C8 Health is solving a problem that costs hospitals billions: the implementation gap between medical knowledge and actual clinical practice. Despite hospitals investing heavily in clinical trials, licensing platforms like UpToDate and OpenEvidence, and creating comprehensive policies and guidelines, this knowledge remains siloed across 20+ disconnected systems per department. Operating across over 100 hospital systems including most top-40 US healthcare networks, C8 Health has become the standard platform for academic anesthesiology departments by making best-practice knowledge instantly accessible at the point of care. In a recent episode of BUILDERS, I sat down with Galia Rosen Schwarz, Co-Founder and CEO of C8 Health, to learn how the company evolved from a Geneva University Hospitals research project during COVID to building a land-and-expand motion that penetrates notoriously difficult enterprise healthcare logos through focused department-level entry.Topics DiscussedWhy hospitals struggle to operationalize best practices despite massive knowledge investmentsThe department-first penetration strategy that unlocked top-40 healthcare system logosHow high product engagement converted two non-paying pilots into 20+ qualified pipeline opportunities at a single conferenceMisalignment between founder value assumptions and actual buyer languageWhy 2-4 monthly micro-conferences outperform major industry events for qualified pipeline generationMeasuring everything: tracking conversion from leads through MQLs, SQLs, opportunities to closed dealsGTM Lessons For B2B FoundersUse department-level entry to crack enterprise healthcare logos: With only $90K in friends-and-family funding, C8 Health chose department deals over enterprise-wide deployments. This wasn't just about deal size—it was strategic penetration of logos that typically require 18-24 month sales cycles. Single departments provided faster procurement, immediate user feedback for product iteration, and internal advocates who later championed enterprise expansion. The land-and-expand data became their enterprise selling asset: C8-level executives see real usage metrics, clinician testimonials, and measured outcomes (reduced surgical site infections, shortened length of stay) from their own system before enterprise conversations begin. B2B founders facing long enterprise cycles should map department-level entry points that demonstrate ROI quickly while preserving expansion paths.Extract buyer language systematically—they sell differently than you think: C8 Health positioned around clinician benefits: easy knowledge access, time savings, and empowerment. Their champions sold it completely differently to peers: "administrative burden reduction" and "peace of mind that staff consistently follow our chosen best practices across every indication." This wasn't end-user value—it was management value that department heads actually budget for. Galia's insight: you must measure and message separately for buyers versus end users. B2B founders should implement structured win/loss interviews and case study processes specifically to capture verbatim buyer language, then test whether your current messaging actually resonates with how champions sell you internally.//Sponsors:Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.ioThe Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co//Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I HireSenior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Dr. Galia Schwarz, CEO and Co-Founder of C8 Health, has developed a platform that addresses the gap between hospital best practices and their implementation across all departments. This approach consolidates medical knowledge from numerous disconnected systems and uses AI to proactively deliver relevant information to a clinician. C8 Health does not create best practices; it ensures that a hospital's vetted standards are communicated consistently to provide optimal patient care. Galia explains, "Hospitals are struggling to implement their best practices effectively, or in other words, control the quality and cost of care delivery. And let me explain this. There is tons of medical knowledge out there, and now with AI coming into our lives, there is even more. And hospitals create this knowledge through clinical trials, or they license this knowledge through platforms like Open Evidence or UpToDate. And every hospital takes these global best practices and turns them into local best practices, things like protocols, guidelines, procedures, and educational content. Any type of knowledge whose purpose is to ensure that standards of care are met. But I haven't met one hospital that knows how to take these best practices and turn them into actual practice, and this is what we allow them to do." "So first of all, on a conceptual level, our platform consolidates fragmented knowledge across departments or sites into a single source and uses AI to surface the right guidance at the right moment based on the clinician's role, schedule, and patient context. So, for example, we can create an experience where