BONUS: Why the Spotify Model Didn't Work (Even at Spotify) Imagine a company that spends a year building an iPad app—and on launch day the product owner says: "Now it'll be interesting to see IF anyone uses it." In this episode, Marcus Hammarberg and Tore Fjaertoft share why organizations keep installing frameworks like software, why it still doesn't work, and what they've learned from places like Spotify about treating your way of working as a product in itself. When Copying Without Adopting Becomes the Norm "It becomes more about following whatever this framework tells you to do, rather than to understand what the problem you're trying to solve is all about."   Marcus and Tore met at a consultancy in Malmö and within 15 minutes realized they shared the same frustrations—despite coming from opposite directions. Marcus comes from the ground up as a software developer and coach, while Tore works top-down with leadership teams on product organization design. Both had worked at Spotify and both had seen organizations copy famous frameworks and models without adopting the underlying mindset. The telltale sign, as Tore describes it, is when people focus on compliance rather than being pragmatic—following the manual without questioning whether the way they're working is actually serving the organization. As Marcus frames it through Cynefin, product development lives in a domain where best practices don't even exist—only emergent practices that you discover by trying things out. Treat Your Process Like a Product "The easiest way for us to explain things has been: take the mindset you use for your product, and then use that same mindset when you're approaching how you set things up and how you work internally."   The core idea Marcus and Tore keep returning to is deceptively simple: see the way you operate as a product in and of itself. Just as a digital product is never finished—you ship it, observe how customers use it, and evolve accordingly—your operating model should follow the same cycle. Tore explains that the "customers" of your process are your employees: they need less friction, more empowerment, and the ability to spend more time on work that actually moves the needle for users. Marcus connects this to the lean concept of True North—a shared direction that everyone understands, so that every experiment and process change moves the organization closer to what matters. He contrasts this with the three Agile transformations he participated in that all had the same misguided tagline: "get more out of our development organization." As Marcus points out, even the AI DORA report shows developers feeling more productive individually—but is individual productivity really the goal? The Factory Floor Story: Empowerment Needs Alignment "Everyone down here knows that anything we do needs to be the best in the world, in every step."   Marcus shares a powerful story from a Swedish lorry factory where workers changed their workstation instructions several times a day—written on a whiteboard with a pen, not locked in a manual. When asked how they got everyone to engage in continuous improvement, the factory managers didn't understand the question. Every worker on the floor knew they were building the most expensive lorry in the world, and they wanted it to stay the best. That shared purpose drove improvement without mandates.  But Marcus is quick to add the counterbalance: empowerment without alignment leads to local optimization. The factory combined local metrics with overarching flow metrics, so everyone could see how their station fit into the whole chain. Marcus and Tore distill this into three interconnected principles: empowerment to enable people to change how they work, alignment to steer toward shared outcomes, and collaboration to prevent teams from optimizing in isolation. From Static Frameworks to Dynamic Ways of Working "We realized that Spotify didn't use the Spotify model. They moved on, because they see the way they work as a continuously evolving approach."   Tore reveals one of the most striking lessons from their Spotify experience: the company that accidentally created "the Spotify model" had already moved beyond it by the time the rest of the world started copying it. The reason? Spotify treated its way of working as something that continuously evolves—not a static blueprint to install and follow. Marcus adds a practical example from Spotify: on your first day, you got access to the company's key metrics. Everyone knew the True North—at the time, increasing monthly active users—and every process change, every experiment, every team decision was oriented toward that outcome. The contrast with organizations that "install" a framework and then wonder why it doesn't work couldn't be sharper. As Marcus puts it: "We tried process X, it didn't work. We tried process Y, the opposite, and that didn't work either. Why doesn't the process work?" The answer is that the "how" must emerge over time, guided by a clear "why." Always Know Why You're Doing What You're Doing "I don't want anyone to work on anything if you don't know why."   