We all know someone who's constantly singing, whether it's in the car, the shower or while doing chores. Darren "Whackhead" Simpson poses as a producer from Idols. He calls up his prank victim and gives her a spiel about fast-tracking her as a top 10 finalist if she passes the phone audition. She's all but happy to oblige and belts out 'Old McDonald Had A Farm' in the hopes to make it on the talent show. The prank turns sour when Simon Cowell joins the call and critiques her rendition of Adele's 'Someone like you'. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's the book with its own radio show, and Wink Martindale is on the phone from Los Angeles! Red Robinson: The Last Broadcast, is available now from friesenpress.com, chaptersindigo.ca, amazon.com, amazon.ca, barnesandnoble.com, play.google.com and books.apple.com "The Last Broadcast" with Red's special guests Pat O'Day and Bruce Allen aired on CISL650/Vancouver on August 27, 2017. "As Robinson smiles, Martindale says, 'Someone asked me yesterday, 'Do you ever think about retiring?' And I think about Art Linkletter's line and reply: 'Retire from what? Hell, I'm not tired.' What Robinson thinks about this remark is anyone's guess, but speculation is cut short by Red stating, 'Wink, I appreciate all of this, the great stories: that's what radio used to be all about.' 'Yes. We used to be able to get on the air and talk like that. It didn't matter whether it took five seconds, or five minutes. We would tell a story and tie it to the music, and unfortunately these good days are gone forever.' In this episode, Wink tells the story of his 1959 million-seller 'Deck of Cards', and working with Vancouver broadcaster Wayne Cox on a couple of TV game shows.
In 2003 I made friends with a man who was about 60 years old. He was easy to talk to and when he found out that I loved the paranormal he told me of an event that happened to him and girlfriend decades earlier. They had parked in the centre of a car park, late at night, in a place called Carrick's Picnic Area near Blanchland. He was sitting with his eyes closed listening to the radio when his girlfriend said 'Someone's just looked in the window!'.He looked out her window to see nothing but darkness and when he turned to look out of his window he saw a bald head rising up with a pale face looking straight at him. He instinctively pushed the door open and jumped out to chase off whoever it was. There was no-one there. He looked around the entire car park, and realized the only place someone could be was under the car, as no-one could run off from the centre of a car park so quickly....................... A mysterious Bigfoot-like creature was spotted crossing an upstate highway half a mile from where a similar-looking beast was sighted 12 years ago, A driver was headed to Vermont at around at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday when he witnessed the 6-foot upright-walking ape stepping over a guardrail along Route 4 in Whitehall, said Paul Bartholomew, an investigator and author specializing in Sasquatch encounters. “He was stunned. His jaw just dropped open,” said Bartholomew. “But this is actually a very typical type of sighting.”The witness described the creature to Bartholomew as black and hairy with two legs, wide shoulders and a small neck, he said. Sightings of Sasquatch crossing a road are the most common upstate and are usually reported in August and September, according to Bartholomew. “Whether it’s a migration I’m not sure. But there’s a real consistency with the reports. People will be driving at night — and they describe seeing the same thing,” he said. “A forest road is the most likely a place for a person to have the opportunity to see the creature.”He looked underneath the car to see nothing there. He then realized that the face he had seen wasnt that of a regular human, he just thought it must have been human because what else would be looking in the car? I asked 'So was it an alien that teleported away?' He replied 'I dont know what it was, I just know that no person could have gotten out of sight that quickly'

2018-10-21 Pastor John Finochio preaches a message titled 'Someone is Waiting For You'.
EveningI'm sitting in A&E at University College Hospital. I was knocked down by a taxi while crossing Gray's Inn Road. I was sober as a judge, I'd just like to point out, although I was in a bit of state, distracted, panicky almost. I'm having an inch-long cut above my right eye stitched up by an extremely handsome junior doctor who is disappointingly brusque and businesslike. When he's finished stitching, ho notices the bump on my head.'It's not new,' I tell him.'It looks like pretty new,' he says.'Well, not new today'.'Been in the wars, have we?''I bumped it, getting into a car.'He examines my head for a good few seconds and then says, 'Is that so?' He stands back and looks me in the eye. 'It doesn't look like it. It looks more like someone's hit you with something,' he says, and I go cold. I have a memory of ducking down to avoid a blow, raising me hands. Is that a real memory? The doctor approaches again and peers more closely at the wound. 'Something sharp, serrated maybe...''No', I say. ' It was a car. I bumped it getting into a car.' I'm trying to convince myself as much as him.'OK'. He smiles at me then and steps back again, crouching down a little so that our eyes are level. ' are u all right...' he consults his notes, 'Rachel?''Yes'.He looks at me for a long time; he doesn't believe me. He's concerned. Perhaps he thinks I'm a battered wife. 'Right. I'm going to clean this up for you, because it looks a bit nasty. Is there someone I can call for you? Your husband?''I'm divorced,' I tell him.'Someone else then?' He doesn't care I'm divorced.'My friend, please, she'll be worried about me'. I give him Cathy's name and number.

