to realise their own potential – to see that they can be more and do more than they think. She also talks about the different needs people have for coaching and how people use coaches for a variety of reasons, and even in different ways. And as she shares in one example, the problem often isn't why they initially visit her.She talks about the transferable skills that she took from her time in the RAF and how they were incredibly useful. But she also found that there were things about being self-employed that came as a culture shock – particularly, leaving a very structured environment to one where you have to do everything and anything.Another big change after leaving the RAF was needing to be visible in her new role- something she had never had to consider previously. However, she has embraced this and is now very visible on social media as well as running a podcast with a friend, called the Renny Show – a fortnightly dose of honesty and positivity. Our guest on this week's episode is Jason Haith, branch manager of OEC Group's Louisville office. Anyone who has followed freight markets over the past year are well aware that they have undergone drastic changes. These changes make it harder for both shippers and carriers to decide what is fair pricing as they move to sign new contracts and also find carriage on the spot markets. As a seasoned analyst of logistics markets, Haith provides insights on what to expect for the remainder of the year and what early next year may look like in freight offerings. The State of California has created a rule that would require switch, industrial, and passenger locomotives built in 2030 or after to operate in zero-emissions mode while in California, and in 2035 or after for freight line haul. It would also set a 30-minute idling limit for locomotives in the state and would require railroads to set aside funds to upgrade to cleaner locomotive technologies. Railroad groups are suing the state over these new regulations saying the technology that California requires isn't really even available yet. We discuss the requirements and their implications on the rail industry. With low unemployment rates continuing, operators of warehouses and distribution centers are finding it harder than ever to find good workers. New research is showing what it may take to attract new workers while retaining current staff. In this episode, Nathan, Haith and Henry discuss: Turning into the needs of your customers The importance of tenacity and determination Know your "why?" Building a business with purpose Key Takeaways: Keep a pulse on what it is your market or clientbase needs. Don't let yourself be stuck on what service you want to provide, but learn to implement services that clients want you to provide. Dedicate yourself to getting it done - whatever needs to get done. Bring everything into the fight and refuse to quit. Tenacity and determination is the key. Things almost never go the way we want it to and that's why it's important to know why you're doing what you're doing. Your purpose will be a reference point for times when you feel the lack of motivation to move forward. Go beyond material success. Chase success with purpose and passion in mind. The meaning of your legacy lies in the lives of the people that you've impacted positively. About Haith and Henry Johnson: They are a husband and wife team who own LeHost Hair and Wigs. Many restaurants suffered big blows during the pandemic, but not Teriyaki Madness. It experienced growth and expansion. So, what's their secret recipe for success? Host Barbara Castiglia spoke with CEO Michael Haith to learn how they're doing it.Haith has been franchising his entire career, and buying Teriyaki Madness checked all the boxes. “It's good, fresh food that's healthy. We consider our shops to be neighborhood joints that offer customers the chance to make a meal the way they want it.”The company's growth is also because of its franchising business model, which they call “Franchising with a Soul.” Haith explained, “It means it's not a cookie-cutter concept. There are commonalities, but franchisees have the opportunity to put in their own personality.”The strong business model also sustained them in the pandemic. “We didn't really pivot because technology has always been a cornerstone for us. With a good model, people processes, and systems, technology allows for execution. We let the customer choose how to interact. It may be the perfect pandemic business model,” Haith explained. The recipe for winning with people, process, and technology also serves the customer. The company already had a strong off-premise program, offering convenience to the customer with freshly made, high-quality food. For the industry itself, Haith believes COVID forced evolution in the industry. His company was just ahead of the curve, opening numerous new locations in the last year with more to come.
