Send us a textSplash Stories had a super charged chat with The Futureheads vocalist Barry Hyde from his pub/music venue The Peacock, that he opened with Dan Donnelly (Celtic Social Club/The Wonder Stuff/The Levellers) in Sunderland's City centreFutureheads - Took their name from the Flaming Lips album Hit to Death in the Future Head shot to critical acclaim in 2004Their sound is a brash and brave mix of post-punk and three/four part harmonies their memorable cover of Kate Bush's ‘Hounds of Love' is superbly crafted.Their sound embraces stop-start dynamics in the rhythmic ‘Decent Days and Nights', punky abrasion on songs like ‘The Beginning of the Twist' and tight harmonies which they later took to the max on their entirely acapella fifth album Rant.2 decades later 2025 sees the band tour their greatest hits album released on Cherry Red Records. Enjoy episode one of my conversation with The Futureheads? Look, I know this podcast thing is a one way conversation, but I'm going to presume that you did given that you appear to have come back for more. Yes, what follows is the rest of my conversation with The Futureheads' Barry Hyde and Ross Millard, and it includes, among other things, some titbits about what the Sunderland band might do next. Just a reminder that this podcast is going on a break for a little bit, but it won't be long and when it returns it'll be shiner that it has been in the two hundred episodes to date. But first things first, here's Barry and Ross, and just to remind you of where we're at, we're talking about Shakin' Stevens. Enjoy the episode! I can't believe it took 199 episodes but I finally got, not just one of my favourite bands, but a group I grew up with – an outfit that I've known and championed for my entire career as a music journalist – on an episode of the podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, all who fall in between, on this episode I'm speaking to Ross Millard and Barry Hyde from Sunderland new wave punk pop art rock sensations, The Futureheads. I first met The Futureheads when I was just eighteen years old. They were even younger. They used to play my club night, Boyeater, all the time. Over the years we've shared all sorts of adventures together. Some of them in music spaces, many of them outside of music, and on this episode we revisit some of our shared memories, but also look to the future - no pun intended. I'm splitting this conversation over two episodes, with part two, episode 200, following tomorrow, after which I'm going to be taking another break from the podcast. The difference this time is that I know I'll be coming back - but coming back with some aesthetic changes. Stick around, you'll dig it!But for now... it's The Futureheads! Marty Ryan of Limerick band Anna's Anchor joins us as we dive into the sweaty indie night in 2006 to talk about landfill indie. All the greats are mentioned, The View, The Pigeon Detectives, The Wombats. We also try to figure out what makes a landfill indie band and take some time to mention the bands that get lumped into that genre that we still actually like quite a lot like The Futureheads and Maximo Park. Marty is the frontman of Anna's Anchor. Their new album The Merries is out now on Strange Brew. Alan is @alan_maguire. Juvenalia is his main thing right now. Andrea @AndreaCleary_. For the last ten years, Pop Recs Ltd – initially a publicity stunt, then a record shop, then a venue, now so much more - has been at the heart of the music community in Sunderland, the place that I, for a time, called my home. Founded by Frankie & The Heartstrings duo Michael McKnight and the late Dave Harper, now aided and abetted by my old friend and punk pizza supremo Dan Shannon, Pop Recs is on its third incarnation, now being based at the bottom end of Sunderland's High Street West. If you're in town, make sure you swing by for a coffee and a bop, won't you? Pop Recs celebrated this decade of struggle and triumph last Saturday with two instore performances by local heroes The Futureheads, and while I couldn't attend, it's heartening to see that the culture within a city I care about greatly continues to thrive thanks to the DIY spirit that's produced so much great music this last twenty plus years. What follows is a feel-good conversation about the past, the future, the forever missed Dave Harper, and a bit of inside baseball lols that might only make sense if you were part of the Sunderland indie rock scene circa the turn of the millennium. Happy birthday Pop Recs! Here's to many more happy returns! IDLES are a British rock band formed in Bristol in 2009. The band consists of Joe Talbot (vocals), Mark Bowen (guitar), Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass) and Jon Beavis (drums). A self-proclaimed 'angry band' from Bristol in Southwest England, IDLES take the fury of punk rock and wed it to a muscular but moody instrumental attack that matches the literate, purposeful menace of their lyrics. Lead singer and lyricist Joe Talbot's full-bodied ranting, in which he offers his