Michael Gentile, strategic investor in the junior mining sector and co-founder of Bastion Asset Management, discusses the current state of the gold mining industry and its potential for mean reversion. He highlights that gold mining stocks are trading at depressed levels despite record-high gold prices, creating a compelling entry point for investors. Gentile notes that while gold prices have tripled since 2018, gold mining stocks have lagged behind, offering significant value. Gentile emphasizes the importance of investing in commodities during periods of low sentiment and depressed prices, as this setup often precedes substantial returns. He points to historical cycles where negative sentiment and undervaluation led to major rebounds in gold mining stocks. Gentile also underscores the strong fundamentals of the industry, including record margins and free cash flow generation, which he attributes to higher gold prices and stable costs. He contrasts the current market with past periods, such as 2015-2020, where similar conditions led to significant rallies in gold mining stocks. Gentile believes that the sector is poised for a rotation, driven by improving fundamentals and macroeconomic factors like central bank buying of gold and geopolitical uncertainties. He also notes that while tech stocks have outperformed gold mining stocks historically, the latter now offers a unique opportunity due to its undervaluation. Gentile advises investors to diversify their exposure to the sector through ETFs or baskets of producing companies before moving into higher-risk junior miners. He stresses patience and a long-term perspective, as building mines takes time and requires careful consideration of jurisdictional risks and infrastructure challenges. In conclusion, Gentile sees the gold mining sector as a multi-year tailwind driven by macroeconomic trends, including the repositioning of gold as a hedge against inflation and the US dollar's decline. He encourages investors to allocate at least 5-10% of their portfolios to gold or related equities to preserve wealth in uncertain times. Three Catalysts that Could Send Crocs' Stock SoaringOriginally recorded: May 9, 2025Some great investment opportunities are sexy tech companies that are growing quickly and everyone is familiar with. But others can be boring shoe companies, who are growing slowly and yet are ridiculously profitable.Crocs (Nasdaq: CROX) is an example of the latter. Stuck between the uncertainties of a recession, slowing consumer spending, and a trade war, CROX is now selling for just 7x its trailing earnings. That's very cheap; a clear sign the market is putting these shares on the bargain rack. But Simon has found three hidden catalysts that he believes could drive the price of this small-cap significantly higher. He discussed them on today's 7investing podcast. This show is sponsored by Prophet. Prophet's AI engine incorporates fundamental and technical analysis to make stock recommendations every month. With an outstanding track record over 16 years, it's the perfect tool for passive investors who want actionable ideas but don't have a lot of time.Through 7investing's exclusive partnership, new members can get a $50 discount and also the first two months free by visiting https://www.useprophet.com/7investingBut hurry: this no-upfront-cost deal is only available until July 7th!
Jake Clopton thinks there are a lot of negative catalysts for the housing market, from tariffs to interest rates and more. He argues that supply constraints are driving up prices even as demand stays low, which tends to lower prices. He thinks that it "might get worse" for people that are waiting on the sidelines. Clopton also looks at different regions in the country, including Chicago and the Southwest.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

In this thought-provoking episode, we sit down with Jan Sedlacek, a self-described "black sheep" of Catalysts, to explore the hard truths about driving transformation within large organizations. In his early career, he experienced "Move Fast. Break Shit. Burn Out." Jan shares really authentically and vulnerably about a really tough moment in his life where he felt like he really failed and experience trauma (see article below). This informed the work he does now, which starts with really deep listening about the appetite for change in organizations. He provocatively compares many large-scale change initiatives to "cleaning the letter T on the Titanic as it's going down," urging Catalysts to get clear on where they can truly succeed—whether in their current role or somewhere new. Jan lays out a practical framework for assessing whether an organization is positioned for meaningful change, highlighting three critical factors:A clear strategy and visionGenuine top-level commitment and mandatesA realistic runway to execute changeOne of his biggest insights? How you organize your organization is just as crucial as how you execute transformation. If you're a Catalyst struggling to navigate corporate inertia—or wondering if it's time to move on—this episode is packed with actionable wisdom you won't want to miss.Original music by Lynz Floren.

