In this episode of Exploring A Course in Miracles podcast, Robert & Emily Perry dive into one of the Course's most essential—and most misunderstood—figures: the Holy Spirit. You will learn: Who is the Holy Spirit? What is His relationship to God, Jesus, and us? Is He just a symbol… or a real Being with a divine mission? What is His role? How can we hear the Holy Spirit more clearly? We hope you'll join in for an illuminating conversation about the Holy Spirit and how A Course in Miracles says He can lead you back to God. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Palm Sunday: Lessons from A Course in Miracles

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week—a time that many of us remember with tradition and reverence. In the Gospel story, Jesus enters Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna!” as palm branches are laid at his feet. But A Course in Miracles invites us to see this moment in a new light—not just as the beginning of Jesus' final days, but as the beginning of everyone's spiritual journey home to God. In this message, Robert Perry explores what Holy Week means through the lens of the Course. Rather than focusing on death and sacrifice, the Course shifts the message to forgiveness, innocence, and resurrection—not only for Jesus, but for each one of us… and especially for the people standing right beside us. What if the people in your life—yes, even the difficult ones—are walking their own sacred path to resurrection? What if you could either delay or speed their journey by the way you see and treat them? And what if, in offering them lilies instead of thorns, you were saving yourself as well? ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Have you ever felt like you're standing at a distance from your spiritual path—disengaged, resigned, or quietly doubting whether you're really up to the task? In this Sunday Gathering sermon, Robert Perry explores one of the most beloved prayers in A Course in Miracles—the “Accepting the Atonement” prayer—and the powerful story behind it. Originally given to Bill Thetford as a direct response to his own disengagement from the Course, this prayer speaks to the passive ways we hold ourselves back from healing, love, and the return to God. Drawing from rarely discussed guidance in the Course and newly uncovered context, Robert shows how Jesus lovingly called Bill out of his withdrawal and into full engagement with the path – and how he invites us to do the same. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. For many spiritual seekers, A Course in Miracles and the Bible seem like two completely different paths. And yet, the Course references the Bible more than anything else—with nearly 900 biblical quotes and allusions throughout its 2,000 pages. So what does the Course actually say about the Bible? How does it affirm, reinterpret, or even correct biblical teachings? And what does this mean for students of the Course today? In this episode of Exploring A Course in Miracles, Emily and Robert dive deep into: How the Course grants authority to the Bible—especially the Gospels Why Jesus urges students to read the Bible and examine his credentials The Course's reinterpretation of key biblical passages (e.g., “Vengeance is Mine,” “God is not mocked”) How Jesus reframes the meaning of his crucifixion and resurrection The bigger picture: how the Course aims to recover the Bible's true message of love  Whether you've struggled with the relationship between A Course in Miracles and the Bible or you're just curious to learn more, this conversation is one of the most important we've ever had. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. In this message, you'll discover how Thurman's insights illuminate Jesus as a figure of liberation for the oppressed, offering a path from fear, deceit, and hate to faith, integrity, and love. You'll also learn the ways Thurman's wisdom overlaps with the teachings of A Course in Miracles, particularly in its call to transcend inner darkness with love and forgiveness as a force for personal and collective transformation. Many have come upon the comments about homosexuality after miracle principle 18 in the Complete and Annotated Edition of A Course in Miracles (CE) and have been turned off, thinking this is the same old prejudiced rhetoric. But what do these paragraphs really say? In this episode, Robert and Emily explore that question in detail, discussing the Course's consistent affirmation of the holiness, equality, and worth of all. In addition, they discuss the suffering caused when one's scripture says a person is condemned by God for their sexual orientation and how the Course offers a healing of this harmful worldview. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. When it comes to A Course in Miracles, one thing students are always asking is, “How do I make the Course practical?” A Course in Miracles, however, is full of practical instructions. The Course aims to enclose our day in different forms of practice in order “to make the day as happy for you as God wants it to be” and even to make “the business of the day…holy.” In this episode, Robert and Emily take a brief tour through the many ways in which the Course instructs us to live its teaching. They do so in the form of a colorful "Walking the Path" diagram which captures both how to live the Course and what it's asking us to do each day. Amidst all of life's chaos, we find ourselves hoping that someone up there has got a plan—a plan for our lives, a plan for our world. It's hard to shake this hope, even when we don't believe in God. At the same time, the notion of God's plan comes with a lot of baggage for fear of what it will ask of us. In this episode, Robert and Emily explore the concept of God's plan as it appears in A Course in Miracles. In the Course, God's plan runs all the way from the most general—what will bring everyone home to God—to the most specific—what we should do in the next hour. And at every point, God's plan contrasts with our plans for what will make us happy. If you have wanted to understand God's plan and if you've wanted a new perspective on it, this is an episode you won't want to miss. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Haven't we all wondered if we were put on earth for a reason, to accomplish some unknown mission? Perhaps Walt Whitman was right when he said, “That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse”? This notion, however, raises so many questions: Do we even have a purpose or is life merely random? If we do have one, how do we find out what it is? How do we prepare for it? And once in it, how do we deal with practical issues like money? In this episode, Robert and Emily share the Course's teaching on life purpose, which it calls our special function. They share the Course's answers to practical questions on this topic, along with some of their own experience being called to fulfill a function that was different than either one had planned, yet in the end was far more rewarding. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. In this episode, Robert and Emily present a general overview the distinctions between nondual teachings and A Course in Miracles. Topics covered include fundamental differences related to "self vs. no self", the nature of God, the idea of whether A Course in Miracles uses dualistic language to lead us to a nondual truth, what the Course specifically says about personhood, relationship to others, free will, and more. The crucifixion is the main event in Christianity. Christians generally view Jesus' death as a payment for our sins so that God will forgive us and we can go to Heaven. Increasingly, however, this is leading to a "crisis of faith" where many who sincerely love Jesus can't reconcile him with a God who enacts revenge and violence. How could a loving God murder His own Son? Not surprisingly, A Course in Miracles has an entirely different view of Jesus' crucifixion. Indeed, rather than seeing the sacrifice and suffering associated with the cross as symbolic of the way OUT of the ego, the Course sees it as symbolic OF the ego—what the ego does to us. And, in the end, the Course offers a completely new reframe of the crucifixion and a way to model the best of Jesus' teaching without getting caught in the worst of religion. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. A man she had counseled had developed feelings for her, and now she faced the quandary of what to do. She first received guidance and then wrote him a long letter, a letter which appears to have been inspired from a higher source. From Scarcity to Abundance

