Actor John Scott Clough appeared in two of the great 80s movies - one underrated and one super cheesy. His big break came in the Sidney Poitier directed Fast Forward about a dance troupe from Ohio who move to the Big Apple to "make it". After appearances in other movies and TV shows of the era like Family Ties, Empty Nest and the Love Boat, he also had a juicy role in Gross Anatomy with Matthew Modine and Christine Lahti. Both Good Morning, Vietnam and Eddie Murphy Raw were huge hits that year and were built around their stars' personas, further cementing Williams and Murphy as two of the biggest stars of the decade. Do their brands of humor hold up all these years later? Can topical humor from back then work today? We get into all that as well as a Bill Cosby movie that most certainly does not hold up. Tread Perilously's Patreon subscriber request month continues with a look at Evil via the episode called "C is for Cop." When a New York police officer shoots a stranded Black motorist in the middle of the night, he claims demonic possession as his defense. The team is soon called in to investigate. It leads David almost immediately to the officer's wrist tattoo -- a symbol that correlates with one of the sigils. Meanwhile, Ben confronts his night terrors (sort of) and Kristen tries to hide her part in LeRoux's death. Justin is once again confronted by a secret show, and because of its nature, comparisons to Locke & Key become inevitable. Erik proves incapable of saying the name "Katja" correctly. The play, running through July 29 at BTG's Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, takes the audience on a sometimes funny, always deeply personal, journey of denial, neglect, abuse, understanding and by the end: hope.
