After a year like 2020, the word "alignment" took on a whole new meaning for me. There were many moments when it was tempting to go after the shiny thing, instead of staying true to my own path. Whether the distractions come in the form of social media, comparison or even fear – I believe that we can all do the inner work it takes to get aligned. In this episode I share 3 ways to find clarity, master focus and ultimately be aligned for your journey. Have you ever felt like you're in a season where you would much rather hit "fast forward" and get to the good bit? Maybe comparison is looming, and discontentment building. We've all been there at some point. For some of us, this was 2020. Itching to be somewhere else, doing something else, maybe even with someone else. In this conversation, I speak with Elite Performance Coach, Mayfair Clements about why honouring the season you're in truly matters and most importantly, how we can begin to do that work. We also talk all things marriage, self-love and find out more about she got to where she is today. In this episode, I share seven lessons that I am learning from this lockdown season. I'm talking everything from the importance of self care to unhealthy habits that some of us may have been forced to hold to the light and examine. I think we can all agree that this time has afforded us the opportunity to be introspective like never before. Whether you are noticing new things about yourself or having past lessons affirmed, I believe there is always value in paying attention to how we respond to difficult seasons. These are just a few of the things I have observed about myself and others at this time. I pray more than anything that this encourages you or inspires some helpful thoughts in your day-to-day. At the most basic level, I hope it gives you some insight into how I am dealing with this time. I am sending my thoughts, love and prayers to all of us as we navigate these unprecedented times together. I don't know much as this is all new but one thing I do know, is that this too will pass. Until then, stay safe and stay home and remember to keep trusting the process. Around 3 or 4 years ago, whilst walking with Claud on one of our many in depth talks, we spoke about Trusting The Process. We envisioned, dreamed and spoke it into being. Unknowingly at the time, Claud played a significantly huge impact in helping me birth the idea you see today. fast forward a few years, and I couldn't think of any better man to honour International Men's Day 2019 with than Mr Claud Williams. Entrepreneur, Speaker and Brand Consultant, Claud is probable best known for his role as Founder and Managing Director at Dream Nation, the personal development brand fit for the 21st century. After a TED Talk experience that went less than favourably, Claud sought to create a space where he could "rewrite" what was. The beginning of "Practical Dreaming". Unknowingly, what was supposed to be a one-off event, led to the birth of the successful business we see today, Dream Nation. Listen as we talk about failing forward. How the lowest of lows can catapult you forward into your destiny, why the highs are fleeting, and how all of these different experiences have made Claud the man he is today. Back again with the much-anticipated part 2 of our conversation with Florence Adepoju, founder of acclaimed makeup brand MDMflow and beauty brand Flow Beauty Co. In this candid talk, Florence opens up about how she bounced back from a business low. Staying true to the mantra we always share here which is that “you are allowed to change your mind”, we discuss the art of the pivot in business. When is the right time to change your strategy? And how do you deal with the shame that people sometimes try to project onto you? Florence shares how a text message birthed the transition from running her businesses full time to saying yes to a 9-5. A long-awaited conversation, I sat down with girl boss, business owner and beauty obsessed Florence Adepoju of MDMflow and Flow Beauty Co. From humble beginnings in retail to formulating her own lipsticks at home - Florence has successfully built the iconic hip-hop inspired makeup brand MDM Flow. Gaining international attention from heavy weight publications Vogue, Elle and Grazia, to name a few, Florence shows how self-belief, faith and hard work can make anything possible. In part one of our chat, we talk about where it all began. How does one make the transition from their 9-5 and actually raise capital to start their own business? Are VC investments always a good idea? A true marketer, Florence identifies the importance of understanding who your audience are and who they are not. Finally, she shares how the best way to dispel the fear is by doing the work. Stay tuned for part 2, coming soon! Aloha! Happy to be back today with this solo episode for a good ole one-on-one chat about lessons from this current season I am navigating. In this episode I talk about the many ways that we prohibit our own joy; knowingly and unknowingly. A lesson I am passionate about - I offer some ways that we can actively and intentionally divorce self-sabotage and begin to truly lean into joy. I also share how investing in the quality of our relationships can dramatically improve the quality of our lives. Continuing our conversation with doctor, artist and writer Sutra, we pick things back up from the near-death experience that changed everything. Bravely, Sutra shares the realities of the effects of burnout and depression and how her mental health had hit an all-time low. But she didn't stay there. We discover how what looked like a tragedy became the turning point in her journey of practicing self-care and maintaining her well being. Disccussing the importance of being honest with yourself first, and then others, we learn how opening up, faith and love brought Sutra back to life. With Mental Health in the black community being so close to my heart, it was important for me to have this conversation with the phenomenal being that is Sutra. Sutra is the founder of the platform that is making vulnerability cool again, Poll Therapy (instagram.com/polltherapy). Doctor by profession, artist by nature (including music and literary work) Sutra boldly revels in being many things - and does it with grace. In episode 15, we sat down during Mental Health Awareness week to have an honest conversation around experiencing a loss of joy. How a close dance with death changed everything and the role of art and faith in her own healing process. We talk about discovering her creative voice in medical school. Every so often I meet someone who embodies excellence in all that they do. Hannah Ajala is one of those people. Since having the pleasure of hosting her launch party for We Are Black Journos, I have been honoured to have front row seats to the growth and journey Hannah is on. With 5 years under her belt at the prestigious BBC, at the age of 25 Hannah recently joined the BBC Africa team where her passion and creativity are making waves in sharing our stories. When she's not slaying news reports and creating viral documentaries - Hannah is a self professed "Jack of all trades, master of all". Founding movements and organisations such as mentorship programme "Pursue Your Passion", black travel community, "Black British Travel Meet Up" and women's Christian fellowship, "Ladies Who Fellowship", it's fair to say that she has her hand in many pots. In this episode (part 1 of my conversation with Hannah) we explore just how she balances so many passions and why it is important that we do the things that make us come alive. We talk about the face of journalism and ask what moves are being made in diversity and inclusion, and we also unpack what it takes to do a TED Talk, and find that rejection is often God's form of redirection. On Wednesday 6th March, over 50 people gathered together for the very first #TTPlive event, in partnership with the amazing people at Bumble. For me, the entire evening was a dream come true. From talking about a topic dear to my heart - The Courage to Take Up Space and interviewing the refreshingly brilliant Dior Bediako live, I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to share this with you. If you were there on 6th, then you'll know just how juicy this conversation with Dior of Pepper Your Talk and The Junior Network was. Now I'm giving you the opportunity to sit in the room too, because we're all family! From what it really takes to launch a business to navigating the workplace as a black woman - we cover it all. So plug in, pull out your notebook and get ready to digest some guaranteed gems.