vehement opinions on the state of British culture and his own personal issues, is matched by the rich, angular blast of the musicians, who can swing from melodic to brutally hard at a moment's notice. In this episode all songs selected by IDLES as guests for Australian TV show Rage, on Saturday June 8, 2019. Lineup: Crows, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Grinderman, The Stooges, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Heavy Lungs, Spiritualized, Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, Grimes, Fuck Buttons, BAMBARA, Parquet Courts, Preoccupations, Gilla Band, Death Grips, Tyler, The Creator, Pusha T, Ginuwine, Velcro Hooks, Turbowolf, Pulled Apart By Horses, Cold War Kids, LIFE, Death From Above 1979, Foals, The Futureheads, Archie Bronson Outfit, Spring King, Fontaines D.C., Metz, The Walkmen, LICE, SOFT PLAY, A Place To Bury Strangers, Beak, Death In Vegas, Arab Strap, SUUNS, TV On The Radio, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Spectres, Mogwai, Q Lazzarus, IDLES, Fugazi, DEN, Future Islands, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, Tears For Fears, The Cure, The National, Einstürzende Neubauten, To Rococo Rot

RATE BUSH! What are your most favorite and least-loved songs on Kate Bush's Hounds of Love? Three months before some very strange things catapulted Miss Bush into a new generation's consciousness, Sam had us sit down to dissect an album that most purists wouldn't dare break into separate parts. While Adam went overboard (groan) researching the second side's epic Ninth Wave song story, newbies Dan and Jim obliviously took it in like men with children in their eyes...or something. Guest rankers include keyboard guru and Abbey Road expert Brian Kehew (Moog Cookbook, The Who, Prince and more) and San Diego Music Award winner Marie Haddad from the world's greatest coverband, Baby Bushka. Dutch Uncles are an indie pop band from Manchester, UK. They have released five albums, toured with bands such as Paramore, The FutureHeads, and Bombay Bicycle Club, and played an array of UK and European tours, including a slot at Glastonbury 2017, on the back of their fifth record, ‘Big Balloon'. In this episode, I chat to frontman Duncan Wallis, about the band's history from college, choosing their sound/style away from typical Oasis/Roses Manchester vibes, touring with Paramore, challenges faced in terms of logistics, radio airplay and songwriting, finally playing Glastonbury in 2017, themes of their work, and their ‘Chips Of Chorlton' podcast, based in Manchester, UK. Excellent insight into the journey of a band. Thank you, Duncan! Dutch Uncles are available on all streaming platforms, and their website ‘DutchUncles.co.uk', and if you enjoyed, you can find out more about ComebaCK at @thecomebackwithck on Instagram. Want to accelerate growth and increase your recruitment business profits? According to Nathan Callaghan, it's about hiring the right people and creating a culture where they can thrive. Nathan is Managing Director at Futureheads Recruitment - an award winning recruitment company based in London with a team of 30. They have been awarded Great Place to Work multiple times as well as listed on the London Stock Exchange's 1000 companies to inspire Britain several years in a row. I asked Nathan about the factors that contributed to Futureheads being ranked by Recruiter Magazine as one of their Hot 100 companies, based on GP/employee. Some of the success factors he shared include niche market specialization, clear company values, a culture of collaboration and a career path that allows people to play to their strengths. Episode Outline and Highlights [2:20] Two pointers to keep in mind to thrive while specializing in your niche. [4:55] Managing the client journey - Nathan shares how they make it easy to engage with clients. [10:39] Getting the balance in giving your team freedom of creativity while upholding company standards. [14:50] Key lessons in 2020 that shaped Futureheads decision making in 2021. [22:55] The non-negotiable values that were upheld during the challenging times of the pandemic. [35:00] Great approach to capture massive opportunities in the current market while establishing a career path for your team. [45:30] How to assign your team to their area of focus to establish fluidity and coherence. [52:08] Attributes that are more important than experience - what to look for when hiring. The Benefit of Being Niche Market Specialists I asked Nathan about their approach to niche specialization. Futureheads has a deep and genuine commitment to being experts who focus on a handful of digital specializations rather than “tackling a bit of everything.” I am a big believer of niche specialization so it was interesting hearing Nathan lay out how and why they do it this way. Nathan shared insights on how to increase your success while specializing in your niche: You must balance the rigour of good recruitment practice alongside genuine interest in the space. As you scale, it is really important to