Why is it sometimes so damn hard to listen to your own voice -- you know, the voice that's telling you that something isn't right, or that something needs to change, and that something needs change NOW... ?  Why do we sometimes ignore the voice inside the most when it starts screaming the loudest? Setting personal and professional boundaries that are both effective and long-lasting can sometimes be SO difficult... And, once they are set in place, it can be even harder to KEEP them there. Whether it be with clients, relatives, close friends, or co-workers - or even business partners, a domestic partner, or a significant other - setting and keeping boundaries that are clear and healthily firm is arguably one the most crucially necessary habits to maintaining the priceless integrity of our mental, physical, and emotional health and well-being.  So when we know it's time to set that boundary in our professional and/or personal lives, how do we overcome the guilt and shame so we can just do what we know is actually the right thing for us? And is selfishness a good thing in this scenario? In this new episode, Danielle and Anianne discuss the very real and tricky dance of setting personal and professional boundaries and more - plus talk about various ways to commit to making and keeping healthy boundaries established in our daily personal and professional lives. Quotes of the week: "You just kinda just need to let go of those feelings - that GUILT - and process it to where you're like, "okay, I feel fine. I've moved on. Overconfidence can oftentimes be the precursor to major disappointment. We believe that our natural abilities in a certain area are so good, that we get the idea in our heads that we cannot fail. And, then, when we do inevitably fail...we wonder if we were any good to begin with. This moment can cause either one of two feelings:  1. Fear: "an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger" or  2. Panic: "a sudden overwhelming fear, with or without cause, that produces hysterical or irrational behavior, and that often spreads quickly". So, when we feel either of these feelings, how do we calm these sudden emotional tides - whether it be at home or in the workplace - so that we can start focusing on the right things, move forward with stronger clarity, and perform to the best of our natural abilities? In this new episode of the BMS podcast, Anianne Rivera and guest host Katie Guthrie discuss their most humbling moments of failure, how they overcame their fear and panic, and how they challenged their comfort zones and broke open the ceilings of their own limitations to reach new levels of success.   Quotes of the week: "People get so stuck on the "wrong thing" that they never launch anything. And even, especially, I feel like it's the wrong thing - because the RIGHT thing they should focus on is outside of their comfort zone and outside their natural ability." - Ani Rivera, Lead Trainer, Director of Education, Natural Beaded Rows™️, Big Money Stylist® "Is any method going to be flawless 100% of the time? No. Because humans are all different. Every client is different. Commitments. They tell us exactly where we're at, and...they tell us exactly where we're not. They are our own personal mirrors that reflect to us our everyday reality for what it is. So, if we want to "see a different reflection" in our own mirrors of commitment - then, what are we willing to do match the desire of a certain result to an unshakeable commitment to achieve it?  In this week's profoundly hard-hitting episode of the BMS podcast, Danielle and Ani discuss the ways in which our commitments (or lack thereof) shape us, how we can overcome self doubt, and how choosing growth over comfort can help us sculpt our reality into the landscape of our wildest, bravest, dreams.  Quotes of the week: "It doesn't matter. you need to commit. *NEW EPISODE* The White’s are back in the studio with a brand new episode of the Date Your Wife podcast, fresh and on point in the style you have come to love! We learn what has been transpiring in their lives since the arrival of baby Isla, what postpartum life is like, why Danielle feels they should show themselves some grace, why Garrett referred to Danielle as Tom Brady the morning after their Anniversary, and much, much more. Every week married couple Danielle and Garrett J White share insights and perspectives from within their own lives regarding the following topics discussed each month: Week 1: Sex Week 2: Money Week 3: Parenting Week 4: Communication In This Week’s Podcast….Sex Point #1: The Miracle  Nearly all parents can agree that the first few days and weeks of having a new baby in the house is a huge adjustment for everyone. This one investment has made all the difference and is what Garrett refers to as a life preserver. What is it? It’s a Snoo. Adds Danielle, “It’s a miracle. You zip the baby in so they can’t wriggle out of their blanket, and it plays white noise while gently rocking them.” QUESTION What gadgets have helped you with your newborn? Point #2: The Meltdown Garrett created the “Don’t Be a Dick While Your Wife is Pregnant” challenge which he managed to pull off up until he fumbled on the second-yard line. “She’s two weeks postpartum and something inside of me snaps. I am obsessed with sex and I get to this angry place.” Danielle: You did the weird thing that makes a woman feel more guilty. Then I had a postpartum meltdown explosion. I was postpartum, mixed with newborn emotions, and my eyes and forehead were weeping in ways they never had. I bawled my eyes out for an hour with a lot of fuck you’s in between. QUESTION What did you