FREDDY VS. JASON brings together two titans of '80s horror: Freddy Kreuger (Robert Englund) and Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger). In a bid to regain his strength through surging fear through the souls of Elm Street, Freddy manipulates Jason to doing some killing on his behalf. However, when Jason starts taking the credit and hacking through more of the available body count, Freddy grows jealous and petty. The fight is on, with a group of teenagers caught in the middle. This movie underwent 17 years of development hell before arriving in theaters. That's 17 years of studios losing and gaining rights to the franchises, installments developed on both sides in lieu of a team-up, a carousel of writers and directors pitching their ideas and ditching the project, and a replacement of one of the most iconic actors to ever don a horror villain's mask. Kane Hodder, you deserve the world. With all this being said, should FREDDY VS. JASON be regarded as a hallmark of the genre? No. It serves best as a sampler of what both franchises have to offer: Freddy's surrealism & sarcasm and Jason's massacring lumbering boogeyman. The CGI effects, emblematic of the time, don't always work. They often elicit a laugh. But given that FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V and FREDDY'S DEAD exist? We could've gotten much worse. The fact this exists in this form is a mini-miracle.A massive thanks to Dakota (To quote Tarantino, he's "a buddy who's more than a brother and a little less than a wife.") for requesting this episode. We also discuss the easy commute between Springwood and Camp Crystal Lake. We mention the not-so-impressive special effects, Lori's unsettling father, and Gibb's unpleasant odor. It's quite puzzling that Freddy's complicated plan to make the Elm Street teens remember him involves sending the savage Jason Voorhees on a murderous rampage. It seems like there are some flaws in this plan!?!?We hope you enjoy the show, thanks for listening!Email - Horrorprojectpodcast@hotmail.com  X (Formerly Twitter) - @TheHorrorProje1Instagram - horrorprojectpodcastTikTok - @horrorprojectpodcastSay Hi - Send The Horror Project a Message!

Freddy still has one more plan on getting back to Elm Street. He resurrects Jason Voorhees and sends him off to kill. The more bodies which fall to the ground, the stronger in which Freddy becomes. This is until, Freddy realizes that Jason isn't going to step aside easily, and must be taken down himself. Freddy vs. Jason is a 2003 American slasher film directed by Ronny Yu and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. It is a crossover between the A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises, being the eighth installment in the former and the eleventh in the latter. The film joins the two series in a shared universe and pits their respective antagonists, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, against each other. Freddy is weakened and forgotten because the citizens of his home town Springwood have defeated him by using medications that repress dreams. Freddy awakens Jason to stir up fear and grow his powers so that he may return and kill again. Jason turns out to not be as easily controlled as Freddy initially thought, and the two supernatural mass murderers come into conflict. The film is chronologically set after Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) and Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993), and is the last film in each franchise before their respective reboots. Freddy vs. Jason was released in the United States on August 15, 2003. The film received mixed reviews from critics but grossed over $116 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in each series. The film marks Robert Englund's final cinematic appearance as Freddy Krueger. A sequel and crossover with the Evil Dead franchise was planned, but it was ultimately scrapped and turned into a comic book limited series, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, and its follow-up The Nightmare Warriors. Since his last defeat, Freddy Krueger has been in Hell and unable to invade children's dreams, as the adults of Springwood have gone to extremes to make sure their children have forgotten him. Using his remaining power, Freddy resurrects Jason Voorhees. Appearing as Jason's mother, Pamela Voorhees, he manipulates Jason into killing the teens of Springwood to create fear in the townsfolk that Freddy has returned, which would allow him to regain his strength. Meanwhile, Lori Campbell, who lives with her widowed father, has a sleepover with her friends Kia and Gibb. They are later joined by Trey, Gibb's emotionally abusive boyfriend, and his friend Blake. Jason enters the house and murders Trey, and the police suspect Freddy. After a nightmare, Blake awakens to find his father decapitated by Jason, who then kills Blake himself. The police call it a murder–suicide the following day, hoping to conceal Freddy's return from the rest of the town.

The idea for a movie pitting Freddy Krueger against Jason Voorhees actually dates all the back to 1987 when New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures started talking about a crossover film following the success of “Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors” and “Friday the 13 the Part VI: Jason Lives.” Sadly, neither studio wanted to give up rights to the other character to make the film so the ambitious plans fell to the wayside. Talks about putting the two slasher icons into a single movie continued to bubble up over the years but it wasn't until 1999 when the project really started to get support from the studios again. Over $6 million was reportedly spent on various scripts but eventually writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon came up with an idea that everybody liked, which eventually led to Ronny Yu being hired as a director. Robert Englund returned for the eighth time to play Freddy while Ken Kirzinger was hired to portray Jason Voorhees despite early talks that Kane Hodder would come back to play the hockey mask killer again. When the film finally opened in 2003, the long awaited showdown landed at No. 1 at the box office for two weeks in a row as fans flocked to the theater to see two titans of horror square off…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to load up on hypnocil and jump in a van bound for Camp Crystal Lake as we review “Freddy vs. Jason”… Music courtesy of Andrew Scott Bell

This is Episode #387!The Bride with White Hair is a 1993 Hong Kong wuxia film directed by Ronny Yu, starring Brigitte Lin and Leslie Cheung. The film's main character, Lian Nichang, is loosely based on the protagonist of Liang Yusheng's novel Baifa Monü Zhuan, which served as source material for the 1982 film Wolf Devil Woman. However, Yu saw the film as a Romeo and Juliet story and said that the lovers' struggle against fate and their heroic duty inspired him more than the familiar trappings of most wuxia films. As such, the film departs significantly from the original source.

Every week this month we're going to be having special guest hosts that will be selecting the movies we'll be reviewing, for whatever reason they see fit. This week, Trevor is joined by his friend Sean Parker from Hapstance Films to review Ronny Yu's, Fearless (2006)! A martial arts biopic starring Jet Li as the historic wushu master Huo Yuanjia, the film serves as both a wonderful exhibition of traditional Chinese martial arts forms, as well as heavy handed delivery system for traditional Chinese cultural values. Falsely billed at the time of release as Jet Li's “final” wuxia/period martial arts film, the film showcases Li's talents across a wide variety of tones, styles and settings under the careful guiding hand of Yuen Woo Ping's masterful choreography. A true martial arts epic, the film paints it's narrative and themes in the very broadest of strokes, however it's stellar production values and frequent instances of incredible martial arts spectacle serve to even out the experience, resulting in an overall highly engaging moviegoing experience. After seven years, 1998's Bride of Chucky revived the Child's Play franchise in a most surprising way. But is the movie the series' apex or a weird step in the wrong direction. In any case, director Ronny Yu's film notably unites Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) with his blushing bride, Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly). In the fourth episode of our Child's Play/Chucky mega-series, Pablo Saldana helps us discuss why Bride of Chucky is such a pivotal turning point for the series. We'll discuss the movie's introduction of Tiffany, how it anoints Chucky as a top-tier horror villain, and how series writer Don Mancini takes creative control of Chucky's cinematic shenanigans. Listen in as we enter the "Chucky and Tiffany" section of the Child's Play franchise. And prepare to meet Chucky's seed with Mancini's directorial debut in our next episode. SYNOPSIS Killer doll Chucky (Brad Dourif) is resurrected by ex-girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). But following an argument, Chucky kills Tiffany and transfers her soul into a bride doll. The pair of murderous playthings embark on a quest to return to human form. And Chucky and Tiffany turn to Jesse (Nick Stabile) and Jade (Katherine Heigl), who are unaware that their cargo is alive.