put a strong client management process around that niche focus. Is the 360 Model Outdated? Futureheads Wants their Recruitment Consultants to Play to their Strengths One positive impact of the pandemic for Futureheads was redesigning their business model and adopting a more collaborative approach. Nathan explained that the management team started questioning, “why are we asking people to conform to the 360 model?” He elaborated: “If we want our people to really thrive and reach their peak performance, let's stop pushing people to do things where the enjoyment and engagement isn't there. Let's create career paths where they can play to their strengths and focus on the component of the job that makes sense to them, whether that's client acquisition, process management, candidate engagement. Giving people control back is really working for us.” According to Nathan, some people can perform well as 360 degree Consultants, but the majority of people truly excel at either the client side or candidate side, not both. He believes they'll get the most out of people and have a happier, more engaged team if everyone plays to their strengths. At futureheads, Consultants can choose whether they want to focus on client acquisition, candidate generation or process management. The Consultants then partner with each other and collaborate to complete projects and make placements. Interestingly the job titles and career paths are the same for both sides of the desk, so Consultants who are excellent at candidate generation and engagement have the same opportunities for promotion as the business developers who open new accounts. What Attributes Make a Successful Recruitment Consultant? Futureheads were recognized by the Recruiter Magazine's Hot 100 List which is the most successful recruitment companies in the UK based on GP per employee. They are now looking for future growth. Nathan mentioned they are hiring and focus more on people who have the right attributes, rather than necessarily having recruitment experience. So I asked him “what are the top attributes you look for more than the experience? Here are the takeaways: Genuinely caring about what you do The ability to maintain a level head during the best and worst of times Strong work ethic, which for Nathan doesn't mean unnecessary long hours, but rather “output you deliver while you're at work.” Our Sponsors This podcast is proudly sponsored by i-intro®. i-intro® is an end-to-end retained recruitment platform. Reportaż o młodej artystce z Lublina, która podbija Stany Zjednoczone. Katarzyna Kapri Dąbrowska jest laureatką prestiżowej nagrody Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2020 za tekst do utworu „Dolar Song”. Jak wygląda ścieżka kariery z Lublina do Hollywood? Wśród nominowanych do nagrody byli tacy muzycy jak: Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Sia. Jak lubelinianka znalazła się wśród takich sław? Kapri to wokalistka, autorka tekstów i performerka. W rodzinnym Lublinie występowała wielokrotnie, między innymi w 2008 roku supportując rockowy zespół The Futureheads. Oprócz muzyki kocha konie, ale wypadek uniemożliwił jej trenowanie jeździectwa. Obecnie mieszka w Hollywood w Kalifornii i pracuje z liczącymi się w branży producentami i artystami. Fot. Episode 4: Ross Millard - The Futureheads. Ross joins us to discuss life in the Futureheads as well as taking a look at how things have changed for guitar bands.
The Futureheads burst onto the indie music scene in 2004 with their distinctive vocal harmonies and art-punk influences. They've released six studio albums featuring a whole host of hit singles, including Decent Days and Nights, Meantime, Skip to the End, The Beginning of the Twist and perhaps the greatest cover of all time, Hounds of Love. Guitarist and vocalist Ross Millard tells The Boys in the Band Podcast how that Kate Bush cover came about and also discusses how the Sunderland four-piece boomed in the 2000s, took their experimental approach to new levels in 2012 and why, after a long hiatus, they made their comeback in 2019. Plus there's a really interesting discussion about mental health in the music business, from the challenges bands face when they're on the road to the support they receive. The Futureheads fan? For this episode Matt and Lucy are joined by one of the founders of independent boutique pop label 37 Adventures, Alex Bean. Alex founded 37 Adventures with Nick Worthington, a former XL Recordings A&R, in 2013 after they worked together at 679 Recordings, a label set up by Worthington in partnership with Warner Music in 2001. 