On today's episode of the Illumination by Modern Campus podcast, podcast host Shauna Cox was joined by Amy Wartham to discuss the evolving role of colleges and universities, and the barriers to effective employer partnerships.
In this “getting real” episode, we're joined by Amer Iqbal, Founder & CEO of 5 Ways to Innovate, to discuss the unique challenges and opportunities Catalysts face when driving transformation in large organizations. Amer dives deep into the realities of confronting the "corporate immune system," the entrenched resistance to change that can feel insurmountable.Drawing on his extensive experience, Amer shares powerful strategies for breaking through: getting airtime to share your ideas widely, building disciples who champion your vision, and using compelling storytelling and data to bring people on board. But Amer also candidly addresses the emotional toll this journey can take, revealing how he manages the frustration and harnesses anger as a surprising superpower.Far from being a detriment, Amer argues that anger is a signal that we care deeply—and a wellspring of energy to drive change. His advice for channeling this energy into meaningful progress includes:Finding your tribe—the people who understand and support your visionIdentifying your release valve—the practices that help you process and refocusSeeking inspiration—from individuals and experiences that reignite your passionFor Catalysts navigating resistance and looking for tools to turn frustration into fuel, this conversation is a must-listen.Original music by Lynz Floren.
In this compelling episode, Bryon Kroger, founder and CEO of Rise8 and the former COO of the U.S. Air Force's groundbreaking Kessel Run program, reflects on his journey from intelligence officer to software innovator and leader of transformative change. Bryon shares candid lessons learned from catalyzing digital transformation within one of the largest bureaucracies in the world and offers a nuanced perspective on the interplay between rebellion and revolution in creating lasting impact.A central theme of the conversation is the distinction Bryon draws between rebels and revolutionaries. While rebels may succeed in challenging the status quo, revolutionaries think long-term, building alliances and maintaining patience to achieve sustainable change. Bryon shares his own experiences navigating this balance, reflecting on moments where his rebellious instincts needed to give way to the humility and strategy of a true revolutionary. His insights provide a framework for leaders aiming to drive progress without alienating stakeholders.Drawing on Simon Wardley's Pioneer, Settler, Planner model, Bryon illustrates how Catalysts serve as vital bridges between visionary pioneers and methodical planners to drive organizational change. He unpacks the delicate balance of maintaining strategic patience while acting with tactical urgency, emphasizing the importance of vision, humility, and active listening to inspire others to embrace change. As an executive, Bryon underscores the critical need to "create other Catalysts," explaining how scaling leadership through cultural transformation and skill development fosters sustainable growth. Reflecting on his transition from government to private sector leadership, Bryon shares his evolving approach to navigating resistance and offers powerful advice for knowing when to persevere or walk away from a battle to win the broader war.Original music by Lynz Floren.

In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Patti Fletcher, author of Disrupters: Success Strategies From Women Who Break the Mold, to explore the concepts of Disruptors and Catalysts—and why business needs these innate change-makers now more than ever to drive sustainable outcomes.Patti challenges the traditional mindset (and us!) around the language of “empowering” Catalysts, urging leaders instead to acknowledge the inherent power within individuals and focus on equipping them to lead transformational change. She emphasizes the critical shift from transactional leadership to transformational leadership—where executives, including Catalysts, don't just direct but actively remove obstacles and create environments where change can thrive. We also dive into the concept of decision interruption, a powerful method to disrupt unconscious bias without shame or blame. Patti reminds us that real change happens when we understand how and why people think the way they do—and then bring them along on the journey. You won't want to miss this compelling conversation that will leave you rethinking leadership, agency, and potentially even your path to meaningful impact. As Patti writes:“My catalyst came when I realized I wasn't put on this earth to fulfill someone else's dream. I made the conscious choice to leave that trajectory so I could find my own path to happiness”Original music by Lynz Floren.

In this podcast episode of Palisades Gold Radio, your host Tom Bodrovics welcomes back Michael Oliver from Momentum Structural Analysis. A length discussion on the outlook for silver and gold, stock market trends, and broader economic factors ensues. Oliver explains his $250 target for silver as realistic, noting historical precedents where silver outperformed gold during bull markets. He highlights the spread between silver and gold, emphasizing that silver could reach 2% of gold's price, a significant move from its current level of around 1.13%. This would translate to a substantial increase in silver prices if gold rises significantly. Oliver believes gold will lead the way up but notes silver and gold miners may outperform due to their lower valuations relative to gold. He shows charts indicating gold's strength against the S&P 500, with gold currently at about 45% of the index compared to a peak of 60%. Gold's momentum remains strong despite minor pullbacks. Oliver warns that the stock market bubble is set to burst. He expects asset managers to shift funds into gold and related assets as the market weakens. The gold miners index (XAU) is undervalued compared to gold, suggesting significant potential gains once investors begin to reallocate capital. Oliver discusses the dollar's potential decline, noting a critical momentum level that could signal a broader downtrend. A weaker dollar would likely boost commodities and gold, though he cautions against tying this directly to political factors like Trump's policies. Reflecting on his book on anarcho-capitalism, Oliver suggests a shift away from statism toward market-driven solutions. He speculates that events like the stock market crash could catalyze significant policy changes, including tax reforms or central bank abolition. J. Michael Oliver entered the financial services industry in 1975 on the Futures side, joining E.F. Hutton's International Commodity Division, headquartered in New York City's Battery Park. He studied under David Johnston, head of Hutton's Commodity Division and Chairman of the COMEX. In the 1980s, Mike began to develop his proprietary momentum-based method of technical analysis. He learned early on that orthodox price chart technical analysis left many unanswered questions and too often deceived those who trusted in price chart breakouts, support/resistance, and so forth. In 1987 Mike technically anticipated and caught the Crash. It was then that he decided to develop his structural momentum tools into a full analytic methodology. In 1992, the Financial VP and head of Wachovia Bank's Trust Department asked Mike to provide soft dollar research to Wachovia. Within a year, Mike shifted from brokerage to full-time technical analysis. He is also the author of The New Libertarianism: Anarcho-Capitalism.
