In A Course in Miracles, Jesus invites us to think beyond his personal resurrection and even beyond our own — to a third and even greater vision: the resurrection of the entire world. In this message from a recent Sunday Gathering, Emily Perry explores Section 28 of the Manual for Teachers, What Is the Resurrection?, where Jesus describes a future where everyone — every living heart — awakens, forgives, and returns home to God together. You'll learn what the resurrected world looks like, how we know we're making progress toward it, and how our individual commitment to healing and forgiveness helps speed its arrival. Along the way, Emily reflects on the lives of moral pioneers like Benjamin Lay, ACIM co-scribe Bill Thetford, and the heroes of the Montgomery Bus Boycott — those who stood for a new world long before it became visible to others. Like them, and like Jesus himself, we are called to be early voices of the healed world. If we devote ourselves to forgiveness and love, we can shorten the time it takes for everyone to get home. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Palm Sunday: Lessons from A Course in Miracles

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 18, 2025 26:47

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week—a time that many of us remember with tradition and reverence. In the Gospel story, Jesus enters Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna!” as palm branches are laid at his feet. But A Course in Miracles invites us to see this moment in a new light—not just as the beginning of Jesus' final days, but as the beginning of everyone's spiritual journey home to God. In this message, Robert Perry explores what Holy Week means through the lens of the Course. Rather than focusing on death and sacrifice, the Course shifts the message to forgiveness, innocence, and resurrection—not only for Jesus, but for each one of us… and especially for the people standing right beside us. What if the people in your life—yes, even the difficult ones—are walking their own sacred path to resurrection? What if you could either delay or speed their journey by the way you see and treat them? And what if, in offering them lilies instead of thorns, you were saving yourself as well? ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Have you ever felt like you're standing at a distance from your spiritual path—disengaged, resigned, or quietly doubting whether you're really up to the task? In this Sunday Gathering sermon, Robert Perry explores one of the most beloved prayers in A Course in Miracles—the “Accepting the Atonement” prayer—and the powerful story behind it. Originally given to Bill Thetford as a direct response to his own disengagement from the Course, this prayer speaks to the passive ways we hold ourselves back from healing, love, and the return to God. Drawing from rarely discussed guidance in the Course and newly uncovered context, Robert shows how Jesus lovingly called Bill out of his withdrawal and into full engagement with the path – and how he invites us to do the same. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Through practical insights and personal stories, we'll look at: • How conventional views of anger shape our thinking • What the Course teaches about the roots of anger • A 3-step healing process for transforming anger into love • Why miracle-mindedness—not rage—is our true source of strength If you're feeling the darkness of our time and longing to be a light within it, this message is for you. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. For many spiritual seekers, A Course in Miracles and the Bible seem like two completely different paths. And yet, the Course references the Bible more than anything else—with nearly 900 biblical quotes and allusions throughout its 2,000 pages. So what does the Course actually say about the Bible? How does it affirm, reinterpret, or even correct biblical teachings? And what does this mean for students of the Course today? In this episode of Exploring A Course in Miracles, Emily and Robert dive deep into: How the Course grants authority to the Bible—especially the Gospels Why Jesus urges students to read the Bible and examine his credentials The Course's reinterpretation of key biblical passages (e.g., “Vengeance is Mine,” “God is not mocked”) How Jesus reframes the meaning of his crucifixion and resurrection The bigger picture: how the Course aims to recover the Bible's true message of love  Whether you've struggled with the relationship between A Course in Miracles and the Bible or you're just curious to learn more, this conversation is one of the most important we've ever had. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. In this episode, Emily and Robert Perry from the Circle of Atonement reflect on what they learned from their recent 28-Day Relationship Challenge. This challenge, hosted for the members of the Circle's Course Companions community, focused on applying the ten characteristics of a spiritually advanced teacher of God from the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles to transform relationships.  The challenge was inspired by the realization that when we want change in our relationships, we often focus on changing others rather than ourselves. Emily and Robert took on the task of embodying the Course's definition of a spiritually advanced teacher for 30 days, trusting the Course's methods and principles and letting go of the usual impulse to control.  Here, they share insights on how characteristics like trust, tolerance, gentleness, defenselessness, patience, and generosity can deeply impact how we show up in relationships. They discuss the challenges and rewards of applying these traits, such as how embracing defenselessness can bring peace to difficult situations or how practicing patience stems from trusting that the outcome is certain. Tune in for a deep dive into how these profound teachings can transform your relationships and lead to the ultimate goal of the A Course in Miracles curriculum: forgiveness.  Want to try the 28-Day Relationship Challenge yourself? The replays and handouts from the challenge are available in the Course Companions program. Namely, we both want to bring forth a world that sides with love in accordance with the teachings of Jesus. This is why we are thrilled to be speaking with Jer Swigart, cofounder of Global Immersion, this week. Global Immersion is a nonprofit that focuses on equipping leaders - particularly those in the Christian church - to become peacemakers in the world. These are very popular teachings, but how should we view these ideas as students of A Course in Miracles, especially given that the Course is 2,000 pages of words? Not surprisingly, the Course has its own answer to this question - namely, it's is asking us to use words as a way to go beyond words. Levels of the Mind