Super excited to announce that I have teamed with the good people at Bumble Bizz to host the very first Trusting The Process LIVE event this Wednesday 6th March. In honour of International Women’s Day, on Wednesday 6th March I’ll be joined for an intimate conversation and Q&A with fellow believer & founder of Pepper Your Talk and TheJuniorNetwork (https://www.pepperyourtalk.co.uk/thejuniornetwork/), Dior Bediako. Featured in notable publications and spaces such as Refinery 29 and Stylist Live, Dior is a force to be reckoned with. From landing a role with the high-end luxury brand Burberry, as a black woman in an unfamiliar space Dior was soon launched into a new world where she was required to learn skills such as negotiation, networking and navigating the workplace, fast. She quickly saw that the issues she faced were widespread and sought to fix that. Quitting her job at Burberry, Dior stepped out in faith launching Pepper Your Talk; the unique platform created to help others find their feet within the industry. Members' club, #TheJuniorNetwork, soon followed. By maximising her network and identifying a solution to a problem, Dior has built her own table where women can navigate their careers with creativity and confidence. On the night, we’ll be unpacking the gems in her career journey from fashion grad to biz owner. From financial challenges to FOMO, we’re sharing the real tea on entrepreneurship. Come and learn from topics such as networking effectively and how to build a business that serves others as we ask “what happens when we pivot from asking for a seat at the table, and instead build our own?” LIMITED TICKETS available NOW: http://bit.ly/TTPlive

It's rare that I record unscripted and unplanned but when a conversation compels you, you create. And so inspired by an Instagram post from Bumblebizz which I recently shared on my Instagram stories instagram.com/p/Bss_9bclqvD/ - here are my thoughts on finding fulfilment in a career. Can a job really bring fulfilment to all areas of life? What happens when our job is our passion, or purpose? What does fulfilment look like for me? For you? In this think-piece episode, I hope to inspire an open discussion and also deep introspective thought, so that when it comes to careers, we can uncover and better define what truly matters to us. I had the pleasure of meeting with powerhouse and ultimate go-getter, Olamide Bada. After studying Law at SOAS, completing her Post-grad at the University of Law and going on to land a role at international law firm, Baker McKenzie, Olamide packed up her bags (and law career) and took to Nigeria for 2 years to take on the world of business. Here she quickly rose from SWAT Team Manager at Jumia Nigeria to Managing Director of Jumia Food; miles from her humble beginnings in London. For her work at Jumia Food, Olamide has since been featured by Bella Naija as their #BellaNaijaWCW and was awarded the Prize for Professional Service at The Future Awards Africa in 2017. We sat down to talk about creating a seat at the table, being your full self in a corporate environment and the realities of moving back "home". I had the pleasure of meeting the delightfully talented Cherelle Brown, founder of Kitsch Noir - a quirky, fun and contemporary line of cards which champions the voice of the underrepresented, celebrating the love and enjoyment of the black British experience. We talked about faith and the important role her belief as a Christian has played in the birth of Kitsch Noir, the realities of running a business whilst working full-time and just how she landed that HUGE Paperchase gig!? A must-listen for anyone with a budding business idea. In the second instalment of Trusting The Process, I sit down to talk with none other than the intelligent and infectiously hillarious chef/baker/marketing babe Michelle Marbie Davies. We shed some more light on Michelle's career journey so far, navigating life after loss, shooting your shot/how she met Adekunle Bae and together we free the realness on our experiences of dating Christian men and why a change has got to come (word to Sam Cooke). In the first episode of Trusting the Process, I sit down with Metro.co.uk Reporter and friend, Tobi Rachel Akingbade. In this honest and refreshing conversation, we talk about her journey from failing university twice and experiencing racial abuse very publicly to interviewing some of the most current stars and using her platform to tell important stories in the black community which formerly may have remained untold.