experience as a couple during the early postpartum days & weeks? Point #3: The Anniversary After their huge blowout, Danielle knew it was time for them to get back on track doing the things that worked for them in their relationship: this podcast, Date Nights, and Sex. She was beginning to feel more like a woman rather than an “Umpa Loompa” as she put on her makeup, pulled up her Spanx, and went out on a date with Garrett. She also realized that they needed to give themselves some grace. Garrett: We got back on track sexually, and then we had what I’m going to call the Quantum Night, Quantum standing for four – the Cuatro night. It’s in my favorite files. I can put out imagery and live video footage – an hour of it. That was so amazing. That was the best ever! QUESTION What was it that brought you back on track sexually after the births of your babies? Point #4: The Green Light Does the woman initiate? Do they wait for the guy to initiate? What can she do to signal that the doors are open? What should he NEVER do if he wants to initiate sex? Men, if you’re trying to get your wife in the mood and immediately start rubbing or slapping her butt, or go in for the boobs, THAT IS A HUGE TURN OFF! DON’T DO THAT! Instead, come to her and say something like, “Let me rub your shoulders.” This works like a charm for most women. QUESTION What are the Red Lights and Green Lights inside of your sex life? Point #5: Sneak Preview Here’s a sneak preview into the world of the White’s and their respective businesses. Garrett: WARRIOR GREENS – Kitchen-style documentary on the history of Warrior Greens and how they support the conversation of CORE 4 for both men & women. BECOME A KING Series – The seven Pits and Power moves of married businessmen with children. Danielle: Creator of Natural Beaded Rows (NBR), Host of the Big Money Stylist Podcast, Hair Education (NBR & BMS), Hairline (ISLA), Ower of DKW Styling Salon. Go to dkwstying.com to find out more. QUESTION What are you creating in your lives either as a couple or individually? Communication Challenge: Have a conversation about what keeps you on track as a couple. Date Night Topic: Come up with some unique-to-you Green Lights. Quote of the Week: “The game was a little rough. My brake pads were completely exhausted, and I was tearing apart my rotors with no brake pads. I didn’t realize I had run out of runway. All of my will power and “white-knuckling it” was gone. Something shifted in my brain. The baby’s out, the vagina’s open for business, why am I still being rejected?” –Garrett J White “You gotta be the bigger person, ladies.” –Danielle K White betheman.com, dkwstyling.com

Communication is the topic in this week’s Date Your Wife episode where Danielle and Garrett discuss growth, conflict & collision, and how we all take on different characters and play different roles in our relationships. Every week, married couple Danielle and Garrett J White share insights and perspectives from within their own lives regarding the following topics discussed each month: Week 1: Sex Week 2: Money Week 3: Parenting Week 4: Communication In This Week’s Podcast….Communication Point #1: Activate the Gremlin Danielle is the owner of DKW Styling Salon and has created a hair extension system called Natural Beaded Rows. She and her team are basking in the afterglow of their most recent three-day convention, where they hosted 350 students eager to learn Danielle’s system. Garrett: A comment came in from an associate of ours who was at the convention. “You know, Danielle is like a gremlin – cuddly, nice, sweet, and fun. And when you pour a little water on it and out comes the beast. I watched Danielle speak and train as I have never before seen her. Her Gremlin was activated.” QUESTION What causes the Gremlin in you to activate?   Point #2: Characters & Roles Garrett: As human beings, we take on many different roles and characters. Inside of marriage, we are required to create and master a diverse number of them. Danielle:  In business, a true professional knows when to use each character in the different roles they are required to take on. As women, we have to know when to wear the work hat, when to wear the mom hat, and when to wear the wife and lover hat. QUESTION What are the different characters and roles you take on in your marriage? Point #3: Growing At Different Speeds Danielle: When we lost everything, and Garrett was trying to discover himself, I was always telling him, “just figure it out.” He would want to share and connect with me, and when I didn’t want to, he felt I wasn’t growing. I decided I wasn’t going to worry about what Garrett was doing, but instead, work on myself and stay in my own lane. Garrett: We grow at different speeds and at different times. This changes our roles and makes communication difficult. The challenge becomes staying in your own lane. When you’re trying to communicate, and you’re both in two totally different places, it can be challenging. QUESTION How do you handle growing at different speeds within your marriage?   Point #4: Choice vs Force Garrett: I got to the point where my power and my path were going to be about choosing me and choosing the path that I wanted -and inviting Danielle to come along with me. “This is where I’m going. I would like you to come with me, but if you don’t want to come, that’s okay, I’m still going to go.” The more I took that stand, the better our communication became inside of our relationship. Danielle: I felt so much better when it became more about me getting to choose rather than feeling like you were forcing or dragging me. If you go to an event that’s all about self-help or self-awareness, you don’t want to come home to your spouse and say, “By the way, you’re broken, and you should probably come with me and get fixed.”  