It's an April scramble, we're celebrating the birth of a few friends of the show, and it's two months exactly till the big performance - sister/co-host Kerry finally appears, BF Barry in the background. This week on Outlook we're talking getting sick/on our own and together, VoiceOver gestures, and kidneys on the mind. Kerry can't handle the germs, brother/co-host Brian reflects on his first kidney transplant surgery day from our mom (April 6, 1999), and poor Oyster the guide dog is recouping. Brian shares about his band's first show coming up (Supply and Demand), King Orca, and we're all already planning details of the evening. We're remembering braille on cassette tapes and Kerry is brought back to 1996 through Cup of Soup. Kerry holds onto her fear that Canadian/Ontario hospitals and the healthcare system won't be functioning like she's used to as she and Barry both tell the story of an up close encounter with the NHS (National Health Service). I'll look out for you and you look out for me. Compassion osioeorhcpijsie … religion … oauelkwjnfvljelijr as Kerry cuts out, Brian tries to rain things in (April showers) and scrambles to end the show - Canadian flurries and a blur of Easter Monday into Easter Tuesday. As this episode is being shared as a podcast in early June, Brian's band King Orca's show is coming up on Saturday 6 June at Supply and Demand Pizza and Beer in London. Doors 8 PM. Would love to see you there if you're in the area. You can listen to a couple of their songs here: https://kingorca.bandcamp.com/album/the-ceramicist

Today's Reading: Luke 24:36-49Daily Lectionary: Exodus 15:19-16:12; Hebrews 10:1-18“As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, ‘Peace to you!'”  (Luke 24:36)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.See Jesus. When your anxieties and doubts fill your mind. When you feel your best isn't good enough, or you're at your worst. When you know you've said hurtful things, done hurt to others, and caused yourself harm. See Jesus.Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners, talked with adulterers, healed the sick and the unclean, and associated with those unassociated members of society. Jesus called ordinary fishermen to be His disciples and taught them despite their unbelief and designs for the kingdom of God.For those disciples, Jesus appeared and stood among them. What they had done had to come to mind. They abandoned Him, betrayed Him, denied Him, witnessed His death and shame before the world as He hung on the cross. Yet they see Jesus Himself, among them, and He said to them, “Peace to you!”Then Jesus shows them His hands and His feet, inviting them to touch Him. As if a ghost stood before them to haunt them, He asks them for something to eat and ate the broiled fish they offered Him. What the women from the tomb and the men from Emmaus had said was true. He has risen!Their master stood among them. Proclaiming peace, Absolution— they were forgiven before God and man. Then Jesus opened their minds to understand all that the scriptures had written from the Law of Moses, the prophets, and the Psalms. Jesus, the crucified, fulfilled them; Jesus, the resurrected, fulfilled and proclaimed this to them, and now they, His preachers, would go and proclaim this truth to you. That you would know in your darkness, your suffering, your time of death, God is with you. See Jesus in His Word, in your Baptism, in bread and wine. These are where He comes to you, stands among you, and through your pastor proclaims, “Peace to you!” before God and man.Christ is risen indeed, Alleluia! He sees you, is with you, and has secured peace for you, and has proclaimed this to you in His Gospel promises, that trusting in Jesus, you may come at last to the Kingdom of your heavenly Father, and see Jesus. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Almighty God, through the resurrection of Your Son You have secured peace for our troubled consciences. Grant us this peace evermore that trusting in the merit of Your Son we may come at last to the perfect peace of heaven; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Then it's Part Two of Colt Curd's Chocolate Easter Bunny Caper, as our Dairy Detective follows the cocoa‑crumb trail deeper into the mystery. From there, we ride straight into Buck Rawlins' Easter Gravy Boat Redemption, a small‑town tale of second chances, stubborn pride, and the kind of holiday grace that sneaks up on a man. The theme keeps weaving as Will steps into Word Wrangling With Will, resurrecting three retired words and giving 'em a little frontier shine before they trot back into polite society.A bit of banter with Chance follows—light, springy, and just crooked enough to keep you grinning—before the whole Den eases into a snazzy  Western Swing number about Snowball critters helping the Easter Bunny on his rounds. It's cozy Americana, mythic Western storytelling, and old‑time radio charm all braided together for a gentle, good‑humored Easter Tuesday ride.

