Today we're joined by cartoonist Nathan Gelgud to tackle the most polarizing and some might say Unwatchable period of a legendary filmmaker's career. Jean-Luc Godard was one of the leading figures of the French New Wave, at least until he abandoned narrative filmmaking for experimental political films that alienated much of his audience. We'll be looking at two films from this most controversial of eras: 1967's political docu-fiction LA CHINOISE, and 1969's avant-garde documentary BRITISH SOUNDS.You can find more from Nathan at https://nathangelgud.com/Unwatchables is hosted by Marc Dottavio and Seth Troyer, produced by Tony Scarpitti, featuring artwork by Micah Kraus. At Soldier Field, the All Blacks and Ireland combined for what could generously be described as a slow-motion car crash — a stop–start slog dominated by a pedantic referee, an eye-rolling red card, and enough resets to make you question your life choices. It was as attractive as… well, something deeply unattractive. Somehow, the All Blacks eventually clawed their way out of the mud and Ireland's grasp to win, but by then, most viewers were emotionally bruised and spiritually broken. Over in Twickenham, England pummelled the Wallabies with typical English enthusiasm for suffering — helped along by a peroxide-blonde prodigy who has everyone from pundits to your nan saying “this kid is special” with alarming confidence. And at Wembley, the Springboks reduced Japan to rugby confetti in front of about twelve people and a seagull. Grab a beer and enjoy

The NFL has dominated television for decades...with the vast majority of NFL games being decided by one possession. However...the NFL has experienced a steep decline in quality of play over the last couple of years...and the 2025 NFL season has been disastrous. We discuss the current NFL product...and explain why the NFL product is substandard. We explain why the biggest problem in the NFL...is the lack of development of young quarterbacks. We also question why no one is talking about the NFL decline...and highlight how half the games this season have ended in blowouts. BT and Sal unleash a scathing post-mortem on the Jets' brutal London game, declaring the early-morning NFL matchup "unwatchable" and "not real football." Sal proposes an extreme solution: relegate the perpetually bad Jets from TV broadcasts entirely. The hosts and callers dissect the team's myriad of blunders, including the quarterback's "skittish" play, the lack of physical receivers, and a baffling sequence that saw the coach call a time-out only to run the clock out instead of attempting to score, leading to fiery demands for coaching changes and a deep skepticism about the organization's competence.
Mike Francesa breaks down the Jets' and Giants' losses in Week 5. The Giants took an early lead on the Saints but couldn't hang on, and the Jets gotta jet.
The NFL continues to be the most dominant sports league in America...but the quality of play throughout the NFL continues to decline. NFL games are ending in blowouts with more regularity...and nearly 1/3 of the teams in the NFL are unwatchable. We discuss the first five weeks of the 2025 NFL season. We discuss the overall decline in quality of play...and how NFL quarterbacks are substandard compared to past generations. We also discuss Tom Brady criticizing the quality of play in the NFL...and question if the NFL can solve the problem of underdeveloped quarterbacks. Ken Carman and Anthony Lima talk about their must-watch & unwatchable NFL teams heading into Week 3.
Sal dissects the emotional rollercoaster of being a fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Mets this season. He highlights the maddening inconsistency of both teams—the Yankees nearly blowing a 10-1 lead and the Mets' constant ups and downs. Despite all the frustrations, Sal insists that both teams have the potential to make a legitimate run at the World Series, especially given the current MLB playoff format. He praises the Mets for finally "piggybacking" pitchers to overcome their starting rotation's weaknesses and notes that Anthony Volpe's past playoff experience could make him a valuable asset for the Yankees in October. Ultimately, Sal argues that the regular season's flaws will be forgotten if either team can "just get there" and catch fire in the playoffs.

Last night the world turned away from the chaos of current affairs to bask in the glow of Tinseltown's most auspicious event; the Oscars. After some bumpy ceremonies in recent years, the 97th Academy Awards was actually fairly muted. Still, there were eyebrow-raising moments to spark people's interest. Comedy-drama about a young sex worker ‘Anora' won Best Picture as the lead Mikey Madison ‘honoured' the sex worker community, and host Conan O'Brien took a swipe at trans actress Karla Sofía Gascón's past controversial social media posts.