679 Recordings released The Streets first album Original Pirate Material and million-selling follow up A Grand Don’t Come For Free. It was also the label that released Futureheads’s self titled debut, Kano’s first album Home Sweet Home and Plan B’s Who Needs Actions When You Got Words plus releases by Marina and the Diamonds and Little Boots. Since launching 37 Adventures they have put their boutique pop philosophy into action working on campaigns for artists like JONES, whose debut album New Skin was released in 2016. Her music has amassed millions of streams and she has recently signed to BMG. 37 Adventures also broke singer/songwriter Emily Burns whose debut EP Seven Scenes From The Same Summer was released by the label in 2018. Emily has now been signed to Island Records. They’re currently working with Australian duo Geowulf, whose single Saltwater has now had 20m+ streams, pop collective Studio Black whose debut single Friends Don’t Kiss Friends is just shy of 10m streams on Spotify and singer/songwriter Elle Charms who has just dropped her amazing 2nd single Better Love, a follow up to her debut Lie With Me, produced by Measure For Measure who has previously produced for Bad Gir$, Emily Burns and his recent own singles. From touring with Franz Ferdinand, Tegan and Sara, The Futureheads, Divine Comedy, Gomez, and Los Lonely Boys to having been featured on MTV, Paul Holmes is as dynamic of an artist as he is talented. Paul Holmes spent years collaborating with other artists and bands in Boston, New York, and London. Some of these collaborations have even made it to recognizable ads for Target and Macy’s. Paul has recently side stepped from collaboration to develop his talents as an individual artist. He is certainly one of the most dedicated musicians out there to the point of releasing new songs every week for two solid consecutive years. His new album 'The Whinnys' showcases the stronger pop-rock/alternative side to Paul Holmes’ music, but don’t lump him in with a brand. Listen to the full-length interview and hear the leading single "Reaction", for the first time on Taste Test Live! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tastetestlive/message
We have been informed that we do not cover enough songs from the 1980s, and for our first episode of 2019, we are taking decisive action. Unfortunately for 80s fans, that action does not involve covering songs from that decade. Instead, we're talking about two songs that remind us of the 1980s - "Christmas was Better in the Eighties" by The Futureheads and "Merry Something to You" by Devo. Matthew's slideshow featuring analysis of HARK can be viewed here!
Phones - Worryin' (Petko Turner's & Chew Solo's Carefree Edit) Much respected indie rock producer (Futureheads, Maximo Park, Bloc Party, White Rose Movement...) by day, dirty electro DJ by night. Based in London, Paul "Phones" Epworth has been at the centre of the new rock/dance revolution that doesn't seem to have an official name other than the general 'Electro', 'Indie Rave' and 'Electro Indie' tags that are commonly used. Not to be confused with Electro House (Steve Angello, Tom Neville etc), the scene is a romantic hybrid of the electro sound pioneered by the likes of Daft Punk and later on 2 Many DJ's, with the 'new wave' of rock and indie rock of the past 5 or 6 years. Along with acts such as Simian Mobile Disco, Justice (3), Digitalism, and Erol Alkan, Phones has helped pioneer the 100% credible melding of rock and indie rock with alternative electro beats and dancefloor sensibilities by creating a string of critically acclaimed remixes of rock and pop records, which he backs up by crowd pulling DJ sets in London and across the globe; winning himself in the process as many 'dance' fans as he has rock. Paul has also had some involvement in another London-based movement known as Grindie, which is a hybrid of indie rock and the grime sound of East London MCs such as Kano (4), Lethal Bizzle and Lady Sovereign. Although not strictly in the same boat, he has often been talked about alongside the likes of Jacques Lu Cont, Tom Neville and Switch with regard to the high quality of his remixes.

This week we continue up in Edinburgh with Mike Livesley, AKA ‘Made by Mike'. In this second part of the episode we cover pedal combinations, software emulation and multi effects boxes. This was a fantastic delve into the world of guitar pedals, particularly as they are so fundamental to so many artists. I both loved and hated Ben's use of them. Whether a distraction or a game changer, they're here to stay. The good cause for the week is Food Banks. Info and show notes at www.acpgmusic.com/episode019

In this BIG series finale, Andy & Stu are joined by Carl Reavey from the Bruichladdich Distillery for an interview about the distillery itself and the whisky they are reviewing on this episode: the Classic Laddie. This whisky was a listener suggestion (thanks Daniel Hoper!) and we were challenged to create a playlist of songs related to the whisky by picking songs outside of a bands usually genre (to reflect the unpeated Islay dram... usually associated with heated whiskies). You'll hear songs from Nirvana and The Futureheads amongst others as a result. Thanks for everyone's support and help with series 3 - we can't wait to be back with series 4 and hopefully a few surprises up our sleeve. Sláinte! The legal bit!: This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS allowing them to play full tracks on their podcasts.