What lies beyond the conscious mind? Are there higher levels? Are there lower ones? A Course in Miracles says yes to both. It contains a fascinating, extensive picture of the mind in which the levels constantly interact with each other. Right now, they are in conflict, but the Course holds out the promise of the mind becoming an organic whole, in which all of the levels work together in harmony. In this episode, Robert and Emily describe the different levels, how they relate to each other, and most importantly, how we can deal with them in order to bring about a harmonious mind. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. A Course in Miracles and Nonduality: Are They the Same?

A Course in Miracles is frequently described as a "nondual" path. It's true that both the Course and nonduality teach that everything is ultimately one and separation is an illusion. However, there are significant differences as well, and those differences amount to contrasting worldviews. In this episode, Robert and Emily present a general overview the distinctions between nondual teachings and A Course in Miracles. Topics covered include fundamental differences related to "self vs. no self", the nature of God, the idea of whether A Course in Miracles uses dualistic language to lead us to a nondual truth, what the Course specifically says about personhood, relationship to others, free will, and more. If you've assumed A Course in Miracles is a nondual path - or if you want to know more about how it differs from nonduality - this is an episode you won't want to miss. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Every minute of every day we are faced with the question of what matters and what doesn't. What if we are getting it all wrong? We've been told to put the big rocks in first and not to sweat the small stuff, but what are the big rocks? And what is the small stuff? A Course in Miracles has surprising yet compelling views on this topic. In its teaching, most everything we attend to, worry about, and sweat over is firmly in the category of what doesn't matter. This doesn't mean that nothing matters and that we should just drift. There are things that truly matter. It's just that they have been largely off our radar, gathering dust while we attend to more "important" things. Join Robert and Emily as they explore a question that is vital to all of our lives: What really matters and what doesn't matter? ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. In this episode, Robert and Emily interview Joe Marino, one of the leading authorities on the Shroud in the world. A Course in Miracles says that the resurrection was "the final demonstration" that all of the other lessons which Jesus taught are true. The crucifixion is the main event in Christianity. Christians generally view Jesus' death as a payment for our sins so that God will forgive us and we can go to Heaven. Increasingly, however, this is leading to a "crisis of faith" where many who sincerely love Jesus can't reconcile him with a God who enacts revenge and violence. How could a loving God murder His own Son? Not surprisingly, A Course in Miracles has an entirely different view of Jesus' crucifixion. Indeed, rather than seeing the sacrifice and suffering associated with the cross as symbolic of the way OUT of the ego, the Course sees it as symbolic OF the ego—what the ego does to us. And, in the end, the Course offers a completely new reframe of the crucifixion and a way to model the best of Jesus' teaching without getting caught in the worst of religion. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. A man she had counseled had developed feelings for her, and now she faced the quandary of what to do. She first received guidance and then wrote him a long letter, a letter which appears to have been inspired from a higher source. In this podcast, Robert and Emily will reveal the ingenious solution that Helen opted for in dealing with this situation. They will also explore how we can apply the essence of her solution to our own challenging situations where we need to set a boundary with love. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. Make This Year Different

A Course in Miracles teaches that time is unreal, yet it also speaks of giving a “year” to God. The Text refers to the New Year 11 times, saying, “This is the year for the application of the ideas that have been given you” [CE T-16.II.10:4]. And the Workbook refers to its year 6 times, calling it “the year that we have given God” [CE W-PtII.In.4:3]. In this episode, Robert and Emily will explore both the Text's and the Workbook's vision of a year given to God. How do we do that? Are we supposed to make an actual New Year's resolution? And if so, what is it? And how does this approach to the New Year relate to making our usual resolutions to lose weight, go to the gym, get organized, etc.? Emily and Robert discuss all of these questions at length, resulting in an episode that might just transform how you approach the New Year. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles.
