Listen to Eric's podcast “Bombing with Eric Andre” from iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Podcast Network –– with new episodes every Wednesday Eric Andre rolls in an hour late and somehow still steals the episode. The boys break down YMCA shower farts, sleep apnea setups, and why every redhead is a gamble. Mark and Sam pour Lagavulin 16 while debating whether Cary Grant was bisexual and if showing your feet online is the new stand-up comedy. Eric shares how The Eric Andre Show almost got chopped up for Quibi, confesses he's not drinking much (until he is), and reveals his secret weapon for bombing with grace: texting moms from hecklers' phones. This one's got old-man gym gear, OnlyFans chihuahua crimes, DVD nostalgia, anal fissures, and the real reason Jimmy Stewart never took his shirt off. Strap in, it gets weird. Sponsored by:
The Sams focuses on the Champions League race, as five clubs can now qualify, and five clubs are battling for the final two spots. City, Villa, and Newcastle all secured wins, while Chelsea drew with Ipswich and Forest lost at home to Everton. Liverpool is now six points from the title, as Arsenal is clearly focused on the Champions League. The wolves have won four games in a row for the first time in the Premier League, and Big Ange's days may be numbered at Spurs. The three share the story of how this unprecedented collaboration developed over years of exploration to make a very special whisky.Guests: Noah Rothbaum, David Vitale & Stuart MorrisonListen to more episodes and read stories at keyinthelake.comKey In The Lake

In this episode of EmbellishPod, I had the pleasure of welcoming Josh and Jason from Single Cask Nation, a pioneering independent bottler in the whiskey industry. We dove deep into the fascinating world of independent bottling, exploring its significance in the whiskey landscape, particularly in the United States, where it is still a relatively novel concept. We kicked off the conversation with an introduction to Single Cask Nation, where Josh and Jason shared their journey from whiskey enthusiasts to independent bottlers. They recounted how their passion for whiskey led them to champion lesser-known distilleries and how they aim to highlight unique expressions of whiskey that might otherwise go unnoticed. Jason took us through his personal journey into whiskey, starting from his university days in Aberdeen, where he discovered the joys of single malts. He reminisced about his early experiences and how they shaped his love for whiskey. Josh, on the other hand, shared a compelling story about his transition from being straight edge to discovering the rich flavors of whiskey, particularly through his first encounter with Lagavulin 16. This moment sparked his deep dive into the world of whiskey, showcasing how flavors can evoke powerful memories and emotions. As we continued our discussion, we touched on the challenges of selecting casks for bottling. Jason explained their meticulous selection process, emphasizing the importance of texture and the connection between the nose and palate. They shared insights into how they taste through numerous casks, often experiencing minimal disagreement due to their shared passion and understanding of quality whiskey. We also explored the evolution of their brand and the role of social media in building a community around Single Cask Nation. Josh highlighted the positive atmosphere in their Facebook group, where members engage in supportive discussions about whiskey, share experiences, and connect with one another. This sense of community has been crucial in maintaining authenticity and trust with their audience. Towards the end of the episode, we discussed the balance between education and production, as they navigate their roles as both educators and independent bottlers. They emphasized their commitment to transparency and authenticity, ensuring that their recommendations and products reflect their genuine passion for whiskey. Overall, this episode was a rich exploration of the independent bottling world, filled with personal anecdotes, insights into the whiskey selection process, and a celebration of the community that surrounds this beloved spirit. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed having this enlightening conversation with Josh and Jason from Single Cask Nation. 00:00:00 - Introduction to EmbellishPod 00:00:47 - Meet the Guests: Single Cask Nation 00:01:06 - What is Single Cask Nation? 00:02:54 - Jason's Journey into Whisky 00:05:48 - Josh's Unique Introduction to Whisky 00:07:01 - The Nostalgia of Whisky 00:10:02 - Musical Background: Josh's Passion for Bass 00:11:41 - Jason's Love for Pool 00:12:51 - Daily Drinkers: What They Enjoy 00:15:15 - Exploring Independent Bottling 00:21:02 - Selection Process for Casks 00:25:51 - Disagreements in Selection 00:29:07 - Challenges of Independent Bottling in the U.S. 00:34:54 - Maintaining Authenticity and Trust 00:40:02 - The Role of Social Media 00:42:04 - Community Building through Social Media 00:49:36 - Final Thoughts on Social Media