This podcast is not really all that referendumy, I thin... actually, I suppose it is kind of. I'm sorry to do this to you, but it's more or less unavoidable at this stage because if you're in Scotland it's impossible to think of anything else. I started off trying to make it apolitical and just play some tenuously connected songs, but fuck it, in the end it inevitably seeped in. In the words of the utterly obscure (but excellent) MC Quake: "It feels good to be in Scotland; it feels like home." I have no idea how it's all going to go of course, and I am not the sort of ideological idiot who thinks it will be fucking amazing or fucking disastrous either way. I am looking for a marginal improvement, and that will be good enough for me. It's become my home, Scotland, almost by accident. I ended up studying here and then entirely coincidentally fell in love with a Scottish girl and found myself back, some five years after graduating. And now I'm here. Possibly permanently. Which is a strange thought, given I had no reason to end up here. 01. The Sound of Music - So Long, Farewell (00.22)02. The Futureheads - Yes/No (01.21)03. Matt and Brett keep the X-Fun rolling as they read the two-part classic Uncanny X-Men story that inspired this summer’s big hit film, X-Men: Days of Future Past. This story by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin, Tom Orzechowski, and Glynis Wein is considered to be one of the greatest X-Men stories of all time, and it’s definitely one of Brett’s favorites. Will everyone else share his strong feelings?! Joining them is comedian, writer, fashion designer, and director Ellena Chmielewski! Thrill as she breaks down Destiny’s elaborate — and totally rockin’ — bad guy garments. You can follow Ellena’s internet adventures on Twitter and Instagram. To find out what all the hype is about, you can pick up a copy of Days of Future Past on Amazon as either a paperback or hardcover and digitally on Comixology. This week the mod world is full up with cool sounds both new and old. New from The Futureheads and Ocean Colour Scene, and old from the likes of The Doors and Pimlico. It's a good show, I guarantee it. If you've been perusing past shows and find some that aren't currently available just leave me a comment and I'll put them back online. Storage and bandwidth cost money, so some of the older shows aren't available anymore. That's why I do the From The Vaults shows where I dust off old modcasts and repost them. Eric Diaz, from the video podcast Geekscape brings a unique perspective to the show this week. Lots of frank, dividing subject matter gets covered here in this overstuffed episode, so proceed with caution. Not suitable for children, unless you're really open and casual with your kids. Like, seriously.00:02:46 - Eric is singing the praises of Mad Men. It won some important Emmy awards, so that's gotta count for something, right?00:09:12 - John desperately wants to check out the special features on the Spaced DVDs, even though he's already seen and enjoyed the show.00:11:48 - John is experiencing a love/hate relationship with season one of Eli Stone. The conversation turns into talk of the Green Lantern movie.00:18:47 - Breaking news, Tim Burton was a hired gun on his remake of Planet Of The Apes, which ruined the movie.00:20:28 - John and Eric discuss fan boy-submitted, great movies lists. Popularity goes head to head with actual quality.00:26:00 - Back to Eli Stone. Season two will be arriving soon, but John is almost certain the show had been canceled. Confusion ensues.00:29:55 - John brings up Fringe. It's entertaining, but the problems are still there. This leads into some Joshua Jackson love.00:42:36 - If a show taps an idea really well, should no one else be allowed to expand on it? This leads to talk about Bones. The show has jumped the shark, so John has dropped it. Again.00:46:27 - There's talk of the season three premiere of Heroes. It's not pretty. Thankfully, Hiro manages to escape more or less unscathed.00:56:36 - John gives his play by play on Heroes through his Twitter posts.01:06:24 - John continues his thoughts on season one of Six Feet Under.01:13:45 - Eric explains the difference between sexual behavior and sexual orientation, using the new Buffy comics and the television series as reference material.01:24:48 - Chasing Amy comes up in a discussion of the validity bisexuality.01:34:27 - Buffy gets blamed for the decrease in female membership in the Church Of England. We roll our eyes and scoff.01:45:41 - Eric makes a bold prediction about the Buffy comics. John gasps, but considers it.01:54:02 - Eric praises the writing on the Angel comics, but the art makes him cry.02:01:30 - John closes out the show by lamenting how expensive weekly comics are.The following artists can be heard in this episode:C & C Music Factory, Etta James, Johnny Ace, Dan Mudford & Pete Woodhead, George Michael, Ladytron, Beck, Imogen Heap, Thomas Dolby, Moby, Pete Yorn, Crystal Method, Wendy & Lisa, Stars, Iio, Doves, Gym Class Heroes, Thomas Newman, Lamb, Stereophonics, Sarah Mclachlan, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Tricky, The Futureheads, Curve, Marvin Gaye, Overseer, Sinead O'Connor, BT, Joshua Radin and Dead Or Alive.

