Host: Candy O'Donnell Guest: Ray Loewe Description: In this podcast, Ray Loewe describes the Conference Event that he is planning for June 12th, 2025, at the Willow Valley Conference Center. The purpose of this conference, The Magic Continues, is to learn about tools and techniques to live life to the fullest. This conference, similar to Mr. Loewe's Conference Event held last year in 2024, is part of a series of conferences started 30 years ago by Mr. Loewe. This year, the Conference will have two speakers, followed by lunch at the Willow Valley Conference Center Ballroom. The first speaker, Tracey Gates, who wrote a book entitled “ The Power of a Few Kind Words,” will describe her project of writing one letter of gratitude a day for a year, and what she gained from this. The second speaker, Deborah Brandt, the Producer of Fig Magazine Lancaster, explores what we can do and who we can meet in Lancaster to help us live life to the fullest. Afterwards, there will be a lunch, which will allow people to network, to meet speakers, and to bounce ideas off others at the conference. Ray's Goal is to continue this conference event a few times a year, to be held at Willow Valley.
The Little Prince has been enchanting readers of all ages since 1943, when French aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry first introduced the boy from a distant planet. Inspired by his own life and a desert crash landing, this poetic tale has become one of the most translated and best-selling books in the world. In this episode, we begin a two-part look at The Little Prince on stage and screen—both versions produced by Joseph Tandet. There's the ambitious 1982 Broadway-bound musical starring Michael York and a young Anthony Rapp, which never made it past previews. And before that, the 1974 movie musical directed by Stanley Donen and featuring Lerner and Loewe's final collaboration—complete with Bob Fosse, Gene Wilder, and a surprisingly rocky production history. Theme Music created by Blake Stadnik. Click here for a transcript and list of all resources used. Produced by Patrick Oliver Jones and WINMI Media with Dan Delgado as co-producer. Meet Amaan, the 21 year old visionary behind the disruptive jewellery brand Basliq. He recently launched an official collection at Bloomingdale's for Wicked The Movie—a collaboration that stemmed from a chance encounter with Cynthia Erivo (the actress who plays Elphaba in the film) at the Loewe store on Bond Street, leading to an unexpected friendship. Amaan shares with us how he's built his brand through raw authenticity, being in the right place at the right time and maintaining genuine relationships, with icons like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Beyoncé, Maya Jama, and Doja Cat championing his designs, as well as being one of the first South Asian designers and the youngest designer in history to style for the Met Gala. We also dive into his mixed Pakistani-Indian heritage, growing up in Manchester and now calling Dubai his home. How many comments have you seen on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube over the last few years that read: “Give the marketing team a raise!” It's easy to boil everything a brand does down to simple marketing tactics, but how does one formulate a cohesive strategy — with a mix of product, content, social media, events, PR, collaborations, and more — and create a cultural hit? This week, Alyssa is joined by Ana Andjelic, a global brand executive, founder of The Sociology of Business newsletter on Substack, and author of Hitmakers: How Brands Influence Culture, to dive deep into the world of brand marketing and understanding how to tap into a cultural moment. Tune in to hear Ana's insights about mass culture versus niche culture and how they move at different speeds; whether it's possible to build a brand in 2025 without a fandom or community behind it; what happens when you use “authenticity” as a shortcut to culture; why brands must avoid being prisoners of the past and living in the archive; how to diversify the ways you're present in culture; the dangers of trying to grow too fast; whether product plus PR can equal a brand; why there are so many marketing content creators on TikTok, Substack, and YouTube now; unpacking ‘brat' as a marketing case study; why sometimes it just comes down to throwing a really good party/showing people a good time; and a discussion about the marketing highs and lows from today's most buzzed-about brands, including Telfar, Vans, Skims, Rhode, Prada, Miu Miu, Erewhon, and Loewe. This episode was recorded in the podcast studio at The SQ @ 205 Hudson. Dr. Andreas Löwe, Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne, talks about the emotional and difficult debate surrounding January 26 and the role of his church in this context. Loewe explains how his church is trying to contribute to reconciliation by integrating indigenous concepts such as “country” and storytelling into its religious services and showing parallels between indigenous and Christian traditions. The theologian pleads for a reorganization of the national holiday that takes into account both grief over historical injustices and gratitude for the country's cultural diversity.

Nathan Burke played 323 games with St Kilda across three decades, and took the field with some of the best of the modern era - Lockett, Frawley, Harvey, Winmar, Loewe. He captained the club and played in a heartbreaking Grand Final loss in 1997 but was in teams that finished in the bottom four as much as they spent in contention. And when his playing career was over, it was a seat on the Saints board that brought him back to Moorabbin, and a front row seat to the turmoil that was the end of Ross Lyon's first tenure as Saints coach.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Producing theater is often difficult and never a guarantee. In fact, anything produced for the stage can be hit or miss. Just a few hours before I sat down to record this intro, a concert of Lerner & Loewe music that I was producing had to be canceled. Artists were dropping out and audiences weren't buying tickets. It was tough to let it go, but there came a point where the venue had to cut its losses. This was just a concert at a cabaret venue, so imagine the greater disappointment and loss when a Broadway show doesn't open. In the previous episode with Chad Beguelin, he shared how one of his musicals was headed to Broadway, until it wasn't. He turned that heartbreak into his debut novel Showmance that was released earlier this month. Well, he's back to talk about what has kept him going and what making it really means to him as he answers the final five questions here on this bonus episode of Why I'll Never Make It. --- To listen to bonus content like Auditions Stories and get early access to these full conversations ad-free, become a subscriber today. After two very targeted episodes, this week was much more of a grab bag — Daniel Craig's fit for the Loewe show, bag and shoe charms, GQ trying to cancel Gorpcore, Sydney Sweeney's abomination of an ad deal, kitchen upgrades and aesthetic appliances, Sally Rooney's "Intermezzo" as a status symbol, Divorced Wife-core, Nike news, and some footy collabs.