QUESTION Are you more likely to force or to encourage choice in your relationships? Point #5: The Control Factor Garrett: I’ll have you consider that the worst thing that could ever exist inside of a relationship is where there is no collision in communication. Collision must happen, and inside of that, control must, at times, be surrendered. Danielle: To ultimately get what you want, you have to choose your battles. Sometimes when we’re fighting, and realize we’re on the same team, we let it go, calm it down, and then revisit that conversation at a later time. QUESTION How do you handle collision in your relationship? Communication Challenge: How do you handle and resolve conflict in your marriage? Date Night Topic: What are you committed to as a couple in the area of growth? Quote of the Week: “When you’re growing, and your partner may not be growing at the same speed, you have to stay committed to what you want, move forward, and invite them into the picture.” —Garrett J White “Learn how to communicate with your partner in that safe zone.” —Danielle K White

Danielle and Ani share more WTF salon stories and want to hear your “dude, you gotta hear what happened” stories, the crazier the better. Send them to ani@hairextensionsecret.com For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..PRODUCTION Point #1: What’s the Lesson? No matter what industry you’re in, you’re going to have your share of crazy client stories. Danielle is quick to remind us, “If you have a ton of crazy clients, I want you to consider that you might be the crazy one.” When you do have those crazy clients, step back and ask yourself what you can learn from them or from the situation. Take a look inside your consultation process, ask yourself what you will or won’t tolerate, and look at your policies to see if you need to make an adjustment. QUESTION As you think back to some of your crazy encounters, what lessons did you learn? What have you fine-tuned or changed as a result?   Point #2: From Fucked Up to Fabulous…Over Time When you have a client with really fucked up hair and yet they want an immediate transformation, you’ve got to have some honest and hard conversations with them and share with them a realistic timeline which includes getting their hair to a healthy place along the way. The better the integrity of the natural hair, the more natural the extensions are going to look. When your client’s hair is fried and not in a good place, it needs time to recover. Over time, the look they’re going for will be achieved…and they will thank you for it. QUESTION What has been your experience with this?   Point #3: I’ll Do Anything A lot of artists are SO excited when they get an NBR lead – a $2k service – that they are willing to do ANYTHING. And they’ll take on clients they know they shouldn’t because they’re afraid to have a conversation with them. “I will tell you from personal experience that it will bite you in the ass!” warns Danielle. At the beginning of her career, Danielle would be so stressed out because she thought she had to service everyone…including doing toe waxing. “When you’re seeing a lot of red flags and you’re hitting a ton of resistance, that client may not be right for you. It’s ok. Don’t get so hungry and excited for a lead that, in the long term, could end up costing you more time and stress.” QUESTION Are you a people pleaser, a conflict avoider, or are you just so damn excited to get an NBR client that you’re willing to ignore all the red flags?   Point #4: Can You Be Bought? A salon hopper is someone who hops from salon to salon until they find someone willing to give them what they want, most of the time ending up with fucking shitty-ass hair because, ultimately, they refuse to listen to the recommendations of the artists. In the end, they find an artist willing to give in and compromise their standards. Danielle has learned from personal experience that it’s better to let them go. “We’re in the service industry so people think it’s almost a given that our time can be bought. There are certain people that cannot buy my time. It doesn’t mean I’m a bitch about it or rude, but more matter of fact: I’m a professional, here’s what I’m offering and what I’m willing to do.” QUESTION What are you learning from this conversation?   Point #5: Newsflash Color is SO important! The biggest no-no with extensions in before and after photos when you have one platinum color extension slapped in and it doesn’t match the hair. “We’re not in the 90s, we’re not in the day of Kelly Clarkson. You can no longer mix a dark brown and a platinum blonde. It just doesn’t work.” Coming up in 2020: Look for big conventions with Danielle and Ani and the training team, as well as smaller classes. For Mastermind only, Shadowing is officially opening up at DKW Styling Salon and the team of trainers’ salons as well. To receive all of the exciting news of upcoming events for 2020, go to bigmoneystylist.com and enter in your email. QUESTION What excites you the most about what’s in store for you inside of BMS? Quote of the Week: “Are you a people pleaser or a conflict avoider? I want you to consider that you’re not actually that nice, you’re just avoiding conflict and confrontation with your client. And then in the end, when you end up giving them what they want, it fucks you anyway.” — Danielle K White “Even if the client is sitting your chair, you can still deny them. Just like when people say they wanted to cancel their wedding but it was too late…you can be walking down the aisle and still cancel your wedding because it’s NEVER too late.” —Anianne Rivera