Firstly, the Ladies of Rackington would like to apologise to you, the wonderful listening public, for the untimely release of this episode. Technical difficulties and unprovoked front door attacks prevented this episode from being released on time, but trust us, it's worth the wait! After several months of being completely rubbish, the girls finally get their act together and present to you their second and rather awesome Rackette, the lovely Marcus Q. Join them in the main feature as they discuss Marcus' comic likes and dislikes, how dyslexia can affect a comic reader and what comic creators and editors could be doing to improve the reading quality of their works.During the show, Stacey gets excited several times, on topics such as The Futureheads (oh, will she ever shut up about them? I think not), Jamie Smart and awesome looking Transformers covers. As well as all the excitement there are rants a-plenty as Iz slates her Tail of the Racks, and Marcus addresses a friend who borrowed (read: nicked) some books once...Unfortunately, Mr Q departed before the Rack Music and Peeve segments, but never fear! Iz and Stace produce the goods, as they can never let a good rant lie. Will Stace disguise herself as Velma to stalk The Futureheads? Will Marcus ever get his books back? Episode 11 - Pigs are FunnyBack to their regular programming (hopefully), Iz and Stace bring you a lazy, but still rather good if we do say so ourselves, episode of Comic Racks! In this reviewtastic episode, the ladies talk you through some of their reading and TV watching highlights from the last few weeks. Much rambling on the subject of Torchwood takes place, and Iz finally gets around to starting Death Note, hoorah! Stacebob tries desperately, and quite badly, to describe the sheer brilliance that is Ubu Bubu #1, as Iz reveals a rather controversial Tail of the Racks...In our not-so-much-news segment, Stace botches a news story about a Whedon musical, Iz muses on the sanity of Tom Cruise and we discuss the pros and cons of spoof movies. As well as all this juicy content, Stace almost wets herself recalling her brush with the Futureheads, and the ladies finally get Rack Music properly off the ground with our choices for this episode.Enjoy!
This episode the girls have a very grown-up and sensible (for a change) in-depth conversation about comic cheesecake, and touch on Chaos comics, manga, Bisley porn, Greg Horn, and the MJ and Supergirl statues.Along the way, the usual news, reviews and top/tail of the racks are covered: Snow White in Drag, stalking the Futureheads, Barrowman Watch and more....Reviews:Tiny Titans #1Green Arrow & Black Canary #5Deadpool #20(ish) to 45Dock Walloper #2Urban Monsters #1Bullseye Greatest HitsOur competition winner is announced with the girls debuting the winning entry, and it's Stacey's turn at choosing this fortnight's Rack Music - woot :)
On a sweltering Friday evening in June, Barry Hyde of UK quartet, The Futureheads, kindly invited me into the band's well-equipped (and air conditioned) tour bus to escape, well, the summer and the throngs encircling Dallas' Gypsy Tearoom. "How can you possibly stand this heat?" he asked as we sat down. "I can't," I remarked. When we sat down, Hyde, the Futureheads' frontman and chief songwriter, cut right to the chase and thoughtfully unraveled the executional and philosophical approaches to the songs and harmonies on their just-released News and Tributes LP, exhaustively contrasting their latest effort with their critically-acclaimed eponymous debut. Assessing the Futureheads' rise -- and his scorn for their former label, Warner Brothers -- Hyde generously shed light on the inner-workings of a band that began, as he will admit, with few and simple expectations. If there ever was any uncertainty about their rise, Hyde et al affirmed his confidence, and the audience's high expectations, pushing the limits, lengths, and structures of their crafty cache of songs for almost two hours. It was an impressive set and, for your host, at least, the show dutifully proved why the Futureheads have garnered such praise from a growing network of famous friends, influential publications, bloggers, hipsters, and the rest.Downloadable PDF of Episode 41: The FutureheadsDownload Podcast of Episode 41: The Futureheads