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Ewan Morgan, Head of Whiskey Outreach and National Luxury Ambassador for Diageo who owns some of the largest liquor brands in the world, from Tanqueray & Casamigos, to Guiness and Non-Alcoholic brand Seedlip. But what most may not know, is that Diageo also owns a fair share of high end labels too, like Lagavulin and Mortlach. And after four decades of closure, the iconic Port Ellen distillery in the Island of Islay is reopening with Diageo in a historic moment for the Scotch industry. Ewan and I chat about the Scotch Whiskey collecting market, growing up in a family who lives and breathes the spirit, and he even takes me through a tasting of the new Port Ellen Gemini release, retailing for fifty thousand dollars. And to top it all off, we recorded at an amazing ten million dollar apartment on One Wall Street thanks to our friends at Optimist. Ewan is truly an expert which is why he's worked his way up to have what most would consider one of the greatest jobs in the world. Lagavulin is a peaty, yet gentle scotch. It's the more mature one when compared to it's neighbors (Laphroaig & Ardbeg). Nick Offerman worked with Lagavulin to age their whiskey in a Caribbean Rum Cask, and it just didn't work in our opinion. Have you had this before? Check out the video to find out! The Oldest Independent Bottlers and a Brand New Scottish Distillery Are you fascinated by the rich history of whisky and the art of independent bottling? Join me as I welcome esteemed friend Gary Pickard, Northeast Regional Manager of Pacific Edge Wine and Spirits. Gary takes us on a captivating journey through the histories of two iconic independent bottlers, William Cadenheads and AD Rattray. From George Duncan's founding of William Cadenheads in 1842 to Robert W. Duthie's tragic end and the company's resilience through decades of challenges, this episode is packed with intriguing insights and personal anecdotes from visits to Cadenheads boutique stores in London and Edinburgh. As we continue, we explore the storied legacy of Campbeltown whiskies and the remarkable survival of distilleries like Springbank and Glen Scotia. Gary shares his deep knowledge of AD Rattray, tracing its evolution from Andrew Dewar Rattray's grocery store in 1868 to its current state under Tim Morrison's leadership. We delve into the Morrison family's significant impact on the whisky industry, including their acquisitions of Bowmore, Glengarry, and Auchentoshan, now under Suntory's ownership. This episode underscores the critical role independent bottlers play in bringing the hidden gems of lesser-known distilleries to light. Finally, we unravel the complexities of Islay whiskies, discussing the distinctive features of renowned distilleries like Bowmore, Lagavulin, and Bruichladdich. We explore the cultural contrasts between Japanese and Anglo-American approaches to whisky production and the challenges faced during Suntory's acquisition of Beam. Additionally, we touch on the resurgence of distilleries within Glasgow's city limits, spotlighting the modern marvel that is Clydeside Distillery. This episode is a rich tapestry of whisky history, culture, and the intricate world of independent bottling that any whisky enthusiast won't want to miss. Here is the smoky bits if your ready for it. Islay is the last region we are diving into, the best maybe, my favorite possibly. Badmotivatorbarrels.com/shop/?aff=3 https://www.instagram.com/zsmithwhiskeyandmixology?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== Patreon.com/the_whiskeyshaman Islay (/ˈaɪlə/ ⓘ EYE-lə; Scottish Gaelic: Ìle, Scots: Ila) is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Known as "The Queen of the Hebrides",[8] it lies in Argyll just south west of Jura and around 40 kilometres (22 nautical miles) north of the Northern Irish coast. The is land's capital is Bowmore where the distinctive round Kilarrow Parish Church and a distillery are located.[9] Port Ellen is the main port.[10] Islay is the fifth-largest Scottish island and the eighth-largest island of the British Isles, with a total area of almost 620 square kilometres (240 sq mi).[Note 1] There is ample evidence of the prehistoric settlement of Islay and the first written reference may have come in the first century AD. The island had become part of the Gaelic Kingdom of Dál Riata during the Early Middle Ages before being absorbed into the Norse Kingdom of the Isles. The later medieval period marked a "cultural high point" with the transfer of the Hebrides to the Kingdom of Scotland and the emergence of the Clan Donald Lordship of the Isles, originally centred at Finlaggan.[13] During the 17th century the power of Clan Donald waned, but improvements to agriculture and transport led to a rising population, which peaked in the mid-19th century.[3] This was followed by substantial forced displacements and declining resident numbers. Today, Islay has over 3,000 inhabitants, and the main commercial activities are agriculture, malt whisky distillation and tourism. The island has a long history of religious observance, and Scottish Gaelic is spoken by about a quarter of the population.[14] Its landscapes have been celebrated through various art forms, and there is a growing interest in renewable energy in the form of wave power. Islay is home to many bird species such as the wintering populations of Greenland white-fronted and barnacle goose, and is a popular destination throughout the year for birdwatchers. The climate is mild and ameliorated by the Gulf Stream. The region is characterised by whiskies with a peat smoke aroma, such as Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg. In total, there are nine active distilleries on this island which measures only 25 by 15 miles (40 by 24 kilometres), and the industry is Islay's second largest employer after agriculture.Islay is a centre of "whisky tourism", and hosts a "Festival of Malt and Music" known as Fèis Ìle each year on the last week of May, with events and tastings celebrating the cultural heritage of the island.

