Matt and Laci take a long look at the 1998 horror-comedy film Bride of Chucky.    The Child's Play franchise stands out among the classic horror movie series because it has, from the beginning, largely been stewarded by one man: screenwriter Don Mancini. The show goes through Mancini's inspiration for writing the original 1988 film as a critique on the advertising industry, and the diminishing returns of the two sequels that caused the franchise to go dormant for most of the '90s. Then, the success of Scream led to a revitalization of horror, so Chucky was brought back from the dead, and this time, he'd have a manic gothic dream girl in the form of Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). The history segment closes with a look at Jennifer Tilly's legacy, and how she had no idea how much playing Tiffany would define her career, or how much love people had for her character and the Chucky franchise. Then, Laci and Matt review Bride of Chucky itself—how well does it serve as a soft reboot of the franchise? Does the humor work? Does it successfully juggle its tones? Chucky's got a girlfriend! We're discussing the fourth entry in the Child's Play series, Bride of Chucky.

After his demise at the end of Child's Play 3, Chucky's remains are put into police storage until his old flame tiffany Valentine bribes them into her possession. With a quick bit of sewing and some voodoo for dummies the wise cracking doll is back in business. Tiffany however in unhappy with Chucky's new attitude which ultimately leads to her demise and should transfer into a doll of her own. We now go on a wild adventure to retcon the lore of the entire series while delivering some laughs along the way. In this weeks episode we bring you our review of Bride of chucky, some movie facts, listener thoughts and as always a few hot takes and a tonne of laughs. After a 7 year break, Don Mancini and the gang construct a new Chucky movie made for "The New Millenium". That's 90's Boomer talk for "Gen X is gonna love this!". This time Chucky is resurrected by his hot goth serial killer girlfriend Tiffany played by the ultra MILF Jennifer Tilly. Also, the great John Ritter is in this, NICE! Katherine Heigel is in it to. I know, neat. This movie is a piece of crap, but it's a cult classic and the 3 brown guys get all up in it.

We continue our month of Chucky by skipping over part 3 and heading straight to the fourth in the series, which marks a distinct change in tone and style. It's also missing Andy for the first time, but we hardly miss him because we love Jennifer Tilly so much! Leaning more heavily into the humor but keeping its horror vibe, it turned out to be a great new direction from Chucky's 80's slasher roots.
