On today's episode we are coming to you LIVE from Long Beach Comic Con! Austin Grant and I took a short drive down from Los Angeles to check out the 10th Annual Long Beach Comic Con. While we love the big conventions like SDCC and NYCC, smaller conventions like Long Beach offer us far more opportunies to meet and see so many great artists and comic book vendors. On the episode we talk about all of the great cosplay that we've seen, some of our favorite artists at LBCC, Austin forgetting to register his badge, foggy Long Beach mornings, and so much more. Thank you to Long Beach Comic Con for allowing us to come and be a part of your 10 year anniversary show! We had such a great time and look forward to coming back next year. Thank you for having us. Enjoy the episode!
We are back from our August hiatus! On today's episode Austin Grant and I catch up and talk about everything we've been doing throughout the last month. We usually take the month of August off to work on projects we put on hold to prep for San Diego Comic-Con. We talked about Austin's art store and upcoming events that he will be selling art at, acting and clown classes, our new sketch comedy channel, upcoming conventions, and so much more! Don't miss us this weekend at Long Beach Comic Con. We are excited to check out this convention and we will be recording an episode while we're down there as well. Enjoy the episode! See you next week!
Today's episode is LIVE from 2018 San Diego Comic-Con! Austin Grant and I took the show back to San Diego for our 4th year with our first panel exclusive! We always love doing this show at SDCC, even though the auditorium doesn't draw the biggest crowds. We talked about our SDCC experience so far, spending the morning in Mexico, hating the bird scooters, discovering new shows and comics, our missing guest this year, and more! Thank you to San Diego Comic-Con for having us back this year. We look forward to returning next year for our 5th year! Thank you to those who come out to support us. Give us a follow on the social media links on the website www.onthemicpodcast.com Enjoy the episdoe!
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I catch up on the last week and discuss the week ahead. The 4th of July is just two days away and Austin and I talk about our plans for the 4th. Austin is currently driving back from Salt Lake City (again) helping his girlfriend move to Los Angeles. We also talked about sexual assault & harassment and how it's affected our significant others, how Austin and Ashley met, some of their plans, and making the move, and so much more. We recorded this episode at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. As we mentioned in the last episode, we are recording some episodes at certain Los Angeles landmarks that we love or haven't been to yet. Austin hadn't been to Hollywood Forever yet, so I gave him a quick tour of the place before we recorded. Hollywood Forever is a gorgeous cemetery that I would highly suggest everybody pays a visit too. They also do movie screenings here that are incredible. Check out the link on www.onthemicpodcast.com for tickets We hope you have a safe 4th and make sure to take care of your pets as they get scared during fireworks. Make sure they're safe and comfortable. Enjoy the episode!
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sit down and recap our time at the AT&T Shape event at Warner Brothers. Austin was only able to attend part of the first day as he had to head back to Salt Lake City to star in a movie. We talked about what we were able to do at the event while Austin was there, as well as the parts Austin missed out on. We had great panels with some of the filmmakers behind Ready Player One, panels with Issa Rae & P. Diddy, and incredible tech displays highlighting new science and technology in film. This episode also started a new podcasting experience for us. Since Meltdown closed at the end of March, we've been without regular spot to record the podcast. We bounce back and forth between my place and Austin's, but we thought it would be fun to record at interesting spots around Los Angeles. After hearing about the Los Feliz Murder House on an episode of My Favorite Murder, we decided to check it out since it was right up the street from my place. After checking out the creepy house, we decided to record the episode there. We have a few other locations in mind that we will be recording at, but if you have a spot you want us to check out on a future episode, let us know! Thanks for having us AT&T and Warner Brothers! Enjoy the episode!
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sit down to recap the CBS Emmy FYC Event. Austin and I went to the CBS Redford Lot in Studio City for Emmy presentations from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane The Virgin, Star Trek: Discovery, The Amazing Race, and American Vandal. There were a few of these shows that neither of us have had a chance to watch, but after seeing their Emmy presentation, we are definitely compelled to dive into these shows right away. Listen to our recap and everything we learned from these shows while we were at CBS. Thanks for having us, CBS. Enjoy the episode!