Tore shares a policy from a product management colleague at Spotify: every single day, everyone on his team should be able to articulate not just what they're working on, but why—and the "why" could not be "because person XYZ told me to." It had to connect to the company's purpose and users. Marcus takes this even further, recounting how he once stopped productivity at an entire company by telling developers: don't work on anything unless you know why. Nobody could continue. The uncomfortable silence that followed became a powerful catalyst for change. With an 80% failure rate for product experiments being the industry standard, packaging that risk into year-long projects is a recipe for the iPad app scenario they opened with. The alternative is to build the organizational muscle for rapid experimentation—cheap hypotheses, fast feedback, and the humility to let outcomes guide the way forward.   Self-reflection Question: When was the last time you asked your team—or yourself—"why are we doing this?" and got an answer that connected to a real business or user outcome rather than "because the framework says so"?   About Marcus Hammarberg and Tore Fjaertoft Marcus Hammarberg is a product and software coach and consultant who has seen product organizations from the inside and from the trenches. This show has been flagged as Clean by the host. We'll explain why we're doing it, what it is, and cover some useful tools along the way. I've been watching movies recommended to me by my colleagues. As I work for a global company, the recommendations are often “Foreign Language”, which by definition is every movie to someone. It's often difficult to read the subtitles, or they are distracting from the acting. So I thought of converting the subtitles to speech for inclusion as an audio track, to produce a Voice Over or Lectoring audio track. Lectoring aka Voice Over Translations First used is soviet countries to read the news and propaganda from a lectors - the first podcasts ? In Polish, lektor is also used to mean “off-screen reader” or “voice-over artist”. A lektor is a (usually male) reader who provides the Polish voice-over on foreign-language programmes and films where the voice-over translation technique is used. This is the standard localization technique on Polish television and (as an option) on many DVDs; full dubbing is generally reserved for children's material. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lector#Television Example: Night of the Living Dead To give you an idea of what this sounds like I'm going to play you an example of the out of copyright movie, Night of the Living Dead . In the United States, Night of the Living Dead was mistakenly released into the public domain because the original distributor failed to replace the copyright notice when changing the film's name Original First the original sound track, then the same clip with the voice over track. Voice Over Proof of Concept As a native English speaker I find it difficult to follow those Voice Over tracks as I am trying to focus on the underlying audio. In discussions with Polish friends, it seems that this is not a problem when Polish is your native language. To put that to the test I wanted to try it out on a movie to see if that were indeed the case. I asked on Mastodon for a non English movie that was Creative Commons but did have English Subtitles, and HPR host Windigo had the answer. 2009 Nasty Old People is a 2009 Swedish film directed by Hanna Sköld, Tangram Film. It premiered on 10 October 2009 at Kontrapunkt in Malmö, and on file sharing site The Pirate Bay. The film is available as an authorized and legal download under the Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-SA. So my idea was to take each bit of subtitle text, convert it to audio, then have the generated audio play at the same time the subtitle appears on the screen. We use piper to process shows here on HPR, and we also generate srt, or SubRip subtitle files for each show. SRT or SubRip files are the easiest subtitle file to work with. