The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism 04/17/25. A number of non-white people have shared the increased stress and constant confusion they're experiencing in the workplace. Gus suspects this is widespread and encourages non-white people to spend a bit more time preparing for increased hostilities or discourtesy from White or non-white colleagues. We'll also review a report Gus stumbled upon that suggests people classified as black are more likely to discuss their religious views in the Workplace. 1) The strongest religion in the known universe is the Religion of White Supremacy. 2) Gus does not encourage discussing religious views (or Racism) in the workplace. While Race Soldiers have a long history of grooming non-white people to worship White Jesus, fishing for prayer circles and bible studies with co-workers likely won't earn you a raise. We heard a number of non-white people report their White colleagues griping about black entertainers' alleged sexual misdeeds - like the great Sean "P Diddy" Combs and Shawn "Jay Z" Carter. #NoPoliticsOnTheJob #CounterViolence #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

Sailing a J40 Bermuda to St Thomas, Holiday edition Music - Rittz: White Jesus
The Context of White Supremacy hosts the final Neutralizing Workplace Racism summit of the 2024 calendar year. 2 days removed from White Jesus's birthday, we hope lots of non-white listeners got most if not the entire "holiday" week off from the plantation. Numerous employees, including Gus T., were required to punch for work while millions drank eggnog and opened gifts. We hear great illustrations of the importance of documentation. In Seattle, Dr. Benjamin Danielson won $21 million in his lawsuit against Seattle Children's Clinic - which is supposed to serve non-white and low income children and families with "dignity." Dr. Danielson described the wide spread System of White Supremacy which compromised his ability to provide care. He documented the widespread instances of abuse. We also hear from a C.O.W.S. listeners who details how his supervisor attempted to deny him a bonus by giving him an unwarranted low rating during his performance evaluation. #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The Context of White Supremacy continues our lengthy "holiday " tradition of broadcasting on White Jesus' birthday. With Gus just back from California and still in the midst of cataloging and receiving constructive material from numerous White institutions, we pause to revisit audio of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. 3rd generation general and child psychiatrist Dr. Welsing had a signature public exchange with Stanford University's Nobel Prize winning scholar and Race Solider Dr. William Shockley - who was renown for his views on the intellectual deficits of people classified as black. Gus T. thought these two scholars had one public debate on journalist Tony Brown's platform. This is false. Dr. Welsing and Dr. Shockley had a number of exchanges, and Stanford University has Shockley's personal recordings of several of these exchanges. Gus T. was able to get digital copies of everything, and will share a teaspoon from their 1973 joust. Gus will also disclose why he is not sharing the full audio. In short, non-white people - especially those interested in counter-racism, do not associate or support Gus T. No problem. #UnitedIndependent #CosmicAssignment #WhiteGeneticAnnihilation #Snowflake #Stanford #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#
The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In 11/02/24. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. This weekly broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS Convicted felon and former President Donald J. Trump will be the next President of the United States.... again. Pollsters and White journalists lied to us again, suggesting there was a close contest between VP Kamala Harris and Trump. #Beatdown Trump vanquished all competitors with a lot of help from White Women. Along side the Trump reunion, a White Man attempted a White Terrorist attack in Nashville, Tennessee. 24-year old Skylar Phillipi has been publicly labeled a White Supremacist and accused of attempting to create mass destruction in the "volunteer state." Phillipi's act of domestic terrorism reminded Gus of the December 2020 attack in Nashville where a White Man, Anthony Quinn Warner, detonated an improvised explosive device days before White Jesus' birthday. This blast was near a major cell phone network and disrupted service to over 10,000 phones and occured approximately 2 weeks before the January 6th Terrorist Breach of the Capitol. Trump's "political prisoners" are eagerly awaiting pardons. #TurnerDiaries #TheCOWS15Year INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The Sunday School Dropouts are proving their dropout status today! We are talking about all things White Christian Nationalism, including the origins, impacts, and how to heal with Rev. Angela Denker. Angela is the author of “Red State Christians” and the forthcoming book “Disciples of White Jesus” where she writes about the growing phenomenon of White Christian Nationalism and its impact on a specific group of people: White men and boys. Throughout this conversation we begin to see how this extremist approach began, why it thrives and even how to navigate relationships with people in our lives who live according to those values. Andrew and Laura also discuss the term ‘gaslighting' and explain what it truly means–instead of how it's talked about on social media and in pop culture–as a way to help people better organize and name what happened to them.Join the Religious Trauma and the Elections Support Groups! On this payday, Amber and Erika discuss America's hijacking of Jesus and the church's complicity with inequity, exploitative capitalism, and anti-blackness. We are joined by Stephanie M. House-Niamke, a sociologist whose work centers on power, access, and choice, across the areas of race, gender, and religion. Stephanie helps us see how problematic theological frameworks like the prosperity gospel and manifest destiny have resulted in the church being an extension of many of the same exclusionary, unjust practices propagated in our broader society. We also explore whether and under what conditions the Black church can return to itself, extricating the White Supremacy that has crept into its midst. Press play to hear what we have to say!