Exploring A Course in Miracles

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 4, 2023 59:23

In this episode, Robert and Emily Perry explore the profound shift from scarcity to abundance as viewed through the lens of A Course in Miracles. They begin with the conventional understanding of a “scarcity mindset”—that there is not enough to go around—and then contrast that with the Course's very different view of the “scarcity fallacy.” That fallacy is the belief that we are fundamentally lacking, and this results in an endless quest to fill the inner void, in many, many ways. But we just end up reinforcing the reality of that inner emptiness. Robert and Emily then delve into the solution, which is to identify with our abundance—the completeness of our true being. Once we identify with this abundance, our lives are no longer about getting, but about giving, because when we are in touch with our abundance, our normal needs fall away, and the only need we have is to give. The Course says, “From your grandeur you can only bless, because your grandeur is your abundance.” Giving from abundance, then, becomes the foundation for a new relationship with the world, one that transcends scarcity and leads to a life of genuine, heartfelt generosity. We hope you'll join us in this illuminating discussion about the journey from scarcity to abundance in the context of A Course in Miracles.  #spiritualawakening #spiritualpath #spiritualprocess ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Safety is a central issue for all of us. It's remarkable how much of our time and energy goes into keeping ourselves safe. The problem, according to A Course in Miracles, is that our attempts to make ourselves safe backfire. The Course describes a process whereby ordinary, “innocent” self-defense ends up causing us to expect attack—and thereby feel unsafe. And it lays out a way to safety that would never occur to us and that we have most likely never heard, yet that makes a great deal of sense.