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubRip The SubRip file format is described on the Matroska multimedia container format website as “perhaps the most basic of all subtitle formats.” SubRip (SubRip Text) files are named with the extension .srt , and contain formatted lines of plain text in groups separated by a blank line. Subtitles are numbered sequentially, starting at 1. The timecode format used is hours:minutes:seconds,milliseconds with time units fixed to two zero-padded digits and fractions fixed to three zero-padded digits (00:00:00,000). The comma (,) is used for fractional separator . A numeric counter identifying each sequential subtitle The time that the subtitle should appear on the screen, followed by –> and the time it should disappear Subtitle text itself on one or more lines A blank line containing no text, indicating the end of this subtitle I downloaded the movie from the Internet Archive , and then used Piper voice to convert a minutes worth of subtitles. piper_voice: A fast and local neural text-to-speech engine that embeds espeak-ng for phonemization. GPL-3.0 license Once I had the audio prepared for a sample of the subtitles, it was over to audacity to create a new subtitle audio track. Audacity is the world's most popular audio editing and recording app GPL v2 or later, Timing the segments would be a problem, if it were not for the fact that Audacity supports srt files as Labels. File > Import > Lables. Then select the srt file The subtitle track with the text of the audio will be displayed. I could then Import each Audio segment and line them up with the subtitle track for to get the correct timing. Each subtitles segment created a new separate audio file which I then exported. I then used Kdenlive to open the video and import the audio and subtitle tracks. Kdenlive: is the acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on Linux, Windows, macOS, and BSD. GPL-3.0-or-later There is a good article on adding by Jean-Marc on How to Add Subtitles Easily in Kdenlive Project > Subtitles > Add Subtitle Track Select the Subtitle file Align the subtitle and audio track. After rendering the segment out I was satisfied that this was something worth doing. The script The script can be found on the episode page for this show on the HPR site, and I put it together as a proof of concept. It creates a new audio track for the subtitles, and merges this with the original sound track to create a new selectable sound track. It begins by creating a length of silent audio that is as long as up to the first subtitle time segment begin timestamp. The first subtitle segment is converted from text to speech using Piper voice That segment of audio is added to the initial silence track. We check the total length so far, and then see if there is supposed to be silence between the last and next subtitle segment begin timestamp. If there is, then a filler piece of silence is added until the next subtitle should appear. If not then the audio for both subtitles play immediately after one another. I was worried that the subtitle audio would then lag behind the on screen dialogue but it works surprisingly well. Even long series of dialogue sort themselves out after a bit. We do this over and over again for each subtitle, right up to the very end of the movie. This new subtitle to speech audio track is then merged back into the media file as a new audio track. 96 00:15:06,240 --> 00:15:10,640 It will be two years before it's this big 97 00:15:12,840 --> 00:15:17,840 But don't you bother. By then I'll be long gone 98 00:15:19,840 --> 00:15:22,400 It was just a question 99 00:15:22,880 --> 00:15:25,480 Porridge? Original First the original sound track, then the same clip with the voice over track. Voice Over Lessons learned Now that I have done this for a lot of movies, there a few tips for getting the best output. The creation of the audio track usually goes well, but you can run into issues with the merging of the new track back into the movie. Preparation The first thing you need is a subtitle file which will be the basis of the voice you will be listening to. It should be good quality so that it matches when the actors speak. It's important to clean up this before you use it, fixing spelling mistakes and removing html that will get rendered. Listening to three hours of “I L Zero ve y Zero u”, or “less than forward slash I, greater than”, or “L am from Lndia” can get a bit tedious. You should also try and get versions that translate the songs as well. Getting a SRT file from the media. As many Subtitles are taken from a DVDs they can often be poor Optical character recognition versions of the bitmap-based streams. So a picture of string “Hello World” rather than the letters. ffmpeg By far the easiest and best way to get the subtitles is to extract it from the movie itself, provided it's a separate track. ffmpeg is a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. LGPL-2.1-or-later, GPL-2.0-or-later