On today's episode, I talked with comedian Jonathan Giles! Jonathan and I first met doing an open mic at the Nerdist Showroom only to find out that we were actually working together there as well. Austin Grant joined us on this episode as we got to know more about Jonathan and his career. We talked with Jonathan about how he started comedy in Chicago, moving to Los Angeles, being a part of NBC's Late Night Writers Program, reminiscing over some of our favorite NerdMelt memories, a lot of riffs, and so much more. A huge thanks to Jonathan for taking the time to join us on the show. It was great to learn more about Jonathan and his career in comedy. Make sure to follow Jonathan on all of the links on www.onthemicpodcast.com and make sure to go see him perform! Thanks, Jonathan! Enjoy the episode.
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sat down to catch up on what we've been up to the last few weeks. On this episode, Austin and I talk about his new art endeavors, attending the World Premier of Solo: A Star Wars Story, blood covering Hollywood Blvd, food addictions, Austin's weird audition, San Diego Comic-Con planning, and more. We have a lot of things coming up, including the launch of our new sketch channel with recently debuted the first sketch, Avengers: Xfinity War. Stay tuned for our SDCC announcements, as well as new merchandise and projects we're involved with. Thank you for your support! Enjoy the episode. This is our Trek: The Movie episode, where we feature interviews with Alan Peterson the Director and Producer of this upcoming movie being released by Deseret Book and Excel Entertainment. We also have an interview with David Howard the screen writer and Austin Grant, the lead actor and Stefania Barr lead actress from the film. This is a great family film that is the latest from the constantly growing genre of mormon cinema. Some of you might ask, “What does Trek: The Movie have to do with missionary work?" Watch the movie and listen to the podcast and you will see. We have some great mission stories and we hope to show you how film projects like this have be a platform for re-activiation efforts, or to help minister to the youth—our future missionaries. Music for this episode comes from the soundtrack of Trek The Movie and our special guest Stefania Barr's band, Shrink the Giant. The whole soundtrack features local bands from Utah which is a really cool addition to this independent film. I was at the premier last night and had a great time watching the movie, meeting the cast and crew, as well as the people from Deseret Book and Excel Entertainment who are producing this film and sound track. Nick Galieti interviews Alan Peterson, the director and producer of the film. Following that interview, Kelsey Edwards interviews David Howard the screen writer and co-director of the film along with and Austin Grant, and Stefania Barr. The stars of Trek: The Movie. Please, please, please, take a moment to let us know how we are doing by going to our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages. Ww need your reviews on iTunes, google play and on Stitcher. On today's episode, I have actor Tom Everett Scott and Director John Hyams! Tom and John joined myself and Austin Grant to take about their new film "All Square", which will be premiering at SXSW on March 10th. We had such a great time talking to Tom and John about the process of making "All Square", learning about the screenwriter of the film, working together on Z Nation, a little chat about "That Thing You Do", and so much more. A huge thanks to Tom and John for taking the time to join us on this episode. Make sure to go see "All Square" at SXSW. Austin and I absolutely loved this film and you will not want to miss it. Click on the links at www.onthemicpodcast.com to follow Tom and John on social media and to pick up your tickets for "All Square". Thanks, Tom and John! Enjoy the episode
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sat down to catch up about what we've been up to for the last few weeks. Since we last recorded, we have been incredibly busy writing sketches for our upcoming sketch show, submitting auditions, filming roles, and networking like crazy. Over the last few years of the podcast, we've never really talked about the day jobs & part time jobs we've maintained to build a career in entertainment. We decided talk about our day jobs and how we've become the ultimate cliche as we've moved to Los Angeles. It's incredibly cliche to be an Uber/Lyft driver, waiter, or bartender while pursuing a career in entertainment, but we knew this was a good opportunity for us to be able to take our career to the next step. We talk about the work life balance to make sure we're moving forward, and how we planned for success in Los Angeles. We have a lot of hilarious stories for our first few months living in Los Angeles and finding our bearings, as well as some great opportunities that have presented themselves. We find ourselves spending plenty of time at a Starbucks or at UCB, sitting and writing, being the ultimate Los Angeles cliche. We decided to own the fact that our life really is a cliche right now, but make it so that everybody that listens to the show can follow our path and see where this insane industry takes us. Hopefully we don't come across preachy in the episode since we are still two guys trying to figure out what in the hell we're doing. We hope that you enjoy learning more about our career and journey in this episode. Thanks for all of your support! Enjoy the episode.
