In this message we learn that following Jesus requires us to let go of our script for success. Matthew 16:21-26 Series Description: It's not uncommon to let the values of our culture define what it means to be a successful follower of Jesus. But busying ourselves with the work of God and endless striving for goodness doesn't mean fulfillment. So how does Jesus define success? What if we shifted our mindset from following the world's idea of success to Jesus' teachings of how we are meant to come alive with him. Jesus invites us to thrive by abiding with him and simply enjoying the presence of God throughout our lives. It's from his presence that all good things flow. This series is based on the book Emotionally Healthy Discipleship by Peter Scazzaro. --- We meet every Sunday at 10am in Mahomet. Hello and welcome to the Health Upgrade Podcast!I am honored to have this wonderful conversation with the master of HRV - heart rate variability, Greg Elliot. Greg is an exercise physiologist, kinesiologist and osteopathic practitioner who has worked with various hospitals, universities, clinics, fitness facilities and sports teams in Canada, the USA and around the world. He completed his Master of Science in Exercise Science at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and is passionate about teaching and learning about latest improvements in the field of exercise science, active rehab and manual therapy. In today's episode we will have a very significant discussion on heart rate variability. The HRV is a measurement tool that we use to check how our vagus nerve and other autonomic nerves are functioning. We will talk about the multiple ways of measuring heart rate variability and how we can contextualize and utilize the HRV data to positively impact our overall health specially for people that have various chronic conditions and chronic diseases. We will also touch into incorporating vagus nerve stimulation on heart rate variability. When the vagus nerve is stimulated there is an increase of parasympathetic, reducing inflammation through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway which then increases the complexity of HRV.Contact info:Navaz HabibEmail: podcast@healthupgraded.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrNavazHabib/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drnavazhabib/LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/drnavazhabibJP ErricoLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jp-errico-097629aawebsite: www.jperrico.com Greg Elliothttps://elitehrv.com/academy/foundations-of-hrv

Fewer creative people love sports, but when they do, it's because they can sense so much going on under the surface. That's why I feel so strongly that benching Greg Elliott means this Pitt Hoops season is over.
Jeff Capel ruined the Pitt team chemistry irreparably by deciding to bench Greg Elliott down the stretch. This Pitt team won't win anything without Elliott, and Jeff Capel should be fired after the season.

Greg Elliott is helping the American Friends Service Committee to launch a program, innovated by Unitarian-Universalists, and adapted to Quakers to help avoid the burn-out & lack of results which result from un-centered, though well-motivated, activism. With an approach that ties together spirit & action, using worship, story-telling, & deepening relationships, we are helped to remember the ways in which we can be faithful to our work of world-healing, without giving in to a exhausting and unfocused treadmill.
