I'm still enjoying this series, in which everything the main character has thought to be true about his life and world unravels as he discovered how much more lies outside the shadowy boundaries of his life. (listening to with Tanner): Brian's Hunt—the final book in the survival classic series that developed after Hatchet. Since I last wrote, we also listened to The River, Brian's Winter, and Brian's Return. We also continued our Gary Paulsen festival by listening to Northwind, which is about a Viking-era type of boy who has to survive alone on the sea.(listening to by self): Sisters in the Wind—I've barely begun this one, as I only recently finished listening to Warrior Girl, Unearthed. This is the third book following Firekeeper's Daughter, but it actually takes place temporally between the events of Firekeeper and Warrior Girl. I actually liked Warrior Girl, Unearthed more than Firekeeper's Daughter overall, but I was really left frustrated by the many holes in the ending. What does play mean to you today?Where might you be trying to “straighten” what is meant to be delightfully cattywampus? What would it feel like to bless the imperfect instead of fixing it?Where can you soften in your life—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually? What rough edges are currently rubbing at your spirit, and how might you soften them?Where do you feel “thin,” leaky, or drained in your life or energy body right now? What fears or resentments are hurting you from the inside out? What would it look like to begin releasing even a little of that today? If your heart could speak freely, what would it say it needs in order to remember how to be whole? What idea, project, or dream are you ready to make manifest in this season?Affirmations:I allow playfulness to enrich my life.I find pleasure in the small moments.I follow what pleases me.I am rich in so many ways.I understand the sacred nature of the cattywampus way.I embrace the tender beauty in imperfection.I am playful.I dance in the love light of a benevolent Mother Goddess.I am rooted in love.I pause and return to center.I breathe deep and listen.I allow myself to delight in the sweetness of life.I am open to ease in the present.I soften and rediscover sweetness.I remember I am already whole.I am fierce and wild.Inhabiting the crossroads…I watch the orioles, orange and black embersagainst a backdrop of green. They do not know what is on my lists.Standing under this sky, this day,I remember:when we let the litany of the undonerun away with us,we forget to inhabit the real. The orioles are here today.Tomorrow is still only a rumor.Sometimes I feel like I've been “camping out” at a long, extended crossroads—combination of midlife re-evaluation, changing family constellations and needs, and simply living in the in‑between on a changing earth.Midlife invites us to recognize and hold the reality that we can't live every possible life and can't say yes to every shimmering door. But you can:+Listen for your own full yes from the wise guide within. +Make peace with the paths that must pass you by.+Trust that new doors appear because you let others close.A mini blessing for today:“May I choose with wise discernment, even when it means letting good things go.”Embodying the Goddess: Guest Video about BeautySo pleased to share this guest video from Cynthia Abulafia, the author of Embodying the Goddess with you as a special subscriber bonus this month!Where the magic is…This is where the magic is, right where we are, where we touchthe mighty mystery, step into the sacred, and ease into the boundless, right where it touches us.Gently, now, we invite ourselves to remember.Bravely, now, we invite ourselves to reclaim.Firmly, now, we invite ourselves to return. We need not seek the absolute or long for the holy,we need only to open our eyes and reach out our hands, right here, right now, we have already arrived.Sending love to all of you.Keep living your magic, Molly, Mark, + Family This is a public episode. A new MP3 sermon from Truth For Life - Alistair Begg is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Proclaiming Boldly, Suffering Bravely Subtitle: Messages from Truth For Life Speaker: Alistair Begg Broadcaster: Truth For Life - Alistair Begg Event: Conference Date: 2/7/2026 Bible: 2 Timothy 2:1-7 Length: 42 min.
While an approach to Christianity that treats it as a soft option may sound attractive, it's certainly not scriptural. Truly biblical discipleship is muscular, demanding, and thoughtful. The apostle Paul made this clear to Timothy as he urged him to proclaim the Gospel boldly and to suffer for it bravely. In this conference message, Alistair Begg examines the three word pictures Paul used to clarify the believer's daily need for devotion, discipline, and diligence in the Christian life.
Payton Alexander was living a healthy and normal life for a 14 year old until late in 2017 when she began experiencing symptoms that needed to be checked out. These symptoms led to her diagnosis of Ewings Sarcoma in January of 2018. Payton continued to try and live as good of a life as possible as she joined the Make A Wish and Little Warrior Foundations to try and help other patients suffering from Pediatric Cancer. Payton fought for 3 1/2 years with this Bone Cancer before her passing in November of 2021 when she was 19. Her mom Kim, who talked beautifully about her beloved daughter during our podcast, has been involved in the cause of Pediatric Cancer since Kim's passing, with her Payton Alexander Foundation.
