In this week's episode, Emily Perry interviews her beautiful spiritual teacher and friend Osheta Moore for a powerful conversation on living Jesus' love ethic in a divided world. Emily and Osheta explore how practicing love, compassion, and radical kindness can heal our relationships and communities. They also dive into the concept of Shalom—God's vision for the world, where everything is healed and whole—and how it aligns with the Course's teachings on being an embodiment of God's love in all spaces. Osheta also shares her inspiring vision of modern beloved community, a vision that mirrors the Course's call to unity, forgiveness, and recognizing the divine in everyone without exception. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. In this Sunday Gathering sermon, Emily Perry shares tools and principles from nonviolent civil rights protests of the 1950s and 60s and discusses the relevance for students of A Course in Miracles today. From Martin Luther King's teachings to the inspirational stories of civil rights leaders like John Lewis and Carolyn McKinstry, Emily reminds us how love and forgiveness can overcome even the darkest of evils and remake our world.

In this special book club episode, guest host Diana Oestreich speaks with author Osheta Moore on her book Dear White Peacemakers. "Dear White Peacemakers is a breakup letter to division, a love letter to God's beloved community, and an eviction notice to the violent powers that have sustained racism for centuries. Race is one of the hardest topics to discuss in America. Many white Christians avoid talking about it altogether. But a commitment to peacemaking requires white people to step out of their comfort and privilege and into the work of anti-racism. Dear White Peacemakers is an invitation to white Christians to come to the table and join this hard work and holy calling. Rooted in the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus, this book is a challenging call to transform white shame, fragility, saviorism, and privilege, in order to work together to build the Beloved Community as anti-racism peacemakers. Written in the wake of George Floyd's death, Dear White Peacemakers draws on the Sermon on the Mount, Spirituals, and personal stories from author Osheta Moore's work as a pastor in St. Paul, Minnesota. Enter into this story of shalom and join in the urgent work of anti-racism peacemaking." In this episode, Osheta and Jon share personal stories that led them to care so deeply about peace in the public square. Offering a brief overview of the history of Christian engagement in politics, and critiquing our tendency toward nationalism or apolitical withdrawal, Jon outlines a framework for engaging politics as kingdom citizens. Inviting us into her experience as a Black woman who is directly impacted by broken policies, Osheta shares why it's important to understand the role of power, generational trauma and “rest as resistance” for those on the margins in pursuit of peace. She tells her story as a former Christian Nationalist and Apolitical Anabaptist that led her to embracing Contemplative Activism as her guide to following Jesus in politics. Osheta Moore paints a picture of what Jesus might really mean when he foretells the separating of the sheep from the goats in Matthew 25
Politics and Peace. In the midst of today's violent political rhetoric, the weight of oppressive systems crushing those on the margins, and family holidays becoming more complex to navigate, it's hard to imagine how politics and peace have any connection. We think they do, so much so that we are committing an entire podcast season to it. As we enter the midterm elections, we're thrilled to announce that the next season of the Everyday Peacemaking podcast will focus entirely on Peace and Politics, exploring how we become Everyday Peacemakers in and outside of the voting booth. Friends, politics doesn't have to be such a scary word. It can simply be defined as the “ordering of society.” Every society has to make decisions about how we order ourselves. Everything is political, so we're going to talk about it. This season, we are going to have the conversations that equip us to leverage our votes for the benefit of those on the underside of our broken systems. We are also going to have the conversations that free us up to have hard and healing conversations with family and friends who might think differently than we do. Co-hosted by writer, speaker and peacemaker Osheta Moore, and our co-founding director, Jon Huckins, this season will be filled with dynamic interviews (with amazing guests each week!) and tangible practices that help us mend divides this election season. We hope you'll join us on the Everyday Peacemaking podcast for this season. Episodes will be released starting mid-September. Music from Epidemic Sound: We Are Giants by Silver Maple

In this episode, author and spiritual director, Osheta Moore, joins the show to talk about the ways she has come to embrace the Anabaptist theological traditions of peacemaking, nonviolence, and belovedness. Osheta shares the ways she has to navigate the intersections of being an African American woman and an Anabaptist, and how Jesus, Howard Thurman, and other important figures have guided her way.
Osheta Moore joins Shawna Boren and Dan Kent as they break down Osheta's sermon called "The Liturgy of Abundance." Osheta looks at how the world creates a scarcity mindset that competes with the abundance mindset of the Kingdom of God.
Scarcity drives common daily experiences in our world, yet God invites us to trust his ability to abundantly provide. In this sermon, Osheta Moore offers us a liturgy of abundance so that we can embrace God's abundance in the midst of scarcity.

