The Disney Dummies are back for our second edition of Disney Book Club, which you may remember we covered the novel sequel to Pixar's Brave called Bravely (2022) on a previous episode. Well this time we are going back to the world of mermaids and sea witches as we sail the pages of The Little Mermaid universe. Speaking of, have you ever watched The Little Mermaid and wondered "Hm, I wonder what Prince Eric was thinking through that movie and what his whole deal and backstory is?" Well look no further as this week we answer just that by discussing one of the three Disney Prince Novels, with Linsey Miller's Prince of Song & Sea (2022). The post Disney Book Club – Prince of Song & Sea Book by Linsey Miller (2022) appeared first on PodCavern.
This is a live recording of a homily that Fr. Eric gave on April 20, 2025. On Easter Sunday, Fr. Eric reflects on the need to persevere in the fight to become the person that God is calling us to be. Fr. Eric cites the Gospel stories of the Road to Emmaus (Lk 24:13-35) and the beheading of John the Baptist (Mk 6:14-29). As a key example, Fr. Eric refers to a film called "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" (2002). Spoiler alert. Watch Catholic Latte on YouTube and Facebook. Today our guest is Maggie Rowe, former writer on Arrested Development and author of Sin Bravely, a book about her experiences with moral scrupulosity, or sin-focused OCD. We talk a lot about OCD on this show, so here's a guest who wrote an entire book about growing up with religious obsessions! She'll tell us about her first obsessions about what was and was not sin, how she started to analyze the Bible with a critical mind to try to understand how to avoid hell, and how her parents tried to help but her church leaders didn't understand OCD and made it worse. We'll talk about the compulsions she would engage in to make sure she was being the right amount of righteous, how she checked herself into a treatment facility for Christians, the incorrect diagnosis of bulimia she received, and how she finally got diagnosed with moral scrupulosity and began getting the treatment she actually needed. As Jesus turns water into wine, we are thinking about miraculous transformations in our own life and in our world. The "arc of the moral universe may be long," but as Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us, it bends toward justice. In the days ahead, may we bravely embrace hope and work toward the justice we long to see.

This is a BIG John and Paul episode. We're getting to the essence of something that goes beyond Beatles. Something that affects all of us. No cool stories in rock here, just raw, reactionary music journalism. We are asking the tough questions week in and week out. Bravely going where no Beatles commentary has gone before.
VYS0044 | For Fear of Little Men - Vayse to Face with Jo Hickey-Hall - Show notes They've talked of night-time scaries, they've talked of shadow men, but they daren't talk of fairies, for fear of meeting them... Bravely, valiantly, courageously, boldly confronting a topic that they have avoided delving into for the past two years, Hine and Buckley take a trip into the terrifying world of fairies with their guide, researcher podcaster and author, Jo Hickey-Hall, creator and host of the hugely successful Modern Fairy Sightings Podcast. Jo talks beautifully on the subject and the conversation flits magically around the topic on gossamer wings and a cloud of enchanted dust: what exactly are fairies? Where did the common "Tinkerbell" trope come from? Do fairy sightings herald a transitional period in the life of the observer? Are some humans part fae? Can anyone see fairies? Just how frightened should we be of the fae?... and what do Pukwudgies, puppets, pork-pie hats and the Monster Munch monsters have in common? In the deeply insightful podcast episode featuring Lynn Stroud, listeners are immersed in a profound exploration of what it truly means to be trauma informed. Stroud, a renowned advocate and expert in trauma recovery, eloquently guides us through the multifaceted layers of this crucial concept. At its core, being trauma-informed is not merely a set of techniques or protocols but a profound shift in perspective—an empathetic approach that acknowledges and respects the experiences of those who have endured trauma. Throughout the interview, Stroud illuminates the path towards becoming trauma-informed, emphasizing the importance of creating environments that foster safety, trust, and empowerment. She articulates how trauma can profoundly impact individuals across various aspects of their lives, shaping their perceptions, behaviors, and interactions. By understanding this, she argues, we can reshape our responses—from healthcare to education and beyond—to be sensitive and supportive. Drawing from her extensive experience, Stroud delves into practical strategies for cultivating a trauma-informed mindset. She stresses the significance of listening without judgment, validating survivors' experiences, and recognizing the resilience that often emerges from adversity. Her insights paint a picture of transformational potential, where institutions and communities can become healing spaces rather than inadvertently perpetuating harm. Moreover, Stroud addresses common misconceptions about trauma and emphasizes the need for ongoing education and awareness. She highlights how integrating trauma-informed practices not only enhances individual well-being but also contributes to a more compassionate and inclusive society. Her words resonate with a call to action, urging listeners to consider how they can contribute to creating environments that prioritize safety, respect autonomy, and foster genuine healing. Lynn Stroud's interview serves as a beacon of understanding and compassion, offering a roadmap for listeners to embark on their own journey towards becoming more trauma informed. It's a reminder that by embracing empathy, knowledge, and proactive change, we can collectively build a world where survivors are not only heard but supported in their paths to healing and empowerment. This episode leaves a lasting impression, inspiring us to reflect on how we can all play a role in creating a more trauma-informed society. Here are some links and websites I hope you'll find interesting and inspiring! Please check ‘em out!

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- From their X social media account, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic stated: “Last night, based partially on evidence uncovered in the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic's recent staff report and public hearing, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services commenced individual debarment proceedings against Dr. Peter Daszak, President of EcoHealth Alliance, Inc. This move comes one week after the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services issued an immediate, government-wide suspension on all taxpayer funds allocated to EcoHealth. Dr. Daszak's individual debarment will prevent him from receiving funds from the U.S. taxpayer.” 3:20pm- On Wednesday, Dr. David Morens, a former top adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci, testified during a House Oversight and Accountability Select Coronavirus Pandemic Subcommittee—over allegations he erased emails related to the origins of COVID-19. 3:35pm- Rich has a cold—and bravely fights back a sneeze on air. 3:40pm- Rich, Matt, and Henry discuss which segments they should include in Monday's Memorial Day “Best of” broadcast.