Happy Easter! On this Tuesday of the Easter Octave, Fr. Jonathan Meyer reflects on the question Mary Magdalene asked at the empty tomb: “Where have they taken my Lord?”   Sharing his personal encounter with the Eucharistic presence of Jesus, Fr. Meyer recounts the powerful moment that reoriented his life—when he discovered the Real Presence in the tabernacle for the first time.   In a world that often forgets or hides the Lord, this is a call to rediscover Him, especially in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus is not lost—He is waiting for us in every tabernacle, every Mass, every adoration chapel.   Take a moment today. Make a visit. Find Jesus. And be transformed.   ✝️ He is risen! Alleluia!

April 22, 2025Today's Reading: Luke 24:36-49Daily Lectionary: Exodus 15:19-16:12; Hebrews 10:1-18“See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” (Luke 24:39)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! Alleluia! Amen. In the Third Article of the Apostle's Creed, we confess that we believe in the resurrection of the dead. It is a confession that has deep implications in our lives as children of God. When we confess the resurrection of the dead, we are saying that death is conquered. We are saying that in our bodies, in our flesh, we will come from the dead. We will not be spirits, we will not be ghosts, we will not be angels— we will be human beings in the flesh. In the resurrection of Christ, we are given what will happen to us in the resurrection. The language of the narratives from the Gospels give witness to what the disciples and followers of Jesus saw after His resurrection. They saw Jesus. They heard Jesus. They touched Jesus. Yes, touched Jesus. He was not a ghost or some anomaly from the proverbial spirit world. He was fully human. He was alive and breathing, eating and drinking as humans do every day. He completely rose from the dead.Oftentimes, we hear about life everlasting in some existential context. Life everlasting is taught as something that is “way out there.” We cannot grasp it, so it is taught like fairytales and make-believe stories. Life everlasting becomes supernatural, where the dead end up as ghosts or angels. We are to believe that eternal life is really an experience in nirvana, where we do not have bodies and that we become one with the universe. All of these false teachings take us away from the Scriptures and what we confess in our creeds. We believe, teach, confess, and practice that on the Last Day, we will rise from the dead in our flesh. We will be able to see, taste, touch, smell, and hear. We will walk again upon a restored earth. No longer will there be death. In Christ's resurrection is our resurrection. In Christ's resurrection is your resurrection. Death is conquered. Death is destroyed. Right now, you have eternal life. Jesus invites His followers to touch Him after the resurrection. He is in the flesh, resurrected from the dead. When you confess, “I believe in the resurrection of the dead.” you confess that you will rise from the dead as Christ rose from the dead. In the flesh. He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! Alleluia! Amen.In the Name + of Jesus. Now whilst they were speaking these things, Jesus stood in the midst of them, and saith to them: Peace be to you; it is I, fear not.Dum autem haec loquuntur, stetit Jesus in medio eorum, et dicit eis : Pax vobis : ego sum, nolite timere.  37 But they being troubled and frightened, supposed that they saw a spirit.Conturbati vero et conterriti, existimabant se spiritum videre.  38 And he said to them: Why are you troubled, and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?Et dixit eis : Quid turbati estis, et cogitationes ascendunt in corda vestra?  39 See my hands and feet, that it is I myself; handle, and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me to have.videte manus meas, et pedes, quia ego ipse sum; palpate et videte, quia spiritus carnem et ossa non habet, sicut me videtis habere.  40 And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and feet.Et cum hoc dixisset, ostendit eis manus et pedes.  41 But while they yet believed not, and wondered for joy, he said: Have you any thing to eat?Adhuc autem illis non credentibus, et mirantibus prae gaudio, dixit : Habetis hic aliquid quod manducetur?  42 And they offered him a piece of a broiled fish, and a honeycomb. At illi obtulerunt ei partem piscis assi et favum mellis.  43 And when he had eaten before them, taking the remains, he gave to them.Et cum manducasset coram eis, sumens reliquias dedit eis.  44 And he said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.Et dixit ad eos : Haec sunt verba quae locutus sum ad vos cum adhuc essem vobiscum, quoniam necesse est impleri omnia quae scripta sunt in lege Moysi, et prophetis, et Psalmis de me.  45 Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.Tunc aperuit illis sensum ut intelligerent Scripturas,  46 And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead, the third day:et dixit eis : Quoniam sic scriptum est, et sic oportebat Christum pati, et resurgere a mortuis tertia die :  47 And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.et praedicari in nomine ejus poenitentiam, et remissionem peccatorum in omnes gentes, incipientibus ab Jerosolyma.