we say, "Hi, Dr. X. Tomorrow you are scheduled for OR number eight. You have these four procedures. At 8:00 AM, you have a CABG procedure. These are the best practices of your hospital for this procedure. This is what changed since the last time you did this procedure. The guitar player who helped define pub rock in the 1970s is still making records. Brinsley Schwarz’s latest album, Shouting at the Moon, asks the same question that runs through much of his recent work: why can’t we get it together before it’s too late? The podcast then moves back to when his eponymous band became accidental pioneers of a movement they never quite intended to lead. There’s the infamous 1970 trip to New York’s Fillmore East that went spectacularly wrong, the moment Van Morrison left him “completely dumbstruck”, and the five years that followed when the band decided to simply get good. Between stories about Dave Edmunds’ backhanded compliments and 45-minute versions of ‘Niki Hoeky’, Schwarz reveals a musician who found his sound early and never saw much reason to abandon it. He remembers Bob Andrews with genuine affection and admits he didn’t write much during the Brinsleys because Nick Lowe was better at it. In the spring of 1974, a bold experiment arrived on the American sports scene: World Team Tennis (WTT) — a mixed-gender professional league co-founded and championed by Billie Jean King, who envisioned a more inclusive, fan-friendly, and forward-looking version of the sport. WTT challenged tennis tradition and reimagined how the game could be played, packaged, and consumed. With innovative scoring, raucous arena atmospheres, and genuine star power, the league aimed to pull tennis out of the country club and into the mainstream. Men and women competed side-by-side, fans were encouraged to cheer, and matches moved at a faster, television-friendly pace. It was daring, disruptive, and unmistakably ahead of its time. The original incarnation of WTT lasted just five seasons, folding in 1978 amid financial losses, franchise instability, and the realities of building a national sports league before modern media economics took hold. Yet its influence — on tennis, sports marketing, and gender equity — continues to echo decades later. John Schwarz, author of"World Team Tennis and the Legacy of a Sports League", joins the pod this week for a revealing conversation that brings rare firsthand perspective to the original circuit's remarkable story. Schwarz is uniquely positioned to tell it: during WTT's initial 1974-78 run, he separately served in the front offices of both the league itself, and then for one of its most emblematic franchises — the Robert Kraft-owned Boston Lobsters. In many respects, the Lobsters were a lens into WTT itself — a franchise that embodied the league's ambition, creativity, and community appeal, while also confronting the harsh economic truths that ultimately doomed many teams. Despite its short existence, Schwarz explains why WTT mattered, why it struggled, and why its lessons still resonate in today's evolving sports landscape. In 2026, everything is different. AI is scaling both research and publishing productivity. Impact factors no longer matter. Big name journal publishers launch offspring journals with little credentials other than the brand. How should we make sense of all this to figure out which journals are really important to our field? It is time for a new, rigorous ranking of IS journals. Problem is, we cannot really agree on our ranks and our reasons. You need to help us: give us your top ten ranking of IS journals with your reasoning. Together, we can find out what is best for our field going forward. References Seidel, S., Berente, N., Guo, H., Oh, W. Note: This podcast is also available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/_J8I4ZB72bo This is the kind of conversation about Israel and Palestine you won't hear anywhere else. Rabbi Sid Schwarz, founding rabbi of Congregation Adat Shalom and longtime progressive Zionist, and Sam Sherman, a playwright, actor, and anti-Zionist activist who grew up in Schwarz's congregation, model how to engage in respectful dialogue across profound ideological differences about Israel and Palestine. Schwarz discusses his decades-long commitment to what he calls "spiritual Zionism"—affirming Israel's right to exist while vocally opposing policies that violate Jewish values. Sherman explains his anti-Zionist position rooted in concern for Palestinian dignity and opposition to what he sees as institutionalized Jewish supremacy. Despite their disagreements on the meaning of Zionism, the legitimacy of violence, and the future of the region, both speakers demonstrate deep respect, genuine curiosity, and a commitment to staying in relationship. As Sam prepares to return to the West Bank to work with the Center for Jewish Nonviolence, this conversation offers a rare and moving example of how Jews across generational and ideological divides can engage with empathy, learn from each other, and remain part of the same Jewish community even when fundamental disagreements persist.