Send us Fan MailApparently Commander wanted to hear me tell him to shut the fuck up in person! So, I did! MANY times! Me and Punisher talk with Commander about a lot including how he ended up on an episode of Real Housewives! Yeah! That's what we said too! Check this one out!

8. Bunker 8: Political Corruption and the Path to War. As Truman faced sinking approval ratings and corruption scandals, Margaret Chase Smith bravely challenged McCarthyism shortly before the North Korean sneak attack changed the world. Guest: Nick Bunker.
In this episode of Partnering Leadership, Mahan Tavakoli is joined by Margie Warrell, a global leadership advisor and the author of The Courage Gap. The conversation goes beyond familiar ideas about confidence and resilience to explore what courage really looks like when leaders are facing uncertainty, fear, and high-stakes decisions.Drawing on her upbringing on a small dairy farm in Australia and decades of work with senior leaders, Margie reframes courage not as bravado or fearlessness, but as a practical leadership capability. One that becomes essential when leaders are navigating disruption, AI-driven change, anxious workforces, and expectations to have answers they simply cannot have.A central theme of the discussion is identity. Margie challenges leaders to stop asking only “What should I do?” and instead ask, “Who do I need to be right now?” She explains why leadership effectiveness often hinges less on technical expertise and more on emotional regulation, values-based decision-making, and the ability to act even when fear is present. The conversation also tackles topics many executives experience but rarely discuss openly, including imposter syndrome, fear of judgment, and the pressure to project certainty. Margie offers grounded insights on why these experiences are common among high performers and how leaders can work with fear rather than being constrained by it.This episode is a thoughtful, practical exploration of what courageous leadership looks like in real organizational contexts, not in theory, but in the moments where leaders are stretched, uncomfortable, and most needed by their teams.Actionable TakeawaysYou'll learn why fear isn't a leadership failure, and how ignoring it can quietly limit decision-making and impact.Hear how asking “Who do I need to be right now?” can bring clarity when priorities feel overwhelming. You'll discover why imposter syndrome often shows up in capable, experienced leaders, and what actually helps move through it.Hear how courage expands a leader's range of choices while fear tends to narrow it.You'll learn why emotional regulation has become one of the most critical leadership skills in uncertain environments.Hear how values can serve as an anchor for leadership decisions when certainty is unavailable. You'll explore what “one-minute brave” looks like in real leadership moments, not as a slogan, but as a practice.Hear how leaders can stabilize anxiety within their organizations rather than unintentionally amplifying it.Connect with Margie WarrellMargie Warrell Website Margie Warrell LinkedInThe Courage Gap: 5 Steps to Braver ActionConnect with Mahan Tavakoli: Mahan Tavakoli Website Mahan Tavakoli on LinkedIn Partnering Leadership Website

Jesus doesn't come to make us comfortable — he calls ordinary people to live bravely, love dangerously, and resist a hardened world with mercy.
2026 is here and you know what that means-- 2 months ago all the music publications listed their favorite records of the year! Bravely and hotly we waited until the year was done before deciding our favorites, which happened to turn out to mostly be the ones from the publications you already read, but said with our voices! Also up for discussion: Movies are the new talkies and there were many this year per Lucas' ranking, Chris razzles and or dazzles with 10 different album of the year categories, and Charlie just does a top 5 albums because no one discussed what the rules of this thing would be beforehand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8E9TAk1LV8 George Korkovelos, Cultural Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (M-L), gives a short but powerful presentation of the lasting cultural legacy of the Great Socialist October Revolution of 1917. Lenin and the Bolsheviks, in revolutionising Russia, set culture the task of going amongst the working class and peasant masses to truly serve it. The masses must be elevated to the heights of culture. Culture should not be flattened to its lower level. The October Revolution was a true renaissance in human activity and this was reflected in the flowering of its culture. Turning from words to song: George introduces Comrade Eleanore who sings three beautiful songs, each of profound revolutionary significance. 1. “Song of the Volga Boatmen”. A timeless song lamenting the oppression of the toilers, sighing under the oppression of serfdom in the Russian Empire. When Robeson sung the song he united it with the masses of the oppressed throughout the world, in particular with the sufferings of the oppressed black workers and peasants in the USA itself. 2. "Whirlwinds of Danger," an English translation of the Polish socialist revolutionary song "Warszawianka". Paul Robeson recorded a version of this song, much loved by the English and Welsh miners and working class. It was a song sung by the revolutionary people's movements abroad Europe, from Poland to Russia, during the period of the 1880s until the October Revolution. 