Both fade out as Jonathan Walton says “This is a KTF Press podcast.” After a brief pause, the intro piano music from “Citizens” by Jon Guerra plays briefly and then fades out.]Sy Hoekstra: Welcome to Shake the Dust, seeking Jesus, confronting injustice! I'm Sy HoekstraJonathan Walton: And I'm Jonathan Walton. Welcome to season 4!Sy Hoekstra: We are so excited to have you here. We're going to be doing something very special for this season during this presidential election cycleJonathan Walton: Yes, we're going back to our roots. The first thing we did with the company that makes this podcast, KTF Press, was publish an anthology in 2020 called Keeping the Faith. It had 36 authors writing political theology and personal stories to explain their opposition to Christian support for Donald Trump.Sy Hoekstra: We called it an anthology of dissent, a record of resistance toward the church's political witness in America. And our guests this season are going to be authors from that book, talking about what they wrote and how they're thinking about their faith and the political landscape now.Jonathan Walton: You've heard some of the writers from the book on this show before, like Dani Espiritu, Scott Hall, and Wissam Al-Saliby. And we're excited to bring you Dr. Randy Woodley, Brandi Miller, Mark Scandrette, Rasool Berry, and many more this season. The first episode is dropping this upcoming Friday, May 24, with Dr. Woodley.Sy Hoekstra: We've recorded some of these already, and we're really excited to get them to you in the coming months. What We Do at KTF, and WhySy Hoekstra: But before we jump into this season, we want to give you all a bit of a refresher on what exactly it is we do at KTF Press and why we do it. And the reason that we want to tell you all that is because we really need your support right now.Jonathan Walton: That's right. We do everything that we do to help people seek Jesus, confront injustice, and resist the idols of the American church that got us to the religious and political mess we're in right now. This show is all about hearing personal stories and informed discussions to help you do just that.Sy Hoekstra: And our weekly newsletter is where we curate media to help you in your discipleship and learning about politics and policy. You get commentary from us on issues important to our national discourse, and we also give you something each week to help you stay grounded and hopeful. Plus, you get news about what's going on with us at KTF, previews of this show, and a whole lot more.Jonathan Walton: We also write articles on similar subjects for our website, we have the anthology, and Tamice Spencer-Helms' incredible memoir we published last year, Faith Unleavened, about how White Jesus nearly destroyed her faith, and how she left him behind to find her way to liberation and the real Jesus.Sy Hoekstra: And we do all this with a couple things in mind. First, we always pay the most attention to marginalized voices, the people who our society oppresses and pushes to the side. We had a whole discussion on this in our very first episode, so if you want to learn more, you can always listen to that. But simply put, The opinions of people who a society favors get the most airtime, but people who a society harms and ignores actually have the clearest insight about the character of that society. And so if you want to understand the world around you better, you have to talk to marginalized people. Plus, God's ministry throughout the Bible is primarily directed toward the poor and oppressed, and his disciples primarily come from them. So you just have to train yourself to learn from people whose perspectives come from that angle on the world if you want to follow Jesus.Jonathan Walton: Another value of ours is trying to be both kind and humane toward people we disagree with, while remaining uncompromising about our own views. We believe, despite all the evidence on the internet to the contrary, that this is in fact possible [Sy chuckles]. But it requires a lot of intentional growth in the area of emotional health, so we talk a lot about that too.Sy Hoekstra: The good thing is, we've been practicing all this for a long time. We have been friends for 18 years now, talking and learning about these subjects together, and having our own sometimes very strong disagreements. We have had to learn how to talk across lines of difference with each other in real time as friends and followers of Jesus. Fortunately, we have been able to do that in communities with friends and mentors who are doing the same thing. On top of that, Jonathan has been doing justice ministry for well over a decade, and my career before this was in law and advocacy, and we want to just share all of this experience with you.We Need Your Support to Keep KTF RunningJonathan Walton: So, if all that sounds like something you can get behind, here is our ask of you. We need you to go to KTFPress.com and become a paid subscriber to our Substack. We have to get more subscribers if we're going to