https://ffmpeg.org/ ffmpeg -y -hide_banner -loglevel error -txt_format text -i "${this_movie_file}" "${this_srt_file}" Getting a SRT file from the web. If that fails you can try to get the subtitle files from the Internet. https://www.opensubtitles.org Select your language with the highest subtitle rating. You can check the media using the mpv media player. mpv is a media player based on MPlayer and mplayer2. It supports a wide variety of video file formats, audio and video codecs, and subtitle types. GPLv2+, parts under LGPLv2.1+, some optional parts under GPLv3 https://mpv.io/manual/master/ Name the srt file with the same prefix as the movie and mpv will play it. You can also use the --sub-files= option as well. mpv "${this_movie_file}" --sub-files="${this_srt_file}" Scrub through the file to see if the timing is correct. The subtitles can be toggled using the j key. Fixing Timing issues It's very important to get the subtitles to align, otherwise the voices will be out of sync. When the subtitles don't match up, it's usually that they need to have the start offset corrected. ffsubsync will automatically try and adjust the offset of the first subtitle to the first use of speech in a movie. ffsubsync: Language-agnostic automatic synchronization of subtitles with video, so that subtitles are aligned to the correct starting point within the video. MIT license https://github.com/smacke/ffsubsync pip install ffsubsync ffs video.mp4 -i unsynchronized.srt -o synchronized.srt LosslessCut will allow you to quickly remove additional trailers, or ads, at the beginning, so that ffsubsync will have a better chance of working if they are trimmed away. LosslessCut: aims to be the ultimate cross platform FFmpeg GUI for extremely fast and lossless operations on video, audio, subtitle and other related media files. GPL-2.0 license https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut If that fails to match up the subtitles, you can use mpv keyboard shortcuts , move to the first speech segment an then press the Ctrl+Shift+Left and Ctrl+Shift+Right to adjust subtitle delay so that the next or previous subtitle is displayed. It will also show a number giving the miliseconds the delay is, eg -148416 miliseconds or -148.416 seconds. You can use many tools to adjust the subtitles, and I tried out SRT Offset . srt-offset: A simple command-line tool to offset SRT subtitle files. This tool allows you to adjust the timing of subtitles in SRT files, which can be useful when subtitles are out of sync with the video. MIT license srt-offset -i input.srt -offset -148.416 -o output.srt Manually adding the new subtitle to speech audio track If that presents an issue then you can use avidemux to just add the new audio track. Avidemux: is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. GPL V2 Open Avidemux, and select “File > Open”, to select the movie. Then go to “Audio > Select Track” Select the next unselected track and tick “Enabled”, “Add Audio Track” Then pick the new mixed track, in this example .~NastyOldPeople_mixed.mp3 Conclusion I now find it much easier to watch a movie with the voice over track. It gets to a point where I don't even notice it is there and just hear the actors speak in their own language, and I just know what they are saying. Där fick jag hjälpa till att ta hand om alla djur. Det fanns kor, grisar, får och höns, hundar och katter. Det var så fint att få leva i denna samklang. Även om det också var tufft för mig att som ett litet barn få upptäcka livets realiteter, hur tillvaron ibland är hård och grym och hur naturens lagar kan kännas så orättvisa. Djur blev sjuka och dog. Frågan väcktes när nya djur kom till, om jag överhuvudtaget skulle våga fästa mig? Men kärleken som fanns i omsorgen om det levande blev starkare. Samhörighet och gåvor till livet födde en respekt och ödmjukhet. Det var en gåva som jag är så tacksam för att jag fick uppleva. Omvårdanden om djuren var så djupt meningsfullt – och det gav värme och tröst.Guds skapelse är en gåva, fylld av liv och av mångfald. We finally made it to one of Malmö's oldest drinking establisments. Bullen was founded in 1897 and has continued to sling beer and simple dishes. Over the years it's evolved into a Malmö mainstay. We've been going for years. It never fails to provide a good time. They specialize in importing beers from Czech Monastery Zeliv. Based on their website, they are the only bar in the world where you can get these beers on tap. We start out with Poutovy Special Jirikovo Videni a 5% ABV Polish grodziskie. Sweef säljer soffor och bäddsoffor med ambitionen att erbjuda Sveriges skönaste soffhäng, och som samtidigt har byggt upp en tydlig modell för