This episode features Brenden Raulerson of Glen Moray. Glen Moray Distillery has been in operation, off and on, since 1897. The distillery originated out of the Elgin West Brewery in the heart of Speyside. In the early 1900's they were "mellowing" whisky in Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc barrels. The philosophy of experimenting with cask finishes still exists today. 120 plus years of experience resonates in the amazing whisky that is being produced. This Speyside style whisky provides a depth of flavor and character. Brenden shares the rich history of Glen Moray. She was also joined on Zoom by Glen Moray's Iain Allan to discuss whisky tourism, and the malt whisky trail.Alan Winchester has worked in whisky all his career, from the cooperage to master distiller at The Glenlivet. Alan joined Rosalind on site at the distillery to chat about whisky history, smuggling, working with the national trust and his thoughts on the new visitor centre, where he features in video form.Iain discusses the wider topic of whisky tourism, how it has grown over the years and what part the malt whisky trail has played in this. During their friendly chat, Eleanor enquires about during lockdown at the Glen Moray distillery and ask Iain if there are any big plans at the distillery for the rest of this year. Iain also shares with Eleanor about how he got his start in the whisky industry and what goes into being a brand ambassador for such a popular spirit.

Graham Coull grew up in Speyside spelling "whisky" without the "e" - as any proper Scot would. It didn't help him get his first job in the Scotch Whisky industry at Glenfiddich, nor did it help him get his current job 14 years ago as the manager at Glen Moray. Next month, he'll be leaving Elgin for Ireland's Atlantic coast to become the manager at Dingle Distillery - and it'll mean learning not only new styles of making whiskey...but a new way of spelling it! Wir leiten das Finale unserer Whic Trilogie ein und schließen die Trilogie mit einer Abfüllung aus der Architecture of Taste Serie von Whic.de ab. Heute bekommen wir es mit einem spannenden 17 Jahre alten Ben Nevis Single Cask Whisky zu tun, welcher in einem Bourbon Hogshead reifte. Da uns der Glen Moray aus Whics – Nymphs of Whisky Serie schon sehr begeistern konnte, sind wir hier natürlich sehr gespannt, was der Ben Nevis zu bieten hat. Mit fasstarken 55,3 % Vol. und aus einem Einzelfass mit vorheriger Bourbon Befüllung, sind die Eckdaten ja mehr als verlockend. Übrigens wurde hier ein Fassteil statt des ganzen Fasses von Whic erstanden, was folgerichtig bedeutet, dass es von dieser Abfüllung nur eine verschwinden geringe Anzahl an Flaschen gibt. Es gibt hier genau 90 Flaschen und wir freuen uns daher einen Dram probieren zu dürfen. Wir wünschen viel Spaß beim hören. As the U.S. faces another debt crisis, this week marks the anniversary of a key event in another U.S. debt crisis...the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. On August 1, 1794, 7,000 Americans gathered at Braddock's Field in Western Pennsylvania to protest President Washington's tax on whiskey production. The protest led to a declaration of insurrection, and Washington led an army into the area to quash the rebellion. Dr. Dennis Pogue of Mount Vernon explains the history of the Whiskey Rebellion in this episode.