Welcome to this week's Big Money Stylist podcast as the Artists from DKW Styling Salon delve into the topic of Power, more specifically the Power of stories - the stories we create about ourselves and our industry - and how these stories will either derail and fuck us up or lead us into a life that we truly want to live. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week's Episode.....POWER Point #1: Industry Fables Many Artists don't believe in themselves and dutifully execute whatever the Industry has taught them to do. For example, we are taught that you accommodate everyone and everything that walks through the door until you have "arrived," even if it means doing what you don't like doing - which most Artists believe is their only option. This creates the all too prevalent and less than powerful scarcity mindset. There are many stories created about who we are as stylists and what is expected of us. More often than not, we are expected to work six days a week, are thought of as hobbyists and not taken seriously, and for many the belief is widely accepted that people choose hair as a career because they are too fucking stupid for anything else. QUESTION: What are some of the stories you believe that are simply not true, but are widely accepted as true? Point #2: Tell Me a Story The stories that seem to affect us the most are the stories we create about ourselves. Coach Ani describes stories as "a layer of made up bullshit that you tell yourself over and over again." We don't know where they come from, why or how they start, but one day you tell yourself something, decide to fucking stick with it and pretty soon you have allowed that story to shape and define your life. Whether it was breaking an engagement and moving to California, teaching on a stage in front of 300 Artists at a convention, feeling 'worthy' to increase prices, or deciding to stop working Saturday's, each of the ladies have overcome and rewritten their stories, which has enabled them to get out of their own way and create a life they love. QUESTION: Where in your life are you putting off rewriting a story that isn't serving you? Point #3: The Lies we Believe Our stories impact every part of our lives. How many times have you told yourself: I'm not worthy, I'm not good enough, that's for someone else, not me. We get so much inside of our heads that we begin downplaying ourselves and live in a state of victimhood, and in the process we give away all of our power.  Oft times stories are wound up so tightly inside of us that we can begin projecting them onto others until they believe them, too. Garrett repeated the story so often that Danielle didn't want to have sex, that she actually started believing it was true. The voices and the stories inside our head are so much stronger than the truth of what really is. QUESTION: How often do you downplay yourself by telling yourself you're not worthy or you're not good enough? Point #4: Stuff or Stack? We have the ability to make life stressful or beautiful and zen. What do we do to remain in power when we get triggered or when things go south; when we start making stories up about the people and experiences in our lives? How do we handle our feelings rather than stuff them deep inside of us to handle "later?" Coach Ani uses a powerful tool each day called the Stack which is a series of questions designed to move her through these feelings and to see the story from different angles. By the end of her Stack, she has gained clarity, power and solutions. Coach Val is the queen of reframe where she is able to have conversations with herself and see things from many perspectives until  she can find something positive to move her forward instead of staying stuck in a story. QUESTION: When you get triggered what do you do to return to a place of peace and power? Point #5: The Power of Choice is Yours Coach Val: I know it is always my choice. If there is something not going well, I would rather blame myself and come up with a solution than blame anyone else. I can fix me. I can fix my mindset and my mood, and that is so freeing. What is so beautiful to realize is no one has any control over anything you do, except for you. Coach Ani: At the end of the day, everything is up to me: the life I want to live and the choices I make. If I want to live at the beach, that is my choice and I will have to work fucking harder than I ever have. If I don't want to get married, it's my choice. If I choose to get married knowing that something is wrong, that is also my choice. I have the power of choice over everything in my life. And so do you. QUESTION: Where in your life are you playing the victim and blaming others for your circumstances?   Quote of the Week: "You don't have to wait until tomorrow. You don't have to wait until next week or next month. If, in the middle of your day things are not going the way you want them to, take a deep breath, figure out what needs to be changed, and then change it. If you don't change anything, you are going to continue to have the same exact life. If you want something different, do something different. Stand in your power and do that." -- Valerie Plunk "What is it in your life that you don't like? What story have you been telling yourself for so long that you've actually convinced yourself it's true? How can you go about changing it? A the end of the day, your life is yours to lead and no one else's. No one is coming to save you. But you can change you." --Anianne Rivera "My biggest story is that I am not a confrontational person. Confronting people about things that are bothering me is still hard for me. But every time I jump over that hurdle and handle things, I feel more powerful and have more confidence in myself and my abilities. I find that I also have more respect for myself when I stand in my power. --McKenzi Davis     Stay Tuned for Next Week's Topic....PRODUCTION

