Adam Karch received a Maple Blues Award nomination for Acoustic Act in 2014 after the release of Blueprints.  He has released Moving Forward and Adam and I will explore his journey while we listen to tunes. Joanna Connor has been thrilling audiences with her guitar prowess, vocal stylings and song writing skills.  Her latest album is entitled Six String Stories and Joanna will join me to discuss her career and the new music. Eight O’Five Jive finally take their seat on the Monday Couch. They just competed their second IBC for the Nashville Blues Society, and received a Blues Blast Award nomination last year. They’ve just released their sophomore effort, Swing Set, and we’ll talk with the band about the music and where they are heading. Cee Cee James returns to The Couch to talk about her newest release Stripped Down & Surrendered, which brings Cee Cee’s rawness to the surface once again.  She and Rob “Slideboy” Andrews continue to evolve and create some sensational Tuneage. CeeCee James has written a series of memoirs that you will never be able to forget.  Absolutely. Guaranteed. During her interview, I was at a loss for words. I have heard many stories of abuse but I never heard one as intense as CeeCee's.  She is an incredibly gentle, warm woman who survived horrendous pain, neglect and hatred by her mother. Listening to her story, you will be drawn to tears and anger as you hear CeeCee share how the only touch she had ever known as a child was one of pain. At TWO WEEKS old, her father burned CeeCee's face and body with an iron. Her mother refused to feed or change CeeCee's diaper because she did not want to be manipulated by a baby's cries.  She wanted to teach her NOT to cry.  This was only the beginning of a lifetime of trauma. CeeCee never remembers a time as a child when she was not hungry....or cold.....or alone.....or hated. Yet, all CeeCee ever wanted was love. Even as a toddler she worked hard to please her mother, hoping for one gentle touch or one kind word.  She never got one!  EVER! CeeCee holds no animosity.  No bitterness. No unforgiveness.   No blame.  Instead, she understands the true necessity to forgive and move forward.  She is not looking for sympathy and her humility is unique, feeling that many others may have suffered more.   She wants people to understand how to let go of their past and hang onto hope -- the only thread to survival. This is a must 'hear to believe' podcast.  You will never be the same when you hear her story and realize the strength of the human spirit to survive.

I open the show speaking with Cee Cee James on Couch Kid News…Cee Cee and Rob have a new project in the works and we will discuss it and the fan-funding project they are running. I have met Chase Walker at the IBC when he has appeared in the Youth Showcase.  He now has his debut album, The Chase Walker Band and we will speak with him and his band-mates about their journey…though it has been a short-ride so far, it has been full of adventure and there is so much more to come. The Mighty Orq is out of Houston and was last seen on the stage at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis during the 2016 IBC Finals.  I look forward to speaking with this talented musicians and find out where he learned his distinctive style of performing.  We’ll also listen to tunes from his latest release, Love In A Hurricane. Then I get to sit with Cyril Neville, Tyrone Vaughn & Yonrico Scott from Royal Southern Brotherhood for a Couch Kid New Music Segment.  The band has released a new album entitled The Royal Gospel and the three guys wanted to speak about it. We’ll talk about the new music and what is next. Another Couch Kid New Music Segment with Reverend Freakchild returning to The Couch.  His new album is entitled Illogical Optimism.  I look forward to speaking to The Reverend about this three-disc release and also about the difficulties he has dealt with recently.
