Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall.*Inniu an chéad lá de mhí Lúnasa. Is mise Gwyneth Nic Aidicín Ní Loingsigh.Tar éis seachtó cúig bliain briseadh an mhallacht a bhí ar fhoireann peile Chontae Mhaigh Eo. Tá ceiliúradh fós ar siúl ar fud an chontae beagnach seachtain ón mbua mothúchánach i gCluiche Ceannais Peile na hÉireann Dé Domhnaigh seo caite. D'imir an fhoireann in aghaidh na gcuradh, Ciarraí, a bhí ag tnúth leis an gcorn a bhuachaint don daicheadú huair.. Ag tús an chluiche bhí cuma láidir ar Chiarraí ach tháinig Maigh Eo ar ais ag troid agus lean cluiche sceitimíneach, lán le teannas. Ar deireadh bhuaigh Maigh Eo le cúl amháin agus fiche cúilín in aghaidh cúl amháin agus seacht gcúilín déag ag Ciarraí. Ag imirt ar an lá bhí roinnt imreoirí óga a raibh aird mór orthu, go háirithe Kobe McDonald, mac le Ciarán McDonald a d'imir i gceithre chluiche ceannais gan an bua a fháil i rith a ghairme féin, trí cheann díobh i gcoinne Chiarrai. Lá speisialta a bhí ann don iar-imreoir Andy Moran a thóg Corn Mhig Uidhir abhaile ina chéad bhliain mar bhainisteoir. Beidh deis eile ag Ciarraí an bua a bhaint amach i gCluiche Ceannais Peile na mBan, a bheidh á imirt i bPáirc an Chrócaigh amárach, an dara lá de mí Lúnasa, idir Ciarraí agu Gaillimh.Tá ómós á thabhairt ó gach cearn den domhan tar éis bhás tragóideach an cheoltóra Glen Hansard maidin Dé Céadaoin ag aois 56. Basaíodh é i dtimpiste gluaisrothair agus é ag taisteal abhaile ó theach tábhairne darb ainm The Wren's Nest sna Ceapóga Sú Talún, áit a raibh sé ag seinnt níos luaithe san oíche. Tá cáil ar Hansard as a mbanna ceoil The Frames, a bhunaigh sé in 1990, as a chuid saothar mar cheoltóir aonair agus as rólanna sna scannáin The Commitments agus Once. Bhuaigh sé Oscar le Markéta Irglová don amhrán nuachumtha is fearr dá amhrán “Falling Slowly” ar fhuaimrian Once. Bhí clú air freisin as a chuid gníomhaíochais agus daonchairdis. Tháinig na mílte daoine le chéile i mBaile Átha Cliath sna laethanta tar éis a bháis ag buscáil ina onóir. Beidh tórramh poiblí dó i mBaile Átha Cliath Dé Luain agus sochraid phríobháideach Dé Máirt. Beidh sé i gcuimhne go háirithe ag a bhean chéíle Maire Saaritsa agus a mhac óg.Tá brú mór ar Uachtarán FIFA Gianna Infantino tar éis dó plean a fhógairt chun chuid de chomhlacht Chorn an Domhain a dhíol le hinfheisteoirí príobháideacha. Dhiúltaigh roinnt cumann an plean, lena n-áirítear cumainn ón Eoraip, ón Áis, ó Mheiriceá Thuaidh agus Láir, agus ó réigiún Mhuir Chairib. Dúirt UEFA nach n-imreoidh aon fhoireann Eorpach i gcluichí FIFA go dtí go bhfuil stop iomplán curtha leis an bplean. D'éirigh comhairleoir Infantino Carlos Cordeiro as a ról mar agóid freisin. Seans mór go gcaillfidh Infantino a phost mar Uachtarán FIFA mar thoradh air seo, agus stair chonspóideach aige cheana sa ról. Beidh foireann na mban na hEireann ag tnúth le réiteach go háirithe, agus deis acu cáiliú do Chorn an Domhain ag teacht go luath.mallacht - cursebua mothúchánach - emotional victoryna Ceapóga Sú Talún - Strawberry Beds infheisteoirí - investors

Everybody wants to know how Mayo did it, but when something like this happens what is more important is why Mayo did it.Why did these players play without fear? Why did the world weep along with Mayo people on Sunday when they won the All Ireland? On Free State today we look at why Mayo were able to do what they did against Kerry. In a county that has been waiting for so long, Joe and Dion look at how Andy Moran didn't run from the emotion but instead made it an ally and created an adrenaline loop for his side.Joe reflects on his comments about Mayo earlier in the year - and earlier in the decade and earlier in the century - and talks about what it was like to watch it unfold on Sunday. Mayo are off to Omagh on Sunday to face Tyrone in Round 2A of the All-Ireland football championship. With both Tyrone and Mayo having recovered from provincial disappointment to record Round 1 wins over Roscommon and Monaghan respectively, the significant prize now on offer for the victors at Healy Park this weekend is a place in the All-Ireland quarter-finals, while the losers will be left with one last chance to progress via a Round 3 knockout tie the following weekend. In this podcast show we kickstart the countdown to what will be the eighth ever championship meeting between Mayo and Tyrone. Rob and John discuss the challenge and the opportunity facing Andy Moran's team this weekend and they run the rule over a Red Hand side made up of a mix of veterans from the All-Ireland winning team of 2021 augmented by a number of newer faces who have tasted All-Ireland success at underage level with the county in recent years. Rob also chats with podcast regular Nigel Reape, who points to the pluses and minuses from Mayo's win over Monaghan and argues why a more coherent defensive structure will need to be in place if the visitors hope to emulate the county's achievement of twelve months ago by coming away from Healy Park with a win.
