A new episode is out and this time Aaron (Autto421) joins Jordan and me on the podcast. We quickly recap the gritty 3-2 victory NYCFC had against Inter Miami but then the conversation switches to the rumors that Alexandru Mitrita will be loaned, with an option to be bought, to Al Ahli FC. This news couldn't have come at a worse time after Mitrita playing his best two matches of the year and that Maxi Moralez is still injured. Aaron breaks down his thoughts of NYC's season and it's head coach Ronny Deila performance. Then we finish up previewing the match against DC United which is being played for the first time in eight months at Yankee Stadium. Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer New York City FC continued their strong run of form, twice seeing off Inter Miami comebacks to win 3-2 at Inter Miami CF Stadium on Saturday courtesy of two goals from Alexandru Mitrita. All five goals came in a rollercoaster of a first half when momentum swung rapidly between the two teams. Mitrita got the scoring going early, running in behind the Miami defense and providing a neat one-time finish to an Alex Ring ball over the top. We had to wait a while for the game's second goal, Lewis Morgan applying an emphatic right-footed finish to a stylish team move involving Blaise Matuidi and Victor Ulloa in the 27th minute. But the goals then came thick and fast. Eight minutes later, Anton Tinnerholm drove forward and cut inside from the right before beating Luis Robles with a low left-footed shot from 20 yards, Miami again pulled level in the 38th minute. Morgan grabbed his second of the night, this one even more spectacular than his first as he struck an unstoppable right-footed shot after a layoff from Gonzalo Higuain. But the parity lasted just five minutes. Mitrita matched Morgan with his second goal, running from deep inside his own half and into the Miami area before getting the benefit of a deflection off Ben Sweat to find the net. That proved to be the end of the scoring, though Miami were celebrating a late equalizer from Julian Carranza only to have it called back for offside following a video review. An excellent episode here as Will Forbes (@TransfersMLS) joins Jordan and me on the podcast. Will breaks down his thoughts on where, why, and how New York City FC and CFG are doing in the league, both this year and overall. From players to coaches to stadium issues, where does Will see NYCFC in terms of ambition in the league? So much to unpack here, so tune in! Before all this, Jordan and I break down the win 4-0 win NYCFC had against FC Cincinnati. Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer Alexandru Mitrita scored twice in the first half, including a goal just 30 seconds into the match, as New York City FC cruised to a 4-0 win over FC Cincinnati at Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening. NYCFC came out firing from the get-go as Mitrita opened the scoring at the 30-second mark — the fastest goal scored in club history — to give the Cityzens the early 1-0 lead. Despite the visitors being heavily dominated in possession, Frankie Amaya nearly leveled things for Cincinnati in the 23rd as his chance just missed the frame. Anton Tinnerholm, though, converted from an acute angle off a nice pass from Ismael Tajouri-Shradi to double the home side's lead in the 25th, and Mitrita made it a brace in the 43rd as the rout was on. Jesus Medina wrapped up the scoring in the 88th as his free kick deflected off a FC Cincy defender and past Spencer Richey. Cincinnati played this one without Nick Hagglund, who revealed earlier in the afternoon that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer: Maxi Moralez returned from injury as a halftime substitute to help spark New York City FC to a 3-1 win over Chicago Fire FC Saturday at Red Bull Arena. Moralez’s impact was felt almost immediately, serving up the assist on Anton Tinnerholm’s eventual game-winning goal in the 53rd minute. It was the seventh assist in as many all-time appearances against the Fire for Moralez, who has been sidelined by a nagging calf injury suffered at the MLS is Back Tournament last month. Tinnerholm took a settling first touch and finished clinically inside the far post to break the stalemate in the 53rd minute. Keaton Parks opened the scoring in the 16th minute, equalling his goal total from a year ago. The midfielder received the ball in the box from an Alexandru Mitrita service and guided his low shot inside the far post. Parks paid tribute to “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman, who died Friday, with a “Wakanda Forever” celebration. Four minutes later, Maxime Chanot headed off the post after latching onto Jesus Medina’s corner kick. Mauricio Pineda leveled in first-half stoppage time with the unmarked rookie tapping past Sean Johnson after Francisco Calvo flicked on Alvaro Medran’s corner kick. The Fire nearly equalized a second time in the 74th minute, but Alex Callens cleared Elliot Collier’s attempt off the line after Johnson initially misplayed. A minute later, Alex Ring scored for a second consecutive game off an assist from Tinnerholm to put the game away. Columbus had a first-half goal by Gyasi Zardes called off when Derrick Etienne was offside on the service. Pedro Santos came close to the equalizer in the 82nd minute, but Sean Johnson dived to parry it out for a corner kick. Fanendo Adi appeared to score the tying goal in stoppage time, but it was the second goal waved off for offside. QUOTES NYCFC Head Coach Ronny Deila: On bringing Maxi on at the half instead of later... "Maybe we wanted to wait a bit, but I think we needed to make some changes in the second half to get three points. Today is the first time that I have seen Maxi so fresh. You can see that he has no pain, and you can also see how good he is and how vital he is for the team. We created a lot of chances and played a really good second half. I am eager to see the future but just want to play games now." NYCFC Defender Anton Tinnerholm: On just wanting to keep moving after difficult results this season... "We had a rough start, there’s no doubt about it. We had a lot of meetings and things got better. But in the end we have to show it on the pitch. It is easy to talk but harder to perform out there. We showed it today and we showed it against Columbus that we can do it. I think the second half we were dominating the game; the Chicago players were so exhausted in the final 15 minutes that they can’t even press us. It reminds me of some games from last season, so we have to keep on doing what we did in the second half here. Now we have some confidence, you can see it in the guys. It’s fun to come in a play some games again, now we have to keep on the momentum that we have started." NYCFC Midfielder Maxi Moralez: On getting back on the field after injury... "At the beginning in Orlando I felt really good, but then I got the injury and wasn't able to recover until today. I'm really happy with everyone that helped me recover. Today I played well. Together we played well. My leg is a lot better and I recovered quicker than I hoped and now I'm 100 percent and ready for Wednesday's game [against New England]." New England Revolution 0, New York City FC 2 | 2020 MLS Match Recap New York City FC earned their second-ever win at Gillette Stadium — snapping New England Revolution's seven-game unbeaten streak in the process — with a 2-0 victory. New York City FC dominated the first half and had several opportunities with dangerous set pieces, but weren't able to find the back of the net. New England goalkeeper Matt Turner had a fantastic reaction save in the 14th minute off one of NYCFC's corners to keep the clean sheet for his side going into halftime. Bruce Arena made two substitutions, giving the Revs a little more life coming into the second 45 minutes, but NYCFC got on the board first in the 60th minute. Anton Tinnerholm crossed a pass into the box to Heber and Michael Mancienne slid to defend the pass but ended up putting it in the back of the net for an own goal. A little more than 10 minutes later, Heber gets his first goal of the season off a NYCFC corner kick from Ronald Matarrita. At the final whistle, NYCFC took all three points in Foxborough. The boys review Decision Day and what it meant for New York City FC. While City welcomed James Sands and Anton Tinnerholm back to the lineup, both Heber and Ismael Tabour-Shradi sustained injuries that leaves a question about their availability for the Eastern Conference semifinal. We also take a close look at the opening round games in the Eastern Conference, especially Toronto FC - D.C. United. The winner of that match takes on NYCFC on October 23rd at either Yankee Stadium or Citi Field.
New York City FC is one point away from clinching the Eastern Conference Championship after thrashing Atlanta United, 4-1 on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium - the final home game of the regular season. The boys talk about the performance of Alexandru Mitrita who scored a first half hat-trick and Sebastian Ibeagha, who filled in for the injured Anton Tinnerholm. City has two road matches left starting with New England on Sunday. The Revolution need three points to clinch a playoff spot, and NYCFC will be without the services of Alex Ring and Taty Castellanos who are suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Will NYCFC be able to clinch on that day or will they have to wait till Decision Day on October 6 at the Philadelphia Union who rallied from a 1-0 deficit in San Jose on Wednesday night to win 2-1 and stay alive for the top spot in the east? Also, a look around the league as three more teams clinched playoff births.

The most important result in Dome Torrent’s brief tenure as head coach of the New York City Football Club came on April 24 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. It was week eight of Major League Soccer and the boys in blue had yet to record a victory and Torrent’s job security was in question. City won that match in convincing style, 2-0 – part of what is currently an 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions. Audi Field will be the venue for New York City’s Round of 16 match in the 106-year old U.S. Open Cup – the Pigeons recording their first win in the competition last week against North Carolina FC. Because of injuries and international call-ups, Anton Tinnerholm, normally an outside back, played at center back for the first time since he was 15 years old in that match. Torrent and Tinnerholm spoke to Pro Soccer USA’s Glenn Crooks about the run in the U.S. Open Cup and the earlier success against D.C. United. “There were a couple of times he (center back Sebastian Ibeagha) had to scream at me – I really wanted to go forward. That was the biggest challenge for me.” – Anton Tinnerholm on his adjustment from wing back to center back. “When I want to change the system or move some players, normally I will speak to the players when I have any doubt. I respect their opinion.” – Dome Torrent on the necessity of change in the midst of injuries and international call-ups.
The LA Galaxy will host New York City FC on Saturday and LA Times beat writer Kevin Baxter will join Pro Soccer USA's Glenn Crooks to preview the match. City head coach Dome Torrent and right back Anton Tinnerholm both praise of Zlatan Ibrahimovic while Torrent shares his joy after his former club, Manchester City, moved a step closer to the EPL Championship.
Pro Soccer USA's Glenn Crooks interviews New York City FC fullback Anton Tinnerholm ahead of their regular season opener at Orlando City. Pro Soccer USA colleague Dylan Butler joins in to help preview Orlando City - NYCFC and notes the expectations this season for the New York Red Bulls.

I avsnitt 37 av podcasten FD 60 Minuter möter Mårthen Bergman allsvenskans bästa back 2017 - Anton Tinnerholm.
Podden ställer bland annat följande frågor: Visst måste man rotera – men måste Markus Rosenberg och Anders Christiansen vila i samma match?