On today's episode of the podcast, we are coming to you LIVE from Pasadena Comic Con! Austin Grant and I went to the Pasadena Convention Center to check out this one day convention and we had such a great time! On this episode we also had a chance to talk with Jim Hillin about his new comic book, "Zombie Bunnies", as well as Margaret Kerry who was the original model/actress for Tinkerbell. Both Jim and Margaret had great stories to tell, and incredible back grounds as well! Aside from Tinkerbell, Margaret was in over 100 of the 3 Stooges episodes, as well as episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. We later found out Jim has worked on films such as Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, I Am Legend, Suicide Squad, and the upcoming Mary Poppins film, just to name a few. After leaving to convention, Austin and I took a short walk through Pasadena to check out Pasadena City Hall, which was used as Pawnee City Hall in Parks and Rec. We also stopped at a small antiques mall where we found Party Deer and had a dainty tea party. A huge Thanks to Pasadena Comic Con for allowing us to come to the convention. We had such a great time and look forward to coming back next year. Also a big thank you Jim Hillin and Margaret Kerry for talking with us on this episode. They were so kind and so fascinating to talk to. Enjoy the episode. VISIT www.onthemicpodcast.com for more, including links to Zombie Bonnies and Margarter Kerry's book, "Tinker Bell Talks".
On today's episode, Austin Grant and I take some time to catch up since he's finally joined me here in Los Angeles! Austin and I talked about the new cleanse that he's started, the upcoming Oscar's, exploring Los Angeles, coffee, hiking, and so much more. We also announced the new sketch show that we will be putting on March 1st at the Nerdist Showroom! Details still to come on that, but mark your calendars now. Austin will also be more of a regular on the podcast now that he is living here and we both have a little more free time as we're building our careers in LA. We have a lot of great guests coming up, but if we don't have a guest on for the week, you can expect an episode of Austin and I talking about our week and what events we have coming up. Enjoy the episode!
Merry Christmas, everybody! Today is our annual Christmas episode of the podcast with Austin Grant, Christopher James, and Jesse Knight! This episode was a little bit different from past years Christmas episodes since only half of us are here in LA. That didn't stop me from having Christopher and Jesse on the show though. Both of them phoned into the podcast for their segments of the show. As always, Christopher gave us his terrible, horror themed Christmas movie. This year his selection was the film "Elves". This was so terrible I'm going to have to watch it to see how it comes out. You can watch the trailer for this monstrosity below. The last few years we have also featured a Christmas song on the episode, and this year's choice was "Christmas in LA" from The Killers feat. Dawes. While we're having a great time with Christmas in LA, the song is a little bit sad as it's kind of about the lonely of Christmas in LA, but either way, I like the song and it felt appropriate for our first Christmas in LA. Thank you to everybody for all of your support throughout 2017. We have a lot of incredible things in store for 2018, including a new studio space that we will be recording in! I hope everybody has an amazing Christmas and stays safe with your family and friends. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Enjoy the episode

On today's episode we are celebrating our 100th episode with special guest, Lady to Lady Podcast! Brandie Posey, Barbara Gray, and Tess Barker from Lady to Lady joined us in the green room at the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown to record this milestone episode. Barbara and Brandie have both been on the podcast before in individual episodes, but this was our first chance to get all the three of them on the show. One of these days we will have Tess on the show for her own episode as well. As we kicked off the episode, I talked with Austin Grant, Jesse Knight, and Christopher James about some of their favorite memories as we reached 100 episode, and Christopher finally tells the infamous yogurt story! Once Lady to Lady joined us, we talked with them about their upcoming projects, filming videos for Comedy Central's Snapchat, McDonald's cocaine spoons, mouth yogurt, raising money for charity, stand up, failed sketches, and so much more! A huge Thank You to Barbara, Brandie, & Tess for taking the time to join us on this episode. If you have not listened to Lady to Lady, you must make their podcast part of your podcast playlist! On today's episode, I have writer, comedian, and program director of the Nerdist Showroom, Caitlin Durante! I first met Caitlin a little over a year ago at the Nerdist Showroom after recording an episode of the podcast with Kyle Clark. Kyle told me that Caitlin would be a great guest on the podcast and for the last year I've wanted to have Caitlin on the show. While we were down in Los Angeles last month recording shows, I knew this would be the perfect time to have Caitlin on the show. Austin Grant, Jesse Knight, Christopher James and I sat down with Caitlin in the green room at the Nerdist Showroom to