The BMS Crew is a bit sparse in this week's episode but no less fierce as Coach Ani and Val tacks the topic of Profit. This is where you are reaping the benefits of the power and production that you've put into your business. In this case with Ani and Val, it's in the salon as NBR Trainers for DKW Salon, but can definitely apply beyond the hair industry. For Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection   In This Week's Episode.....PROFIT Point #1: Profit Defined Profit means different things to different people. Monetary is the most obvious answer. The money you see from the work that you are putting in. At the end of the day it's about reaping the benefits of all the hard work, time, and energy that was put into something. It is a reflection of everything that you did. Many Artists will say I'm working hard but my account isn't reflecting the 12 hour days, 6 days a week, the exhaustion, the time away from family. At that point you have to figure out what that missing component is because the is profit isn't there.   QUESTION: How do you define profit in your life?   Point #2: Numbers Bring Clarity Val didn't give a shit about numbers because it stressed her out. She would use the excuse of "I'm an artist" to not hold herself accountable. Many artists like to operate in the space of "I'm free, I'm an artist." and because of that they tend to think numbers aren't important. The numbers tell you a story of where you're really at and many people are not ready to face that reality. Anianne has always loved numbers. She has her numbers written by month since 2013. The numbers showed her that the business decisions she was making were paying off, working less but making more money. That gave her the push to continue to make hard business moves.   QUESTION: Have you taken a hard look at your numbers recently, or are you making excuses to avoid them?   Point #3: Abundance vs. Scarcity Val would see someone who was successful, actresses, singers, etc, and think they got an inheritance or they had an "in" somewhere. She didn't realize how much hard work goes into other industries and craft. She grew up in a modest household and assumed that is how she was meant to live, not realizing she could get to another stage in her life.  Scarcity is that you don't have enough of something. It comes with a sense of fear. Abundance from an artist standpoint is not servicing every client. It is having enough leads coming in that you are doing QUALITY clients, the right kind of client for you. Once Anianne stopped feeling desperate and left the place of scarcity she was able to stop working 6 days a week, eventually cutting it in half and only working 3 days a week.  She no longer came from a place of panic.   QUESTION: Where in your life are you living in abundance and scarcity?   Point #4: Your Mental Mindshift Once Val left scarcity she wouldn't put up with the same bullshit. Clients coming in and telling her what to do, having an attitude, was no longer accepted. She knew she had the marketing tools underneath her belt to get another client  so she doesn't have to put up with it. Now everyone that sits in her chair is someone that wants to be there and trusts her in her craft. Everyone gets the amazing experience. Marketing puts the perfect client in your chair. Anianne bent over backwards for clients when she was living in scarcity. Even to the point of having to wear long sleeves to cover up her tattoos. She was making herself miserable by catering to them in fear of losing them if she didn't. Now coming from a place of abundance she is able to attract clients that she vibes and gels with. Scarcity doesn't exist inside DKW Styling Salon because the constant marketing is bringing new leads in everyday.   QUESTION: How would your life be different if you went from operating in scarcity to abundance ?   Point #5: Profit isn't just money Although both Anianne and Val have received profit in the form of money, that is not the way it has shown up in their lives. The income Val sees is great but really the freedom is the biggest result. The ability to have quality time with her kids and husband, go on vacations, and do fun things together. That is what makes everything worth it for Val.  Although Anianne was making great money in Missouri she wasn't happy there. The clients and 12 hours days were draining her mentally, emotionally, and physically. It was making her miserable. BMS showed her a new way of life and having the ability to move to California has been the biggest form of profit that Anianne has seen. It's always been a dream to live by the beach and now that is a reality.   QUESTION: In what other ways do you see profit in your life?   Quote of the Week: "The system works, I'm here to say that as living proof. I'm grateful for it. I'm excited to see where it goes for DKW, BMS and for all our current and future students. I'm excited for them to get a taste of this. " -- Valerie Plunk "I went from making 4k a month to over 20k a month in barely over a year. Garrett would say jump, I'd say how high? I'd think he lost he damn mind but I did it anyway. That's why I believe in [BMS] so much... it has changed my life so drastically. " --Anianne Rivera     Stay Tuned for Next Week's Topic....PROTECTION   http://bigmoneystylistnow.com
