Our goals: To give authors a platform to showcase their work while providing knowledge, tips, and resources to other authors and writers. About the HOST: For the past 50 years, Anthony Manna has taught reading, writing, literacy development, drama and language arts in schools and universities in the United States and around the world. His goal is to help kids and teens discover great books and exciting activities and games that'll get them reading, writing, and thinking. His website provides parents and educators with information and guides that support the success of their children, tweens, and, teens as readers and writers and encourages them to enjoy discovering books that will set them on the right path. You can learn about Anthony's books such as Loukas and the Game of Chance, The Orphan: A Cinderella Story from Greece, Mr. Semolina-Semolinus: A Greek Folktale, and Greek Folktales: A Treasury of Delights by visiting his website. About our GUEST: As a children's book author, teacher, parent, and grandparent, Professor Stork believes picture books help change the world for the better. They can make the world a friendlier place by empowering children to make a difference. Leading the charge will be children ages four through eleven. During these formative years, children are motivated to learn how they can, individually and with friends, empower their sense of purpose. The tools we give them during these years last a lifetime, and when the time is right, they will know how to make a positive difference in the world. Children's books are a powerful tool to distract children away from screens and off devices, where the influencers and influences they interact with may not be delivering the strongest positive messages, in terms of helping them build a healthy lifestyle. Our mission is to provide parents with picture books that deliver messages and entertainment they'll be proud to place in the hands of their children. Our pledge is to provide your child with books that respect his or her intelligence? Books that open important conversations between you and your child? Books that nurture your child's innate sense and understanding of purpose? Books that build leadership skills? Books that give your child hours of enjoyment rather than minutes? Isn't it time you joined the Professor Stork revolution? Find more at https://professorstork.com

GUEST: “It's the little moments that, if we're paying attention, can create the biggest impact on our lives.” One day, when Susan's granddaughter was about two years old, she came into the kitchen wearing Susan's oversized high heels, proclaiming, “I'm Grandma!” It was one of those profound moments, as Susan watched her granddaughter proudly stomp around the kitchen in her shoes, that made her stop and consider the question: “Are you happy with the legacy you are leaving your kids and grandkids?” The answer was a resounding…No! Susan started to look at areas of her life that fell short, and she wasn't happy with the legacy she had created up to that point. So, she began to work on herself—transformational work. She declared that the legacy she was going to leave would create such a positive ripple effect that it would carry through for many future generations to come! The image of Susan's granddaughter in her oversized high heels never left her, and it made her wonder what else her granddaughter was seeing while wearing her shoes? Along with Susan's journey to give her children and grandchildren a powerful legacy, the moment inspired her to write a picture book about a child's adventure into the lives of his family by wearing their shoes. Since the publication of Special Shoes for My Little Feet, Susan continues to write for children. She lives with her family and two cats, Leo and Arlo, in Northern California.

GUESTS: A.D. Williams learned early on how powerful representation is in books. Ensuring that kids can see and feel success through the lens of characters that look and face many of the same challenges they do. When I was growing up no one talked about investing, wealth, business plans or how to acquire real wealth,” said A.D. His underlying motivation is that this book will ignite discussions around finances in households across the world and be a seed that blossoms until wealth equity for our children. In addition to his writing, A.D. is a children hospital administrator, private investor, and entrepreneur. Kendal Fordham grew up in a home brimming with financial literacy. Her father tried eagerly to engage all his children in economics, financial planning, and investing as children. Out of the three children, Kendal found it fascinating. Straight out of college, Kendal studied hard and became a fully licensed Financial Professional. A year later as a Dave Ramsey endorsed financial professional, she started her own business as a financial and investment advisor. It didn't take long for her to realize the value in her skillset, but after becoming a mother, Kendal saw how crucial it was to plant the seed of this knowledge into our youth. Kendal is the mother to 2 young children, a landlord, a multi business owner, a mentor, and now, an author. GUEST: Janet Wong was born in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of a Chinese-immigrant father and a Korean-immigrant mother. She grew up in Los Angeles and in San Anselmo, 20 miles northwest of San Francisco. After graduating from UCLA, Janet attended Yale Law School and went on to practice corporate and labor law for GTE and Universal Studios Hollywood. But after a few years of not feeling satisfied with her work, she chose to write for young people instead. “I couldn't think of anything more important than working with kids.” Success as a children's author did not come easily for Janet; she received over 20 rejection letters for her early picture book manuscripts, and felt “like a failure” after a year of writing. “I almost decided to return to the law, but then I remembered what my husband had said, the night before I quit my law job: 'Why don't you write for a year — and it doesn't matter if you get published. If you love it, keep on doing it.'” Janet did love writing, and she decided to take writing classes at UCLA, where she studied with the accomplished children's poet Myra Cohn Livingston. Myra urged Janet to “read, read, read, at least a dozen books a week.” With Myra's help, Janet's first collection of poetry, Good Luck Gold, was published in 1994. Janet is the author of more than 30 books for children and teens. Her poetry collections and picture books explore a wide range of topics including human diversity in Apple Pie 4th of July, yoga positions in Twist: Yoga Poems, dreams in Night Garden, and poems about driving in Behind the Wheel. Her poems have been reprinted in many textbooks and anthologies, as well as in some more unusual venues. “Albert J. Bell” from A Suitcase of Seaweed was selected to appear on 5,000 subway and bus posters as part of the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority's “Poetry in Motion” program, and poems from Behind the Wheel have been featured on a car-talk radio show. Janet's awards include Bank Street Best Books of the Year, CBC/NCSS Notable Social Studies Trade Book, Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award Honor. A Book Links Lasting Connection Book, NYPL Book for the Teenage, and Asian Pacific American Librarians' Association Award. She also received the International Reading Association's “Celebrate Literacy Award,” presented by the Foothill Reading Council for exemplary service in the promotion of literacy. Articles by and about Janet have appeared in Scholastic's Instructor magazine, Creative Classroom, Booklinks, and O magazine; Janet and her work have been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and other television programs.