3. “Bravely, comrades, let's march”. Lyrics by the revolutionary poet Leonid Petrovich Radin, written in 1897 following his imprisonment in Moscow's Taganskaya prison for his dedication to the liberation of the working masses. This song led the Russian workers to October and, enduring the Civil War, resounded on all fronts as the marching anthem of the Red Army. Comrade Eleanore's beautiful voice brings these sacred hymns of the working class to life for us once more. Subscribe! Donate! You shrug and say, “That's just life.”The old dreams? You've dimmed their fire. Yet deep inside, a small flame still burns — you know it does. I call this the Sustainable Pain Zone: the place where you sustain a pain that isn't strong enough to force immediate action, yet far away from a life that truly fulfills you. This book shows you how to escape it — how to stop settling, playing it safe, or staying small. How to stop tolerating what drains you and step into the life you are meant to live.Fully. Bravely. Consistency over perfection is the theme for today. Bravely answering the question "what's true for me in this season?" It's my last full day in Bali, and I almost let the "I deserve" girlie in me talk me out of recording. Harriet Tubman is an icon for freedom. She first fled slavery with two brothers on September 17, 1849. By the following year, she was returning to save others. She traveled by night, from safe house to safe house, supported by a network of abolitionists known as the Underground Railroad. Walking north to Pennsylvania—a free state. She would make 13 trips back and forth throughout the 1850s and early 1860s. She rescued roughly 70 people from enslavement. Sudhir Vadaketh, Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Jom, returns to BRAVE after four years to share how he built a long-form journalism outlet in Singapore. He and Jeremy Au discuss the journey from solo writer to team manager, the real risks and support systems behind independent media, and how Jom navigates Singapore's evolving boundaries on speech. They unpack the emotional weight of managing editorial freedom, public fear of backlash, and what bravery looks like in today's media landscape. Sudhir also explains how Jom could grow across Southeast Asia while staying rooted in local storytelling. 02:00 Sudhir founded Jom to fill a missing niche in literary journalism: After years of contributing to platforms like Mothership and RICE, Sudhir realized that Singapore lacked a long-form, English-language publication focused on literary, thoughtful reporting. He launched Jom with ambitions to serve not just Singapore but a growing English-speaking audience across Southeast Asia. 04:00 Building the team started with salary stability and trust: To attract good people and avoid early burnout, Sudhir promised his co-founders and first employee a two-year minimum runway with modest pay. He prioritized financial stability overgrowth, knowing many media ventures collapse when salaries can't be sustained. 09:49 Collaborative journalism values shaped Jom's internal culture: Sudhir brought the collaborative instincts from his journalism background into Jom's management. Team members collectively weigh in on everything—from editorial language on sensitive topics to pricing event tickets—creating a shared sense of responsibility and editorial rigor. 12:25 The team's reaction to POFMA exposed leadership blind spots: When Jom received three POFMA correction orders, Sudhir took it in stride, but his teammates—especially younger ones—were rattled. He learned that being a leader also means holding emotional space and directly addressing the team's concerns in moments of pressure. 22:53 Fear of online backlash affects contributors and limits open dialogue: Writers and interviewees are often hesitant to go public, even on non-political pieces, due to fears of doxxing, trolling, or professional retaliation. This culture of fear, fueled by social media and polarized discourse, creates challenges for independent media. 30:38 Jom's expansion model will prioritize local content through decentralized teams: Sudhir envisions future Jom teams embedded in cities like KL, Bangkok, or Jakarta. Each would produce 80 percent local content and 20 percent regional stories, ensure relevance and avoiding a top-down, Singapore-centric approach to Southeast Asia. Today our guest is Maggie Rowe, former writer on Arrested Development and author of Sin Bravely, a book about her experiences with moral scrupulosity, or sin-focused OCD. We talk a lot about OCD on this show, so here's a guest who wrote an entire book about growing up with religious obsessions! She'll tell us about her first obsessions about what was and was not sin, how she started to analyze the Bible with a critical mind to try to understand how to avoid hell, and how her parents tried to help but her church leaders didn't understand OCD and made it worse. We'll talk about the compulsions she would engage in to make sure she was being the right amount of righteous, how she checked herself into a treatment facility for Christians, the incorrect diagnosis of bulimia she received, and how she finally got diagnosed with moral scrupulosity and began getting the treatment she actually needed.