internationell expansion. Sedan juni 2025 leder han Sweef, ett bolag som passerat 300 miljoner i omsättning och som nu nosade på cirka 360 miljoner när de stängde 2025, med god lönsamhet. Värdet ligger 35 enheter högre än under förindustriell tid, då halten beräknats ligga runt 280. Kurvan stiger svagt under hela 1800-talet, men efter andra världskriget går lutningen skarpt uppåt.Några månader efter Keelings första mätning – i mitten av juli 1958 – lämnar en liten cell bland miljontals andra explosivt min pappas kropp för att målmedvetet leta sig fram till den väntande värmen i min mammas mage. Det är en het sommar. Kanske var det en tidig, lite sval morgon i vindsrummet på Brunnsgatan i Nyköping precis innan pappa skulle ta bussen till flygflottiljen där han just blivit stamanställd. Mamma skulle kanske strax därefter promenera till dispensären på lasarettet där hon arbetade. Eller så var det semester och de var på besök ute hos det som skulle bli min farmor och farfar i torpet och sov över i utdragssoffan av trä under älgbonaden och oljetrycken med skyddsänglar.Torsdagen den 16 april 1959 föds jag på barnbördshuset på Nyköpings lasarett. Mamma har haft havandeskapsförgiftning – stor, svullen – med en vikt lika hög som tungviktaren Ingemar Johansson. Några månader senare skulle han gå sin berömda match mot Floyd Patterson.Maj 1959, Mauna Loa, koldioxidhalten har stigit till 316 ppm under mammas graviditet.Nu börjar mitt liv på den allt brantare Keelingkurvan. Vi flyttar. Först från rummet med kokplatta, till enrummaren med sovalkov. Sen till tvårummaren med balkong i tvåvåningshuset från 1940-talet. Min bror anländer. Mamma tar oss varje förmiddag till det nyöppnade snabbköpet. En tetrapack med mjölk, havregryn, lite blandfärs, några morötter. Allt får plats i nätkassen. Plastkassar tillhandahålls inte i butikerna förrän i mitten av 1960-talet.1963. Pappa köper familjens första bil, en Vauxhall Victor. Röd och vit. Begagnad såklart, mer räcker inte pengarna till.Pappa gör som alla andra. Bilköp ligger i tiden. Under 1950-talet ökade antalet bilar i Sverige från 250 000 till en miljon. Tio år senare har antalet fördubblats. Och pappa har bytt till en Ford Zephyr. I de sörmländska skogarna ligger de uttjänta bilarna redan tätt.April 1965, Mauna Loa, 320 ppm.Vi flyttar igen. Nybyggt miljonprogram. Fjärde våningen i ett höghus i utkanten av stan. Nu tre rum. Pappa har just sålt insatslägenheten. Det kändes alldeles för osäkert. Tänk om man inte får sina pengar tillbaka? Under höststormen natten den 17 oktober 1967 ligger vi alla i pappas och mammas säng och tittar ut mot himlen. Strömmen har gått, vi har ett värmeljus i fönstret. Dagen efter ligger höghusens takplåtar på marken.På somrarna åker vi och badar i Stavsjön, spelar dart och plockar blåbär. Eller så fiskar vi i Brobyån. Vi har sommarhus nu, hyr en gammal uttjänt statarlänga. Sommarstugeägandet ökar. Ödetorpen är många där ute på landsbygden. Allt fler har ju flyttat till stan.Sjuttiotalet. Mamma läser Tyst vår av Rachel Carson, röstar på Fälldin och talar om 'glada grisar'. Men pappa skakar på huvudet och skrattar när mamma inte vill dricka vattnet i sommarhuset. Pumpen står mitt ute på åkern och godsägaren har just låtit flygbespruta fältet med bekämpningsmedel.Nu bor vi i en fyrarummare, ovanpå ett konditori där man köper lördagsgodis genom att peka genom glasdisken. En sån. Och en sån.1975. 331 ppm. Jag gör min första flygresa. Åker till Lindau am Bodensee med ett gäng svenska ungdomar. Det kallas språkresa och alla vill göra det. ”Det är så bra för språkutvecklingen”, säger Ingegerds mamma. Min mamma nickar instämmande. Det är klart flickan ska få en god utbildning. I den tyska småstadens gränder lär jag mig nattetid en hel del tyska, men också att dricka Jägermeister och dansa bump. I hemstaden öppnar Hennes & Mauritz butik. De expanderar nationellt efter börsintroduktionen 1974. Jag köper en beige täckjacka. Alla andra har likadana.Åttiotalet. Det är nu det händer. Jag har flyttat hemifrån. Min konsumtion ökar drastiskt: resor till London och Italien, linneklänningar och Allessobryggare. Yuppivännerna omkring mig börja inreda sina hem medvetet och metodiskt. Jag hänger inte riktigt med, fattar inte att vi gått in i en samhällelig situation, som släppt pengarna loss. Jag missbedömer allt och tror att det handlar om en individuell utvecklingsfas. Fast jobb, bostadsrätt. Bäbis på väg.Men alla gör likadant. 