Let's talk money... A subject that can cause real stress, keep you awake at night and set anyone's nerves on edge. While it can be easier to push it to the back of your mind, deal with it another day and just hope for the best the thing that can take the sting out of its tail is tackling it head on. Yes, that means taking a good, hard look at your cashflow. This episode isn't about getting rich quick or magicking money out of thin air, this is just about taking the stress out of your finances.Links from the show:The Mint App.Quickbooks.Xero.An Edited Life by Anna Newton. To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Email me thebeautypodcast@gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We have a lot of arguments in the Traveler office about packing: roll vs. fold, carry-on vs. checked, hard shell vs. soft... The list goes on. This week—to add more fuel to the fire—we brought in two expert travelers on opposite ends of the spectrum to talk about their packing tips. Shiona Turini is a self-proclaimed maximalist. Her job as a stylist and costume designer working on set with the likes of Issa Rae and Lena Waithe informs her own packing style. Anna Newton, of The Anna Edit, is a complete 180 from Shiona, and is a capsule wardrobe fanatic who's made a name for herself with clothing edits that prioritize mixing and matching a limited number of basics. Her go-to packing trick? Packing just 10 items, including shoes, that can be mixed and matched into 10 outfits on vacation. My guest today is the brilliant Anna Newton (aka @TheAnnaEdit) who is an award-winning online content creator and author. Her first book, the life organisation manual ‘An Edited Life’, was published in January 2019. She is the Millennial Marie Kondo in my eyes. She resides by the sea in Brighton, and this episode was recorded at the Komedia as part of Brighton's First Podcast Festival. It was really fun to record with a live audience with a local Brighton resident! She has fronted her blog and YouTube channel ‘The Anna Edit’ since 2010. Her blog is ranked as the 5th biggest in the world in the lifestyle category and she’s been featured in Grazia, Stylist, YOU, Metro and The Guardian. She co-hosts the chart-topping podcast, At Home With… , alongside fellow blogger Lily Pebbles and has collaborated with brands such as Space NK, Estée Lauder and Selfridges. We chatted about how to streamline your life online and offline; why it pays off to have less stuff; how to say no more and how to make day-to-day life that little bit more manageable. To mark our milestone 50th episode(!), we are taking an in-depth look at the future of blogging. With 21 years of blogging experience between us, we have seen the industry’s landscape change dramatically. Many times over! The blogging world, as it now stands, is SO different to when we first started. As social media platforms, like Instagram, become increasingly more prominent, we’re exploring blogging's relevance in 2019, and what the future of the industry holds. We also share advice for newbie bloggers, and bloggers looking to go full-time with their platforms. We dip into the relationship between our egos and our analytics, and how we try to keep comparison at bay. And finally we round things off by sharing our long-term blogging plans, how we feel about blogs and social media playing a part in our lives, and some of our all-time favourite blogs. This is VERY in-depth conversation about the blogging industry, and we hope that you’ll love diving into it with us! So many of you are already fans of British blogger and YouTuber Anna Newton of The Anna Edit, and now that we’ve met her, we totally know why. Anna is like your best friend who gives you great style advice and adulting tips – but isn’t at all intimidating. She also hosts a podcast called At Home With, along with co-host Lily Pebbles. Anna has got her shit so together, she’s just released a freakin’ book on the matter! An Edited Life is all about “simple steps to streamlining your life, work and home”, so naturally we chatted about how to minimize a cluttered top shelf. We also found out which beauty products Anna will never ever edit out of her own routine, and got her to spill her Loewe handbag to see what’s inside! Anna also recalls how she made it, mastering the art of being a low key content creator in a sea of thirsties. We’ve also got breaking beauty buzz! Jill and Carlene are headed to SXSW! Hosted by Real Self, your humble co-hosts will be at the House of Modern Beauty on Saturday, March 9th to discuss the rise of beauty podcasts, along with Fat Mascara and The Glossy Beauty Podcast, hosted by inimitable beauty columnist Jane Larkworthy. That being said, if you notice any difference in volume levels between the two of us, we apologise and hope it doesn't detract from your listening experience. As best friends in real life, and now partners in work too, we often get asked about our dynamic. What’s it like working with a friend? Is it a good idea? How has it affected our friendship? I know I have a LOT of fangirl moments you guys, but this is a big one. Because I had a chit-chat with one of the first bloggers I ever followed: Anna Newton of The Anna Edit. I've been following Anna since way back when she was blogging and vlogging under her old name Vivianna Does Makeup. She's a YouTuber, podcaster, blogger and an all-around awesome human. We chatted about how she managed her side-hustle with a full-time job when she knew it was the right time to quit and why she's taking things back to basics with her vlog. If you want a giant boost of inspiration, this is the episode for you. In May, Jo Elin joined Lily Pebbles and Anna Gardner on their At Home With... podcast, now they're back for a return match (and a bit of a GLAMOUR love-in). And how things have changed! For one, Anna is now Anna Newton, having got married just two weeks before joining us in the cupboard. And for another, they're now fully paid-up members of the GLAMOUR features meeting academy. So hey, is it OK... to not enjoy being engaged? To constantly think "what's next" rather than living in the here and now, and is it OK to never answer your phone? ****Hey, It's OK... will be at the London Podcast Festival! Come and see Jo, James and a celebrity guest in London for a live episode on Saturday 16 September – buy tickets now at kingsplace.co.uk**** Episode edited by Kat Brown with music by Martin Austwick.
