This week on To My Sisters, we're honored to sit down with the powerhouse that is Ray Blk for a conversation that's as raw as it is inspiring.
I've always been a firm believer that once we're aware of our neurodivergence, we all need to be 'Tapping into our ADHD Gold'. I even created a workshop (check it out here) specifically about this, as I believe that when we reframe our strengths and stop focussing as much on all our challenges and what we can't do, the ADHD genius is given more space to expand! And this is what we talk about in today's episode with my guest, Kara Marni, a rising soul and R&B vocalist who has been on a steady ascension since 2019 when she headlined the Pussy Parlure stage at Glastonbury before embarking on a sold-out UK & European tour. In this period, the singer/writer has gone on to support many notable artists, from Lewis Capaldi to Rita Ora, Raye and Ray BLK to name a few, with a string of festivals and high-profile performances to her name, including Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. Kara is a family girl who grew up in a house of music (& food) lovers and credits her Greek ancestry for a confident personality, big appetite and big hair. Seldom short of something to say, Kara is a self-professed chatterbox, injecting her creativity and high energy into her lyricism. A self-taught guitarist, Kara recently partnered with supporters Fender as a part of their impressive roster. On today's ADHD women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Kara speak about:Focusing the energy of ADHD children in schoolFinding the right educational environment for ADHDKara's passion for music and perfromingThe joy of channelling your hyper-focus positively Being creative over academic in the school systemBeing mindful without meditation Leaning into self-care to prevent burnoutKnowing your energy and how to work with it Choosing to be sober with ADHDYou can find out more about Kara on Instagram, @karamarni Try Get Dopa here with 10% discount: https://bit.ly/adhdwomenswellbeing10Kate Moryoussef is a women's ADHD Lifestyle & Wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner helping overwhelmed yet unfulfilled (many with ADHD like her) women find more calm, balance, health, compassion, creativity and clarity.

Today's guest studied at King's College London, completed a computer science course at Harvard University and her company Babes on Waves has won a grant from the Clear Futures Initiative, been featured in the Guardian, Huffington Post, and BBC Politics. It goes without saying that she's got an incredibly impressive CV. But Jasmine has been very vocal about growing up with low self confidence, self esteem and internalised racism. Now in her mid-twenties, she's the founder of Babes on Waves, the first diverse female founders club for next-gen Black & POC female founders, giving them tools to build confidence in themselves and their brand. Through Babes on Waves she launched the BLOOM TOGETHER CAPSULE COLLECTION raising an amazing £500 for Sistah Space, for black female survivors of domestic abuse. More recently, she's announced an incredible partnership and campaign with office shoes and converse london, AND hosted THE international women's day event to remember, with tonnes of guest speakers incl. singer Ray BLK amongst others. Her ultimate mission is to create a world where all women can champion one another, and make their dreams a reality. When asked what her career has taught her in life so far, she very thoughtfully answered - “that everything is always working out for you, even if you can't see it” which is the perfect sentiment for this podcast. https://www.instagram.com/babesonwavesclub/ https://www.instagram.com/transatlanticbabe/

Joeboy, Ray BLK, 2baba and Ayra Starr discuss their best choruses, the direction Nigerian music is going in, mums crying to their music, and why it's important to remember: “if I can't remember the lyrics or melody to my own song, how can anybody else?” Mr Eazi protégé Joeboy blends Afrobeats, R&B and pop and was discovered online covering Ed Sheeran. He's just released his debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic. 2Baba is one of Nigeria's biggest pop icons. He's a singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur who found fame with his international hit African Queen in 2006, and has worked with everybody from Burna Boy to WizKid and Tiwa Savage. Nigerian-Beninese artist Ayra Starr is tipped to be West Africa's first female global teen superstar, the voice of a generation on the rise. She's gained fans all over the world for her blend of trap, Afropop and R&B, and racked up 3 million views for her smash single Away. And finally, Nigerian-born London-based singer Ray BLK is one of the most important voices coming out of the UK right now. She's been called “the UK's answer to Lauryn Hill” for her ability to blend different genres and take on subjects ranging from youth violence to female empowerment.