1987. Nu går det fort. 350 ppm.Det blir äldre villa utanför Malmö, två barn, flytt, tre barn, flytt. Bil, ny större bil, ny bil igen. Nittiotalet och millenieskiftet rusar förbi. Resor till Medelhavet, New York, San Fransisco. Familjen studsar med flyg mellan Paris och Malmö, maken flygpendlar till Stockholm ett par gånger i veckan.Jag planerar mina pensionsfonder. Alla andra gör ju det. Rysslandsfonderna rusar, jag hänger på. Naivt, omedvetet. Stöder Gazprom med mina placeringar, men besinnar mig så småningom, och känner en lättnad när det sent omsider visar sig att värdet är noll och fonderna kraschat.2013: koldioxidhalten passerar 400 ppm. 2016: 403 ppm.Jag står bland uttjänta möbler och flyttkartonger och sorterar efter 23 år i samma lägenhet ett avvecklat familjeliv. Barnen har flyttat. Ett helt liv ska sorteras, säljas, skänkas bort, slängas. En lägenhet, ett vindsförråd, tre källarförråd. När auktionsfirmorna och secondhandorganisationerna fått sitt kommer ett företag som specialiserat sig på att forsla bort det ingen vill ha. 1,1 ton går till tippen. En och en halv lastbil.Jag rannsakar mig själv. Biktar mig. Gråter en del. Räkningen på de 1,1 tonnen är 10 000 kronor. Jag ser det som en rättmätig skuldsedel.Är jag skyldig?Självklart är jag skyldig.Jag tillhör den del av jordens befolkning som levt hela sina liv i en ständigt accelererande välståndsökning som passerat rimlighetens gräns och landat i en förgörande överkonsumtion. Min skuld kan jag inte skaka av mig. Skuld handlar om verifierbara fakta. Har jag medverkat till de stigande utsläppen av växthusgaser – eller har jag inte medverkat till dom?Men skammen då? Ska jag skämmas nu när eftertankens kranka blekhet inträtt.Nej, jag kan inte skämmas över det jag gjort. Jag visste inte bättre. Jag var en kugge i ett samhällsmaskineri. Jag kan givetvis skämmas över min aningslöshet. Jag borde nog vetat bättre.Men jag gjorde som alla andra. Så jag blir villkorligt frigiven.Villkoret, då? Jag måste skämmas för det jag gör idag. Jag kan inte med rent samvete låtsas som att jag inte är med om att bära skulden. Jag kan inte med rent samvete fortsätta som att ingenting har hänt, eller som att ingenting kommer att hända. Jag har en individuell skyldighet – som en liten del av mänskligheten – att ta mitt ansvar. Allt annat är bortförklaringar.Våren 2025, då jag fyllde 66 år, passerade koldioxidhalten i atmosfären för första gången 430 ppm. Smash Into Pieces were the first winning act being announced after the first voting round. They will be competing in the Grand Final with the song "Hallow". Cimberly and her song "Eternity" won the second round of voting and also has won and secured herself a place in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 20026 in the Strawberry Arena of Stockholm, Solna. The favourite to also win the Heat was Meira Omar with the song "Dooset Daram" came third and is with that in the Final Kval round of the competition and has a chance to advance into the Grand Final after Heat 5. Eurovision Host 2025 Hazel Brugger and Germany's regular National Final Host Barbara Schoeneberger will be presenting the acts from a studio in Berlin with a live audience. We're going a little more local this episode with a couple of Swedish breweries you might not have heard of before. Shapes and Objects is from Karlstad. They've been around for a couple of years and are just getting started. Sun Trip DDH Hazy IPA is a collab with Spanish brewers Malandar. Coming in at 6.2%, this IPA is filled with citra, mosiac, nelson sauvin and manalita hops. Malmö based Perfectly Squared has been expanding across the city more and more. Strawblime is a collab with Bottenvikens from Luleå in far North Sweden. This is a 4.5% ABV sour beer that's going for a strawberry daquiri experience. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #sour #ipa

Vi ringer upp viltekolog Camilla Wikenros vid Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.För några veckor sen såg Britta Lagergård flera sälkutar på öarna i Björköfjorden utanför Göteborg. Anna Roos, biolog på Naturhistoriska riksmuseet i Stockholm, reder ut det här med hur och när de olika sälarterna får ungar.När minnet och språket bleknar finns ändå längtan ut i naturen kvar. Kelsey chats with Michelle (@jetsetwithjohnsons on Instagram), a mom of two from Michigan (9 year old daughter and 7 year old son), about their family of four's spring trip to Denmark in April/May 2025.They kick things off with a two day stopover in Amsterdam (stroopwafels!), then head to Billund, Denmark, the home of LEGO, where LEGO House completely blew them away. From there, it's on to Copenhagen for classic Danish charm and a visit to Tivoli Gardens, the magical amusement park that famously inspired Walt Disney when he created Disneyland. They also take a day trip to Roskilde for the Viking Ship Museum.For their final four nights, they stayed in a Kindred home exchange in Malmö, Sweden and commuted into Copenhagen each day by train.
