RAPID AGING SUCKS. Well, that's one of the main lessons of this episode where Dr. Pulaski is exposed to a virus that makes its victims age rapidly. Meanwhile, Bryan and Kristen explore the IMDb of one of the guest cast, wonder who lines up to get Diana Muldaur's autograph (when she used to attend conventions), and discuss how the high res conversion of the season two episodes actively disrupts the viewing experience by calling attention to smaller details that otherwise would've been ignored and making everything look not so good. Does that ding the episode enough points to merit a KILL?The grades begin at (24:03).

David Frankham played Larry Marvick in the "Star Trek" season three episode, "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" but his extensive resume traces all the way back to the 1940s. Mr. Frankham, who is the oldest guest to appear on this podcast at 97 years young, has seen it all and has tons of amazing tales from a bygone era of Hollywood.  David explains how he found his way into acting serving in the British Army during WW II, working for the BBC, his first television gig in front of 25 million people thanks to Rosemary Clooney, how Elizabeth Taylor and Sir Alec Guinness started his acting career in Hollywood, tales of kindness from Vincent Price, a wealth of Angela Lansbury stories, voicing Sgt. Tibbs in "101 Dalmations" and his encounters with the man behind The Mouse, Walt Disney, working on "King Rat," and great stories with Steve McQueen, George Cukor, Capucine, and even being attacked by Judy Gardland with a shoe!  And, of course, loads of memories from Star Trek, including working with Diana Muldaur, William Shatner, DeForest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, and the behind-the-scenes drama that shut down production!  Check out his book "Which One Was David?" on Amazon - https://amzn.to/3rAmAWH NOTE: This interview was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA Strike of 2023. We're thrilled to welcome back director Ralph Senensky for our deep dive of his sixth and final "Star Trek" episode, the sublime third season classic "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" When the Enterprise is assigned to transport a Federation ambassador back to his homeworld, the mission turns out to be both dangerous and delicate. It's dangerous because the Medusan ambassador's formless appearance must be contained, or the sight of him will drive anyone insane. And it's delicate because the ambassador's devoted aid, Dr. Miranda Jones, has a complex relationship with their accompanying technical specialist, Laurence Marvick, who is smitten with her. When Marvick's jealousy takes a turn for the worst, the Enterprise is sent spiraling out of control into the intergalactic void, where only thing that can save the ship is a fragile mind link between the Medusan ambassador and Mr. Spock. After producing two back-to-back episodes that were among the worst of the series, "Star Trek" rebounded in a big way with "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" In addition to featuring a deeply moving story, the episode if marked by inspired direction from Ralph Senensky, an epic score composed by George Duning and, above all else, magnificent performances from both Leonard Nimoy and guest star Diana Muldaur. Riker is dying from an attack on his leg from something living on an unexplored planet. The stakes are set ridiculously high, but it's ruined by a large portion of the episode playing through clips of Riker fightin' and f**kin' from the past two seasons. The crew had to produce this one on a shoestring budget and it shows. Greg hosts Re:Engage's own little bit of a clip show as we talk through some of our own favorite moments from s1 & s2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and give shout-outs to some of our listeners. Lezárt tárolóban érkezik a medúzaiaktól küldött Kollos nagykövet, akinek megpillantása az emberek számára azonnali őrületet eredményez. A különös lény kíséretében érkező Miranda Jones a férfiak folyamatos kereszttüzében találja magát, figyelmét azonban a Kollos mellett töltött megbízása, és a nagykövettel kialakított különleges kapcsolata köti le, ennek köszönhetően a követséggel érkező kitartó udvarlóját, Larry Marvicket is csúnyán lepattintja. Miután a féltékeny férfi váratlanul a nagykövet életére tör, a találkozás következtében megőrülő Marvick olyan messzire repíti az Enterprise legénységét, ahonnan hagyományos navigációs módszerekkel sohasem térhet haza. Aktuális adásunkban ’A medúza pillantása’ című epizódról beszélgetünk. Rövid hírszekció: • Vicces otthoni filmet forgatott James McAvoy a karanténban: a Star Trek paródiában még Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Steven Cree (Outlander) és Kevin Mains (Outlaw King) is szerepelnek. - https://trekmovie.com/2020/07/08/watch-james-mcavoy-stars-in-homemade-star-trek-spoof-star-force-sci-fisolation/ • Itt tart jelenleg a Gergő megsegítéséért létrehozott kampány: a részletekről Ádám számol be. A forgatásról szóló visszaemlékezése egyébként itt elérhető: https://senensky.com/is-there-in-truth-no-beauty/

Félmillió éves bezártságban és test nélkül tengeti mindennapjait Sargon, Thalassa és Henoch, akik egy fejlett civilizáció képviselőiként a felszín alatt vészelték át a saját bolygójukat romba döntő konfliktust. Az utolsó túlélők a fajuk fenntartása érdekében Kirk kapitány segítségét kérik, a robottestek építése közben azonban Henoch és Thalassa számára olyan ellenállhatatlanná válik a hús-vér test iránti kísértés, hogy az súlyosan veszélyezteti a gazdatestet szolgáltató Spock és Dr. Mulhall életét. Aktuális adásunkban az eredeti sorozat ’Visszatérés a holnapba’ című epizódjáról beszélgetünk. Rövid hírszekció: • Voyager kibeszélő podcastet indít Robert Duncan McNeill és Garrett Wang ‘The Delta Flyers’ címmel. A pilottal kezdik és minden epizódon végigmennek. A műsor május elején indul. • Online vetítést szervez a Paramount a Khan haragja számára. • A készítők Billy Blackburn-ből csináltak androidot, akinek a hosszú forgatási napot evés nélkül kellett végigcsinálnia a makeup miatt, miközben csak szívószálon keresztül tudott inni. • Dr. Ann Mulhall szerepében Diana Muldaur-t láthatjuk, aki az ‘Is There in Truth No Beauty?’ című epizódban is visszatér (Miranda Jones), a TNG-ben pedig egy egész évadon keresztül helyettesíti Gates McFadden-t, méghozzá Katherine Pulaski szerepében.

Set in early 1970’s Seattle, McQ tells the story of a police detective out for justice (or revenge) for the killing of his partner. Little does he know that his partner was part of a crime ring. As events unfold we get to see some great old cars, clothes, inappropriate and sexists remarks, and of course Seattle as it looked 40 years ago. Being from Seattle, Bob and I are particularly impressed with knowing the filming locations for most of the shots. Directed by John Sturges and starring John Wayne, Eddie Albert, Diana Muldaur, and many others, it’s a well acted but at times heavy handed and slowly plotted film. There are some great scenes and some scenes that literally put me to sleep! If you’re into old 1970’s cars and fashions or you like the movies of John Sturges, John Wayne or the other actors then give it a watch. Otherwise, you might want to skip this one.