Louisville's Michter's Distillery took top honors in the 2023 Drinks International survey to find the “world's most admired” whiskey brand. Andrea Wilson is the Master of Maturation for Michter's, as well as the company's chief operating officer, and has the final say on any whisky that carries the Michter's name. We'll talk with Andrea about the pressure of living up to that reputation, as well as her Hall of Fame whisky-making career, on this week's WhiskyCast In-Depth. In the news, Kentucky lawmakers have approved a bill to close loopholes in the state's Vintage Distilled Spirits Law. We'll have the details on that and the rest of the week's whisky news, including a rare collaboration between Australia's Starward Whisky and Lagavulin.

Jewish organizer and activist Max Geller joins me to talk about the birth of new Palestine Action chapters around the world in response to the intensified genocide that has been raging for 4 straight months. As discussed in last year's episode featuring Jodie Jones, Palestine Action is a UK-based network of activists that has permanently shut down 2 arms factories and caused millions in damages to Israel's arms dealers. The main target of this network is Elbit Systems, which Max describes as the “most evil company in the entire world." Calls to Action:Follow Palestine action on Twitter and Instagram (UK, US, France, Italy, Scotland)Take a Palestine Action direct action trainingHelp provide arrestee, court, and prison supportDonate to their Legal Defense FundCocktail Pairing: The Direct Actionist45ml Rye Whiskey22ml Campari15ml Cynar or bitter amaro8ml Peaty Scotch (like Laphraig)Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with plenty of cubed ice until drink is properly diluted and chilled. Connor gives us a rundown of his trip to the Islay region of Scotland while walking us through a tasting of this delightful whisky. Support the show on Patreon: patreon.com/whiskeynoobs

Mari Voipio commented on Facebook: "Let's just say that my utility/laundry room isn't ready for its closeup… But Celtic music makes all the sorting and folding and putting away a bit less boring." John Sharkey White, II sent a message on Patreon: "The danger of using the WayBack Machine and listening to older podcasts, is that I'm discovering bands that for whatever reason didn't stand out the first time, but now I'm loving! Is Bad Haggis together anymore? Can't find much on the inter webs. Keep up the excellent work!" Mara Williams emailed a computer picture: "Hello Mark et al, really enjoying the Irish & Celtic Music podcast – thank you! The website mentioned an interest in Sci Fi & that you sometimes write music for sci fi themes, so I am curious - have you ever written music relating to the TV Sci - Fi series Firefly (2002/2003)? Your podcast asked for a picture of what we are working on while listening – well, here it is – the ever - exciting operations guide for our microwave reactor (non - nuclear). It's a gallop of a read! My company uses these reactors to manufacture materials that will hopefully reduce the environmental footprint of batteries and other items. I would love sometime to join you all on the Celtic Invasion tour! It comes down to the usual – time and money.