keep this going. So, if you can afford it, please subscribe. If you can't, just write to us at info@ktfpress.com and we'll give you a free or discounted subscription, whatever you want, no questions asked. Because we want as many people as possible to have access. But if you can, please go to KTFPress.com and sign up. On top of supporting what we do, you get access to all our many bonus episodes, and coming soon, monthly subscriber chats with me and Sy. Also, if you're already a paid subscriber, consider upgrading to our founding member tier, which will immediately get you a free book.Sy Hoekstra: We've been doing all this podcasting and writing and book publishing as a side project for a while now, and we have some incredible subscribers supporting what we do. And they are covering the costs of what it takes to produce this show, to keep the websites running, and pay a bunch of our regular business expenses. We actually would not be here without them. But we've kept those expenses very low. I don't know if you know, but we're not recording this from KTF Press Studios, right next door to NPR. This company is two people with some basic sound equipment that our subscribers paid for, and our laptops. We occasionally get help from other people with laptops. We work in whatever room is available in our homes that are full of other people. At least once, that room was my closet.Jonathan Walton: [laughs]The point is this might sometimes sound like an established operation, but it's a little scrappier than you think. And I think you would agree work like this should not be a side project.Sy Hoekstra: To be fully transparent, I cannot afford to keep doing this as a side project. Jonathan does this work around his full-time job, but if I'm going to keep putting as much time into this as I do, which is a lot, I'm going to have to stop working for free.Jonathan Walton: So here's what we're doing. We're leveling up our branding and designs. You may have seen that on our website and in our emails. We'll also be doing some advertising, and of course continuing to put our best work here. But we need you to do your part!Sy Hoekstra: Jonathan, how many paid subscribers do we have right now?Jonathan about 120.Sy Hoekstra: And how many do we want to have by the end of this year?Jonathan Walton: One thousand! [laughs]Sy Hoekstra: So we have just a few more to go. Please, please go to KTFPress.com and sign up. Don't wait.Jonathan Walton: And there are a few free things you can do apart from subscribing. That newsletter we mentioned is free, so sign up for our free mailing list if you can't become a paid subscriber, and forward that thing so many times. That's also at KTFPress.comSy Hoekstra: You can also give this show a five-star review on Apple or Spotify, and say something nice about us in a review if you're on Apple Podcasts. You can also like our Facebook page and follow us on Instagram and Threads. But to reiterate, the most important thing we need you to do is go to KTFPress.com and become a paid subscriber. By the way, cool new trick. If you're listening to this on Spotify, just go back to the bonus episode right before this one in the feed, click the button to unlock that episode, and it will take you right where you need to go to Subscribe.Outro and OuttakeJonathan Walton: Alright everyone, thank you so much for listening. Once again, we're starting season 4 this upcoming Friday, May 24, with Dr. Randy Woodley. We will see you then![The song “Citizens” by Jon Guerra fades in. Lyrics: “I need to know there is justice/ That it will roll in abundance/ And that you're building a city/ Where we arrive as immigrants/ And you call us citizens/ And you welcome us as children home.” The song fades out.]Sy Hoekstra: Okay, [singing a made-up tune] let me hit the button to stop this recording.Jonathan Walton: [commanding, in an English accent] Cease recording. Immediately.Sy Hoekstra: [with fake dramatic anger] Cease it now! This is a public episode. “Historically, Jesus has been distorted, warped, corrupted, subverted, twisted, bender, abused, diverted, deflected, misapplied, misused, misrepresented, misinterpreted, misconstrued, falsified, and garbled. The faith-based community fights over interfaith relationships, secular and faith-based relationships, religious text versions, religious texts, religious text translations, "White Jesus", "Black Jesus", religious text transliterations, and multiculturalism. Jesus doesn't engage in such fights.” -Antonio Myers. “Many from the Baby Boomer generation are skipping church because of shifting priorities in later life, the digital divide impacts engagement, disenchantment with institutional religion, health and mobility concerns, political and social views clashing, generational shift in beliefs, economic factors, desire for community elsewhere, changes in family dynamics, lack of engaging content, increased travel and mobility, more focused on personal development, exhaustion with ritual, preference for solitude in spirituality, perception