Facebook has been analyzing the emotions of teenagers and acknowledges it passed along the information to an advertiser in violation of its policies, according to published reports. The Australian news website said it has seen internal research documents that show how people's posts on Facebook classify them as feeling "stressed," "anxious," "nervous" or other negative emotions. The report says that advertisers could use this information to target teens "when they are potentially more vulnerable," something that Facebook denies. The report claims the leaked information shows how Facebook "has been honing the covert tools it uses to gain useful psychological insights on young Australian and New Zealanders in high school and tertiary education." Kirsty Young's castaway is the writer Colm Toibin. Best-known for his novels "Brooklyn" - now made into a film - "Nora Webster" and "The Master," he has been nominated for the Booker Prize three times. Born in 1955 in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, the second youngest of five children, Colm's life changed suddenly when his father died after a long illness when he was twelve. He says he has been dealing with the trauma which resulted in his writing ever since. After attending St Peter's College in Wexford and University College Dublin, he spent three years in Barcelona teaching English before returning to Ireland. He worked as a journalist until his books began to get published. He once told a class he was teaching that "you have to be a terrible monster to write. I said, 'Someone might have told you something they shouldn't have told you, and you have to be prepared to use it because it will make a great story. You have to use it even though the person is identifiable. If you can't do it then writing isn't for you. You've no right to be here. If there is any way I can help you get into law school then I will. Your morality will be more useful in a courtroom.'" Producer: Christine Pawlowsky.

Do you find waiting frustrating at times? I do, especially when I'm waiting for someone else to complete their work, so that a project can be finished. Waiting for emails, paperwork, for someone to make his or her(1) mind up, or waiting for a telephone call, can all be exasperating(2). When I think about it, I realize that I always have a project going on. It's either one thing or another. I love projects; I love having an idea, doing some work, and seeing that idea become a reality. In my garden, it's simple. It's all up to me. I get the idea, I plan, I work, and I finish. However, when other people are involved, it's not that simple. Immigration papers are a perfect example. When I was trying to get my mother's immigration papers for the U.S approved, it was as painful as pulling teeth out. We had to wait. We had to make phone calls. We had to fill out more papers. And we had to wait again, for months and months. I can't complain, because, in the end she got her green card. The project was worth the wait(3). Well, I've just been informed of another project that was worth the wait: my Android app is finally ready. I have been emailing my host company, asking for the release date. They have been patient with me, but it has been really hard to wait, especially considering that many of my listeners have Android devices. Well, it's out; it's here, and I'm relieved. There's no more waiting; just click and enjoy. 1. 'Someone ...his or her'. The objects that follow 'someone' can vary in English. Even though 'someone' is like saying 'a person' and is therefore singular, we do cheat and sometimes use the possessive object 'their' afterwards, especially in speech. In the second sentence of the podcast I say: '...especially when I'm waiting for someone to complete their work..' Later I say, 'waiting for someone to make up his or her mind' which shows the word 'someone' as singular. Of course, the second example is the correct one, but using 'their' after someone is very common and accepted. a. Someone needs to move their car; it's blocking the exit. b. Someone left their muddy shoes on the carpet! 2. 'Exasperating' is one of my favorite words. It means that something is annoying, frustrating, and exhausting. It even sounds like its meaning. a. Waiting in line in Disney Land in the middle of summer can be exasperating. b. The argument that I had with my neighbor was exasperating; we didn't agree at all, and she didn't make any sense. 3. 'Worth the wait' is the same as saying 'worth waiting for'. a. The app for Android was worth the wait. b. My mother's cooking is great, even if it takes a long time for a meal to be ready; it's worth the wait. Click the link for the Android app Click the link for the Apple app // // // //