Rachel and Tracy cozy up for a morning coffee (and smoothie) with Colorado resident Kelsey Hargadine as she details how she began her lifelong calling into the heart of Uganda and how, with the help of relationships, we all have a zealous YES that we can step into. Kelsey discusses practical steps to listen and eliminate the noise and distractions in our lives and how, in doing so, we are intentional in what we let into our minds and clear the way to be actively hearing from God. Tracy and Rachel ask on behalf of a “friend” and the “friend's friend” specific noise “the friend” should eliminate to hear better. Kelsey also presents the topic of failure and how paramount failure is to growth, exploring how her roundabout move to Singapore taught this valuable lesson. In the end, Kelsey talks about her upcoming book she is writing and encourages everyone into relationships because God made us to be relational and even though relationships can be messy, they are always worth it. Rachel & Tracy both ask Kelsey about her first impression of Sioux Falls, and to no one's surprise she confirms that it is (sigh) very cold. In this bonus episode, we hear a sermon preached at The Well on Sunday, November 21st that wrapped up a series on the book of Ephesians. In this message, we unpack the Armor of God... the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness or justice, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. What if this passage isn't just about spiritual warfare, but about fighting the systems of our world that often go unchallenged, un-critiqued, and often silence those on the margins? How do we bring God's Kingdom in the midst of such overwhelming obstacles? In this episode, the book Dear White Peacemakers by Osheta Moore is quoted. You can find this book HERE. Enjoy!
Peace might not be as simple as you think. How might our lives change if peace was a more dynamic and complicated idea? If we explore how and when it is used in the Bible...and the context of some of the passages in which it is used...we might see that it has an amazing amount to teach us about God and about what it means to be human. In this episode, we read from Dear White Peacemakers by Osheta Moore: https://osheta.com/dear-white-peacemakers/ Enjoy the episode. Deconstructing the Bible is going to take a little break. We will be back with a new season at the beginning of February.

When you sit down to write, do you envision your reader? If you close your eyes, can you see their face or know their concerns? If so, you're off to a great start when it comes to getting other people to read your words! The writer's work is to connect the words you have to share with the reader you have to serve, and there's not just one way to do it. In this episode, host Clarissa Moll talks about how to shape your words to reach your reader, how to welcome them into your story, how to help them feel heard and known. She shares a three-step process to help you roll out the welcome mat and make your reader feel at home. Hannah Lee (MA, MSW) is a therapist and mom of a 2-year-old boy. Today, we talk about how motherhood has broken each of us down in hard and good ways, navigating conflict and finding healing within each of our interracial marriages, learning from Mary (Jesus's mom) and her reflections, mindfulness in parenting, and the scripture passages from Episode 6 Part A, a 10-minute guided meditation on passages from Ezekiel and Luke. What does it look like to not judge our own hardened hearts, but to have self-compassion and offer our hearts to God for healing and refreshment? It's a joy to learn from Hannah's insights as she shares valuable wisdom from her personal and professional experiences, interwoven with her strong sense of faith and love. Hannah holds master's degrees in both Crosscultural Studies and Social Work. She's a co-host on Erasing Shame, a podcast at the intersection of mental health and the Asian American experience. In this episode I am joined by Kevin Miller and Robyn Henderson-Espinoza to discuss the documentary film J.E.S.U.S.A. J.E.S.U.S.A. is an in-depth exploration of the relationship between Christianity and American nationalism and the violence that can often emerge from it. Far from a new phenomenon, this documentary traces the co-opting of Christianity by the state all the way back to when the Christian faith became the official religion of the Roman Empire. Through interviews with a diverse group of scholars, pastors, historians, and activists, this film shows how specific readings of the Bible have led many Christians to confuse their devotion to Jesus with their dedication to the state. The film helps viewers rediscover and restore long-held Christian beliefs regarding nonviolence, inspiring Christians to become purveyors of peace rather than enablers of conflict and violence. If you wish to help organize a showing for your church or organization, please contact the production team here. The film includes some amazing people like David Bentley Hart, Suzanne Ross, Brian Zahnd, Osheta Moore, Diana Butler Bass, Greg Boyd, and many more. In this third sermon in our Non-Perishable series, guest speaker Osheta Moore shares how anxiety and fear surrounding death can be overcome through looking to Christ, who shared in our death.
Conflict is the "elephant in the room" of all relationships - we either want to ignore it or focus completely on it. Yet as Kingdom people, how do we deal with conflict in ways that reflect Christ on the cross? In the fourth week of our series, "Next Level Relationships," Osheta Moore shows us how to tell better stories about those who seem like our enemies, while seeing each other as fellow image-bearers of God, and never enemies.
