Join Emily as she explores the art of curation and its impact on our lives. From ancient collections to modern self-expression, discover how curating isn't just about surrounding ourselves with beauty—it's about intentional living, mindfulness, and embracing who we are. Tune in to learn how the power of curation can transform your world, one carefully chosen element at a time.
To curate is to bring together something unique - sometimes, something that has never been brought together before or has been apart for a long, long time. It may have all originated from the same source, from the same Creator, but it has been a long time in coming back around to one specific place. And sometimes that place is you. Today's appetizer episode explores the curiosity, wonder, and surprise of being invited by our Creator to chase Him into the art of curation. Like stepping into a sidewalk chalk masterpiece and rekindling your inner 3-year-old self. Like following bread crumbs sown by the Bread of Life. As someone who is passionate about the field of Life Design, I am over the moon about this week’s episode. This week, we’re speaking with Dr. Gail Golden, author of the book “Curating Your Life: Ending the Struggle for Work-Life Balance.” This book is all about carefully selecting the activities, responsibilities, and commitments we say ‘yes’ to in our lives, based on what is meaningful to us. Gail goes deep into topics like finding out what’s important to you. Saying ‘no’ to the things that aren’t...even when it’s hard. Embracing mediocrity in some things so that you can live your greatness in others. In short, this episode is a masterclass in Life Design, and you won’t want to miss it. How often do you hear this exchange? "How are you?" "Oh, I'm so BUSY." It seems like we're so busy that we don't have time to do the things that are truly meaningful to us.

Today I sit down with my co-host Jerusalem to talk about FOMO, Benedictine Monastic traditions, learning to love the life you have, and husband who are weary of our BIG ideas. She just released her second book, “At Home in this Life: Finding Peace at the Crossroads of Unraveled Dreams and Beautiful Surprises” and it’s amazing. Take a listen and come on over to the Shalom Sista Facebook page to tell us which of the three Benedictine Vows resonate most with you as you seek shalom in your home! “At Home in this Life is the story of how everything I thought would make me happy came undone, and how I then found a way to make myself at home in this beautiful, messy, amazingly tender, completely unbalanced life, by imperfectly practicing one spiritual discipline at a time—smack in the middle of raising kids, mending the sweaters and burning the bread. It’s the story of how I finally realized that the “problem” with my life was not my house, my job, or my marriage, my problem was me. Only a Conversion of life - a Transformation of spirit and heart - would help. So I jumped, with both feet, into an experiment where I tried to follow God’s leading instead of my plan, an experiment that resulted in a lot of fits and false starts, gut-level honesty and true change. Beautiful, messy, chaotic, daily… this is the story of how I learned to make myself at home in my life.” Shalom Steps: 1: Choose a Benedictine Vow To Work On 2: Create Spaces to Listen 3: Curate Your Life Check out: The At Home in this Life Curated Collection - Handmade Items from Peacemaking Women Inspired by At Home in this Life by Jerusalem Jackson Greer Watering the Ground Beneath Our Feet,

So, you've taken the time to define what your personal values are. Amazing! Knowing your personal values is an important step in helping you align your life and your decision-making in the direction that is right for you. But, let me ask you this: when you look at your actual behavior, the decisions you're making, the way you're spending your time, does it reflect those values? Are your values important to you in CONCEPT or in ACTION?Today, we're talking about the topic of personal values from a different lens. From the lens of ACTION. It's one thing to say a value is important to you in a conceptual way. However, if your behavior, actions, and decision-making don't follow, you'll still experience the same level of cognitive dissonance and incongruence. In today's episode, I urge you to take action on your values. To define what they truly mean to you and to begin setting boundaries, making decisions, and saying no when things don't align. To behave in congruence. It's hard, but it's so worth it!Additional Resources:Episode 182: "Resentment Grows Where a Boundary Needs to be Planted"Episode 242: "Curate Your Life and Manage Your Energy"Episode 314: "The Secret to Effective Prioritization"Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