of church as outdated, quest for inclusivity, impact of the Internet.” -Bob Jameson. “Many people no longer want to go to church because they are seeking spiritual fulfillment elsewhere, perception of irrelevance, desire for inclusivity and acceptance, the rise of “the nones”, discomfort with organizational politics, financial expectations and obligations, the digital age and online communities, changing family dynamics and schedules, seeking authenticity and transparency, intellectual and theological curiosity, demand for rational and critical engagement, personal spirituality over organized religion, impact of technology and social media, shifts in social and moral values, desire for genuine community and connection, the need for flexibility and adaptability, cultural and religious pluralism.” -Jane Andrews. “The seventeen reasons for Christianity declining in America is because of rise of secularism, access to diverse philosophies, institutional failures and scandals, evolving social values, scientific and technological advances, interfaith relationships and multiculturalism, increased focus on individualism, critical examination of religious texts, perception of religion as irrelevant and outdated, desire for authenticity and personal connection, influence of New Age and alternative beliefs, disillusionment with religious exclusivity, impact of education and critical thinking, political and social polarization, shift toward experience over doctrine, influence of media and popular culture, personal trauma and negative church experiences.” -Jane Andrew's. “Conflicts between faith and science, personal hardships or negative encounters with religious institutions, the enigma of evil and suffering, exposure to interfaith and multicultural perspectives, intellectual uncertainties and inquiries, yearning for freedom, social and cultural transformations, feeling disconnected or lacking a sense of belonging, seeking authenticity in their spiritual experience, the impact of secularism, family dynamics and its influence, evolving personal beliefs, social and political issues, exploring inclusivity, the impact of media and the abundance of information, seeking a sense of community, contemplating the nature of God, shifting life priorities are eighteen reasons why people stop being Christians.” -Jane Andrews. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Warren Read. A White male, writer and educator, Mr. Warren is a Washington state native. Once again, James Loewen's Sundown Towns (Racially Restricted Regions) is instructive because many areas of Washington state and Minnesota where hostile to and/or prohibited the presence of black people. Read wrote about his White Grandfather, Louis Dondino, who participated in lynching thee black males in Duluth, Minnesota in 1920. Dondino served a brief stint in prison for his conviction of rioting (not murder) in this case. Read's book, The Lyncher in Me, is his account of this grizzly act of White Terrorism and a biography of his White (Racist?) family's criminal history - which includes child rape. Gus found this ironic considering the reason Dondino and other Whites lynched three black dudes is because the privileged trio was accused of raping a White girl - which turned out to be a lie. Read describes growing up in a mostly White Washington state enclave. However, he was "terrorized" in middle school by a loudmouth, thick-armed, kinky-haired black female. Read starts his memoir suggesting that he, a "gay" White dude, is also libel to be lynched or assassinated like Matthew Shephard. Contrary to popular opinion, Shephard is not a hate crime victim. Rather, this White dude was killed in a drug deal gone bad. Mr. Read is aware of this, but works to deceive readers into thinking that all kinds of White people are lynched and crucified like the biblical White Jesus. #WhitePeopleCantBeIgnorantAboutRacism #TheDelectableNegro #TheCOWS15Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

During this holiday season, you likely encountered public nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus, presenting the family with very rare exceptions as white. And the same can be said of his ubiquitous adult portrait –– with fair skin and hair a radiant gold, eyes fixed on the middle distance. In this segment from 2020, Eloise talks to Mbiyu Chui, pastor at the Shrine of the Black Madonna in Detroit, about unlearning Jesus's whiteness. She also hears from Edward Blum, author of The Color of Christ: The Son of God and the Saga of Race in America, about how the image came dominate in the U.S., and psychologist Simon Howard on how White Jesus has infiltrated our subconsciouses. Lastly, Eloise speaks to Rev. Kelly Brown Douglas, womanist theologian and Dean of the Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary, about the theology of the Black Christ. This is segment first aired in our October 1st, 2020 program, God Bless.

Would Christianity have acted differently had it always depicted Jesus accurately?
