Send us a textThis week's enterprise software news highlights a widening gap between glossy innovation narratives and the hard operational and governance realities shaping buyer risk. On the innovation side, BlackLine's launch of Verity for the Office of the CFO, Tray.ai's Agent Hub, Genstore's $10M seed round, and Blue Yonder's new TMS features underscore the accelerating push toward AI-enabled automation and orchestration layers across finance, integration, and supply chain. Versori's partnership with Fluent Commerce and Acumatica's 2025 R2 update further signal growing emphasis on ecosystem connectivity and incremental platform modernization. At the same time, the darker counterpoint is impossible to ignore: Zimmer Biomet's $172M ERP lawsuit against Deloitte, a major European city council's continued delays in fixing a failed Oracle system, and the EU Commission's investigation into SAP's practices reinforce how execution risk, vendor governance, and regulatory scrutiny are now front-and-center issues for enterprise buyers. Taken together, these developments reflect a market bifurcating between rapid AI-driven experimentation and escalating consequences for large-scale ERP missteps—raising the strategic stakes for both technology selection and transformation leadership. In today's episode, we invited a panel of industry analysts for a live discussion on LinkedIn to analyze current enterprise software stories. We covered many grounds including the direction and roadmaps of each enterprise software vendors. Finally, we analyzed future trends and how they might shape the enterprise software industry.Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tFlYu6W_iwQuestions for Panelists?

Billie Asmus was tired of plastic paint liners, half-used trays drying out overnight, and trying to save paint with foil and plastic bags, so she started messing around in her basement to see if she could make something better. That curiosity turned into a reusable paint tray, a lot of Google searches, a year of prototyping and manufacturing, and eventually a moment standing in the Shark Tank longer than expected, fighting for the right partners. In this conversation, Billie walks through what it actually looked like to build the RePaint Tray from scratch, what surprised her most about running a product-based business, and how listening to everyday painters shaped both the product and the community that grew around it.Billie Asmus is the founder of RePaint Studios and the creator of the RePaint Tray, a reusable paint tray designed to make painting less wasteful and easier to pick back up. Why are so many companies spending billions on AI, only to see their most ambitious projects stall out before they ever impact the customer experience? Agility requires more than just a fast-moving marketing team. It requires the foundational ability to connect disparate systems and data sources, allowing new technologies like AI to be implemented and scaled, not just piloted.Today, we're going to talk about the single biggest, and often overlooked, blocker to enterprise AI adoption: the integration layer. While everyone is focused on the models and the applications, the legacy infrastructure underneath is preventing companies from moving beyond small-scale experiments. We'll explore why a modern, integration-first approach is no longer a 'nice-to-have' for IT, but a strategic imperative for any brand that wants to turn AI hype into a real competitive advantage. SYRACUSE ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION CONTEST Upcoming Hollywood Awards Event HOLLYWOOD, CA - Syracuse, Utah artist Tray Streeter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his illustration will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42. Tray Streeter grew up in Syracuse, Utah. Like many children, he spent much of his childhood drawing, though he was especially interested in still lifes. That fascination with technique deepened in his teenage years after he received a set of oil paints for Christmas, leading him to study the works of John Singer Sargent and Caravaggio. Portraiture became his passion, one that continues to influence his work today. It was not until adulthood, when he began working digitally, that he turned his attention to sci-fi and fantasy art. The genre offered him the freedom to create artworks that exist beyond reality. Influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta and Alex Ross, he aims to combine both the drama and technique of classical painting with the sleek, contemporary possibilities of digital art. Currently, Tray is attending Weber State University, pursuing a BFA in Art with a 2D emphasis. After graduation, he hopes to continue his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ultimately, he aspires to illustrate for Dungeons & Dragons, work on cover illustration for comics, and develop his own original concepts. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 42 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. The past winners of the Writing Contest have published 2,000 novels and nearly 6,300 short stories. They have produced 36 New York Times bestsellers, and their works have sold over 60 million copies. In the 37 years of the Illustrators of the Future Contest, there have been 418 winners. The past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 6,800 illustrations, 390 comic books, graced 700 books and albums with their art, and visually contributed to 68 television shows and 40 major movies. The Writers of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful, and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of speculative fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 41 anthology volumes

Happy Halloween week! We're getting into the spooky spirit with some wild trick-or-treating facts, a recap of Erin's trunk-or-treat experience, and a trip to a nature-themed Halloween event at Hawk Mountain. We also trade stories about our very different childhood trick-or-treating memories. Then, Erin shares what it was like cheering at the Bethlehem Running Festival, where some runners were offered beer and Fireball mid-race. After a quick rant from Mike about why tea should be cheaper than coffee at restaurants, we give you the latest updates on the sports world. We discuss the emergency funding that finally allowed Grand Slam Track to pay its athletes (at least partially) and Fred Kerley's decision to join the Enhanced Games for a big payday and equity in the company.Things get weird as we discover a new, high-anxiety sport for butlers called "Tray Defense" and unpack the lawsuit claiming Arby's doesn't exactly have "the meats" it shows in its ads. We then take a horrifying journey back in time to explore the bizarre, savory gelatin "salads" of the 1950s—yes, we're talking tuna and olives in Jell-O. We also debate a new discovery of dinosaur footprints, a strange new world record for fist bumps, and share a collection of hilarious stories about parents who are hilariously bad with technology. Of course, it wouldn't be an episode without a Dan update, covering everything from his unconventional marathon training to his latest real-life superhero moment involving a fish hook and some impromptu surgery. We also cover a cool free trade skills program being offered by Home Depot and wrap up with a heartwarming story about a man who thrifts Halloween costumes all year just to give them away to his community for free.
