Happy David Teague Day! :) We declare September 21 to be a new holiday, based on the birthday of our friend and co-host, David Teague, who we lost back in March 2022. In the early days of the podcast, Dave would persistently request that we review the sci-fi/horror/comedy B-movie, "Killer Klowns From Outer Space." Eventually, we caved in and reviewed it in episode #020. In honor and memory of Dave on his birthday, this episode contains all the clips of Dave's requests for Killer Klowns, followed by a slightly abridged version of episode #020 itself. To celebrate David Teague Day, do any one or more of the following... Watch a bad movie (on purpose), go to a movie, talk about a movie with your friends, play a game, read a Star Wars book, read any book, enjoy history, enjoy nature, go to the beach or at least think about the beach, play the main theme to Star Wars as you cross a state/county/city border, write something, sketch something, make something with your hands, be silly, be smart, be different, be happy, make someone happy, or just...be nice. ...And, listen to this episode, of course. ;) : : Dedicated in memory of co-host, friend, brother: David Charles Teague. : : You can contact us at... - E-Mail: DiscerningGeeks@gmail.com - Twitter: @DiscerningGeeks - Facebook: Discerning Geeks Portal - Link Tree: linktr.ee/discerninggeeks Please rate or review us wherever you listen to podcasts. After playing 47 games for the Carlton Blues, Michael Gibbons was a surprise delisting at the conclusion of the 2021 season. The 26-year-old livewire forward opens up about his dramatic three years at Princes Park, where he was coached by both Brendon Bolton and David Teague during the Blues' rebuild.Gibbons came to the club following a standout five seasons at Williamstown Football Club from 2014 to 2018, taking out the JJ Liston Medal in 2016 and 2018, which is awarded to the best player in the VFL.On multiple occasions, Gibbons felt he was on the verge of being recruited only to have his heart broken on draft night. Finally, persistence paid off when Carlton took him as a rookie at the beginning of 2019.Gibbons quickly established himself as a regular in a pressure-forward role in the Carlton Blues' team, but a freak injury at training caused his hamstring to “explode” in his third season, which Gibbons concedes may have cost him his AFL career.Getting axed came as a “shock” to Gibbons, and he details his heart-to-heart conversation with now Blues head coach Michael Voss. One of Gibbons' biggest supporters has been former Carlton captain and cancer survivor Sam Docherty, who has provided a rare perspective on the value of a footy career.
Our guest for this episode is David Teague (aka Teague Bass). Touted as one of the most talented bassists in Asia, this “bassist” for hire, is a versatile musician whose vast repertoire spans across blues, rock, R&B, jazz, hip hop, house, reggae, ska, and pop. A dynamic and energetic performer, Teague's onstage performance and showmanship are legendary in Singapore and throughout the region. Born and raised in Michigan, Teauge now resided in Asia. He fell in love with the music scene and culture after initially touring the region 25 years ago and decided to make it his home. With a career spanning over three decades, Teauge has opened for legendary acts such as Metallica and performed and toured worldwide with music legends like Alexander O'Neal, Cherell, Vesta Williams, Cynthia Johnson, Michael Bland, and Rocky Robins. Since the 80's, he has toured USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Japan, Taiwan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, and Germany. Currently Teague performs with the Luke Buirski Project (LBP), Adjazent, and JS Funk and his original project, Dirty Perfect. He is also an ambassador and artist for the up and coming social network, Yay+. The platform supports independent artists and connects them to others around the globe. As a member of Yay+ this is how Skunk connected with Teague, and it was an absolute delight to speak with from his home in Malaysia. We talk about his career, the surrounding area and culture, cuisine, influences, Yay+ and more. He even showed us a stellar view of Singapore from his apartment (available on our youtube channel). Teague truly has the right attitude when it comes to his career as a musician and life in general. He always plays with passion and loves to perform and share the joy of his craft and the universal language of music.