"White Jesus can't walk on water, but he can build the hell out a slave ship." Michael Harriot explains why using religion and faith as a way to govern can be problematic. He discusses the many hypocrisies that are inflicted on the American people daily, including discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community but allowing divorce or racial segregation when the Bible states, "love thy neighbor." This bonus episode is the funniest, most out there, make you cackle episode you'll hear. James starts off telling us about the amazing deal he got when purchasing a Purple Rain shirt… which definitely had him excited. From there, we read some horrible bumper stickers.
“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.” E.B. White Jesus is not afraid to hang out with messy, unkept, sinners. In fact, that was his very plan from the beginning! In this episode I am taking you back in time to parts of my story where I can see now that Jesus was there….wooing me, drawing me, even tho I wasn't ready to say yes. I'll show you how he was making deposits that would begin to pay dividends later. And my hope is that as I have shared how this going back has drawn me deeper and allowed me to worship in new ways, that you'll be eager to do the same in your own life, if you haven't already.
Using the language of human power (king, master, lord, etc) has warped our understanding of God. We've recreated God and Jesus in the image of our own human rulers, despots, dictators, and villains. But if God isn't like earthly rulers, then what is the reign of God actually about?

Sunday, 5 p.m. CST, May 28, 2023 Yes, his truth is marching on, but with opposition from some churches!!! How can you teach echatology (end-time events) without acknowledging who the real Jews are? Of course, there are great churches doing great things spiritually, physically, and mentally. But the ministers will have to give an account to the Father for the damage they know of from these lying images. Many men of God/Yah are highly intelligent and simply know better. They know that the people of the Bible are literally people of very dark skin, and they see dark-skinned people suffering around them with a serious identity conflict inside. Yet they are more concerned about a church split if they tell the truth. They should simply trust the same God, or Yah, they have been teaching about. Even though the new identity in Christ trumps the fleshly identity, this doesn't give them an alibi to participate in white supremacy. We need all the truth to sustain us, and furthermore, the nations must know. Also, let's talk about biblical proof that African Americans and others scattered all over the earth are indeed lost tribes of Israel that have now been found. In the latest episode of the Faith Over Breakfast podcast, Pastors Eric and Andy engage in a profound and stimulating conversation on the depiction of Jesus. Prompted by a question from Rick Drost on the need for a more culturally diverse representation of Christ, especially in light of the pervasive image of a white Jesus, the hosts dive into the significance of imagery and its role in shaping our relationship with the Lord. The hosts acknowledge the historical and cultural context in which the white Jesus image has been perpetuated and the harm it has caused people of color. They further explore the idea that, while Jesus transcends race and culture, our understanding of him is inevitably shaped by our own cultural lens. Therefore, creating more diverse depictions of Jesus can greatly enhance our understanding of who he is.Support the show"Faith Over Breakfast with Pastors Andy & Eric" is a weekly podcast where Pastors Andy and Eric come together over a imaginary delicious breakfast to talk about faith, food, sermons, culture, and more. What's the difference between deconstruction and decolonization? Author and activist Tamice Spencer-Helms joins us to share insights from her new book FAITH UNLEAVENED. How did Tamice meet White Jesus? Why was he so detrimental to her faith? And how has she learned to walk away from him and back to the brown Palestinian liberator?
Doug Pagitt sits down with Tamice Spencer-Helms to talk about her new book, Faith Unleavened: The Wilderness Between Trayvon Martin & George Floyd. In her powerhouse debut, Tamice Spencer-Helms exposes the leaven of whiteness that pervades so much of Christianity in America today. At a young age, the Black church introduced her to a God of love, empowerment, and joy. But an encounter with White Jesus set her on a path that nearly destroyed her faith altogether. Persistent police brutality against Black people, and the white church's persistent excuses for it, forced Spencer-Helms to carefully identify how the idol of whiteness keeps Christians captive, and how we can burn the idol down. Doug Pagitt is the Executive Director and one of the founders of Vote Common Good. He is also a pastor, author, and social activist. @pagitt Daniel Deitrich is a singer-songwriter, former-pastor-turned-activist, and producer of The Common Good Podcast. @danieldeitrich Our theme music is composed by Ben Grace. @bengracemusic votecommongood.com votecommongood.com/podcast facebook.com/votecommongood twitter.com/votecommon