record this episode. On the episode we talked with Caitlin about making the move to Los Angeles, getting involved with Nerdist, working odd jobs, writing screenplays, her monthly stand up show "Luck of the Draw", her podcast "The Bechdel Cast", which focuses on how women are represented in film, great women comics, and so much more. A huge Thank You to Caitlin Durante for taking the time to join us on this episode of the podcast. It was great to get to know Caitlin better and learn more about her career as a writer and comedian. Make sure to follow Caitlin on the links below, and if you're in Los Angeles, stop by the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown and catch Caitlin performing! Thanks, Caitlin! Enjoy the episode! On today's episode, I have actress, writer, and comedian, Brooke Trantor! I first connected with Brooke through Twitter about a year ago when we crossed paths through Second City connections. While we were in Los Angeles recording some shows I wanted to make sure that we had the chance to sit down with Brooke for an episode to learn more about her career. Austin Grant and Christopher James also join us on this episode of the podcast! We talked with Brooke about growing up in Illinois, making the move to Los Angles, studying Shakespeare in London, starting with Second City, Undateable, The Last Word, and so much more! A huge Thank You to Brooke for taking the time to join us on this episode. She was so great to talk with and incredible understanding and flexible when we kept getting bumped from each space we had to record the episode. Luckily for us, Brooke stepped in and save the day! Make sure to follow her on all of the social media links on our website! Thanks, Brooke! Enjoy the episode. On today's episode, I have actor Landon Henneman! Landon and I have always crossed paths over the years at various local award shows, but this was the first time we really had a chance to sit down and talk. We met up with Landon while we were in Los Angeles, as he recently made the move to LA to further his acting career. Jesse Knight, Austin Grant, and Christopher James also joined me for this episode. On the episode, we talked with Landon about what inspired him to start acting, some of his influences, making the move to LA, his two current films 'Love Everlasting' & 'The Last Descent', and so much more. Austin and Landon actually share a lot of scenes in 'Love Everlasting', so it was great to hear some of their experiences working together on the film. A huge Thank You to Landon for taking the time and braving the Oscar weekend traffic to come and join us for this episode. It was great to finally get a chance to learn more about him and his career. Make sure to follow him on all of the links on the website www.onthemicpodcast.com and check out 'Love Everlasting' and 'The Last Descent'. Thanks, Landon! Enjoy the episode. Merry Christmas, Everybody! On today's episode I sat down with Austin Grant, Jesse Knight, & Christopher James for our 2nd Annual On the Mic Christmas Episode! We've been looking forward to recording this episode for the last several months. As always, Austin makes his special Christmas drink, Christopher shares a terrible holiday movie with us, and complete mayhem breaks out. As always, this year's episode title comes from one of the ridiculous things that Christopher said on the episode. Last year we talked about favorite Christmas movies, but this year we turned our attention to Christmas music. I'm not a fan of traditional Christmas music, but I do love the punk renditions of Christmas songs. On the episode we opened presents, talked about our favorite Rock/Punk Christmas songs, our favorite childhood memories, Christmas Traditions, family time, our Christmas plans this year and so much more. We had such a great time recording this episode and I'm glad our schedules allowed the four of us to record this episode again this year. Thanks to Austin, Jesse and Christopher for making the time available to make the episode happen. We hope you have a Merry Christmas! Enjoy the episode! On today's episode, Austin Grant and I sat down and recaped our time at this year's San Diego Comic-Con! We arrived in San Diego on Wednesday, July, 20th just in time for preview night. The San Diego Airport was again decked out in Conan, in anticipation for the week's most in-demand shows! As you may have heard on Episode 72, our matter of SDCC business was talking with writer/director Teddy Cecil. Following our interview with Teddy, we hit the convention floor! Austin and I recapped our time during preview night, our hotel debacle, the insane heat in San Diego, dealing with crowds, meeting some of our heroes, attending Conan, going to the Meltdown Show, going to panels, Nerdist & Geek & Sundry's Camp Conival, shopping the convention floor and more. We can't thank San Diego Comic-Con enough for allowing us to come and do a live show and be able to have these incredible experiences in San Diego. Everybody at SDCC treats us incredibly well and really makes us feel like family. I'm glad that Austin and I were able to sit down and get this recap recorded before our schedules go crazy for the next few months. Enjoy some of the pictures from our time at SDCC on the website, onthemicpodcast.com We have even more available on our Twitter and Instagram accounts, so make sure you're following us!
