It's approaching the time we get excited about college basketball. We're looking ahead to the Mariners and it's not the players or managers that are the issue - it's the owners. Today is a somber day with some significant losses in the sports world. Stewart Mandel, The Athletic says the 12-team CFB Playoff achieved its goals of keeping more fans engaged throughout the post-season. Will we continue to see the SEC out of the title game? Desperation drives NIL and NIL drives everything now. Stewart remarks the parity that NIL has brought to college football - while deep pockets have the advantage, it is open to everyone. Plus, more players are staying in college longer because they'll make more money. Stewart takes us through the transfer portal moves around the country. The sports world is mourning some greats today in baseball's Bob Ueker and Sonics' Gus Williams. Ian pays tribute. Jordan Morris, Seattle Sounders tells Ian about his relationship with Paul Arriola, new addition to the team and what he and Jesus Ferreira bring to the pitch. He tells us what separates the Sounders from the rest of MLS and what makes playing here in Seattle special. He says the core group, getting hot at the right time and understanding what it takes to come through in big moments are all a recipe for success for the team. Corbin Smith, Seahawks Maven and Locked on Seahawks gives us more insight on the Seahawks search for an offensive coordinator. More names emerge and Corbin tells us who he thinks is the leader in the clubhouse, as well as why certain coaches fit here in Seattle. The Daily Power Play! Gary Parrish, CBS Sports provides a look at rebuilding the Pac-12 from a basketball perspective and who might be next to join. He also gives the latest on realignment woes and thinks that some of it might be undone in the future. Plus, the SEC is the strongest conference we've seen in the history of college basketball this year, as Gary predicts them with 12 tournament teams this year. Finally, how many existing legendary coaches will continue on in this new world, and for how long?

After a perplexing loss to Vancouver, this couldn't have been a better time to take on Dallas... right?Wrong. Despite missing Jesus Ferreira, Paul Arriola, Obrian, and others, Dallas took over the second half (after Chiellini and Tillman came off), kept LAFC at bay, and walked out of the sweltering humidity of Frisco with a 2-0 win. 7 losses in 10 matches is the prelude to Carson at the Rose Bowl. LAFC falls to second in the Western Conference as questions must get louder about a true 9. The transfer window looms, and we need bodies and rest. Also on this episode, it's Scarf who rants against the antiquated MLS as we get set to play 33 matches by July 15. Yes, that's a record by a WIDE margin. We also take time to remember Chris "Spanto" Printup, founder of Born x Raised and beloved Angelino. Rest well, Spanto.

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback entered the protocol Tuesday afternoon after consulting with the Rams’ medical staff, the team confirmed Wednesday. The Rams believe Stafford’s symptoms resulted from action in last Sunday’s 16-13 loss at Tampa Bay, but they haven’t identified a specific hit. McVay said the Rams haven’t determined whether Stafford can play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. John Wolford, a Rams backup since 2019, is likely to start if Stafford can’t go. Stafford has been one of the NFL’s most durable QB’s for the past 12 seasons. He spoke Wednesday afternoon, hours after Griner’s lawyers revealed that she had been sent to a penal colony to serve her sentence for drug possession. U.S. officials have for months tried to negotiate the release of Griner and another American jailed in Russia, Paul Whelan. But there have been no overt signs of progress. WNBA – WNBA to allow coaches challenge next season The WNBA will allow coaches to challenge one play a game next season, and the league is also heightening the penalty for transition take fouls, according to a person familiar with the decision. MLB – Orioles claim OF Daz Cameron off waivers from Tigers The Baltimore Orioles have claimed outfielder Daz Cameron off waivers from the Detroit Tigers. Cameron hit .219 with a homer and eight RBIs in 21 games with Detroit last season. He also appeared in 98 games with Triple-A Toledo, batting .240 with 10 homers and 50 RBIs. DeAndre Yedlin, a 29-year-old defender, is the only player left from the 2014 World Cup roster. The U.S. opens the World Cup against Wales on Nov. 21, then plays England and Iran. Golf – Tiger Woods to return at his tournament in the Bahamas Tiger Woods is returning to competition next month in the Bahamas. He announced his decision on Twitter and it was not a big surprise. Woods says other sponsor exemptions are going to Tommy Fleetwood and Kevin Kisner. Woods hasn’t played since missing the cut in the British Open at St. Andrews in July. He played only two other tournaments this year. Both were majors. He made the cut in the Masters and PGA Championship. Golf – Champions – Langer still going strong on PGA Tour Champions at 65 Bernhard Langer feels the reminders from 50 years of professional golf every day. Some days it could be a sore wrist. Others a twinge in the elbow or a shoulder ache. None of it has slowed him down. The 65-year-old arrives at Phoenix Country Club this weekend with a chance to tie Hale Irwin’s all-time PGA Tour Champions wins mark of 45. Langer won his 44th PGA Tour Champions event last week in Florida after beating his age by two shots in the second round. This week’s Charles Schwab Cup Championship will be the final event of the PGA Tour Champions season. Only Steven Alker and Padraig Harrington have a chance to win the season-long championship. LAFC heads to Texas for the final time in 2022, and all we can say here on Episode 215 is good riddance! Ryan Hollingshead sees red during the match while LAFC and their supporters are left seeing red after. LAFC loses a tough one the hard way, 2-1, behind a brace from Jesus Ferreira and an awful day for Jon Freemon. Just eight minutes in, LAFC would already be dealt a body blow, as Chiqui was shown a very questionable yellow, meaning he will miss our next match, a tilt in just three days against Minnesota. Compounding LAFC's issues, just 5 minutes later Ryan Hollingshead would be booked a straight red after VAR allowed Jon Freemon, head referee, to amend his previous bad call of a yellow to an even worse one. LAFC would play down a man for the remainder of the match. Right before the halftime whistle, Maxime Crepeau would make a Save of the Week candidate on Edwin Cerrillo, and just seconds before the whistle, Giorgio Chiellini would find Chicho over the top, and Arango chips the keeper to improbably put LAFC up 1-0 heading into the locker room. LAFC dodged a bullet early in the second half and looked to hold on, which they did for 77 full minutes. In the 78', after a lack of focus on a quick restart, Paul Arriola finds Jesus Ferreira to equalize. Just three minutes later, Ferreira would bury a free kick, and just like that, all of LAFC's incredible defensive efforts down a man went for naught. Ugh. Another frustrating LAFC loss, and this one may have topped them all. Also on this episode, we are just plain upset. Filly gets bleeped, Scarf gets a stadium PA job, and the boys chat about diapers, but not in a gross way. This one was a rough pill to swallow, but enjoy Episode 215.
